Stan Perzanowski Twins 1978

Until now all we had of Stan with Minnesota was a grainy newspaper image - here's something a little better from the Fritsch postcard bonanza on eBay...

Carlos Guevara 2008

A good view of him in a Padres uniform, from his 2008 Topps Rookie Card. Unfortunately for him, every known copy of this card has him mislabeled as Callix Crabbe. Notice Crabbe's signature printed on the photo used on the card. There is also a pretty good image of him in a Padres uniform featured in MLB 09 The Show on his player card in the game, but I do not have my old Playstation hooked up at the moment.

Hello. Just curious if Jack Dilauro was in the Atlanta Braves Spring Training camp in 1971? If so are there any known photos of Him in a Braves uni?

The Braves didn't acquire DiLauro until June of 1971, so he wasn't in their 1971 spring training camp.

Harry Kirsch* - Phil Cooney – Terry Turner – Neal Ball – Jack Graney – Joe Birmingham

Other names that were posited on page 916 don't match the ?. If there are any questions, I'll be happy to post comparison photos.
Thank you I believe the unidentified player at the left of the top row has been identified as George Boice.

Yes; bmarlowe made that identification just after the others, in post# 20477.

Charlie Heard 1890

Heard was previously posted as an older man, but this image depicts him as a member of the 1899 Frankford Yellow Jackets football team. It was printed in a commemorative pamphlet years later.

Ed Fuller 1886

Here's a uniformed image of Fuller, as a government player in 1894 in Washington DC. The image was printed in the 3/26/1944 edition of Evening Star.

WOODCUT LOCATED George Walker 1888 Baltimore AA

Located a woodcut of one my most wanted guys, George Walker, a Canadian pitcher who appeared in 4 games for the 1888 Baltimore American Association club.

His image and a nice bio appeared in the April 19, 1889 London (Ontario) Free Press.

Also from Fritsch, a 1979 Roger Alexander. Does this mean Roger was a Sharman Society member? Is this from Spring Training? Or did Fritsch make a side trip to Richmond to shoot the R-Braves, since AFAIK, Alexander (whom the Braves got in trade for Hank Aaron) spent the whole season there.

I'm confused, I'll admit.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that these postcards are Fritsch products - he's selling them, but I never thought he was the photographer or printer.

And, among them, there are plenty of spring training photos, so was Alexander at the Braves camp in '79? It would be his final year in pro-ball in 1979. He had gone 15-10 between Richmond and Savannah in 1978 with a 2.42 ERA in 28 starts and 153 Ks, each being his career season best. Perhaps the Braves felt they might yet get something from him.

"Fritsch" Postcards

Many, if not most, of the images are neither from the season nor spring training. A lot are from instructional league action, which is why you see so many guys in major league uniforms who never even made it to big league camp.

Also, the photographs are from the collection of Pennsylvania collector Bill White, who collected black and white images in this size, and produced many of them himself (often just "borrowing" photos taken by others including Brace and McCarthy). About half a dozen dealers bought the collection last year, broke it up, and have been/still are selling its parts.

Roger Alexander was in the Atlanta Braves' spring camp in 1979, although he was not on their spring roster. A report in the Pensacola News of Feb. 27, 1979 said that Alexander had plopped Dale Murphy in the head with a pitch the previous day.

As likely a reason as any why he never sniffed MLB action again....

Dave Tomlin - Pirates

More from the Fritsch Postcard Bonanza - I believe all we have of Tomlin is a small head shot from a team publication.

Thanks for the info on Roger Alexander and the "Fritsch" cards.

Bill McKechnie 1907 (Yeah, I forgot to properly title the post. I'm rusty, okay?)

From the current RMY auction, an Underwood & Underwood picture of Bill McKechnie on Opening Day, 1913, in a Boston Braves uniform. The Pirates had traded Bill to St. Paul the previous August, and Boston had picked him up in the Rule V draft. But after he went 0-4 against the Giants, Boston waived him, and the Yankees picked him up.

So this is a one-game-only uniform for the future HoF manager.
