I just realized that had it been a Starlight vs Roxbury Sole Survivor Series, then Ayag Mour and Oren Gep would have been going head to head for a championship. Opportunity missed!

![]() Hopefully momentum can be maintained, now. I know I've danced around the issue, but I think I'm going to codify just what I classify as "too much success". I think a team gets stale when they win 'more than 2 out of a stretch of 4'. A sample of 2, or even 3 years is too small to be worth talking about realistically, and I think just saying "50% of the time" is too simplistic because 50% can be either stale or not depending on context, hence the above rule. Going forward, that's my criteria. |

October 2311
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 19 October 2311 CBO Awards The CBO awards have been announced. Here are all awards in the CBO for the 2311 season. NCA Hitter - The manager of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists said he thinks Family Sam Partridge is only going to get better as he gets older. He may only be 22, but it will be hard to top the left fielder's 2311 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the North Charles Association Nuka-Hitter Award. His winning campaign featured a .316 batting average and a .368 on-base percentage this year. In 122 games he piled up 149 hits, 19 doubles, 1 triple, 45 home runs, 112 RBIs and 94 runs scored. He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 28. Diamond Ball of the Nahant Celtics finished second in voting with 11 first place votes, while Jacob Tarberry of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys finished third. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the South Charles Association Nuka-Hitter Award. Cocoa hit for a .369 average while collecting 165 hits, 47 doubles, 5 triples, 30 home runs, 101 RBIs and scoring 122 times. He received 28 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Homestay Lovetap of the Spectacle Island Reapers finished second in voting, while End Yamada of the Vault 81 Dwellers finished third. Pitcher Award. He started 32 times, threw 218.1 innings while collecting 167 strikeouts and fashioned a 2.76 ERA. Nut allowed only 204 hits, 38 walks and a .247 opponents' batting average. He received 28 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Zack Million of the Nahant Celtics finished second in voting, while Junkyard Gourd of the Concord Radstags finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Beachboy Nut - Nordhagen Beach Party Boys - 28 - 196 Zack Million - Nahant Celtics - 0 - 110 Junkyard Gourd - Concord Radstags - 0 - 67 Digger Vadim - Starlight Killers - 0 - 34 Cohort Williams - Nahant Celtics - 0 - 33 Eugene Gym - Sunshine Tidings Chemists - 0 - 29 Flirt Perez - The Slog Ghouls - 0 - 7 SCA Pitcher - The Goodneighbor Hancocks have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Heaven Fontenot, this year's South Charles Association Vim! Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Fontenot compiled a 22-7 record in 33 starts, tallied 172 strikeouts in 251.2 innings and recorded a 2.43 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .226 batting average against him. He received 25 first place votes out of a possible 28. Hry Caje of the Egret Ninjas finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Max Grove of the Egret Ninjas finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Heaven Fontenot - Goodneighbor Hancocks - 25 - 187 Hry Caje - Egret Ninjas - 3 - 121 Max Grove - Egret Ninjas - 0 - 81 Nuke Laloosh - Roxbury Rad Sox - 0 - 58 Tony Bertha - University Point Deathclaws - 0 - 12 Paul Stains - Diamond City Swatters - 0 - 8 Chris Teddybear - Spectacle Island Reapers - 0 - 6 Baker Dozen - FHE Yao Guai - 0 - 2 Oliver Oil - Goodneighbor Hancocks - 0 - 1 NCA Manager - The Starlight Killers coaching staff broke out the bubbly when Manager Josh Goldsby was announced as 2311 North Charles Association Manager of the Year. He skippered the Killers to a 80-50 record this year and a first place finish in the North Charles Association Institute League. To a man, they all agreed that their boss was most deserving of the award. All had glowing words to say about this year's winning manager. "He just has a way with people. Coaches and players alike love him." SCA Manager - Egret manager Cozy Burmaster was selected as the 2311 South Charles Association Manager of the Year today. He was somewhat of a dark horse next to some of the more flashy managers up for the award. Burmaster, who prefers that everyone call him "Cap" or "Skip," tries to shy away from the limelight in a media-driven world. "It's really unfair to the guys that busted their humps all year long to put all the focus on me now. They showed up early, put in extra time in the cage, worked on their fielding, consulted with our coaching staff and really made 2311 a highlight in my career." In fairness to this year's Manager of the Year, Burmaster certainly played an important part in the Ninjas success as he guided them to a first place finish in the South Charles Association Railroad League and a 79-51 record. NCA Rookie - The top North Charles Association rookie in 2311 was Cambridge right fielder Jim Geiger. He's the latest winner of the North Charles Association Red Rocket Rookie Award. During his first year in the league, the 24-year-old Geiger hit .325 with 152 hits, 17 home runs, 85 RBIs and 80 runs scored. He also walked 74 times on his way to a .414 on-base percentage. He received 28 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jeet November of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud finished second in voting, while KiJana Mallee of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Jim Geiger - Cambridge Coursers - 28 - 140 Jeet November - Fort Hagen Silver Shroud - 0 - 81 KiJana Mallee - Fort Hagen Silver Shroud - 0 - 17 Cohort Williams - Nahant Celtics - 0 - 12 Plastic Augmon - Cambridge Coursers - 0 - 1 Elastic Man Haley - Fort Hagen Silver Shroud - 0 - 1 SCA Rookie - 2311 was an impressive year for Glowing Sea right fielder Naga Arakaki and it was capped off today with the announcement that he has been named the winner of the South Charles Association Red Rocket Rookie Award. Arakaki compiled a .321 batting average and a .403 on-base percentage this season. In 124 games he piled up 144 hits, 27 home runs, 66 RBIs and 75 runs scored. He received 25 first place votes out of a possible 28. Zod Gaycey of the Spectacle Island Reapers finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Jay Gabby of the Goodneighbor Hancocks finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Naga Arakaki - Glowing Sea Radscorpions - 25 - 134 Zod Gaycey - Spectacle Island Reapers - 3 - 90 Jay Gabby - Goodneighbor Hancocks - 0 - 25 Munyeb Funyun - FHE Yao Guai - 0 - 3 NCA Positional Hitters - A group of established and budding Commonwealth Baseball Organization stars were today named winners of the North Charles Association BosCom Positional Hitter Award. The 33-year-old was a dominant performer all year for County Crossing and his efforts have been rewarded with the North Charles Association Fallon's Reliever Award for 2311. The bullpen ace had an impressive 2.72 ERA this season, with 29 saves in 51 relief appearances. He fanned 56 batters in 56.1 innings and sported a record of 5 wins and 4 losses. He received 20 first place votes out of a possible 28. Justin Wilkerson of the Starlight Killers finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Rob Hoode of the Nahant Celtics finished third with 4 first place votes. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Wick Prater - County Crossing Bloodbugs - 20 - 113 Justin Wilkerson - Starlight Killers - 3 - 75 Rob Hoode - Nahant Celtics - 4 - 48 Cush Baker - Sunshine Tidings Chemists - 1 - 16 SCA Reliever - At the age of 24, Professor Harriel says he still has a lot to learn about life in Commonwealth Baseball Organization. But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Roxbury Rad Sox reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2311 South Charles Association Fallon's Reliever Award. "I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Indianapolis, Indiana native said. For the season, Harriel had 41 saves in 55 relief appearances, which totaled 57.2. He fanned 41 betters, while walking 13 and put up a record of 6-2 to go with his 1.72 ERA. He received 28 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Marc Pondsip of the University Point Deathclaws finished second in voting, while Mel Gorgeous of the Goodneighbor Hancocks finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Professor Harriel - Roxbury Rad Sox - 28 - 140 Marc Pondsip - University Point Deathclaws - 0 - 58 Mel Gorgeous - Goodneighbor Hancocks - 0 - 39 Willie Lule - University Point Deathclaws - 0 - 8 Matt Hoernig - University Point Deathclaws - 0 - 7 NCA Defenders - They flashed the leather all year and saved countless hits and runs for their teams. The following players are the Corvega Top Defender Award winners for the North Charles Association in 2311: Pitcher Whokill Poole (Starlight Killers) Catcher Stuart Costantino (Nahant Celtics) First Baseman Zeldolph Violet (County Crossing Bloodbugs) Second Baseman Looter Knol (Starlight Killers) Third Baseman Ross Merchantman (Sunshine Tidings Chemists) Shortstop Gavin Deux-Gas (The Slog Ghouls) Left Fielder Passel Argente (Cambridge Coursers) Center Fielder Duff Fee (Concord Radstags) Right Fielder Edward Cox (Malden Grognaks) SCA Defenders - "Ball hawk" is a good name for the members of the defensive elite, the players who make leather shine. The fielders who crashed the wall, leapt in the air, and dove in the hole better than any others during 2311 have been tabbed as the South Charles Association's Corvega Top Defender Award winners. Here are this year's best: Pitcher Will Rope (Atom Cats) Catcher Racky Westheim (Oberland T-51s) First Baseman Barker Cocoa (University Point Deathclaws) Second Baseman Elton Goodspeed (Glowing Sea Radscorpions) Third Baseman Donn Mattingley (Roxbury Rad Sox) Shortstop Poncho Picasso (Spectacle Island Reapers) Left Fielder Jesus Church (Egret Ninjas) Center Fielder Earthbound Bussey (Oberland T-51s) Right Fielder Jay Gabby (Goodneighbor Hancocks) CBO Draft The CBO draft will be conducted on November 5, 2311, with 15 rounds of players selected from the youth and college ranks. Each week leading up to the draft, we will take a look at the OSA Mock Draft and break down players to watch in each of the first three rounds. The first three rounds are considered CBO-probable players, so we want to see who is projected where and what it might mean. Mock 1st Round Analysis The OSA Mock Draft is meant to analyze talent from a top-down perspective. While each team may have a different philosophy on how it will draft, the OSA looks at two major factors: potential and short-term contributions. That means, the actual draft may look quite different. With that stated, the OSA has listed 1B Jimmy-Hames Sessoms of the Marlborough Minigunners as the #1 overall pick. According to OSA, Sessoms is an opening-day starter for the team that drafts him, assuming they are in need of a 1B. Southie has 1B Mike Truk (.287/25/77) as one of its top players, so we feel that the Brews will go in a different direction for a position of immediate need (SS, CF). Sessoms is considered to be a player with premier power potential who can be a good all-around hitter, meaning he will be vying for Nuka Hitter Awards in the future. With the second pick, the OSA Mock has Glowing Sea taking CF Eden Babz of Weymouth. Babz is a rare outfield talent who can hit well and has blazing speed on the bases and in the outfield. He also could and maybe should be the Scorpions' opening-day starter at CF if he were to be drafted by them. SP Buzzcut McDonald of the Hester Mechanists is the OSA pick to be #3 overall, selected by Jamaica Plain. McDonald may need some time to develop as opposed to the hitters in the draft, but once he reaches his potential, he could be one of the top aces n the league. McDonald is a traditional power pitcher who can blaze fastballs by hitters. At the same time, his looping curve tends to fool hitters, allowing him to get strikeouts through various means. His fastball and cutter both have deceiving movement, which makes it difficult for hitters to square up his pitches. Other players to keep an eye on in the 1st: SS Brandon Larsonist, Freeplat Wicked Goods - Larsonist is a hard-hitting SS who can make a difference for any team that needs a SS hitting in the middle of the lineup, i.e., just about every team. OSA Prediction: #5 to Cambridge. SP Alex Language, Beantown Sprouts - Language is another pitcher who could become an ace in the league. Except for an injury that cut his senior season short, Language was dominant for the Sprouts, finishing his career there with a 44-6, 2.20 line. OSA Prediction: #12 to County Crossing. CF Dude Lebowski, South Charles Bank Moonies - Lebowski may not be as good as Babz, but he is a great all-around player who will help his team in the batter's box, on the bases, and in the field. While he is not a power hitter, he does have enough pop to make him dangerous in RBI situations. OSA Prediction: #15 to Bunker Hill 2B Togie Pitt, Harvard University Crimson - The college player, Pitt, could play either 2B or SS in the pros. While he has no skills to make his a true star, Pitt does have a good all-around game which should entrench him as a long-time starter once he breaks into the CBO. OSA Prediction: #22 to Vault 81. SP Melvin Terminator, Wareham Comets - Another SP who had an injury in his senior season to cut his youth career short, Terminator had three great seasons for the Comets and an excellent start during his senior season before an elbow injury. He loves his array of off-speed pitches, curve and changeup, to go along with three pitches with lots of movement: sinker, splitter, cutter. OSA Prediction: #27 to Starlight. October 2311
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 26 October 2311 CBO Draft The CBO draft will be conducted on November 5, 2311, with 15 rounds of players selected from the youth and college ranks. Each week leading up to the draft, we will take a look at the OSA Mock Draft and break down players to watch in each of the first three rounds. The first three rounds are considered CBO-probable players, so we want to see who is projected where and what it might mean. Mock 2nd Round Analysis Looking at the 2nd round mock, there are still lots of good players available, including some pitchers who can still make their mark, even if they are going to take longer to develop than the positional players. With that stated, let's feature three players that are good enough to be 1st round picks. SP Jared Porch of the Freeplat Wicked Goods may not have as much raw talent as some of the other pitchers, but he has been a pitcher of results, pitching well despite little run support. Porch has a five-pitch repertoire with all pitches being about equal in effectiveness. OSA scouts believe he may need to leave his curve behind, but he should still have enough pitches to keep hitters guessing. While he may never develop into an ace, his ceiling is as a #2 starter. OSA predicts him to be the 4th player taken in the 2nd Round by Easy Town. At #7 in the 2nd Round (Concord) is SS Alex Bragman of Thompson Heights. A great defensive player with good raw talent, a team may want to move him to 3B as their middle-of-the-lineup hitter. Scouts rank him as a 2nd-rounder because his overall contact potential is behind other hitters. Should he learn to find the gaps in addition to his longball, he could be a perennial All-Star. Another pitcher that could develop into an ace but probably has a ceiling as a second pitcher is SP Aaron Noluh of the Sandwich Screamers. Noluh will be drafted as a currently-injured pitcher. He had the chance to improve his draft stock, but instead got injured which brings some durability concerns. Still, if Quincy drafts him as the 14th pick of the 2nd Round, he will be in a good situation. Assuming that he can stay healthy, scouts love his ability to make hitters miss with his four-pitch array. Other players to watch in the 2nd round: 2B Kevin Deux-Gas, Salem Werewolves - Younger brother of The Slog's Gavin, Kevin Deux-Gas is in the same mold but a little less talented. He could play anywhere in the infield but projects best as a 2B. He does not have much power, but he can find the gaps for singles and doubles. Scouts project him to be a starter in the CBO, though he is expected to be more of a support hitter late in the lineup with his glove being what keeps him on the field. OSA Prediction: #9 to Goodneighbor. SS Brass Well, Glowing Sea Prep Venom - Well was a four-year starter for the Veniom who showed in his senior season that he has tons of talent. Well is considered by scouts to be a jack of all trades, master of none. He can hit well and showed some pop with his 22 home runs his senior season. He also has a decent glove, though he will probably never win a defensive award. OSA Prediction: #10 to The Slog. SP Jacques Of'Ten, Jamaica Plain Treasures - Of'Ten saw his stock drop in 2311 after he regressed while trying to work in extra pitches. He projects as a SP but may be a top RP if his drafting team goes that route. His ceiling is as a #2 starter, though, so some good development to go with the right coaching staff could help him reach that rank. OSA Prediction: #15 to Bunker Hill. 2B Odd Todd Walker, Brown Bubblers - Like Well, Walker showed huge gains in development during his senior season for the Bubblers, including hitting 28 home runs. Scouts think he is a good all-around player who will help with his bat and be good enough at either 2B or 3B for his team. He has pretty good speed on the base path, which can help him to bat early in the lineup and swipe bases when he gets on. OSA Prediction: #16 to Sunshine Tidings LF Tallahassee Vice, Taunton Giants - Vice is yet another player who saw his stock rise, and scouts believe he is not even close to his ceiling. He has seen steady improvement, including hitting .272/23/42 his senior season with the Giants. Scouts believe he may need some time to develop to become CBO-ready, but they think the team he goes to will try to develop him as a CF and get him to hit the weight room to improve his punch with the bat. OSA Prediction: #24 to University Point CBO Transactions Thursday, October 26th , 2311 Concord Radstags: Signed RF La`nh Bilh. Wednesday, October 25th , 2311 Lexington Synths: Signed SS Cowboy Flores. Egret Ninjas: Signed 3B Putty Twoloose. The Easy Town Assaultrons traded 27-year old RHP Closecall Hubb, 21-year old minor league LF Jwin Bigler, and 18-year old minor league LF Mandirali Tasilova to the Lexington Synths, getting 20-year old minor league 1B Alf Zimmerman in return. Monday, October 23rd , 2311 University Point Deathclaws: Signed free agent RP Zaggy Whitewater to a minor league contract. Concord Radstags: Signed RF Clapper Vigil. The Bunker Hill 75ers traded 19-year old C Luff Gurr, 24-year old RHP Matt Gatekeeper, 23-year old 2B Cale Craycray, and 23-year old minor league LF Sting McGee to the Sunshine Tidings Chemists, getting 30-year old C Red Sone in return. Sunday, October 22nd , 2311 Oberland T-51s: Released RP Zaggy Whitewater. Goodneighbor Hancocks: Signed LF Flagg Randallson. The Southie Brews traded 18-year old minor league 1B Chris Neverson and a 9th round draft pick to the University Point Deathclaws, getting 24-year old RHP Zane Zorro and 21-year old minor league RHP Diamond Calmhead in return. Saturday, October 21st , 2311 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud: Released 2B Waggs McBiskitt. Goodneighbor Hancocks: Signed LF Safety Langer. Friday, October 20th , 2311 Concord Radstags: Signed RF Vic Vaati. Egret Ninjas: Signed 3B Austin LaFleur.

October 2311
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 27 October 2311 Quincy and the Gunners Name There has been controversy over the years with the Quincy CBO team being named the Gunners after a militia group that terrorized the Commonwealth up until 2289 when the last remnants were either imprisoned or removed from existence. In the beginning days of the CBO, there were multiple protests about using the name. While those protests quieted, as soon as Quincy began to show some improvement as a team, the protests began again. Because of these protests, Commissioner Nate Howard and Gunners owner Smiling Larry agreed to start a commission to discuss the team name. Here are the results of the commission, made up of 25 community members around the Commonwealth not directly associated with the CBO: "In regards to the future of the name of the Gunners, the Commission has reached the following conclusions: * The name of "Gunners" holds a significant negative connotation for some citizens. * The rights of an owner are strictly protected as a means of rights to expression as long as that owner fulfills the mission of the CBO. * The bandit group known as the Gunners is no longer a direct nor immediate threat to the Commonwealth. * The naming rights are at the will of the team owner and no one else. In regards to the owner of the Quincy team, Mr. Smiling Larry, he made the following arguments regarding the team's name: * The Gunners are a known group and their graffiti and other markings are known throughout the Commonwealth. * By assuming the Gunners name and symbolism, the Quincy baseball team has erased the group's existence in the CBO. The Gunners logo is now associated with baseball. * Significant costs in branding and marketing would have to be repaid to Mr. Larry since a name change would go against his will. * A community survey in the Quincy settlement showed a 72% approval rate for the team name, and only a 14% desire to change the team name. Based on the evidence procured and on the opinion of this nominated Commission to discuss the future of the Quincy team, we conclude that the Quincy Gunners name is acceptable and should remain as long as the team owner is in support of that team name."

BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 November 2311 CBO Draft The CBO draft will be conducted on November 5, 2311, with 15 rounds of players selected from the youth and college ranks. Each week leading up to the draft, we will take a look at the OSA Mock Draft and break down players to watch in each of the first three rounds. The first three rounds are considered CBO-probable players, so we want to see who is projected where and what it might mean. Mock 3rd Round Analysis RF Charles Towner of the Provincetown Land Pirates has the talent to be a 1st-rounder, but a drop in contact cost him some draft stock. He batted just .234 one season after batting .307, causing some concern with scouts despite the potential. Where Towner will fins most success should he go as predicted to Goodneighbor with the 9th pick of the 3rd round would be in his power. He can clear the bases on any swing, and will be valuable to his CBO team once he fully fills in his body. With the 11th pick of the 3rd Round, OSA scouts expect 1B Bull Lozano of the Attleboro Deejays to be the pick. Lozano is also a power hitter, but his glove is a bit of a detriment, preventing him from being a top pick. Scouts believe that Lozano will be a top hitter, meaning they expect to see him in the CBO. OSA scouts have RF Getty Ivey of the Marblehead Mess going to Egret with the 26th pick of the 3rd Round, but we do not know why. Ivey has 1st-round talent and showed increased gains each year with the Mess. Scouts think he can be a .300/30 hitter with a decent glove. If Ivey is taken with the 82 overall pick, we would consider him one of the top steals of the draft. Others to Watch in the 3rd Round: RF Vaultie Daydreamer, Sturbridge Rangers - Daydreamer is entering the draft after his junior season, meaning he still needs some time to develop. Still, he hit .331/18/51, which probably means his draft stock is at the highest it will be. Scouts love his patience at the plate and ability to foul off close pitches off the plate. They think he will have an excellent OBP once he makes it to the CBO. OSA Prediction: #3 to Jamaica Plain. 1B Hercules Bentley, Mass Bay University Beacons - Bentley is entering the draft as a junior out of MBU. He was consistent in his three years there, hitting 25, 25, and 28 home runs.He is also considered to be one of the most CBO-ready players entering the 2311 Draft. Scouts believe he will be effective with his bat, but may want to develop defensive skills more. OSA Prediction: #19 to FHE. RF Yellow Gupta, Brown Bubblers - Younger sibling to Purple Gupta, Yellow Gupta was a four-year starter with Brown. He is considered a late-developing prospect, which may even drop him to a lower round. Still, his potential is sky-high. Scouts like that he has a body for power and think he could develop into a top power-hitting player. He is also disciplined at the plate and will wait for his pitch. He has a decent glove and will be able to man either corner OF position. OSA Prediction: #21 to Oberland. CF Clemnz Brunn, Sturbridge Rangers - The draft-eligible youth junior is entering the draft as an all-around good player. He has pretty good OF instincts, which means he can play anywhere in the OF, though his probable landing spot will be in LF. He is a good all-around hitter, but will not lead the league in any one category. He will be an interesting prospect to see how he develops. OSA Prediction: #22 to Vault 81. SP Meribrand Docybuck, Provincetown Land Pirates - Docybuck is as late as he is because scouts are not sure if he will become a starter or reliever in the pros. He has four pitches, but only his fastball and cutter are considered major-league pitches at this point. The thing is, if he concentrates on both of those pitches, he may be an elite closer. Otherwise, he needs to develop his changeup and circle change to be a starter at the next level. Scouts think he can control the strike zone and make hitters miss. He could be anywhere from an ace to a mid-reliever. OSA Prediction: #27 to Nordhagen Beach. CBO Transactions Thursday, November 2nd , 2311 Egret Ninjas: Signed 3B Robert Blast. Wednesday, November 1st , 2311 Roxbury Rad Sox: Released RP John Schuetzle. Goodneighbor Hancocks: Signed LF Stan Sinshallows. November 2311
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 6 November 2311 Nine Pitchers Highlight 2311 Draft 1st Round The 2311 Draft may be a pitcher's draft with nine of the 28 1st-Rounders manning the mound. The top two picks, SP Buzzcut McDonald and SP Alex Language, were both pitchers. McDonald is the first pitcher since SP Clubhouse Treelover was picked first overall in the 2307 Draft. Southie used that top pick to select McDonald out of the CYL's Hester Mechanists. He will be assigned to the Coastal Cottage Buds of the GBRL. Language of the CYL's Beantown Sprouts was selected second by the Glowing Sea Radscorpions. He will also be assigned to the GBRL with the Freight Depot Collectors. SS Brandon Larsonist of the CYL's Freeplat Wicked Goods was the #3 overall pick by Jamaica Plain. The Red Rockets will send Larsonist to the BMU to start his career with the Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks. Fourth overall was CF Eden Babz of the Weymouth Locksmiths. Easy Town has sent Babz to their MML team, the Danvers Sonics. Cambridge finished out the Top 5 picks by taking 1B Jimmy-James Sessoms from the CYL's Marlborough Mingunners. Scouts believe Sessoms could be an all-time power hitter, and the Coursers are sending him to the BMU's Sandy Coves Freaks. As mentioned above, pitchers were attractive throughout the 1st round. In all, pitchers went 1st, 2nd, 15th (Melvin Terminator to Bunker Hill), 19th (Jared Porch to FHE), 20th (Aaron Noluh to Fort Hagen), 22nd (Tiny de Grande to Vault 81), 24th (Felix Robles to Nahant), 25th (Sheldon Mayoral to Roxbury), and 26th (Meribrand Docybuck to Egret). There were no huge surprises in the 1st Round with every player selected expected to be at the top of the draft. However, there were some surprising risers and droppers in other rounds. In the 2nd Round, the Atom Cats selected 1B Hulk Seepley of the Harvard University Crimson as the 41st overall pick. Seepley has great clubhouse characteristics, but he is a questionable pick that high in the draft. Scouts see his ceiling as being an average 1B, which would make him around 14th or 15th-best at his position should he reach that ceiling. CF Dude Lebowski out of South Charles Bank was the 21st pick of the round by Oberland. Scouts see him as a 1st-round talent who has only been getting better in time. Despite there still being a ton of top talent, the Brews took 3B Homer Stepson out of Boston College as the first pick of the 3rd Round. Stepson was considered a lower pick by many. Scouts see Stepson as one of those players who can be decent but will probably reach his star in the MML with occasional injury fill-in roles in the CBO. One of several players with 1st-Round talent who fell is the last of those picked in the 3rd Round 1B/OF Getty Ivey out of the Marblehead Mess. Picked as the 80th-overall pick by Nahant, Ivey has a ton of power potential to be one of the top home run hitters. Scouts see him as a sure CBO player in the future. With the 4th pick of the 4th Round, Easy Town took SP Seymour Socks out of the Seekonk Quahog of the CYL. Socks has been often hurt in his CYL career, completely missing the 2309 and 2311 seasons. He will also not be available to start practicing until at least April. Scouts love his talent but do not like his endurance, which meant he was expected to go in the second half of the draft. Fort Hagen took 3B Richie Fireball out of Nauset Beach with the 104th-overall pick. Fireball has a good glove for either hot corner, and scouts think he could develop a steady enough bat to make him a regular. He already is CBO-ready with his eye and could develop into an efficient power hitter, mirroring his 27 and 25 home runs his last two seasons with the Lurk Hunters. In the 5th Round, Bunker Hill reached with the 127th overall pick when they selected SP Brandon Blackmopre out of Sudbury. Some scouts did not have Blackmore going before the 14th Round. Part of that reason was a disastrous senior season with the Celebs when he went 6-4 with a 6.22 ERA in 17 starts. Considered a 1st-Round talent, 3B Durn Wonderfloss of Malden of the CYL dropped to the 134th pick with Vault 81. Wonderfloss has been a rising prospect who scouts believe could be a middle-of-the-lineup hitter in time. The Dwellers definitely got the steal of the 5th Round. Top picks of Rounds 6-15: 6th - 2nd Pick: CF Tallahassee Vice, Glowing Sea 7th - 11th Pick: 1B Flip Solitary, Lexington 8th - 12th Pick: LF Loud Lyle Mouton, County Crossing 9th - 1st Pick - RP Shawn Dunn, University Point 10th - I feel like maybe the name thing isn't settled, as it's the second time it came up. That said, OOC, having watched some lore videos awhile back there's many that argue that the Gunners "weren't that bad" and it's really a missed opportunity that they were always hostile to the player character. Story wise, realistically, they should have been able to have been negotiated with.

I agree that more could have been done with the Gunners in the game as far as factions are concerned. They were a damn tough battle in all three of their major locations. I found Quincy to actually be one of the toughest places in the game because Gunners were firing away at all angles and some of them were souped up in their power armor. Anyway, I was not going to take away the Gunners name, and now the CBO has given its support for the name, too, since I closed out that story.

January 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 25 January 2312 2312 vs 2315 Power Rankings Expectations This offseason, we decided to take a deep dive to see where we think teams stand based on current OSA scouting reports and where teams may go. We understand that nothing is static, but it is a fun look at where we think teams will finish based on positional rankings of starters and within an organization, as well as how well we think teams will develop their minor leaguers in the next three years. Current Power Rankings Playoff Seeds in 2312 Based on Those Rankings NCA 1. Nordhagen Beach 2. Starlight 3. County Crossing 4. Bunker Hill 5. Salem 6. Fort Hagen SCA 1. University Point 2. Oberland 3. Vault 81 4. Roxbury 5. Egret 6. Spectacle Island Why will Nahant fall from #2 to out of the playoffs? Nahant is a talented team, but the #2 seed was probably the Celtics’ best chance to make a Sole Survivor Series in the next few years. There are a few position groups that are leading to the demise. First of all, age is a factor in two key positions: SS and C. While they have former greats in SS Jake Doucette and C Stuart Costantino, both players should be support players at this point in their careers instead of the starters. The Celtics also have one of the worst bullpens in the CBO entering the 2312 season, with the hopes that moving Nervous Patron (10-8, 5.05 in 29 starts) to the bullpen will help him and the team. The closer in 2311, Rob Hoode (41 SV, 3.41) is also hoped to be a decent pitcher out of the bullpen, but no one else steps up. Why will County Crossing be the second-best team after missing the playoffs? County Crossing’s pitching failed them in 2311. With the top-scoring offense, they were outscored in 2311 (700-714). With all four starters over 30 as well as the entire bullpen, who is to say the team’s pitching will recover? Well, we will. If there is any improvement at all, the Bloodbugs will win more shootouts than they lose. The offense is still stacked with the likes of RF Babs Rooth, 1B Zeldolph Violet, SS Cy Thompson, and 3B Plain Morris. The Bugs also have some emerging talent in the OF with Bumpy Redfern and Gremlin T. Squearfish ready to steal time from Kurt Kilgore and Any Why. Does the SCA look pretty much the same? Pretty much. University Point is again supposed to be #1 team, and Roxbury is probably still in the running for the championship. The only playoff change we see right now is Spectacle Island leapfrogging FHE at the bottom of the SCA playoffs standings. Also, we expect Oberland to move up in the standings from #6 last season to #2. The T-51s are loaded throughout most of their team with the only unit perhaps being weak being the OF. That’s because LF Wayne Lacy is starting to show his age (33) and LF/SP Zaire Inquisitor needing to rest often. Oberland may want to obtain the services of another young, versatile OF to help the championship run. 2315 Outlook Now, want to have an exercise in futility? Try predicting what the CBO will look like in three years. Yes, there will be some semblance of accuracy for teams with lots of prospects competing for just a few spots. We know there will be teams with aging stars who will need to begin reloading to be competitive within the next few years. We also know that some of those teams are going to be too willing to give up prime prospects with hopes that they can win sooner rather than later. With that stated, let’s rank the teams as to where we think they will be in 2315 based on their current talent along with the up-and-coming talent in their farm systems. Egret and Easy Town are the two teams we expect to stand above the others. Egret? Weren’t they the SCA’s #2 team in 2311? Yes, they were. We also felt that they were performing to their top talent before their time and will fall back to the mean in 2312 with their players still developing and sure to experience some growing pains. We saw in the playoffs that the Ninjas were not close yet. But we are saying they should be playing for a championship by 2315. Part of the reason we see Egret continuing to win is because the OSA scouts believe that their franchise is most likely to maximize their prospects’ talent. We can already see two young pitchers thriving for them in Hrye Caje and Lyle Pine. The only position that may be a concern is SS where Austin Engill at 34 is still the starter, but he will not be around in 2315. That and young SS Mill Walky is probably not the answer for the position. For Easy Town, they are expected to make the biggest jump of all teams. Currently ranked #26 in the preseason rankings, the Assaultrons have a bunch of guys they expect to be competing for and winning starting jobs. Some of those players include 2311 1st-round pick, CF Eden Babz, who could potentially be the Trons’ starter this season or at least move to a corner OF spot. We predict that he will be there. They also have another dynamic OF in Johntel Lechea who hit .310/6/31 as a rookie in 2311. Other young contributors by 2315 include C Jasha Varnikov, SS Swayne Pringle, 1B Tiger McQuaid, RF Aaron Mackey, and 3B Bo McBean. We are not sure yet where the Easy Town pitching will come from, but there are some prospects who could contribute by 2315. Current youngsters Scott Fuhr (25) and Hitman Medicman (22) may be the 3rd and 4th starters by then since neither seems to have the stuff to become an ace. SPs Tarzan Rogers (19) and Malcolm Stein (20) may have it, with 4th-round pick in 2311, Seymour Socks (18), being a highly volatile possibility to break into the rotation by 2315. The Imminent Downfalls of Nordhagen Beach, Roxbury, University Point, and Oberland They are high, but there is little chance they remain yearly championship contenders. That’s because they are teams built strongly on a heavy amount of aged veterans to lead them and a few youngsters to keep them fresh. The Party Boys have been the CBO’s best team at recognizing when it is time to move on from a veteran and to find a replacement that will outshine that departed veteran. Because of that, the Boys are still expected to be playoff contenders by 2315. There is no Beachboy Nut in the Nordhagen Beach farm system, but they have a few players who could still be good future starters in the CBO: Denaria Kee, Dixie Williams, Eddie Housey, and Mihai Comanita among them. The Boys also have four young guys who will probably rule the roost by this season: 3B Jacob Tarberry, C Clownie Blammo, LF Gorgeous DiGiacomo, and 1B Mountainside Rockhand. The middle of the IF is aging but there are no good options currently with the team. The same is true at CF behind Maxx Murtagh. A couple guys could compete to overtake Young Goodman and Jonathan Angelou, including Bipp Islander (19), Jim Fry (24), and Demon Serafin (21). Based on the current Roxbury roster, only two guys will be under 30 and are expected to be key contributors in 2315: SP Oliver Oil and CL Professor Harriel. In the lineup, the only guys who may still be with the Rad Sox by 2315 are 2B Emerald Sapphire (27) and LF Sum Downie (29). Otherwise, the Sox’s 2311 championship was likely their last best shot for a decade. It does not mean they cannot repeat in 2312, but with most of the roster well over 30, the Rad Sox will need to reload before they are the best team in the CBO again. Like Nordhagen Beach, University Point seems to be a team that is always playing for a league championship. Interestingly, the Deathclaws have never repeated as the Minutemen League champions with their league titles coming in 2301, 2303, 2305, 2307, 2309, and 2311. Since it’s 2312, it must be another team’s turn despite us picking the Claws to win it all in 2312. By 2315, though, we expect the Deathclaws to regularly start finishing below .500. Part of that is going to be the inevitable retirements of aged stars 1B Barker Cocoa (33), CF Aesed Hayjen (34), RF Tomas Jones (34), and LF Chris Hirshfield (33) along with the rest of their lineup other than SS Rock Rampage (22). They will also be down all four starters: SP Tony Bertha (35), Joey Dimes (34), Alex Alexson (32), and Lawdog Whipple (32). There are almost no starting pitchers in the minors, with a few positional players who can step up though at a lesser value in 1B Chris Neverson (19) or Eddie Furnace (17), RF Wee Willy Warrington (24), C Sparky Henderson (19) or Slitter Faith (18), and LF Javen the Raven Coleman (19). Oberland may be in the worst shape of the four powerhouses mostly because scouts do not like the chances of most of their minor league players being CBO-ready by 2315. Four players who they do expect to play in the CBO are P Chemmix Tailorman (22) who may be a starter or closer, 1B Bull Lozano (17), 2B Odd Todd Walker (17), and LF Dude Lebowski (17). Other players still expected to contribute by 2315 include LF/SP Zaire Inquisitor (26), 2B Da Game (29), 3B Joe Malone (29), SS Stormin Normin MacDonald (27), and RF Orcin Cardinal (29). As you can see, though, most of those guys will be over 30 by 2315.

Huh, I'll believe it when I see it, but the fall of the Boys would indeed be something. I feel like we may be Lucy with the Football with all our predictions, but maybe the big reshuffle is indeed just around the bend.

First-round players are almost automatic to make it to the CBO. After the first round, though, teams need to be able to find gems to turn around their fortunes. So, to simplify the formulas I used to arrive at these rankings, if everything is in a vacuum (prospects develop at their expected rates, there are no imbalanced trades of veterans for useless prospects, and there are no bad dice rolls by me or the AI), then this could be the expectations. What I think will happen is that some teams will have hard falls like Diamond City and Fort Hagen did while some other teams are going to continue to reload and have better "luck" in player development. You mentioned Nordhagen Beach. With no interference from me, and looking through my changes log, no beneficial events for their minor league players, they are still getting players who have high positive volatility. C Clownie Blammo was a 6th-round pick. He is currently the CBO's 6th-rated catcher. 1B Mountainside Rockhand was a 1st-round pick (14th overall in 2306) but has developed into the CBO's 11th-best 1B. In their current minor league system, they only have two players that are supposed to develop into good CBO players: SP Dixie Williams and 1B Pistol Holder. I have a feeling, though, based on the past, that there are some hidden gems currently in their system. I have been a long-time OOTP player, so I know the OSA ratings do not tell the full story. Even in my current "god mode," I still do not have scouting set to 100% because I want to be surprised that "heroes" emerge. The OSA scouts tell me part of the story, but there are still other dynamics about the game system that make their scouting unreliable. I like that. I am also a fairness god who wants every team to have their day. This league is not the same as creating a league with my home-town team as a part of the league. I am the creator of a world where I want to love every team equally. I also am more immersed in the visuals of the league, so sometimes I do find myself positively rooting for the logos/uniforms/color combinations I like better. The ones I thoroughly dislike I change: Egret Scrappers, East Boston Prep Assaultrons, Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers (Roxbury Rad Sox). Then I like them. The story was also meant to propel a few deep dives of some programs and what they need to do to change their fortunes. I would like to feature a few teams with a few stars and then a bunch of junk to see what they may have coming up that can make them championship competitors.

January 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 29 January 2312 Nuka Cup Tournament Announcement The 2312 Nuka Cup Tournament will be held from March 2-28 with all 28 CBO teams competing for the crown. University Point won the last two Nuka Cups and will host one of the four regionals this year. Hosts are the four final teams in the playoffs ranked 1-4: Roxbury, Nordhagen Beach, University Point, and Starlight. There is one change to this year's tournament with the bottom six seeds having to play one "play-in" series where the losers are eliminated. Seeds 2 will take on Seeds 7, 3 will take on 6, and 4 will take on 5. The winning three teams per region will then go on to play with the host team in a four-team double-elimination bracket. Roxbury Regional (in seeded order): Roxbury, Fort Hagen, FHE, County Crossing, Atom, Malden, and Glowing Sea. Nordhagen Beach Regional: Nordhagen Beach, Vault 81, Salem, Quincy, Lexington, Jamaica Plain, and Cambridge. University Point Regional: University Point, Nahant, Oberland, Bunker Hill, Goodneighbor, Concord, and Southie. Starlight Regional: Starlight, Egret, Sunshine Tidings, Spectacle Island, The Slog, Diamond City, and Easy Town. Feature: Lexington Synths As the sole original team to never have made the playoffs since the inception of the full CBO in 2298, the Lexington Synths are a strange franchise, to say the least. Set in one of the largest settlements of the Commonwealth, the Synths are a team that has fans eager to see the team play but also unable to see the team win. Lexington has not had a winning season since 2299 when it finished 57-51 and 4th place in the Institute League. That season also marked the only season that the Synths finished above .500 in the CBO. They were 36-24 in 2297, winning the Institute League that season, but that season does not count as part of the CBO history. Coming off a 60-70 season, the Synths also appear to be far off on the path to being a competitive team in 2312. In terms of runs scored, Lexington was 11th in runs scored and 10th in runs allowed in the NCA. The current roster is also not drowning in talent like some teams with OSA only rating three players in the upper tier of CBO players in terms of talent: SP Ahsoka Tano (8-10, 3.67), SP Chase Wede (11-9, 3.62), and 1B Eugene Jeep (.342/30/94). There are only two other players under 30 on the roster currently rated above average: RP Closecall Hubb and CL Rube Pane. As far as what it will take for Lexington to become a competitive team, we are calling 2315 the beginning of the swing up. The Synths currently have the fourth-rated farm system with four prospects in the Top 100: 3B Tommy Whitetiger (2nd), SS Geralt Rivia (30th), 1B Freenow Sullivan, and CF Packs Ton Kling (54th). Additionally, Lexington has a number of players that the OSA rates as having CBO starting potential. 19-year-old LF Grayson Topps appeared in 27 games for the Synths last season, batting .245/2/10. It is possible he takes the starting role over 34-year-old LF Gee Force this season. Others wth good potential include SP Gobbler Core, 1B Flip Solitary, 2B Qhoriun Halfhand, 2B Sigh Young, 3B Tarry Chik, LF Speedy Bugg, LF Clean Blake Dean, LF Red Roughing, LF Mandirali Tasilova, and 2311 1st-Round pick CF Campy Madrid who will probably vault to their #1 prospect once the 2312 updated scouting ratings come out. Based on the abundance of outfield prospects, Lexington GM Kevin Badluck may want to make it a priority to move some of those prospects for serviceable pitching prospects. Badluck has been improving the CBO team each year, so several moves could put Lexington on the brink of the playoffs. We think, however, patience will be Lexington's virtue with too many good players coming up through the system not to find eventual success. Of course, entering their fourth year with the Synths, Badluck and manager Fourth Wall may want to start winning now so that they have a job once their team does start to turn it around. The 2312 Lexington Synths probably will not be a good team, but we do foresee a day when the Synths see more than just their mugs and t-shirts in every Super Duper Mart across the Commonwealth; they also will one day see Synths championship banners, too. CBO Transactions Monday, January 29th , 2312 The Lexington Synths traded 19-year old minor league 3B Juu Racetrack and a 9th round draft pick to the Concord Radstags, getting 23-year old LF Speedy Bugg, 17-year old minor league SS Qhoriun Halfhand, 19-year old minor league RHP Diesel O'Neal, and a 5th round draft pick in return. February 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 5 February 2311 CBO Feature: Malden Grognaks Looking at the four expansion teams, we have rated Malden as the most likely to succeed earliest, though we are putting that time for success after 2315. They were also the first expansion team to finish out of last place, outpacing Brotherhood League opponents, the Easy Town Assaultrons by a game in 2311, to finish in sixth place in the league. One stat that stood out to us as an anomaly was the stat that Malden led the NCA in, Bullpen ERA (4.34). No one in their bullpen stands out or is scouted as one of the top relievers in the league, so it was a surprise that the Grognaks had such numbers through 130 games. Three relievers with ERAs below 4.00 were Justin Bridges (2-1, 3.19), Ponda Baba (8-2, 3.69), and Dingo Brown (0-1, 3.81). Baba was tied for 2nd on the team in wins. The lineup does not have much going for it overall, but there is some young talent there. 1B Andy Stamey is the unquestioned team leader with young prospects 2B Breha Queen, 3B Prince Campbell, SS Noctyss Eternus, and RF Bucky Tampa already expected to contribute to the team. Malden is currently ranked 13th in their minor league system with four players in the Top 100 prospects: RF Keepuh Knockin (39th), SS Sean Whitfield (40th), CF Dump Truck Matthews (52nd), and LF Inge Sixfingers (71st). Other prospects who scouts think will one day be in the CBO are CL Uncle Robbie Robinson, CF Taffy Dare, 2B Homer Chronicler, RP Chockablock Business, 1B Raul Strikes, 2B Kevin Deux-Gas, LF Matt Batts, and 1st-round pick in 2311, RF Floren Habern. CCBL Players to Watch for CBO Draft The new class of the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League is about to enter their freshman season. Before they do, we would like to look at five players who have played one or more seasons in the CCBL and what their prospects for the pros may be. 1. SS Finnan Hunt, SO, Stonehill College - Hunt burst onto the scene in his freshman season last year, hitting .383 with six home runs, 26 RBI, and 54 stolen bases for the Skyhawks. Scouts project him as a 2B who could go in the 1st round when he declares for the draft. Scouts have raved about his smooth, natural swing that they think will regularly launch him above .350 in the CBO once he hits full potential. He is super quick, too, so a high average or OBP will lead to him challenging for batting and stolen base titles for his team. Some scouts think he could go #1 overall if he declared for the draft this season. 2. 3B Donovan Mackey, SO, Northeastern University - The Huskies' three-bagger had a good first season in the CCBL, hitting .388 with 16 home runs and 44 RBI. Scouts have rated Mackey as having 1st-round talent and project him to be an all around high average-OBP-OPS hitter. He also can play anywhere in the infield, though he is projected to be a good corner IF as his main position(s). He can also jump to the outfield in a pinch. 3. CF Brandon Brown, SO, Holy Cross - The Crusaders' CF hit .370 with 25 home runs, 57 RBI, and 23 SB. Brown is speedy and rangy, showing natural instincts as an OF at the next level, though he may be best suited as a LF when he gets his callup. Scouts think he will be a decent hitter at the next level but see him maximizing his skills by bulking up some and concentrating on power hitting. 4. 2B Jack of Diamonds Cordero, JR, Holy Cross - Another Crusaders star, Cordero hit .441/22/73 as a Sophomore, showing that he is a talented hitter. He is also a versatile IF whose best position is probably 2B because of arm strength. While his home run numbers are impressive, scouts see him more as a high average/OBP guy than a high slugging guy at the next level. Still, given the right situation, he could develop into a power threat, too. 5. 1B Sheedy Smith, SO, Plymouth University - Smith was a terror for the Pioneers as a freshman, finishing second in voting for the Top Collegiate Hitter Award after batting .441/28/78. Scouts love his discipline at the plate, allowing him to maximize his at bats. They project him to be a good all-around hitter with the expectation that his home run numbers will land him in the middle of a CBO lineup. He will never be the best 1B in the league, but he also will never be the worst. CYL Players to Watch for CBO Draft Looking at the CBO draft, there are 11 senior (draft-eligible) players we see as true 1st-round talent heading into the 2312 season. Of those 11, here are the five we think are most adapted for quicker success. 1. 1B Topher Spark, Pawtucket Paw Sox - Spark is a dynamic hitter who will be projected to hit in the middle of the lineup. However, despite being a large kid, Spark also has a graceful, even swing that could lead to a .350+ batting average in the CBO. He is still growing into his body, so we will see where he lands, but we are expecting this guy to be somewhere in the top of the draft in 2312. 2. LF Fervus Dullus, Marblehead Mess - Dullus tried to reinvent himself during his junior year, using different techniques to generate more power. While there were a number of failures on his part, including watching his average drop from .344 to .262 and his strikeouts increase from 23 to 83. Dullus also saw a jump in power production. He upped his home runs from 9 to 19 and his extra-base hits from 16 to 35. Scouts see him as a cleanuo hitter prospect, so he will want to hit the weight room more his senior season in preparation for the draft. Those 19 homers are likely to be his second-best in his career as he will likely hit 25+ during his senior season. 3. RF Lipson Frank, Georgetown Scholars - Frank has already established himself as a top power hitter in the CYL hitting 24-30-28 in his first three seasons with the Scholars. Currently tied for 22nd all-time in the CYL in homers, Frank has a chance to catch the current all-time leader, Tobias Hoffman (118). With just 18 homers, Frank would become just the sixth player with 100+ career home runs: Hoffman, Jacob Tarberry (117), Family Sam Partridge (110), Syd Thriftstore (110), and Missile Crews (107). 4. SP Siltbean Ferguson, Taunton Giants - Ferguson enters his senior season looking to build on an already successful youth career. In his first three seasons, he has a career ERA of 1.76 which currently ranks him 1st all-time in the CYL. Right now, Jazz Delgado holds the career record of 2.26, meaning a third sub-2.00 season would land Ferguson at the top. He is also on pace to set the Hits/9 IP (5.56), Opp Avg (.176), Opp OBP (.258), and Opp OPS (.532) records. 5. SP Richard Burns, South Charles Bank Moonies - The high-velocity rightie, Burns has terrorized youth league hitter for three years. he has won at least 10 games all three seasons, with his 10 wins last season being his lowest after missing a few games due to injury. Should he hit his average of 12 wins this season, he would tie Paul Stains (48) for the all-time wins total. For active pitchers, Ferguson listed above is second with 30 wins. February 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 12 February 2311 CBO Feature: Glowing Sea Radscorpions The Glowing Sea Radscorpions are currently the lowest-rated of the four expansion teams, having finished 36-94 and 42-88 in their first two seasons. Though the Scorpions finished two games ahead of the Southie Brews as the 2311's bottom of the CBO standings, they are currently ranked 22nd in their farm system. Of course, that ranking will change when the 2312 scouting reports drop, but the Radscorpions have a long way to go before we expect them to play for titles. In terms of the 2311 team, Glowing Sea finished 14th in runs scored and 12th in runs allowed, leading to a losing combination. Glowing Sea's current ratings at pitcher are not dire, but the CBO starting staff ranks 28th in the CBO and 27th in overall SP rankings. The relievers, though, are rated 3rd among the CBO's top farm relievers. Looking at the current pitching staff, there are CBO-capable starters playing some who should not be in the CBO. That is the nature, though, of starting out as an expansion team. SP Taki Undertaker (5-16, 6.27) should be in the CBO, but maybe as a 4th pitcher. 3B/SP Quay Swimmer (5-15, 5.78) is probably the most-talented pitcher, but he is also not ace material. The current 3rd and 4th pitchers, Ryan Dennislynch (3-17, 7.22) and Marion Cobratea (1-5, 6.26) should not be starters in the CBO. In the bullpen, there is a collection of solid, not great, relievers. It can work for the Scorpions now, but by 2315, we should see much more talent here. ERAs were OK with Q.T. Pai (2-0, 3.16), Keith Bralley (0-3, 3.72), Carlos Crayon (3-3, 4.04), and Thrifty Tony Malacara (20 SV, 4.08) leading the way. In the lineup, there is some young talent still developing. RF Naga Arakaki (.321/27/66) seamlessly transitioned from the Concord youth team to the Radscorpions after being drafted 2nd overall in 2310. He also won the Red Rocket Rookie Award in 2311. Other youngsters who found their way onto the 2311 roster include CF Enigma Montgomery, LF Shad the Lad Lambisky, and SS Packrat Bowlman. 1B Casey Roux (.262/22/62) offered the best veteran presence for the 2311 team. Looking at prospects, there are some who will be contributing sooner rather than later. Either Brunwulf Freewinter or Fura Morrard should take over for Roux at 1B when he is done. C Timelord Marvel should start taking starts away from veteran C Garth Invader by the middle of this season. Some other prospects in lower classifications include SS Ripley Durham who could earn a spot on the CBO roster. 2311 second-overall pick SP Alex Language will need some time to develop, but scouts see him being the staff ace as early as 2313. CL Mar Gotfenning, 1B Johan Honus, LF Tallahassee Vice, RF Big Shot Billups, and RF Pie Trainer are all listed by scouts as future CBO players. CCBL Freshman to Watch for 2312 The new class of the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League has now entered their freshman season. Let's take a look at five freshman who could have an immediate impact on the CCBL. 1. LF Pop Dylan, Commonwealth University - Dylan is the highest-rated freshman entering the 2312 season based on potential. He his lean now, but he shows the ability to put a pop on the ball, which will lead to multiple home runs. Scouts have noticed his aggressiveness at the plate, including seeking early-count swings that will sometimes get him in trouble against better pitchers. 2. C Moon Ducote, Quincy College - Ducote comes in expecting to compete for the starter position with the Masons. Scouts see him as a rare power-hitting catcher for the CBO which will increase his prospects when he declares for the draft. He also is a patient hitter and should have a decent OBP throughout his career. 3. LF Leaky Lou Biert, Harvard University - Biert is a good hitter but rather sluggish on the basepaths and in the outfield, which might land him eventually at 1B. Scouts love his ability to recognize pitches and lay off junk. While he may never lead the league in hitting, he is expected to develop into a solid contributor to his team wherever he ends up in the lineup. 4. 2B Fion Black, Mass Atlantic University - Black can play pretty much any infield position, though he will probably play on the right side of the infield the rest of the way unless he vastly improves his arm strength. In the batter's box, scouts love his slight-angle swing, thinking it gives Black the ability to find gaps in the outfield. They think he could be a high AVG-OBP-OPS player. 5. 3B Halep Gutteridge, Nahant Marine Institute - One thing that stuck out to scouts during the Freshman Showcases for recruiting players was Gutteridge's hustle. He does not seem as natural, but he takes a cerebral approach to the game. Scouts think his intellect will serve him well in understanding situations both as a batter and fielder. He showed great ability to recognize pitches and he has enough drive to knock balls out of the park. He is a big guy already, so added muscle may make him a beast. CYL Top Incoming Freshmen With the incoming class of freshmen awaiting the start of the 2312 season, we will now look at those freshmen who could have an immediate impact on the league, according to OSA scouts. Here are the Top 5. 1. SP Mike Searocker, Lowell Frags - Scouts raved about the Showcase measurables that Searocker put up and are eager to see what he does in his freshman season with the Frags. He has five pitches with three that scouts think are already CBO-ready: changeup, curve, and slider. he is expected to be a high-control pitcher who will force a lot of frustrating swings hit at infielders. 2. SP Rick Green, Sandwich Screamers - While not as sure of an ace by OSA as Searocker, Green still looks the part as a future CBO pitcher. He is a finesse pitcher who relies on junk to confuse and frustrate hitters. All of his pitches have good movement, making it hard to pinpoint the sweet spot on his pitches. 3. LF Ice Cream Horton, Wellfleet Tarberries - Horton has two skills he brings into his career: spray hitting and spray fielding. He is projected at LF with the Tarberries, but he has enough range and skills to play all three OF positions. He also has a powerful swing that will become more effective as he grows into his body. Scouts see him as being a middle-of-the-lineup hitter who will eventually hit 30+ homers in the CBO. 4. LF Buzzy Poulakis, Nauset Beach Lurk Hunters - Poulakis can also play anywhere in the OF but will probably settle in a corner OF spot. He is good at putting the bat on the ball, even on junk pitches, so he can be valuable in working the count and tiring a pitcher. Should he develop fully, expect him to be a .333+ hitter in the CBO. 5. 2B Cajun Darri, Saugus Launchers - Darri will star at 2B, but he needs to work on his glove to stay there. Scouts do not think he has a lot of capacity as a fielder, but they like what he can do with the bat. He can be effective at working the count to draw walks, and he can also make pitchers pay for their mistakes. CBO Transactions Monday, February 12th , 2312 Egret Ninjas: Signed 3B John Summers. Saturday, February 10th , 2312 Concord Radstags: Signed RF Chief McGowan. The Concord Radstags traded 23-year old 2B Seemly Sam Tucker, a 9th round draft pick, and a 14th round draft pick to the Salem Witch Hats, getting 27-year old C Plump Jack Korson and 19-year old minor league 2B Tome Humphries in return. Friday, February 9th , 2312 Goodneighbor Hancocks: Signed LF Greg De Groot. Thursday, February 8th , 2312 Nahant Celtics: Released 1B Lache Treadwell. Nahant Celtics: Released RP Green Gene Villeplay. Lexington Synths: Signed SS Julian Roughneck. Concord Radstags: Signed RF Sam Noob. Wednesday, February 7th , 2312 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud: Released 3B Tuck Wilson. Egret Ninjas: Signed 3B Name Olarti. Concord Radstags: Signed RF Slick Nick Henderson. Tuesday, February 6th , 2312 Goodneighbor Hancocks: Signed LF Matt Settler. Monday, February 5th , 2312 Glowing Sea Radscorpions: Released RP Grat Iancaer. Atom Cats: Signed RP Victor Numbclaw. Cambridge Coursers: Signed SP Josh Reliford. Diamond City Swatters: Signed free agent SP Veni Vidi Johnson to a minor league contract. The Bunker Hill 75ers traded 22-year old minor league CF Sardar Agiashvili to the Concord Radstags, getting 24-year old RHP Greez Dritus in return.

February 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 19 February 2311 CBO Feature: Spectacle Island Reapers When people think of the Spectacle Island Reapers and their predecessor in the CBO, the Warwick Mirelurks, they do not think of them being a bad franchise. However, when compared to the rest of the SCA and not counting the expansion franchises, the Reapers have the worst winning percentage (.451) of them all. The team has been much better in recent years, though they have missed the playoffs the past three seasons, including being the first team out in 2311. Still, this current version should be good. Let's tell you how 2315 is when they can be competitive, though. The Reapers seem to have a good lineup, but really it was four guys who guided their team to the 9th-most runs scored in the SCA: 1B Homestay Lovetap (.302/41/106), LF Zod Gaycey (.331/29/99), 3B Cave Dweller Bourgeois (.260/21/72), and RF Dan Squirrel (.290/17/67). The rest of the lineup struggled at times, and the Reapers will need to significantly upgrade the lineup to compete. There are two good veteran catchers currently on the roster in Biddy Swenson and Knicker Trout though neither will light up with the bat. SS Poncho Picasso is a great defensive shortstop and can sometimes use the bat. CF Seer Ladybird is a good defensive outfielder but cannot hit. Looking at young players on the roster who could contribute in the batter's box are 2B Cyclone Betancourt and IF Wizard of Oz Smith. The pitching finished 4th in runs allowed, but the news of SP Jalep Temper being attacked by a deathclaw was devastating news for a team that could use him in 2312. Temper may be ready by 2313. Chris Teddybear (9-2, 2.45) returns as the ace, but he is 36 and susceptible to injury. CL John Irwin at 34 is the only other good pitcher on the roster. There are not really any young arms currently looking to step up on the aging pitching staff. Red Eagle currently with Clifton (MML) is probably the best bet to pitch a young guy in 2312. As far as the farm system is concerned, there are players that OSA scouts think will help out the currently 19th-ranked farm system. The Reapers' top three prospects are all Top 100 prospects: Smith (25th), SP Red Raider (43rd), and SS Nippy Ben Nippolt (84th). Some other young talent in the minors who could make waves include 1B Rolly Thumbs, LF Sandy Shaw, CF Aaron Annis, RP B.J. Blankenship, 1B Rad Rob Alba, 2B Malt Falcon, 3B Steven Milelamb, and OF 1st-Round pick Esau Babz. Sunshine Tidings Changes Their Look The Sunshine Tidings Chemists have changed their look for 2312, dropping the rad green color used by some other teams, including fellow Institute League team Concord, in favor of a darker green color. Sunshine Tidings outfielders Family Sam Partridge and Hickory Dockery modeled the home and away look. The home jersey features the chemist logo on a white pin-striped jersey. The away jersey is a yellow with the word 'Co-op' on the front. The settlement's full name is the Sunshine Tidings Co-op. The hat is now a green with the settlement initials 'ST' on the front. CCBL Bullpen Aces There are three top-rated pitchers in the bullpen entering the 2312 season. These are guys that do not have the stamina or pitch variety to start but will help their teams to victory. 1. CL Toto Yanagi, SO, Revere College Riders - Yanagi is a sidearm pitcher who relies on a combination of fastball and changeup to fool batters. He was relatively effective, striking out 35 batters in 36.1 innings in 2311. He also saved 22 games in 24 attempts. Scouts love his consistency in his pitches and think the only thing that could stop him from being CBO-ready would be a series of injuries. He is rated by scouts as a CBO closer for his ceiling. 2. RP Boozy Bankman, FR, Boston College Eagles - Bankman came to the Eagles from Vermont, where he was recruited from a traveling youth team there. His workouts must have gone well with Boston College because they signed him early in the recruiting process, bypassing a few CYL players trying to break into the bullpen. Scouts think he could work his way into eventually being a starting pitcher but know that he currently utilizes just a fastball and changeup. 3. CL Redmond Brooks, FR, CIT Engineers - Another freshman, Brooks is expected to pitch from the bullpen his freshman year and then work his way into the starting rotation once he can show solid enough stamina. He has a good array of pitches and does a good job of following batters enough to get the whiffing at pitches. Scouts currently project him as a reliever at the next level, but like his chances of finding success. CYL More Senior Prospects Here are three more seniors who are due to go decently high in the 2312 CBO Draft: 1. 1B Newt Jordan, Lexington Minuteboys - Jordan finally grew into his body for his junior season, increasing from 14 home runs to 31 home runs for the Minuteboys. Scouts love his eye at the plate and how he punishes bad pitches over the plate. He sometimes watches pitches, though, because he tends to make up his mind on what pitch he guessed before the windup. Scouts like his power and think he is a top prospect if he learns to control the entire at-bat. 2. 3B I.C. Reader, Marblehead Mess - Reader will be trying to change positions in 2312 to make himself more draft-enducing come Bovember. As a hitter, he has been consistent in his hitting, including three seasons of 21, 23, and 25 home runs. That puts him currently at a tie for 59th all-time, but he could see himself climbing the ladder toward the Top 10 in 2312. Scouts believe he could work himself into being a cleanup hitter in the CBO. 3. RF Henry Hampster, South Charles Bank Moonies - Hampster has been slow to get playing time, but once he got chances to start in 2311, he took advantage. In his junior season, he finished with a .308/23/53 batting line. Scouts love his power potential and also see him as a potential cleanup hitter in the lineup.
