One should note that in the smoker itself, Bleichert was asked to throw the fight but ended up getting KO'd legitimately by Blanchard. I'll have to look at the ratings and let you know if I approve!!! And if I don't... there will be heck to pay!!!!!one!

I just happened back across this site and see that there is a new TBCB out, so that is great news. This thread was a great time killer at work this afternoon, very nice work.
The only movies I was looking for were 'Streets of Gold' and 'The Prizefighter'. The latter mostly 'cause I remember watching it when I was very young on HBO. Streets of Gold 'cause I always make up Roland 'Rashed' Jenkins in my games. The other guy I always made up was Bomba Yern. Two points to anybody that knows him.... |

I've got notes on both of these films but usually like to rewatch a film before I create ratings so it will likely be awhile before I do anything on these fighters. Feel free to post your own ratings for them here. I cannot, for the life of me, identify Bomba Yern. I'm glad that you enjoyed the thread, Bear

Bomba Yern is a boxer from the old stand up arcade game Ring King. Although I can find no evidence anywhere on google search to support that. It's just from memory, but I recall him kicking my butt a few times when I was much younger. |

Jack Goes to Concert
From
"The Jack Benny Program" Jack Goes to Concert (1960) Original Air Date:11 December 1960 (Season 11, Episode 8) Jack Benny takes his date Mildred Meyerhouser (Barbara Nichols) to a recital also attended by Jimmy Stewart. Mildred would rather have gone to the fights and listens to the bout between Basher Jones and Dynamite Thompson on her radio while at the recital. No weights are given for these two so I arbitraily assigned a weight class and made them TC's. We have: Basher Jones LHW S 0 Dynamite Thompson LHW S 0

"Taxi"
With Tony Danza's arrival in the database one of the boxing themed episodes was rerun here.
"Taxi" The Reluctant Fighter (1979) Director:James Burrows Writer:Ken Estin (writer) TV Series:"Taxi" (1978) Original Air Date:25 December 1979 (Season 2, Episode 15) Cast (Episode Credited cast) Tony Danza ... Tony Banta Michael V. Gazzo ... Vince (manager of Banta) Appears to be punchy Gene LeBell ... Referee Armando Muniz ... Benny Foster J. Alan Thomas ... Jeff Bennett Armando Muniz played Benny Foster, a popular ex-MW champ who has decided to stage a comeback at age 38. He picks Tony Banta as his opponent. Had retired in 1971 and made the comback in 1979. Had a Known win vs. Martini. Banta began fighting as an amateur at age 14. Has loses to Jefferson, Rodgiguez, and the Camillio Brothers. Has to work as a Hack because he can't make a living fighting. His Ko of Foster is his career highlight. Vince appeared to be an ex-pug so I created a TC for his character.
