Although this shows Pruess as a boxer, I think it's an upgrade in quality to the known photos of him. To my knowledge, the image of him on baseball-reference or similar copies are the only representations we had seen of him previously. This image came from the following website:

While it's great to correct a misidentified player, it's a little disappointing that Bill Carle didn't give me any credit at all for this discovery.

I just messaged Bill to ask him to update the newsletter to give you credit for the discovery. I had mentioned that you had made the find during my correspondence with him, so should not be an issue. Sorry for the mixup.

I think this may have been on one of Dewey's Red Sox lists, but here is Patten pictured with the 1908 Boston Red Sox. The photo was featured in the 6/14/1908 edition of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

I found a legitimate B&W shot of Loucks as an '85 Pirate some time ago. It is from a Bradenton, Fla., newspaper in March of that year. Not great, perhaps, but it is genuine.

I was able to trace Edgar Barnhart from the sandlots of Columbia, MO to the St. Louis Browns, to the Tulsa Oilers, which farmed Barnhart out to the Corsicana Oilers. This image is taken from a 1925 Corsicana Oilers team photo formerly held in The Sporting News archives, and represents a vast improvement over the ghost-like image shared by Bearman 16 years ago.
