To play a OOTP baseball game head to head over the internet is llloooonnnggg overdue.

I watched Kris vs TJ last night, but only one player had complete control. Entertaining, but of all the updates, I can't believe head to head over the internet has not been included?

Were the country names put back? I don't have version 22 yet but not having the names would be a huge turnoff for me.

Adding that in has been discussed for a long, long time. I think there hasn’t ever been real movement on that front because I just don’t think the majority of players necessarily play like that. Instead they play the GM, set their lineups, etc. and play in leagues, or they do pure solo play. To set up a 2 player game you probably have to set up a dedicated server (it’s considerably harder on the player for one user to act as a “host”, change firewall settings, etc.) and then essentially fashion an entirely new aspect of the game that acts as a thin client on at least one end (even if you set one player to run the game engine) and then constantly push out and receive updates / respond to user input / etc. That’s not a trivial add.

I think it’d be really cool to be able to set up some kind of setup to replicate what we did in SOM leagues back in the day: get everyone together on Discord and then pair off to play games a series at a time. Is it a big enough potential market to put it in / go through testing / etc.? I don’t know. Perhaps with the revenue stream from Go! they can explore this in more depth…

Post Play by Email, Anyone?

Syd, I'm playing OOTP via email with a pal in Florida (I'm in Michigan). We each have a team in one league, and simply email a link to our chosen online file storage system (Google, Amazon, Mega, Dropbox, whatever) and play our games out. No server required. The only time control becomes an issue is drafting, a direct player to player trade, or if we meet in the playoffs. Emalil the link back and forth, a quick DL, and presto!

Especially for a geezer (59) like me, play-by-mail evokes certain fond memories of chess by mail in the 70's and early 80's. There's a certain amount of patience and trust involved, and it would be chaotic with more than probably 4 players, but it is a quick and simple thing to do for just the two of us.

It ain't perfect, but a whole bunch of the issues become irrelevant. BTW, slap me if I already posted this somewhere else...

Yes, lots of people play like that. I’m in a league like that as well. I’m talking about playing out actual games face to face, a la SOM leagues back in the day.

I know I am late sharing an impression for OOTP 22, but just picked it up and played out my first 3d game at Fenway. Wow, it was amazing!

Because my previous version was OOTP 18, I understand that a lot will have changed due to jumping 4 versions ahead. Really had fun playing out the game, love the features that have been added over the last several versions, and I am really looking forward to playing the game again. Great Job!

For Perfect team, it would be a great addition to add history to a card on how it was acquired. Pack? AH for 3000 PP? Tournament reward?

Currently I don't know how some of the cards are in my collection and for how much?

I have recently noticed that the stadium that appears for games is not the stadium assigned to the home team. The games seem to default to a generic stadium, or in my case, Citizens Bank Park. A lovely park, for sure, but I don’t want or need it for home teams other than my beloved/lamented Phillies. Am I missing some step in the process of assigning stadia for each team? Also, I am not seeing some of the stadium mods that I painstakingly downloaded. Have I erroneously placed them in the wrong folder, such that OOTP cannot “see” them? Dunno. Getting tired of playing every game in CBP. Exception: Orioles are playing home games in Camden Yards. But road games seem to be in CBP. What can I do to correct this??

I assume yours is not the Steam version of the game. Correct?

Did you download the stadiums after you created the league or before?

Can you post a screenshot of your ballparks folder (showing the contents of the folder)? Also, a screenshot of the models folder (showing the contents of the folder)?

Yes. Downloaded directly from the site purchase.

Hmmm. For the most part, before. I started with OOTP 21, created a league to practice, then began the downloads and then set up historical leagues. Brought all that over to OOTP 22, or so I thought. Could it be that the stadiums did not make the jump?

Can you post a screenshot of your ballparks folder (showing the contents of the folder)? Also, a screenshot of the models folder (showing the contents of the folder)?

Have to jump to my other machine and locate to do that.

I'm not sure, but I wonder if there's a mismatch between the stadium names in the era_ballparks.txt file and the stadium names assigned by Silvam14. If you were to download the stadiums from the Steam Workshop, the stadium names will match the names in the era_ballparks.txt file, for sure. But you didn't, so they may not.

Please add the ability to have overall and potential ratings to be 40 to 100 rather than 20-80.

So just out of curiosity- I know why the game includes option of the 20-80 scale as this mirrors real life scouting methods- but why 40 to 100? (Is there something I am unaware of IRL that would prompt this request?)

That is what is used in Perfect team.

Ah, I see. Now it makes more sense.
Apologies- I have never played Perfect Team.

It's frustrating to me that PT issues are not posted in PT threads. It creates unnecessary confusion.

This is not a PT issue, I am asking for the regular game to mimic the rating system. It is the same game as far as hitting and pitching ratings.
