My late friend's return to the Braves in 1967 is surprisingly poorly recorded in images.

Topps did not shoot him. Brace got him in color in Chicago, there is a portrait and a group shot with some friends of his, but he apparently objected to the re-sale and they seldom pop up. I believe there is a publicity shot of Bob from early in Spring Training 1968 (in the '68 pinstripes) when he was still supposed to be a coach and bullpen catcher (and then got fired after an altercation of some kind, inadvertently leading to a different role as a member of Atlanta's Speakers' Bureau, and fame and fortune).

But this is the first team-issued shot of Bob from 1967 that I've ever seen.

Before he was with the Cardinals, he was actually in the Braves farm system but never played in the majors with them. On December 13, 2003 he was traded by the Atlanta Braves with Ray King and Jason Marquis to the St. Louis Cardinals for J.D. Drew and Eli Marrero.

This was made by Krantzbucks at my request. Drumright was drafted by the Cubs in 1976 but got traded to the Houston Astros for Al Javier before he could play a major league game with them.

In a few days I will be asking for some images of players from 1990, but before that, as I complete my 1990 project, I do have two questions, and I hope no one will object if this is not the correct place.

As I read through newspapers to track active roster moves during the regular season, a couple of things often confuse me:

If a player is "placed on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release" is this synonymous with actually being "released"? Or are there two steps 1) waived, and at a later date, 2) released? If so, being "waived" does take a player of the active roster, correct?

Also, if a player is "claimed off waivers" is this synonymous with the player being "purchased"?
