Kucks 1963
The black and white is actually a Brace. McCarthy's shot of Johnny Kucks in camp with the '63 Mets is in color:

Nice! Thanks again.
Also, I didn't even know Brace shot Spring Training. Never too old to learn. (Even if I'm turning You-Don't-Want-To Know-How-Old tomorrow. I and Mike DeFelice and Ryota Igarashi and the rest of us. And yes, I need better Mets on my Birthday Team. [Todd Hundley is today. Oh, well.]) |

1920 Red Sox Pitchers at Spring Training
From the current RMY auction: There is 6 names given for 7 players which are (I think in this order) are Pat Flaherty (early football player and actor),Benn Karr, Herb Pennock, Sam Jones, Gary Fortune, Waite Hoyt, Allen Russell. I have not seen prior Red Sox Photos for Allen Russell.
If anyone can help to confirm IDs I would appreciate the help, Thanks Last edited by rrb77; 06-05-2023 at 02:59 PM. Reason: Dto7's appreciated help |

I don't think it's Myers - this is a photo of Myers (I don't recall it's source, but I recall being confident it showed him with Boston) and he has a distinctive look.

I have been using this image of Russell for my project - again, the source I can't recall - I believe it was a multi-player newspaper composite which I had reason to believe at the time showed him with Boston.
Obviously, this image gives us a far better example. |

Artie Wilson 1951
Also from the current RMY auction, a better Giants portrait of the 1948 Negro American League batting champ than the cropped image we had before.
Artie hit .379 in limited action at Minneapolis (nothing compared to Willie Mays's .492, but still), but struggled being largely limited to pinch-hitting in Gotham. 4-for-22 and out. |

Lyle "Bud" Tinning 1932
From the same auction. Tinning is seen during his 1933 season, photographed by Charles Conlon en route to going 13-6 and leading the NL in Winning Percentage.
(Yes, somewhere there was a record book that listed the league leaders as "Winning %, Tinning" or similar.) Another lovely look at the 1931-1934 alternate road unis for the Cubs. I had no idea they'd ever used script. If only this was from '32, we could see the red caps and letters used on this outfit then, but by 1933, they'd gone back to blue. Ah, well. (I took out the yellowing and some of the facial shadow using my controls.) |

Dan Jessee 1929
RMY Auctions says that Jessee (one appearance as a pinch-runner and that's it) is the rarest player of the 1920s and this is his only portrait photo.
But that's a fib, since TNFOTO had a picture of him back in the thread. This one is better, though. |

Howie Williamson 1928
Ten games and out with the Cardinals, but RMY provides an upgrade on what we had.

Bibb Falk 1920
RMY gives us the longtime ChiSox outfielder in the 1925-only blue/white pinstripes road kits.
