[Apologies. Early morning meetings led to a late morning report.]

Six teams with a +.640 winning pct, and two over .700. Looks like a good battle shaping up in OL S403.

Performance of the day might have been Bluffton's Cy Young in the Boomerangs second game of the season against Cedar Rapids (non-OL). Young went the distance for the no-no, giving up only 1 walk in a 3-0 victory.

Seattle shuffle to the top after getting off the mark. There's an unpredictable vibe about this league.

Dishnet raised the subject again not so long ago, which reminded me how cool it could be, and the Friend List issues got me thinking about it again. Who knows, maybe it's more doable now.

However, if OL could create it's own setup, it might not be such a cakewalk, so I thought it may be worth discussing what we'd each like in a 'custom' OL - if such a thing were possible.

A suggestion of mine would be to scrap divisions and playoffs, but others might hate the idea of that!

awhile back I played around with a custom pro/rel league (similar to how the EPL works), with 5 different tiered leagues, 30 teams in each league (no divisions), etc.... top team earned promotion, and had a playoff of 2-5 to earn the second promotion spot.... could be a fun alternative to the standard setup

Diamond

PT play in Diamond has really become an RNG fest, but that's not so bad for OL which continues to provide something extra! (Although not for Paxville this week...)

Nowhere are sitting pretty, but things could change quickly with the 3 rivals only playing each other!

The Mundys move top after a solid first half. I'm saying nothing about their chances going forward...

I like that there's still a lot of diversity in Gold.

Interesting that you've already played around with stuff like that, and definitely along the lines I'm thinking. I think the numbers in each tier may need to be kind of dynamic, in order to match teams best. It might be interesting to come up with some kind of weekly ranking system which could help with matching teams up? (Edit: Doh! With only OL teams, the tables would clearly rank the teams well enough , so it would just be a case of deciding how best to divide the numbers up between the tiers.)

HelthWyzer creating some distance from second-place Coney Island.

Seattle going 4-4 was good for Port Ruppert.

HelthWzyer remained solid, but was overtaken by Coney Island as the Warriors enjoyed a great month of play in OL S403.

P400 situation

So, as it currently stands, Cary may or may not be back in diamond next season. We are currently in the last wild card position in perfect league AC (and our pythagorean record is 3 wins better than our actual record), BUT.... we have a tough schedule remaining; with 16 of our 28 games left away and with the pct. of opposing teams over .500.

As a result, the "pennant chase" tab only gives us a 37% chance of making playoffs. I will let everyone know tomorrow what happens.

You may be missed in Diamond next week, but good luck anyway

OK, so Nowhere swept Knockemstiff 3-0 in the middle of the Shiners 11-game losing streak, then took 5 of 6 from Silly! The Fat Lady is being wheeled out for a quick performance...

Are Paxville eligible for the spoons (for 2 in a row)?

Seattle really bottomed out in August to fall away and be replaced by Waffletown as the most likely to challenge Port Ruppert. The Mundys had a slight hiccup losing a series each to Algoma and Waffletown, but now have 16 games to potentially put a stamp on things. Waffletown only have 7 games remaining which could be to their advantage. Much can still happen!

I took a sneak peak and hope that, with 10 of the 16 at home, the Mundys won't pull another late season fade, as they did last season and at least three or four other OL seasons in PT 22. Not only did my bronze teams end up off by themselves, but they were put in the same division so my hope for another world series tiff is off the table. Of course, they do each get 19 games against an OL team.

if Waffletown keeps up their pattern this season, they will have a mediocre month of September and fall off the pace... hoping they buck the trend and have a solid finish, as they've closed to just a game off the WC pace...

won't be getting any late season additions (barring a spectacular pack pull) so the lineup is as good as it's going to get... working on the PT23 loyalty missions for the Brooks Robinson (knocked out part 2.... 3 cards left to finish the other).

Any OL purist would enjoy seeing the Mundys and Syrups going at it down the stretch

With 1 game left against Brooklyn, Seattle have won 6 games in August! Got a nice surprise this morning, though, when I snapped up the new Edgar that I didn't know existed!

HelthWyzer and Coney Island are in a pitched battle for the title heading into the final month. The Warriors maintain a 2-game lead on the Crakes, with a quick look at the remaining games giving the edge to the boys from Brooklyn. HelthWyzer's big challenge will come from a series against Sonora.

The OL has a good opportunity to capture most of the playoff spots, and send four teams to Gold. Six OL teams are currently slated for Bronze.

Regarding P400

Well, the regular season just ended and I am in a three-way tie for the last wildcard spot. So we will have additional games to see who gets the last spot.

It is the first time that I have been competitive in perfect league, so even if I don't make the playoffs I am still happy with my team: especially since my Pythagorean record is still three wins higher than I have.
