Thank you for the Don Slaught photo, the reminder to remove Red Steiner, and the Al Worthington and Biff Wysong newspaper clippings. Do you have any information about the Wysong and/or Worthington publication dates?
I am going to leave the rest on the list for the reasons described below: Brian Snyder - This is not a 1989 A's image. It is a photoshopped 1989 Tacoma Tigers photo. Dizzy Trout - This appears to be a photoshopped photo or AI image. Ollie Ticker (sic) - This is a photo of Ollie Tucker with the Yankees during spring training 1923. It is not a Cleveland Indians photo. Lee Tunnell - This is not a 1989 Twins image. It is a photoshopped 1989 Portland Beavers photo. Turkey Tyson - This is not a 1944 Phillies image. It is a photoshopped 1947 Durham Bulls photo. Jim Walewander - This is not a 1993 Angels image. It is a photoshopped 1994 Edmonton Trappers photo. Mike Walker - The Steve Moore photo is almost certainly from spring training 1992, not 1996, when Walker played for the Tigers. I had forgotten to note that on the online copy of the UIN list. It is now updated. Norm Wallen - This appears to be an AI or photoshopped image. Ty Waller - This is not a 1987 Astros image. It is a photoshopped 1986 Tucson Toros photo. Jim Weaver - This appears to be a photoshopped image, but I have not yet found the source photo. Mickey Weston - This photo, and several others, including some color photos in the Steve Moore archives, come from Weston's time with the Mets during spring training ca. 1983-86, not during his ML tenure. I've added a note to the list. Reggie Williams - This is not a 1988 Indians image. It is a photoshopped 1988 Colorado Sky Sox photo. Terry Wilshusen - This is the same image I have, upon which I was hoping for improvement. Wilshusen is probably the nicest image for which I have left the entry on the UIN list. Perhaps I should remove it. Tack Wilson - This appears to be an AI image. Among other tells, his skin color is off. Trevor Wilson - This is not a 1998 Angels image. It is a photoshopped Orioles image from Wilson's 1995 Stadium Club card. Rich Wortham - This image appears to be photoshopped. I have not yet located the source photo, but based on the large number of other photoshopped minor league card photos in this group, I'm leaning toward that. Craig Worthington - This is not a 1992 Indians image. It is a photoshopped 1992 Colorado Springs Sky Sox photo. That leaves Al Williamson and Chink Zachary. I have had the Williamson image (or at least an unenhanced version of it) in my collection for many years, but have never been able to source it to a publication that would confirm that it comes from his time with the White Sox. Even a wider crop that shows more of the uniform would be helpful. Because of that, I have left him on the list. With Zachary, I am always curious when a previously unknown, closely cropped headshot shows up without sourcing info. Especially when the photo is much clearer than previously shared images. Until some primary source information, or a matching wider crop of the photo appears, I'll remain skeptical.

The Williamson is legit. It was featured in a Chicago newspaper from his time playing there. I'll try and find the reference but I came across it some time ago.
EDIT: I located the image in question. It was printed in the 3/28/1928 edition of the Chicago Tribune along with the rest of the White Sox roster for the season. Last edited by cinemaodyssey; 07-12-2026 at 01:46 AM. |

Tack Wilson 1987 UIN
John at Baseball Birthdays has several very good photos of Wilson with the 1987 Angels. Watermark aside, these should be enough to get him off the UIN list.

Biff Wysong 1930 UIN
I hadn't looked for Wysong before but I found a good photo of him on his first day as a Cincinnati Red. He was pictured in the 8/9/1930 edition of The Cincinnati Post in full uniform. Later in his career, the Cincinnati Post also pictured him in the 3/4/1931 edition.

Garland Shifflett 1957
These are unretouched originals, at least one from a '50s Senators yearbook.
Odd career: Opening Day roster, Washington 1957. By the time he got back to the majors the team had moved to Minnesota. He came up briefly in '64, was in camp '69, and made his last bids for the majors with the new Senators in '71 and Texas in '72. |

Terry Wilshusen 1973 (in 1972)
Still not an actual Angels image, but at least it's not badly colorized, badly photo-shopped B&W.
This is from his 1972 season with Rochester, where he was hard to miss, appearing 63 times in relief. Cherubs picked him from Baltimore in the Rule V draft, pitched him for 1/3 disastrous inning, and that was it. POSTSCRIPT: I take back what I said about the B&W Wilshusen necessarily being photo-shopped. The "A" logo seemed too small until I came across this, apparently taken in Spring Training '73, of another obscure Angel pitcher, Bruce Heinbechner. Same tiny sized, with two possible explanations: that could be a Salt Lake Angels cap, or, since the Halos switched from the lower case "a" to the capital "A" in '73 those might have been interim spring training caps Last edited by Merkle923; 07-12-2026 at 06:29 PM. Thanks, CO, for the Williamson confirmation and the Wysong upgrade. That's nicer than what I was able to find. I also agree about Tack Wilson. I've removed him from the list.
Thanks, Merkle, for the Shifflett and Wilshusen photos. I agree that the existing "Angels" photo leaves a lot to be desired. He'll stay on the list. I'm still hoping to find a publication date for the Al Worthington Red Sox image that UK shared. I haven't been able to track that one down yet.

The coach looks like Cal Ermer in 1977. The shades can't hide those bushy eyebrows. Last edited by Shea6408; 07-13-2026 at 01:21 PM. |

Somewhere between 1973 and 1976?? Cubs would have been wearing the 1971 button-ups in the Spring of '72 and the 1976 unis with the Bicentennial patch in the Spring of '77, but where in between those springs, I couldn't say.

Think the Cub catcher might be Frank Estrada, shown here while he was in the Mets organization. He split '73 between Wichita and Midland before heading to the Mexican League. According to Baseball Reference, he played professional ball, almost entirely in Mexico, from 1964-1994.
