Al Kellett 1923
Here's another option for Kellett, pictured in his Philadelphia Athletics uniform in the 1/13/1924 edition of The Oregon Daily Journal.

Tom B. Sullivan 1925
Here's a Reds option (albeit not ideal) for Reds 1-gamer Sullivan. He was pictured in the 6/13/1925 edition of the Cincinnati Times Star.
I also found Sullivan's mugshot from his 1930 arrest in Seattle on a website called realalaskadaily. In a Facepack first, this upgraded image will be his official photo. Last edited by cinemaodyssey; 09-20-2024 at 02:44 PM. |

George Meister
I noticed that George Meister's Baseball Reference page contains 2 photos of 2 different people which appear to be from the same team photo. Does anyone know which one is the correct one or who the other guy is?

George Meister
Yes, both images are from the 1884 Toledo team photo. The main image for Meister on B-R is correct. The secondary image depicts Hank O'Day.

Another question
I am attempting to add an image for every known 19th century player on the baseball reference bullpen and i noticed there is an image on the John O'Donnell page added by User:WrightWing in 2010 but O'Donnell is on the missing players list. Just to be sure, that isn't the correct guy right? I always check to verify everything.

Yup, the O'Donnell photo is wrong. O'Donnell hasn't been firmly ID'd and there are at least two John O'Donnell's playing in Philadelphia at the time.

Jack Dunn 1897 (1900 or 1901 Phillies uniform)
Jack Dunn had begun his career with Brooklyn as a pitcher and utility player. In 1900, he exclusively pitched, appearing in ten games for Brooklyn before his release, and then another ten games after signing with Philadelphia. He pitched just two games for the Phillies at the start of the 1901 season, before he was released and signed by the Baltimore Orioles. This image was published in The Philadelphia Times on May 2nd of that year, just after his release. He appears to be wearing the 1901 home uniform, but because the sweater covers his shirt, it is possible that this is an image of him in the 1900 road uniform. Far more photographs were taken in spring training and on opening day than afterwards by newspaper staffs in that era (and this appears to be in the ballpark later known as the Baker Bowl), so this is likely the 1901 uniform.

Scott Olsen in a Pittsburgh Pirates uniform
Signed with them for the 2011 season but never played in a game for them because of injuries and was released in May.

Is Bob Keating (1887) a missing player?
I did not see his name on the list of missing players but I also couldn't find a pic of him on this thread when I searched, nor does baseball reference have a pic.

I found his photo on the Keating Company website. He was well-known inventor and specialized in bicycles. https://www.keatingwheelcompany.com/

Gus Bell or Dave Bristol or somebody else???
On "This Day in BB" site, this B&W picture is listed as Gus Bell. Does not seem to be Bell...position, number and face. Looks more like Dave Bristol, who was an infielder with the Reds, but never made the bigs. Anybody with a better idea, or to confirm??

Jim Chatterton 1884 MISSING PLAYER
Normally I don't pay much attention to the advertisements in old newspapers but it seems Chatterton was pictured in the 1/22/1917 edition of The Lynn Daily Item talking about a "miracle cure." The article mentions his ball playing days with Kansas City and Salem.

Kevin Gryboski in a Texas Rangers uniform
Can't seem to find any other pics of him in a Rangers uniform except this one.
