The results and coming schedule are below. Roxbury Regional FHE vs County Crossing: CC 6-0. CC 8-7, CC 7-2 County Crossing vs Fort Hagen: CC 3-2, FtH 26-5, CC 7-1, FtH 7-5 County Crossing battled as the #4 seed all the way to the end, finally succumbing to the Silver Shroud in the final game of the regional. In the championship series, the team from the Winner's Bracket starts with a 1-0 advantage. That means Fort Hagen won the series, 3-2. The most impressive offensive performance of the tournament came in the second game when the Shroud busted out for 26 runs. April 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 April 2312 CCBL Analysis We are now entering our second month of the collegiate season with several teams emerging as the beasts of the 2312 season. Conference leaders through 20 games of the 60-game college season are the Northeastern University Huskies (16-3) in the BCAC and the Mass Atlantic University Suns (13-7) and Greenfield College Greenies (13-7) atop the MassCon. The Huskies' great results so far have been the result of great pitching, allowing just 69 runs to lead all of the CCBL. Starters Larry Gomez (5-0, 1.67), Donegal Ward (5-0, 1.17), and Franky Palace (3-0, 1.32) have all been dominant so far. CL D.C. Washington (10 SV, 0.00) has yet to give up a run in 10 appearances. Mass Atlantic has also used its starting pitching to help it win games. The Suns' top three starters have also been great: Jafar Khassanov (3-1, 2.25), Licky Jones (4-0, 1.91), and Jail Mikkola (3-1, 3.66). Greenfield has been the offensive guru, leading the CCBL in runs scored (147). Top hitters include 3B Moktar Wakihuri (.431/6/22), Justin Hoskins (.431/5/21), and Alistair Brown (.403/6/19). CCBL Players of the Month Hitter - When Voodoo Sycamore stepped up to the plate in March he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Batter of the Month award. The young Quincy College first baseman posted a .441 batting average with 12 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 24 runs. Sycamore also worked pitchers for 12 walks to post a .537 on-base percentage. Pitcher - Larry Gomez of Northeastern had an outstanding March with a 5-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League. He topped off the month with a 1.67 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 43 innings, fanned 35 and held opposing teams to a .199 average. CYL Analysis The CYL is 13 games into the season but did not play enough games yet to have players of the month. Still, we would like to point out some standout players so far this season. In the North Region, Diamond City's Merlin Hodges (.442/10/20) is atop or near the top in the major offensive categories. In the South Region, Sweet Admiral (.396/10/24) of Andrew Station is atop 11 offensive categories to be the top offensive player there. For pitcher, the NR's top pitcher has been Saugus' Swatter Gillette (4-0, 0.56) in four starts. In the SR, Coventry's Frenzy Guava (3-0, 0.65) has been our top pick. In the standings, division leaders are the Marlborough Minigunners (9-4), Concord Iceboys (9-4), Saugus Launchers (11-2), Circle Jerks (9-3-1), Woodlawn Gnomes (11-2), Dennis Menaces (10-3), Plymouth Hunters (9-4), and Andrew Station (10-3).

April 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 8 April 2312 PAM's Predictions: Nahant-University Point Top Teams PAM has foreseen the results of the 2312 season, and this season she predicts the Nahant Celtics and University Point Deathclaws to be the #1 seeds in the NCA and SCA, respectively. PAM sees the Celtics finishing with the CBO's best record at 81-49 in a packed NCA. In fact, PAM sees nine NCA teams to finish above .500, while only five SCA teams are predicted to do so. The Claws are picked to finish with the same record as both Oberland and Vault 81 of the Railroad League but to win the tiebreakers. University Poiint is also picked to have the largest league advantage, finishing 11 games ahead of Goodneighbor. Based on PAM's picks, these would be the seeds in the 2312 playoffs: NCA 1. Nahant 2. Fort Hagen 3. Salem 4. Bunker Hill 5. Starlight 6. The Slog SCA 1. University Point 2. Oberland 3. Vault 81 4. Egret 5. FHE 6. Goodneighbor Should PAM's predictions hold, the two teams in the 2311 Sole Survivor Series, Roxbury and Nordhagen Beach, would both miss the playoffs. It would be the first time the Party Boys missed the playoffs in CBO history. They have been participants in all 14 seasons of the CBO. Their only non-playoff season was in the pre-CBO season of 2296. Both the Boys and Rad Sox are aging teams but still have a ton of talent. PAM's picks are expecting there to be major falloffs in production among the teams. We will look at top players below to see where they might have seen some drops in scouting numbers, part of PAM's prediction algorithm. Looking at top competitors for awards, in the NCA, the top hitting prospects are 1B Brian DeLong, Salem; RF Babs Rooth, County Crossing; RF Hurr Lee Reyes, Starlight; and 1B Kilometers Davis, The Slog. On the mound, the top contenders for the Vim! Pitcher Award are SP Lonely Gale, Nahant; SP Zack Million, Nahant; SP Jaa Thirtysix, Salem; and SP Doug Creep, Sunshine Tidings. In the SCA, the contenders for the Nuka Hitter Award are 1B Barker Cocoa, University Point; RF Aesed Hayjen, University Point; 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson, Oberland; and LF Tomas Jones, University Point. On the mound, the top contenders are SP Paul Stains, Diamond City; SP Hry Caje, Egret; SP Heaven Fontenot, Goodneighbor; and SP Scruffy Taguchi, Vault 81. Season Pass Association
15 April 2312 SPA-CBO Discuss Future As the 2312 Spring Training schedule begins, there are big talks about the future of baseball in Bradberton and Maine. While there have been no final decisions, CBO commissioner Nate Howard and Executive VP Jimmy LaRue have met with a contingent of executives around the Season Pass Association. Some of the terms discussed include the state of youth baseball outside of the Commonwealth Youth League. One problem is that the players from the Bradberton Boys League and the Maine Youth Leagues are not remaining on SPA rosters with the influx of many good undrafted free agents from the Commonwealth Youth League. Of the 12 players in the 2311 SPA Rookie Draft considered to be SPA-possible players, only four are currently on SPA teams: RP Magician Stea, (2nd round, 19th overall), RP High Sparrow Wallcrawler (2nd round, 30th overall), RP Edwin Echegoyen (5th round, 69th overall), and RP Nick Manne (4th round, 64th overall). Wallcrawler and Echegoyen are not with the teams that drafted them. The 2311 1st overall pick, SP Josty Penguin drafted by Acadia, is a free agent after the Acadians cut him. "We're having some money problems," Orange GM Jesse Radraine noted. "So we need the best players we can bring into the rookie league [NWLRL]. Our draft picks would just be at the end of the bench, so we want to level up the players already here or bring in better talent from the big youth league [CYL]." The CBO has proposed taking over the youth leagues and potentially distributing a second youth team in the Bradberton region. Next year, there will be an elite youth team in Bradberton, meaning the talent in the BBL will be even lower than it already is. "The truth is, we need the [CYL] to come to us and find a way to continue taking the scraps from that league," Radraine said. "We're seriously considering dropping the draft to save us a lot of scouting money that is being spent better around Boston." The commission has committed to a June 1 deadline of coming up with a plan on what will be done. Radraine thinks that the least will happen would be reconsidering the draft and how the players in the youth leagues could be a part of an overall association. "The answer may be to sell the youth league to the CBO," Radraine concluded.

There are surprises galore, including early unlikely ties at the top of the Brotherhood and Minutemen leagues, as well as three of four expansion teams currently above .500. Let's take a look at what has happened in the first 13 games. But first, the Power Rankings. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Oberland T-51s (146.4, ++) 2) The Slog Ghouls (134.6, +) 3) Salem Witch Hats (132.6, ++) 4) Diamond City Swatters (127.6, +) 5) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (126.6, -) 6) Bunker Hill 75ers (113.7, ++) 7) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (113.7, --) 8) Vault 81 Dwellers (113.7, -) 9) Easy Town Assaultrons (110.7, --) 10) Goodneighbor Hancocks (107.7, -) 11) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (102.8, ++) 12) Roxbury Rad Sox (102.8, ++) 13) Southie Brews (100.8, ++) 14) Atom Cats (97.8, --) 15) Cambridge Coursers (97.8, +) 16) Quincy Gunners (84.2, ++) 17) County Crossing Bloodbugs (82.2, ++) 18) Starlight Killers (81.2, --) 19) Concord Radstags (80.2, --) 20) Nahant Celtics (80.2, +) 21) University Point Deathclaws (78.2, --) 22) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (68.3, ++) 23) FHE Yao Guai (66.3, --) 24) Spectacle Island Reapers (50.4, -) 25) Egret Ninjas (38.6, ++) 26) Lexington Synths (34.6, -) 27) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (29.6, -) 28) Malden Grognaks (18.7, -) Brotherhood League Talk about topsy-turvy for the start of the season. Salem and The Slog are tied atop the league, while Nahant and Nordhagen Beach are below .500 and sitting in 5th and 6th place, respectively. Easy Town had the best 11-game start at 8-3 before losing their last two. Still, their 1st-round draft pick, CF Eden Babz (.456/1/11/11SB) jumped straight to the pros and has the CBO's top Batter WAR. Malden is the only expansion team that has not begun hot, holding onto the CBO's worst record at 2-11. The Grognaks are expected to be more competitive among the expansion teams, but that has not been the case. Even with two players in their lineup considered top 10 at their positions--1B Andy Stamey (.306/3/7) and 2B Breha Queen (.204/1/5)--the production on offense had been flat, ranking dead last in every category but stolen bases (13th with 4) and base running (12th at -4.4). Institute League With Fort Hagen atop the Institute League, followed closely by Bunker Hill, the IL looks to be on the expected track. Of course, with Cambridge in 3rd place and every other team below .500, including typical playoff contenders in Sunshine Tidings (3-10), the league may not be as typical after all. An early question could be, "What got into the Coursers to make them decent early?" Well, statistically speaking, not much. Cambridge is currently 9th in runs scored (55) and 14th in runs allowed (79). Being outscored by 24 runs in 13 games seems like a losing prospect. But looking at close games decided by three runs or less, the Coursers are 7-2. In one-run games, they are 5-0. Four of their six losses have been by five runs or more, leading to the disparity. Cambridge's best player so far has been RF Jim Geiger (.422/2/11). Minutemen League The ML also looks to be topsy-turvy to start 2312 with Goodneighbor and Jamaica Plain tied atop the league while University Point, Quincy, and Spectacle Island occupy the bottom of the standings. Just a game back of 1st place, the Southie Brews appear to be in the best position among expansion teams. Southie has had more success on offense, currently tied for 7th in runs scored (62). C Daub Buckle (.419/3/9) has had a fast start to the season. C/1B Carter Vinsanity (.417/5/8) has also been lights out in less action (four games appeared). Vinsanity broke the Southie record with three home runs on April 15 vs Spectacle Island and tied the runs (3) and RBI (6) team records. Railroad League Oberland has jumped out early to the CBO's top record at 10-3 while the defending champions, Roxbury, are tied for 4th with Glowing Sea. Egret was the last CBO team to win a game and currently has the SCA's worst record. For the Radscorpions, currently at 7-6, they are trying hard to be the most balanced of the expansion teams. With the 10th-most runs scored (55) and 9th-most allowed (63), that balance may not be there yet. Still, Glowing Sea's top two starting pitchers, Taki Undertaker (1-1, 2.55) and Veni Vidi Johnson (1-1, 3.00), have looked good so far. RF Naga Arakaki (.386/4/11) is continuing from his rookie season last season when he won the Red Rocket Rookie Award. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 15 - One of the league's most exciting young players, Brennan Colt-45 of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud earned himself North Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 23-year-old shortstop had a lofty .444 average (12-for-27), collecting 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 8 runs scored. Missile Crews demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Goodneighbor center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .542 average (13-for-24) with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. April 22 - Swinging a hot stick last week, Andy Dogleash picked up the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award today. The 32-year-old center fielder for Salem lashed 13 hits in 25 at-bats as he put together a .520 average with 2 home runs. Dogleash also drove in 5 runs, scored 4 times and compiled a .538 OBP. His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Racky Westheim was rewarded with the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Oberland T-51s catcher hit .667 while collecting 14 hits in 21 at-bats, 1 home run and 8 RBIs. CBO Noteworthy News April 14 - The Atom Cats got more than the 10-2 victory at Coolest Field in Town -- they also put an end to the 38-game hitting streak of Goodneighbor Hancocks first baseman Handel Alone by holding him without a hit in 1 at-bat. After the game, Alone seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." At present, Alone is batting .370 with 10 hits and 1 home run. He has knocked in 5 runs and scored 4 times. April 20 - The Salem Witch Hats relied on no-hit stuff from starter Jaa Thirtysix to defeat the Goodneighbor Hancocks, 4-0, at Vim! Park of Salem. "It's quite a thrill," Thirtysix told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it." To get his name logged in the North Charles Association records, he stopped Goodneighbor cold and hitless, surrendering 3 walks and fanning 5 of the 32 batters he faced. Salem manager Nick Caudill was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Thirtysix "made managing easy today." "I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter." April 20 - Jamaica Plain ace Derek Green solidified his place in league history with his 200th career victory today at The Wharf at Nahant. Green and the Red Rockets bested Nahant 9-0. He checked the Celtics on 6 hits in 6.2 innings and finished the day with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks. "I've worked hard for this day," Green said. "Sometimes I didn't think it would happen. Most of the time it seemed so far off. Now it's here. It's like a dream!" During his career, Green has compiled a 200-117 record with a 3.52 ERA in 414 starts. May 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 May 2312 The May Super Post CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Salem Witch Hats fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in April. Peter Pan Calvillo put up a remarkable month at the age of 23 and has been named the North Charles Association Batter of the Month. For the month, Calvillo hit .420 with 8 home runs, 19 RBIs and 23 runs scored. SCA Hitter - When guys like Egret's Austin Engill win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive April, the longtime South Charles Association veteran toyed with opposing pitchers, collecting 22 hits in 71 at-bats. The veteran shortstop hit for a .310 batting average and collected 8 home runs, 22 RBIs and 20 runs scored. NCA Pitcher - The top-rated pitcher this past month in the North Charles Association was Elastic Man Haley of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud. He really dominated league hitters, finishing April with a 5-0 won-lost mark and a 2.38 ERA. The Silver Shroud ace made 6 starts and surrendered 33 hits in 41.2 innings. He struck out 28 and walked 9. SCA Pitcher - April's standout hurler was Mister Burns of Goodneighbor. He muzzled South Charles Association hitters and held them in check the entire month to capture the Pitcher of the Month award. To win the honor Burns compiled an impressive 4-1 mark and 1.56 ERA in 6 starts. The Hancocks star hurler also rung up 25 strikeouts in 40.1 innings. NCA Rookie - Eden Babz's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Easy Town center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In April he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .442 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and 3 home runs. Babz also scored 17 times and drove in 14 runs. SCA Rookie - In April Pink Floyd pitched his way to the South Charles Association Rookie of the Month Award. He started 0 games, put up a 1-0 record, 1.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts. The Glowing Sea starter also tossed 9 innings and held batters to a .188 batting average. MML Analysis Eash team has now played 27 games, so there are some clues as to how the 2312 season may shake out based on the talent at the MML level. Current division leaders are Abernathy, Finch Farm, Foxborough, and Braintee. The Robobrains (NB) have the league's best record at 22-5, partially due to their explosive offense. SS Nap Joy (.430/4/16) and 2B Lackey Lakewalker (.367/11/29) have been the team's two most productive players. MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - Fairprice Fairley battered Legends League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Massachusetts Minor League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 30-year-old Fairley told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 27 games, Fairley hit .299 with 20 home runs, 36 RBIs and scored 27 runs. SL Hitter - Izdere Lifunn-Mars made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Stars League this past month. The Providence Warlocks center fielder shined through the month of April and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 22-year-old hit .417 with 17 home runs, 40 RBIs and 32 runs scored. LL Pitcher - When Alley Cat Preciado takes the hill, he's a good bet to nail down the victory for the Finch Farm Shamrocks. At least that's the way it was in May. He excelled with a 6-0 mark and 3.44 ERA in 7 starts. In 49.2 innings, he fanned 31 and walked 14. That's why he was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Legends League. SL Pitcher - The Providence Warlocks owe Waxer Lucatero a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in April, Lucatero tore up the opposition with a fine 6-0 mark on his way to the Stars League Pitcher of the Month award. "When you're pitching this well," analyzed Lucatero, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is." It was Lucatero who did the banging in April as he tossed up 41 strikeouts in 48 innings, holding opponents to a .249 average and posting a 1.88 ERA. BMU Analysis Teams have not yet started to distance themselves only 18 games into the 2312 campaign. In fact, two of the leagues are tied and another two have a 1st-place team with just a game lead. League leaders are the Tenpines Bluff Manta Men in the Dark Hollow Pond League; Sanctuary Hills, Fiddler's Green, and Littleton in the Cambridge League; Hull in the Downtown Boston League; and Hyde Park and Mayoral Shelter in the Glowing Sea League. The Manta Men (FtH) have the Commonwealth Association's best record at 12-6. Their best player has been 3B Keg Gutterson (.329/9/24). RP Rhody Wallace (2-1, 0.84) has been the leader of the CA's best bullpen (3.16). In the Massachusetts Association, the Lead Bellies (Qui) are the best at 12-6. Hull has the best offense in the MA (120 runs scored), led by four performing players in 2B Will Hell (.357/5/10), LF Ruwee Naba (.338/5/13), C Queue Bear (.372/4/8), and CF Mim Fist (.375/4/9). BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 22 Malyn Varen has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Marblehead Grenades star can enjoy the numbers he put up in April, which have garnered him the nod as the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .315 average with 12 home runs, 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored. MA Hitter - When Voldsea Giryon stepped up to the plate in April he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month award. The young Brockton center fielder posted a .375 batting average with 8 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 16 runs. Giryon also worked pitchers for 9 walks to post a .444 on-base percentage. CA Pitcher - Freon McMahan of Taffington Boathouse excelled on the mound in April with a 4-0 record and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the Commonwealth Association. McMahan restricted opposing batters to 25 base hits and a .202 batting average. He rang up 21 strikeouts in 34.2 innings of work, surrendered 10 walks, and fashioned a 1.56 ERA. MA Pitcher - It was a monstrous April for the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month award winner, Caramel Plows of the Brockton Irish. He put up some mighty scary numbers. Plows recorded 3 wins and no losses in 4 starts. Throwing a total of 26.2 innings, he yielded 16 hits, mowed down 32 on strikes, gave up 16 walks and put up a solid ERA of 1.35 in a stellar month on the mound. GBRL Analysis While the GBRL is only 18 games in, some teams have populated their Rookie League with a lot better players than others. Division leaders are Med-Tek, Union Hope and Walden Pond, DB Tech, and Greater Mass. In the NL, the Eyebots (Qui) are the best at 14-4. With the NL's best Starters ERA (3.23), Med-Tek's starters are a combined 9-0 with ace Kevin Gauzeman (5-0, 2.37) leading the way. In the SL, Vans (FHE) have dominated with a 16-2 mark. Like the Eyebots, Greater Mass has succeeded due to its pitching, especially the work of Jared Porch (4-0, 1.67), the Yao Guai's 1st-round pick in 2311. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - At only 18 years of age, Hammer Longball could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Corvega Flamers, as April was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the North League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .344 with 10 home runs, 24 RBIs and 20 runs scored. SL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Aaron Wright certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the SL Batter of the Month award for April. The 20-year-old left fielder for the Westing Estate Alphas hit .478 with 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and 20 runs scored. NL Pitcher - The North League hitters didn't have a chance in April when the Med-Tek Eyebots manager wrote "Gauzeman" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Kevin Gauzeman held teams in check and usually got a win. He excelled with a 5-0 mark and 2.37 ERA in 5 starts. The talented Eyebots star pitched 38 innings, fanned 51 and held opposing teams to a .215 average. For his superb mound work Gauzeman was named the NL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. SL Pitcher - Jared Porch of the Greater Mass Vans strung a bunch of high quality starts together in April to earn the South League Pitcher of the Month trophy. For the month he finished with a superlative 4 wins and no losses and a 1.67 ERA. The Greater Mass star started 5 games, pitched 37.2 innings and struck out 44. CCBL Analysis The 2312 collegiate regular season is winding down with just two more weeks before the road to the College Series begins. The top eight teams will vie for the 2312 championship. Winthrop College, the 2311 champions, are atop the BCAC with a 28-17 record, while Greenfield College leads the MassCon with a 29-15 record. The Guardians are 2nd in scoring (276) and 1st in runs allowed (183). CF Cray Cris Arcos (.379/10/26) is the team leader. For the Greenies, they are the top-scoring team (336) with the 6th-best runs against (214). 3B Moktar Wakihuri (.414/14/42) has been Greenfield's most-explosive hitter. CCBL All-Star Game The MassCon All-Stars reigned supreme tonight at George E. Trelease Memorial Park, with a 7-6 triumph over the BCAC All-Stars. MassCon center fielder Wonny Johnson led the way for the winning club, putting up a 3-for-3 mark to earn game MVP honors. "We had some fun out there," he said. "We've got a great league and a great team and I'm not surprised we won." In his career, Johnson has played in 112 games with a .364 batting average. Among his 151 hits are 16 doubles, 2 triples, and 24 home runs. He has also scored 85 runs, walked 61 times, tallied 6 stolen bases, and driven in 67 runs. Half of the season has been played and now it's time for the All-Star game! It's a game where the fans will get to see their favorite players compete on the same field together, a game where the players themselves become fans and all of baseball comes together to celebrate one of the great traditions of the game -- the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League All-Star game. The Assumption second baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League has just picked him as its top hitter for April. In 23 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .413 with 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Colgan is hitting .415 so far this season with 49 RBIs and 38 runs scored. He has 68 hits including 15 home runs, 27 walks and .497 OBP. Pitcher - Toto Yanagi was ecstatic to win April's Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Month honors today. The 19-year-old Revere College pitcher thanked fans, his coaches and the voters for the honor -- despite the fact that he deserved much of the credit himself. Yanagi's star burned bright last month as he made 12 relief appearances, notching 5 saves and 12 strikeouts in 15 innings. He held opposing hitters to a .157 average to put up his 5-0 mark and 0.00 ERA. This year, his season stats show Yanagi has 9 saves in 20 relief appearances with a 5-2 mark and 1.19 ERA. CYL Analysis The CYL has just over a month remaining on the 2312 regular season. With that stated, there are teams who have taken control in their divisions, while some are just hanging on to a lead. Division leaders: Franklin - Sturbridge Rangers Emerson - Woburn Diners Fuller - Circle Jerks Revere - Saugus Launchers Adams - Hope Firestarters Alcott - Andrew Station Southies Morse - Swansea Nuka Sox Attucks - Truro Hatchlings CYL All-Star Game Shaw HS Ballpark was the place to be for baseball fans tonight, as the best CYL players gathered for the annual all-star game. "You looked into the stands and it seemed like everyone was having a fantastic time," said the 14-year-old, who went 2-for-2 in the game. "A game like this is good for the sport." A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Boston Common officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Baby Bellies first baseman posted a .417 batting average with 9 home runs, 30 RBIs and 26 runs scored. This season, Vargas has banged out 61 hits in 147 at-bats for a .415 average with 14 home runs. He is getting on base at a .517 pace and his totals also include 41 RBIs and 42 runs scored. SR Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Commonwealth Youth League, Choo-Choo Tracks put up some good numbers in April and earned the SR Batter of the Month award. He was one of Swansea's offensive leaders with a .480 average in 25 games. He also racked up 14 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 37 runs scored. To date, Tracks has collected 51 hits for a .415 average. He has posted 20 home runs, scored 52 runs and driven in 52 runs. NR Pitcher - The North Region made it official today -- Richard Burns of the South Charles Bank Moonies is the Pitcher of the Month. In April he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters. Burns made 6 starts, registered 6 wins and no losses with a solid 1.12 ERA. In 48 innings he allowed 28 hits, racked up 57 strikeouts, walked 8 and permitted teams to hit .169 against him. This year, Burns has a 8-2 mark in 10 starts with a 1.86 ERA. He has given up 47 hits in 72.2 innings, struck out 82 and issued 20 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .184 batting average against him. SR Pitcher - Leland van Sprang of Taunton had a tremendous April with a 5-1 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the South Region. van Sprang restricted opposing hitters to 32 base hits and a .156 batting average. He rang up 64 strikeouts in 57.1 innings of work, surrendered 15 walks, and crafted a 1.26 ERA. To this point in the season, van Sprang shows a 7-1 record, 10 starts, 78.1 innings, 84 strikeouts and a 1.49 ERA.

May 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 6 May 2312 CBO Analysis The CBO season has now powered its way into the second month of the season, and we are already excited about all the great accomplishments so far. University Point's Barker Cocoa, already cemented as the CBO's greatest player is the first player to join the 500 Club of home run hitters. In the past two weeks, two no-hitters means that the CBO has matched its best season, 2299, for no-hitters when Mike Cartrette of Fort Hagen, Sheng Kawolski of Oberland, and Tommy Beach of Nordhagen Beach (first and only perfect game) all did it. So far this season, Salem's Jaa Thirtysix and FHE's Baker Dozen and Kennett Kentucky have done it. Dozen and Kentucky become just the second team pair to do it, joining Clubhouse Treelover and Heaven Fontenot of Goodneighbor in 2311. It is particularly impressive for Dozen and Kentucky accomplishing the feat within a week of each other. Now, here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Salem Witch Hats (124.7, ++) 2) Vault 81 Dwellers (120.7, o) 3) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (118.7, -) 4) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (117.7, ++) 5) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (117.7, -) 6) Starlight Killers (101.8, ++) 7) Diamond City Swatters (100.9, --) 8) Goodneighbor Hancocks (100.9, +) 9) Cambridge Coursers (100.8, ++) 10) Southie Brews (98.8, -) 11) County Crossing Bloodbugs (97.8, -) 12) Egret Ninjas (97.0, ++) 13) Easy Town Assaultrons (95.8, -) 14) Oberland T-51s (95.8, o) 15) Bunker Hill 75ers (93.8, --) 16) The Slog Ghouls (91.8, --) 17) Concord Radstags (86.2, ++) 18) FHE Yao Guai (81.1, ++) 19) Roxbury Rad Sox (79.2, --) 20) University Point Deathclaws (78.2, +) 21) Quincy Gunners (74.1, -) 22) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (73.1, -) 23) Nahant Celtics (71.1, -) 24) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (70.3, +) 25) Malden Grognaks (61.3, ++) 26) Atom Cats (60.3, --) 27) Spectacle Island Reapers (59.3, --) 28) Lexington Synths (52.4, -) Brotherhood League The BL has five teams above .500, though three of those teams are just 14-12. While we predicted the demise of Nordhagen Beach, they have been the CBO's hottest team the past two weeks, including matching Egret for the best in their last 10 at 8-2. Salem is currently ahead of the Party Boys, though just by a game, in what could be an interesting season-long race. Last season's league champion, the Nahant Celtics, are stuck in 6th place right now. The Celtics have been suffering bad luck this season, including the big news of losing ace SP Lonely Gale (1-2, 1.61) for his career. At 17-9, the Witch Hats are currently tied for the CBO's best record with Fort Hagen and Vault 81, and they are atop the Power Rankings. The Hats are the best team in the NCA in runs scored (156) and 6th for runs allowed (121). With 51 home runs, Salem also leads the NCA, with the entire lineup contributing to that number. The top three hitters--LF Dan Erb (.295/8/22), 2B Peter Pan Calvillo (.398/9/21), and 1B Brian DeLong (.299/9/22)--lead the team in homers. Calvillo has been especially impressive, including winning the NCA Hitter of the Month award. In just his third season with the CBO club after being an 8th-round pick in the 2306 Draft, Calvillo has emerged as perhaps the best 2B in the CBO. Institute League PAM may have been a season early in her prediction of Fort Hagen as the best team in the CBO. The Silver Shroud has certainly shown glimpses of that ability and have the largest league lead of three games. Three teams are tied for 2nd place: Starlight, Bunker Hill, and Cambridge(!). Sunshine Tidings, which had made the playoffs the past nine seasons, is mired in 6th place. For the Shroud, the sky is the limit in their pursuit for their first Sole Survivor Series victory. Fort Hagen is 2nd in runs scored (153) and runs allowed (115). The lineup has proven to be well-balanced overall with most of the lineup hitting between .250 and .333. LF/SP Admiral Kelm (.325/7/23) has been the best overall hitter so far. SP Elastic Man Haley, the NCA's Pitcher of the Month, is 5-0 with a 2.45 ERA. Minutemen League This league is now our topsy-turvy league when compared to 2311 results. Just two days ago, there was a three-way tie for 1st among Jamaica Plain, Goodneighbor, and Southie (!). Two days later, those teams went 2-0, 1-1, and 0-2, respectively for a two-game difference from 1st through 3rd. University Point is sitting in 4th at two games below .500 and Spectacle Island has the SCA's worst record at 9-17. Jamaica Plain had been perennial playoff participants for 9 of 10 years from 2300-2309. In 2310, they barely missed the playoffs, and then in 2311, they fell off the cliff to 6th place and their worst winning percentage since the full CBO began in 2298. The Red Rockets are a talented team, so bad luck was probably the reason for such a poor 2311 season. This season, the Rockets are 8th in the SCA in runs scored (126) but 2nd in runs allowed (89) including the 2nd-best Starters ERA (2.99). All four starters have an ERA at 3.50 or below: Derek Green (1-0. 2.43), Chris Deathclaw (2-3, 2.93), Frank Heart (2-2, 3.50), and D.P. Clark (3-1, 3.12). Railroad League Like the Institute League, the Railroad League has seen one team seeming to be above the others through early returns in Vault 81. Diamond City and Oberland are the only other teams above .500. Defenidng CBO champions, the Roxbury Rad Sox, have shown some signs of decline, currently sitting in 5th place at 12-14, just one game better than the two teams at the bottom, FHE and Glowing Sea. The Dwellers have sporadically sampled with greatness over the years. Their best season was 2306 when Vault 81 finished 77-43 and the SCA's best record. However, they fell in seven games in the SCA Championship Series to Roxbury that season. This season, Vault 81 is again finding their groove, looking to be the SCA's best team from early returns. The Dwellers are 5th in runs scored (132) and 4th in runs allowed (118), showing that they are not dominating the statistics but still finding ways to win. Part of that success is in the Dwellers' domination in one-run games (10-1). Interestingly, that one loss was also in their only extra-inning game, an 8-7 loss to Salem. Harry Byrd (.352/5/19) leads the offense, while Scruffy Taguchi (3-1, 3.67) has been the best pitcher. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 29 - Peter Pan Calvillo has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 23-year-old shortstop of the Salem Witch Hats had a hot bat in the North Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Calvillo batted .483 with 14 hits in 29 at-bats, 5 home runs and 10 RBIs. To date, Calvillo has collected 35 hits for a .422 average. He has posted 7 home runs, scored 22 runs and driven in 17 runs. A veteran of baseball wars, Shane Stabb knows how to stay with a stroke that's working for him. The 35-year-old third baseman for the Cats batted .458 last week on his way to the South Charles Association Player of the Week award. His noteworthy week also featured 11 hits in 24 at-bats, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Thus far this year, Stabb is batting .408 with 3 home runs, 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored. May 6 - A veteran of baseball wars, Zeldolph Violet knows how to stay with a stroke that's working for him. The 35-year-old first baseman for the Bloodbugs batted .467 last week on his way to the North Charles Association Player of the Week award. His noteworthy week also featured 7 hits in 15 at-bats, 5 home runs, 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Violet is hitting .323 for the season with 7 home runs, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 20 hits in 62 at-bats and played in 22 games. A battle-tested Aesed Hayjen declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 34-year-old University Point right fielder collected the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. He wrapped up the week with a .565 average, 13 hits in 23 at-bats, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Thus far this year, Hayjen has hit .402 with 5 home runs and 13 RBIs. CBO Noteworthy News April 22 - "I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact." That's what Barker Cocoa told reporters after he made league history at Valentine Detective Agency Field. The prolific slugger belted home run #500 in the University Point Deathclaws 7-3 victory over the Starlight Killers. The standout first baseman collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. "I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Cocoa. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?" In his career, Cocoa is hitting .359 with a total of 501 home runs. April 26 - The day has come for Lonely Gale to call it a career. The Nahant starting pitcher, because of a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament, has been out of action for a while. Now, he has decided to retire from baseball. He made it official in a brief appearance to reporters. "I was told I've got an outside shot at playing again," he said. "But I've decided to pursue other options at this time." Best of luck to Gale. The team will surely miss him. The 22-year-old Gale was the overall 22nd pick by Easy Town in the 2307 Rookie Draft. He was considered the Celtics' ace entering the 2312 season. Assuming he does not make a comeback, in three seasons, Gale has an 8-5 record with a 3.16 ERA. April 29 - Excitement reigned at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury as FHE Yao Guai hurler Baker Dozen tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter. After defeating the Roxbury Rad Sox, 13-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments. "I'm just glad to be here," Dozen said. "Today I just went right at the Rad Sox as hard as I could, as long as I could." Dozen, who finished 5th in the SCA in ERA with 3.27 last year, chalked up 6 strikeouts and allowed 7 walks in his superb performance. "I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said FHE manager Dan Ferreri. This year, Dozen has compiled a 2-1 record with a 3.00 ERA. May 3 - FHE Yao Guai starter Kennett Kentucky came up big at BosCom Circle with an exceptional 3-0 win against the Diamond City Swatters. Not only did he whip them, but Kentucky held them hitless, too. "My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Kentucky. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens." In the course of the no-hitter, Kentucky collected 7 strikeouts and surrendered 1 walk -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books. This season, Kentucky has compiled a 2-2 record with a 2.87 ERA. CBO Transactions Monday, May 6th , 2312 Nahant Celtics: Released CF Cornelius Humperdink IV. Hmmm, been busy so missed a bit. Looks like we may have an interesting season coming our way. Always liked the Witch Hats, but must admit, surprising to see them doing so well. Even in our talks I don't think we speculated them as one to rise to the top. Will definitely keep my eye on them.

The only positions that are near the top are 2B Peter Pan Calvillo (1st) and 1B Brian DeLong (2nd) with the rest around the middle-of-the-pack for talent. Their offense has been dominant, though where they are 1st or 2nd in the NCA in every offensive category. Calvillo (.403/14/31), DeLong (.346/12/35), and LF Dan Erb (.287/12/30) are driving a lot of those numbers. RF Jaheim Harper (.383/6/36) had averages of .167 and .154 in his first two seasons with the Hats. In his first year as a regular starter last season, he batted .296/21/67. SS Hopper Hayes is already one of the best defensive SSs in the CBO, but he is also batting .291/3/17, on pace to have his highest batting average (.293 in 2305), home runs (9 in 2307 and 2308), and RBI (53 in 2306) in 13-year career. On the mound, ace SP Jaa Thirtysix (5-1, 2.85) is the 14th-best starter in the league, but he has been great. The rest of the starters have also been successful: Pokey Chatman (4-3, 3.97), Ben Huber (3-0, 3.09), and Bry McBourbon (6-1, 4.80). CL Four Davies (11 SV, 8.56) is supposedly the 10th-best closer and best reliever, but he has been awful. In fact, the Bullpen (4.63, 5th in NCA) is the only down part to Salem's team.

See, and this is my usual philosophy, it's better to be 4/5 most of the time than 5/5 occasionally, and that may be what's at play. I think it works especially well for baseball, but even then it can be hit and miss.

May 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 20 May 2312 CBO Analysis We are at about 30% of the way through the 2312 season. There is still a lot of jostling waiting to happen in the league, but some teams are starting to fit into the "contenders" category officially. There are also 15 teams hovering around five games over or below .500. That means there are many teams who could go through positive or negative streaks to put them in great contention. The two hottest teams, Salem (8 straight wins) and FHE (15 straight wins!), are at the top of the Power Rankings this week. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Salem Witch Hats (148.7, o) 2) FHE Yao Guai (133.9, +) 3) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (121.8, +) 4) Goodneighbor Hancocks (109.9, -) 5) Roxbury Rad Sox (107.5, ++) 6) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (105.9, o) 7) Vault 81 Dwellers (102.9, --) 8) County Crossing Bloodbugs (102.5, ++) 9) Oberland T-51s (98.7, ++) 10) Diamond City Swatters (97.5, -) 11) Starlight Killers (95.7, ++) 12) Bunker Hill 75ers (92.0, ++) 13) Nahant Celtics (91.0, ++) 14) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (89.7, --) 15) Egret Ninjas (88.0, --) 16) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (85.5, ++) 17) University Point Deathclaws (84.3, --) 18) Cambridge Coursers (80.3, --) 19) The Slog Ghouls (79.5, ++) 20) Atom Cats (77.8, ++) 21) Concord Radstags (76.8, ++) 22) Easy Town Assaultrons (76.3, --) 23) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (72.8, -) 24) Southie Brews (70.5, --) 25) Spectacle Island Reapers (69.1, -) 26) Quincy Gunners (68.1, --) 27) Malden Grognaks (63.2, -) 28) Lexington Synths (44.0, o) Brotherhood League Currently on an eight-game winning streak, the Salem Witch Hats are now four games better than anyone for the CBO's top record. The Hats also have a seven-game lead over County Crossing and an eight-game lead over the spiraling Party Boys. Thos three teams named are the only three above .500 in an association with just five teams currently over. 500. The Bloodbugs represent a tale of two teams. Like usual, the Bugs are awesome on offense, currently second in the NCA in runs scored (218) and 2nd in most offensive categories except WAR (5th at 5.3) and stolen bases (9th at 23). Like usual, RF Babs Rooth (.388/12/42) is the unquestioned team leader and in the Nuka Hitter Award race. 1B Zeldolph Violet (.315/7/17), CF Bumpy Redfern (.293/8/34), and LF Any Why (.348/5/18) also have contributed. On the mound, County Crosing is 10th in runs allowed (201), including having the 11th-best Starters ERA (5.05). Ace SP Gavin Eviritts (4-3, 3.86) is holding the rotation together. RP Jupiter Jones (2-1, 1.31) is the only pitcher in the bullpen with a great ERA. Institute League Fort Hagen has struggled as of late, but so has the rest of the Institute League with the Shroud tied with Starlight, Bunker Hill, and Sunshine Tidings with the best 10-game stretch in the league of 5-5. Right now, we are not sure what to think of the IL, so we will play the waiting game. One key team not currently in the playoff race is Sunshine Tidings. The Chemists are considered to be a solid veteran-packed team on a nine-year playoff streak with grizzled leaders in SP Sheng Kawolski (1-5, 6.40), RF David Seaweed (.262/3/8), and 1B Dusty Brownell (.222/2/10). As you can see, though, those veterans are struggling in the first third of the season, though it is worth noting that Seaweed is this week's top player. Sunshine Tidings is 7th in runs scored (173) and 9th in runs allowed (194), so a turnaround is not out of the question. The need more than LF Family Sam Partridge (.338/9/32) and SP Doug Creep (2-3, 3.20) to perform to be able to find that success, though. Minutemen League Jamaica Plain and Goodneighbor have been battling at the top of the Minutemen League, while 3rd-7th place are three games within of one another. University Point at 18-20 is the top, whole Quincy and Spectacle Island, both considered preseason playoff contenders, are at the bottom at 15-23. The Hancocks seem as though they are a beast waiting to pounce. As one of the youngest teams in the CBO, Goodneighbor is packed with young top talent. Still, there have been some offensive struggles, including currently being tied for 10th in the SCA in runs scored (172), though that stat is a statistical anomaly since the Hancocks are better than that in every other offensive category. Top hitters have been 3B Luke Skyy (.391/1/22) and CF Missile Crews (.343/7/20). On the mound, the four starters have been great, including ace SP Heaven Fontenot (5-1, 3.24), the 2311 Vim! Pitcher Award winner, having the worst ERA of the rotation. Other starters are Mister Burns (5-2, 2.48), Clubhouse Treelover (4-1. 2.70), and Pollox Troye (3-1, 1.69). Railroad League Vault 81 thought they had a tight grip on the Railroad League, but their current four-game losing streak with FHE's current 15-game winning streak ties the two teams atop the league at 23-15. Three other teams in Diamond City, Roxbury, and Oberland are above .500, while Egret has risen to .500 after a putrid start. The Yao Guai's 15-game winning streak is beyond just impressive. After dropping their first game of May, a 7-2 loss to Roxbury, FHE has swept Diamond City, The Slog, Concord, Glowing Sea, and Fort Hagen. The Rad Sox series was their first series win after losing five straight series before this impressive streak began, or the Yao Guai would be running away with the best record in the CBO. Looking at the team, FHE is now 3rd in runs scored (202) and 5th in runs allowed (166). Offensively, LF Innis Sark (.297/10/21) is the best all-around hitter. Fourth starter, Kennett Kentucky (3-2, 2.59) leads the team in ERA. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 13 - It was announced today by the North Charles Association that County Crossing right fielder Babs Rooth had received the Player of the Week Trophy for his superlative play last week. During his week-long batting binge he reeled off a .500 batting average, 11 hits and 3 home runs. Rooth also racked up 9 RBIs and scored 7 runs. In his season totals Rooth has 10 home runs and a .398 batting average. Zod Gaycey has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 24-year-old first baseman of the Spectacle Island Reapers had a hot bat in the South Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Gaycey batted .458 with 11 hits in 24 at-bats, 5 home runs and 13 RBIs. This season, Gaycey is batting .291 with 10 home runs. His totals include 29 RBIs and 18 runs scored. May 20 - David Seaweed of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists had a spectacular week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the North Charles Association. For the week Seaweed batted .562 (9-for-16) with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs. Thus far this year, Seaweed is hitting .262 with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 10 runs scored. Roxbury's Purple Gupta nabbed the latest South Charles Association Player of the Week Award for his batting prowess this past week. Posting a hefty .435 average with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored, the 31-year-old is the toast of Roxbury right now. Gupta has collected 34 hits for the Rad Sox this year, 6 of them home runs. He has also netted 18 RBIs and scored 21 runs while batting .258. CBO Noteworthy News May 1-20 - Milestones: 1000-run club = Zeldoph Violet, Lannie Tykeson, and Allen Bishop; 1500-run club = Barker Cocoa. May 19 - The T-51s received bad news this morning. Stormin Normin MacDonald will miss 5 weeks due to a strained oblique. He sustained the injury in the Oberland-Diamond City game while throwing the ball. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," MacDonald sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery." Looking at his present stats, MacDonald has compiled a .325 batting average in 37 games with a .458 on-base percentage, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 18 runs. May 20 - Goodneighbor's Handel Alone had his 38-game hitting streak snapped last month. What we have discovered was that he tied Amari Nukes' 2298 record when Nukes hit in 38 straight for the Chemists. CCBL Playoffs The 2312 season is now completed with a reduced playoff field of just four teams. Next season, the CCBL will add at least one more conference, though they have not yet made a decision, along with an expanded playoff field. Another Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League campaign is in the books. The regular season has ended and the playoffs are about to begin. It is a time of skill, talent -- and luck. And when all the games have been played, one team will survive and be crowned the 2312 College Series champion. The teams who survived the hard battles of the regular season now begin their new campaign -- the postseason. The playoffs begin today in Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League as the First Round commences with these matchups of clubs hoping to win the title: Northeastern Huskies vs Greenfield College Greenies and Assumption Greyhounds vs Winthrop College Guardians. In the playoffs, there is a double-elimination mode before the two remaining teams will play in a three-game College Series for the right to claim the 2312 championship.

June 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2312 The June Super Post CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - When guys like County Crossing's Babs Rooth win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive May, the longtime North Charles Association veteran toyed with opposing pitchers, collecting 40 hits in 103 at-bats. The veteran right fielder hit for a .388 batting average and collected 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 31 runs scored. Rooth is batting at a .381 pace this season, picking up 69 hits in 181 at-bats with 14 home runs, 49 RBIs and 51 runs scored. SCA Hitter - To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Barker Cocoa. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as University Point's first baseman pinned down the South Charles Association Batter of the Month trophy today. He hit .362 in May collecting 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 23 runs scored. This year, Cocoa is hitting .293 with 17 home runs. NCA Pitcher - Eugene Gym certainly found a groove in May. The Sunshine Tidings starter posted 4 wins last month to easily claim the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month. During the month Gym was 4-0 with a 2.44 ERA. He made 7 starts, tossed 48 innings and had 44 strikeouts. In 13 starts this season, Gym has rung up a 6-3 record and a 4.19 ERA. SCA Pitcher - When Zaire Inquisitor takes the hill, chances are good for a Oberland victory. At least that's the way it was in May. He excelled with a 5-0 mark and 2.87 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 37.2 innings, fanned 17 and held others clubs to a .222 average. That's why the T-51s star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the South Charles Association. Currently Inquisitor has a record of 7-3 with 41 strikeouts and 29 walks in 77 innings and a 2.92 ERA. NCA Rookie - Easy Town's Eden Babz collected 38 hits to snare the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month for May. He batted .376 with 4 home runs, 29 RBIs and 20 runs scored. The 18-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace. This season, Babz is batting .406 with 76 hits, 7 home runs, 43 RBIs, 18 walks, .459 OBP and has scored 37 runs. He has played in 47 games. SCA Rookie - In May, Kyran Millar piled up some solid numbers and walked off with the Rookie of the Month award in the South Charles Association. Last month, the 27-year-old Jamaica Plain second baseman played in 25 games and hit .344 with 5 doubles, no triples and 6 home runs. Millar also scored 21 times and drove in 18 runs. To date Millar has chalked up a .305 average with 9 home runs, driven in 29 runs and scored 32 times. MML Analysis As the MML enters June, each of the divisional leaders have a slight bit of comfort . . . for now. The leaders are the Abernathy Adamantium, Finch Farm Shamrocks, Worcester Cannons, and Braintree Robobrains. Both the Adamantium and Robobrains have the largest leads at six games. MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - It's official. BNN writers have voted Pauwoo Leopardskin of the Finch Farm Shamrocks the Legends League Batter of the Month award for May. During the month he recorded a .340 average with 16 home runs, 39 RBIs and 30 runs scored. Batting .326 to date, Leopardskin has 25 home runs and 64 RBIs. SL Hitter - Fans, friends and family were cheering today when Priz Worden received May's Stars League Batter of the Month Award. Worden stung the ball all month, posting a .385 batting average with 21 home runs, 46 RBIs and 33 runs scored. At the moment, Worden is batting .332 with 31 home runs and 63 RBIs. He has played in 55 games and scored 51 times. LL Pitcher - Finch Farm starter Kyle Hein really put the chill on opposing teams in May and today was acclaimed the Legends League Pitcher of the Month. He excelled with a 6-0 mark and 1.88 ERA in 7 starts. In 57.1 innings, he fanned 39 and walked 19. In the current season in 14 starts, Kyle Hein has a record of 10-1 with 86 strikeouts in 110 innings and a 2.86 ERA. SL Pitcher - There's something about a young rookie winning the Stars League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Boxer Rigger, a 24-year-old starter for the Brookline Bandoliers. In May, he topped off the month with a 5-1 mark and 3.47 ERA in 8 starts, tossed 62.1 innings, fanned 49 and held opposing teams to a .269 average. This season, Rigger has compiled a 5-1 mark, 3.47 ERA and made 8 starts. BMU Analysis The Commonwealth Association league leaders have been the hottest teams in their association, while the Massachusetts Association league leaders are currently struggling, making their leads tighter. League leaders in the CA are the Covenant Refractors and Sanctuary Hills Zetans, while the MA leaders are the Neponset Park Criticals and Hyde Park Stingwings. BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - Sandy Coves Freaks fans believe they've got a talented young star in Thatch Heard. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .447 with 11 home runs, 30 RBIs and 21 runs scored. The end result was the right fielder being named the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month. So far this year, Heard is batting .379 with 15 home runs, 39 RBIs and 27 runs scored. MA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 19 Javen the Raven Coleman has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Hyde Park Stingwings star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .418 average with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 24 runs scored. This season, Coleman has delivered 56 hits in 155 at-bats for a .361 average with 13 home runs. He is getting on base at a .444 clip and his totals also include 34 RBIs and 37 runs scored. This year Coleman has played in 43 games. CA Pitcher - R.J. Shepherd is the latest Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month trophy winner. The Mystic Pines starter sparkled on the diamond time and again last month and finished May with an outstanding 5-0 record. In 7 starts he tossed 52.2 innings, posted 35 strikeouts, and sported a 1.88 ERA. To date this year, in 12 starts, Shepherd has crafted a 7-2 mark with a 2.33 ERA. MA Pitcher - Brockton's Caramel Plows hated to see May end. It was one of the single greatest months the reliever has posted, and the 25-year-old reliever did so well that he garnered enough votes for the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month trophy. Plows held the opposition to a .214 batting average in 1 relief appearance. He worked 50 innings, collected no saves, sat down 42 on strikes and posted a 5-1 record and a 1.62 ERA. Plows's record this year is 8-and-1 with no saves and a 1.53 ERA. He has given up 55 hits in 76.2 innings with 74 strikeouts. GBRL Analysis Most of the division leaders have a lead of six or more games with one division leader, the Med-Tek Eyebots, having only a three-game lead. Other division leaders are the Union Hope Lifegivers, DB Tech Nuclear Physicists, and Greater Mass Vans. The Physicists have the largest lead of eight games over both Posiedon Energy and Cabot House. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - When Getty Ivey stepped up to the plate in May he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the North League Batter of the Month award. The young Croup Manor right fielder posted a .430 batting average with 16 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 28 runs. Ivey also worked pitchers for 5 walks to post a .452 on-base percentage. Ivey's current batting average stands at .394 and he has chalked up 23 home runs and 50 RBIs. SL Hitter - Westing Estate Alphas fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in May. Cupper Galvan put up a remarkable month at the age of 18 and has been named the South League Batter of the Month. For the month, Galvan hit .310 with 15 home runs, 27 RBIs and 29 runs scored. So far this season, Galvan is hitting .305 with 24 home runs, 44 RBIs and 55 runs scored. He has 43 hits in 141 at-bats and a .512 OBP. NL Pitcher - May's standout hurler was Dog Miller of Union Hope. He muzzled North League hitters and held them in check the entire month to capture the Pitcher of the Month award. To win the honor Miller compiled an impressive 6-1 mark and 2.81 ERA in 8 starts. The Lifegivers star hurler also rung up 71 strikeouts in 51.1 innings. Looking at his season stats, Miller has won 6 and lost 3, collecting 81 strikeouts and 41 walks in 60 innings with a 3.60 ERA. SL Pitcher - There was little doubt around the South League that Smiling Timmy Keefe would be awarded Pitcher of the Month honors for May. Today, they made it official, naming the 19-year-old DB Tech Nuclear Physicists starter the latest honoree. He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .214 batting average while fashioning a 2.26 ERA in 8 starts. His record for the month was 5-0 in 55.2 innings of work. On the season, Keefe has 6 wins and 1 loss and a 2.50 ERA. CCBL Analysis The Winthrop College Guardians are champions, today and forever. The Guardians topped the Northeastern Huskies 8-2 at Sylvia Plath Palace today to claim the College Series crown. The Guardians are now back-to-back champions. "Nobody can take this away from us, not ever," said series MVP and right fielder Kieran Pearson after his club had sealed the victory. "We worked hard and we accomplished our goal." The atmosphere was electric as the newly-crowned champs stormed the field at the conclusion of the game. Fans cheered, gloves flew in the air, high fives and hugs were the order of the day. "From day one of spring training, I could see it in their eyes," said Winthrop College manager Robbie Burgos. "The players had that look of intensity, of hunger, of a desire to accomplish something great, and today they did that. They're champions of the world." The Guardians took the series 2-1. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the BCAC and a 38-22 record. CCBL Players of the Month Hitter - Kane Jarvis feasted on Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League pitching in May and today he walked off with the Batter of the Month award. The Mass Bay University second baseman rapped out a .500 batting average while collecting 28 hits, 4 home runs, 24 RBIs and 15 runs scored. During his career, Jarvis has notched 179 hits and a .378 average with 30 home runs and 104 RBIs. Pitcher - No doubt about it! UMass starter Fergus Parker earned his Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Month award. He made that very clear as he mowed his way through league hitters in May. During the month Parker chalked up a 3-0 record with a 1.46 ERA. The Minutemen star made 4 starts and surrendered 19 hits in 24.2 innings. He struck out 26 and walked 12. In his career, Parker has 16 wins and 12 losses and a 3.48 ERA. CYL Analysis We are now in the final four games of the 2312 season with games finishing on Tuesday, June 4. Woburn is also in the division race, while the Covenant Dandy Boys are seeking a wildcard spot. Four teams are out. Margaret Fuller Division Both the Circle Jerks and South Charles Bank Moonies are in the playoffs, with the Jerks currently up by two games. Five other teams are still in the hunt for a wildcard spot: Boston Common, Castle, Hester, North Charles Bank, and Diamond City. Boston Harbor and Boston College Prep are out. The Plymouth Hunters, New Bedford Whales, Attleboro Deejays, and Wareham Comets are all contending for wildcard spots. Wellfleet, Chatham, Provincetown, Harwich, and Eastham are all still in contention for a wildcard spot, while the Sandwich Screamers are the only team officially out. If the playoffs started today, these would be the seeds: NR 1. Saugus 2. Circle 3. Beantown 4. Sturbridge 5. South Charles Bank 6. Rockport 7. Stoneham 8. CIT Academy 9. Marblehead 10. Woburn 11. Chatham 11. Coventry 12. Provincetown 13. Hope 14. New Bedford 15. Harwich 16. East Providence CYL Players of the Month NR Hitter - Shane Powers made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the North Region this past month. The Boston Common Baby Bellies third baseman shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 16-year-old hit .406 with 15 home runs, 45 RBIs and 25 runs scored. This season, Powers is batting .349 with 25 home runs. He has scored 53 runs and driven in 83. SR Hitter - Ice Cream Horton may be much younger than other hitters in the South Region, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in May to win the Batter of the Month award. The 14-year-old Wellfleet left fielder hit .410 with 16 home runs, 33 RBIs and 34 runs scored. So far this year in 65 games, Horton is hitting .343 with 29 home runs, 68 RBIs and 70 runs scored. NR Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award in May has been selected and the North Region honor went to Castle hurler, Petie Pembroke. For his excellent performance he has been named the league's top pitcher. During the month, Pembroke was superb with a 1.15 ERA and 6 wins and no losses. In 54.2 innings he struck out 58 and gave up 28 hits and 14 walks. Pembroke has fashioned a 12-2 mark for the season, 2.68 ERA and thrown 117.1 innings in 17 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .214 against him. SR Pitcher - Lo Breitenstein took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the South Region Pitcher of the Month award for May. The 14-year-old Gnomes starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 7-1 won-lost record in 8 starts. This month he fanned 48 batters in 54 innings and compiled a 3.00 ERA. So far this year, Breitenstein has compiled a 13-1 record with a 2.72 ERA.

Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 June 2312 Quantum Great, Cherry Good Enough in Early NWL The Quantum Nukalurks have had an amazing start to the 2312, bursting out to a 17-5 record and a five-game lead just 22 games into the season. The Lurks have established themselves as the top pitching team so far, currently 1st in the NWL in runs allowed (70), Starters ERA (2.83), and Bullpen ERA (2.96). Starters Cameron Biehler (5-0, 1.55), Klick Cline (3-0, 1.87), and Echo Thompson (2-0, 2.77) have been great. RP Christiansen Mandelbrot (1-0, 0.87) has been the best reliever so far. Tummy Urchin (13 SV, 2.51) leads the league in saves, having as many saves as the second-best team has wins. In the South Bradberton Division, the Cherry Ghoulrillas have a one-game lead over the Orange Tourists. The Ghoulrillas are the top offensive team, leading seven offensive categories, including runs scored (125) and home runs (28). Hitting readers include 1B Swamp Dantin (.424/4/18), LF Everlast Barron (.418/4/9), RF Genius Jerry Kordic (.378/5/17), and 2B Tick Garrett (.369/6/26). For a rookie just breaking in, Swamp Dantin certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the NWL Batter of the Month award and Rookie of the Month award for May. The 26-year-old first baseman for the Cherry Ghoulrillas hit .424 with 4 home runs, 18 RBIs and 20 runs scored. The Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the Nuka World League trophy went to Quantum hurler, Cameron Biehler. During the month, Biehler was impressive with a 1.55 ERA and 5 wins and no losses. In 40.2 innings he struck out 20 and gave up 36 hits and 5 walks. In the APL, division leaders are the Safari Adventure Gazelles and Nuka Town Operators. The Gazelles are the APL's top scoring team (87 runs). The Kiddie Kingdom Cappies have allowed the fewest runs (49). Pizza Boy Tumbleweed put together a good May to earn the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Safari Adventure officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Gazelles right fielder posted a .400 batting average with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and 15 runs scored. When Bazine Netal takes the mound, a Nuka Town victory is usually the result. At least that's the way it was in May. He excelled with a 3-0 mark and a 1.72 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 31.1 innings, fanned 14 and held opposing batters to a .279 average. That's why the Operators starter was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Amusement Park League. In the NWLRL, division leaders are the Northpoint Reservoir Gulchers and the Hubologist Camp Barkers. The Dunmore Ferris Wheels lead the NWLRL in runs scored (100). As a strange occurrence so far, the Nuka Plant Electrics at 4-9 have allowed the fewest runs (66) and have only been outscored by seven runs. Mox Burtolemey is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Dunmore left fielder joined that select company when the NWL Rookie League announced the results of May's voting. Burtolemey totaled 16 hits, 13 walks, 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and 20 runs scored last month to put together a .340 batting average and .492 on-base percentage. Fred Johnson of Red Rocket had an award-winning May as he took home the NWL Rookie League Pitcher of the Month award. "He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Johnson's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in May except for Fred." Johnson was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 3-0 record in 4 starts. He struck out 26 batters in 20 innings and kept opponents to a .181 batting average. The Bradberton Boys League is in its final two weeks with the Wixon Shovels and Forest Park Brahmiluffs each leading their division by a game. All other teams are currently in contention with the Hilltop Farm Melonheads having the hardest road ahead at six games back with 13 to play. Even though he is a newcomer to Bradberton Boys League, Gage Novatron put up some good numbers in May and earned the BBL Batter of the Month award. He was one of Wixon's offensive leaders with a .437 average in 28 games. He also racked up 15 home runs, 35 RBIs, and 38 runs scored. An outstanding 3-0 record in May earned Nay Fukuoka the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Bradberton Boys League. When his name was penciled in to start on the Sherwood Manor lineup card, it meant trouble for opposing teams. In 39.1 innings of work, Fukuoka limited opposing batters to 24 base hits and a .175 batting average. He notched 56 strikeouts, issued 16 walks and had a 0.46 ERA. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 1 June 2312 Dalton Farm, Far Harbor Have Comfortable Leads Both the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers (four games) and the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales (five games) have comfortable leads in their divisions in the early part of the 2312 season. The last time either of those two teams won a championship was in 2306 when the Crawlers won their fourth-straight championship. Not known for his offensive prowess, Toppie Gunn set the league afire in May and took home the Vim! League Batter of the Month award. The Dalton Farm center fielder posted a steady .351 batting average, 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and 23 runs. Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Phil Cecil of the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers. He captured the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in May. Cecil started 6 games, threw 52 innings, yielded 49 hits and logged a 5-1 record. He put down 30 batters on strikes, walked 7 and compiled a 2.25 ERA. Opposing teams batted .247 against him. Teig O'Kane's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Far Harbor center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .371 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and 8 home runs. O'Kane also scored 18 times and drove in 25 runs. In the MDIL, division leaders are the Cliff's Edge Actors and Eagle's Cove Harpooners. The Actors are tops in runs allowed (38) at fewer than three allowed per game. The Oceanarium Oceanics have been the top offensive team with 89 runs scored. Stopdrop Pilkington battered Mount Desert Island League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Mount Desert Island League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Pilkington told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 11 games, Pilkington hit .348 with 6 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 13 runs. The Mount Desert Island League scribes have selected May's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Joel Johnson of Cliff's Edge. He was outstanding on the hill last month and has the numbers to prove it -- a 2-0 record. The Actors star performer made 2 starts with a 1.12 ERA and surrendered 7 hits in 16 innings. He struck out 6 and walked 4. In the Vim! Rookie League, leaders are the Glowing Grove Braniacs and Fringe Cove Champions. The Champions are the top offensive team, including the most runs scored (120) at over nine runs per game. The Braniacs are the top pitching team, leading the league in runs allowed (70). Snap, crackle and pop! In May, Swampy Butterscotch snapped up the VIM! Rookie League Batter of the Month trophy by cracking 21 hits and popping 6 home runs. For the month he hit a solid .429 with 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored. The Rock Point left fielder also picked up 12 walks to compile a .556 on-base percentage. With his 0-0 record and 0.00 ERA in May, Red Steamer's selection as the VIM! Rookie League Pitcher of the Month was well deserved. He made 8 relief appearances, racking up 6 saves, 11 strikeouts and 1 walk in 8.1 innings. In the Maine Youth Leagues, the Far Harbor Dockdwellers and Echo Point Glowers are the division leaders in the last two weeks. Far Harbor has a three-game lead, while the Glowers have just a one-game lead over Diamond Cove. At only 14 years of age, Vimmy Vim could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Beaver Creek Bowlers, as May was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the Mount Desert Island Four Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .309 with 17 home runs, 43 RBIs and 37 runs scored. Porky Ashley has a lot going for him. The Pleasant Cove left fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the Great Diamond Island League has just picked him as its top hitter for May. In 27 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .433 with 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and 25 runs scored. The Mount Desert Island Four hitters didn't have a chance in May when the National Park Rangers manager wrote "Bennett" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Reardon Bennett held teams in check and usually got a win. He excelled with a 3-0 mark and 1.06 ERA in 5 starts. The talented Rangers star pitched 34 innings, fanned 40 and held opposing teams to a .129 average. For his superb mound work Bennett was named the MDIF Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. The Pitcher of the Month Award has been announced and the Great Diamond Island League winner is Diamond Cove hurler, Cookie Jones. For his fine efforts in May he has been named the league's #1 pitcher. During the month, Jones excelled with a 2.48 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 40 innings he struck out 43 and gave up 37 hits and 0 walks.

June 2312
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 3 June 2312 CBO Analysis At 51 games into the season, each association currently has seven teams apiece that would be considered in the playoff hunt. We will take a look at the current playoff standings. Though teams still have 79 games to go, we think that there are some indications of what teams will be in the sell vs buy positions heading into July. We will also be covering some of what Commissioner Nate Howard feels is the future of baseball in the Commonwealth as he has spread his tentacle far beyond the Boston area and is looking to make the CBO a staple of the entirety of the New England Commonwealth. But first, CBO the past two weeks. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Salem Witch Hats (120.5, o) 2) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (113.9, o) 3) Roxbury Rad Sox (110.8, ++) 4) Bunker Hill 75ers (108.2, ++) 5) Oberland T-51s (104.4, ++) 6) The Slog Ghouls (103.8, -) 7) Egret Ninjas (99.8, --) 8) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (99.8, ++) 9) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (99.4, -) 10) Starlight Killers (98.2, o) 11) Goodneighbor Hancocks (97.8, ++) 12) County Crossing Bloodbugs (97.2, +) 13) Vault 81 Dwellers (96.4, --) 14) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (92.2, ++) 15) FHE Yao Guai (89.2, --) 16) Easy Town Assaultrons (89.2, +) 17) Nahant Celtics (89.2, -) 18) Concord Radstags (88.2, ++) 19) University Point Deathclaws (87.2, --) 20) Southie Brews (84.2, ++) 21) Spectacle Island Reapers (83.8, --) 22) Diamond City Swatters (83.2, --) 23) Cambridge Coursers (80.2, --) 24) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (70.2, -) 25) Atom Cats (67.6, --) 26) Quincy Gunners (66.1, -) 27) Malden Grognaks (52.9, o) 28) Lexington Synths (51.9, o) If the playoffs started today, these would be the seeds: NCA 1. Salem 2. Fort Hagen 3. Nordhagen Beach (3-2 record vs The Slog) 4. The Slog 5. Starlight (3-2 vs Bunker Hill, 19-12 vs NCA) 6. CC (16-15 in NCA) ----------- 7. Bunker Hill (2-3 vs Starlight, 15-16 vs NCA) SCA 1. Roxbury 2. Jamaica Plain 3. Oberland (3-2 vs Vault 81) 4. Vault 81 (2-3 vs Oberland) 5. Egret (2-0 vs Goodneighbor) 6. Goodneighbor (0-2 vs Egret) Brotherhood League The BL has four teams above .500, two teams just a game below .500, and then Malden, which at 17-34 already looks to be out of the playoff race and became the first team in 2312 to can their manager. Salem has the CBO's largest league lead at seven games, as well as the top CBO record by three games, making the Witch Hats the #1 team in the CBO. Nordhagen Beach has been streaky this season, but with a 6-4 mark in their last 10, the Party Boys are in a tie with The Slog for 2nd place. The Boys' offense is not as good as it once was, currently 8th in runs scored (239). Two players have been outstanding on offense: LF Gorgeous DiGiacomo (.356/10/39) and 35-year-old CF Maxx Murtagh (.335/11/35). 1B Young Goodman (.199/5/17) may have hit the cliff in his career. Nordhagen Beach's pitchers are still good, currently 3rd in runs allowed (227). SPs Beachboy Nut (6-1, 3.38) and Deedee Martinson (3-1, 2.30) are doing there thing. The Boys also brought on SP D.P. Clark (4-3, 4.00) from Jamaica Plain to help boost the pitching. Institute League Fort Hagen is still cruising along with both Starlight and Bunker Hill the only other teams in the IL above .500. Sunshine Tidings has been better of late, too, and can find themselves back in the playoff hunt if they keep winning as they started doing in mid-May. Lexington has the CBO's worst record and should start looking to building a future contender. Bunker Hill is tied with The Slog for the best 10-game stretch (8-2) in the NCA, to go along with a current CBO-high seven-game winning streak. While they are still on the outside looking in as a playoff seed, the 75ers are now looking as though they belong in the contenders talk. The 75ers are 4th in runs scored (279) and tied for 7th in runs allowed (247). LF Jig McGhee (.341/6/39/12 SB) has been the best all-around hitter, while SP Harley Buechel (6-1, 2.27) has been the best pitcher. Minutemen League This is the league we expect to be the most volatile as we approach the midway point of the season. While Jamaica Plain currently holds a one-game lead over Goodneighbor, there are still chances for teams like Universty Point and Spectacle Island to get in the middle of the race to win the Minutemen League. One team that does not appear to be in the race, currently possessing the SCA's worst record, is Quincy. Picked to finish 4th in the league, the Gunners are nowhere near as good as the record they were predicted to have and now a team with lots of talent needs to start thinking about what can be done to get on track in future seasons. After missing the playoffs despite finishing over .500 in 2311, the Gunners thought they were ready to return to the playoffs, something they planned to build on after winning the ML in 2310. Instead, Quincy is freefalling thanks to the 11th-best scoring team (227 runs) in the SCA and 13th-best in runs allowed (290). All four starters have ERAs above 5.00 with ace SP Silk Inflosse (2-7, 5.28) being the "best" of the group. 3B Shirt Fowler (.330/3/22) is the only Gunner hitting over .300. SS Pipewrench Mathis (.251/7/20/3 SB) leads the team in homers and is tied for the stolen bases lead. Railroad League Oh, oh, Railroad League. You let Roxbury get back in the race and take the league lead, putting them one game ahead of the Red Rockets, Oberland, and Vault 81 for the SCA's best record. This league is goos with a CBO-best five teams above .500 and a struggling Diamond City team just one game below .500. Only Glowing Sea appears to be out of the playoff hunt in a tough league. For the Rad Sox, they are looking to repeat and getting what they need to get there despite not standing out statistically. The Sox are 8th in runs scored (243), which is impressive since they rank below 8th in every hitting category. They are also 3rd in runs allowed (213), helped a lot by having the top bullpen (3.65 ERA). 3B Donn Mattingley (.343/15/43) is in the Nuka Hitter Award conversation, and SP Urm Rehfeldt (3-1, 1.09) has been solid. CL Professor Harriel (16 SV, 2.45) is not as dominant as he was last season, but he is still tied for the CBO lead in saves. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 27 - 26-year-old KiJana Mallee sent shock waves through Commonwealth Baseball Organization last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Mallee made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .500 average, 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in. Where the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud first baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Mallee certainly made his mark last week. Mallee is currently batting .287 with 4 home runs and 22 RBIs. Veteran Barker Cocoa had a great week at the plate for the Deathclaws to capture the majority of votes for Player of the Week in the South Charles Association. The 33-year-old University Point first baseman built a .500 average on the strength of 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 4 home runs and 10 RBIs. For the year, Cocoa is batting .294 with 17 home runs, 38 RBIs and 37 runs scored. June 3 - After all of Maxx Murtagh's years in baseball, some have suggested -- albeit very delicately -- that he should think about calling it quits. But the "mature adult," as he calls himself, showed last week that he's still capable of keeping up with the youngsters. The 35-year-old Nordhagen Beach center fielder was honored today as the North Charles Association Player of the Week. He fended off all comers by posting a .708 average with 17 hits in 24 at-bats, 4 home runs and 12 RBIs. Murtagh is currently hitting .335 with 11 home runsand 35 RBIs, while scoring 36 runs. It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Rock Rampage, the University Point Deathclaws 22-year-old shortstop, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 9 hits in 28 at-bats, compiling a .321 average with 5 home runs and 14 RBIs. This season, Rampage has posted a batting average of .316 with 61 hits in 193 at-bats, 12 home runs and 38 RBIs. He has also scored 31 runs, walked 12 times and compiled a .353 OBP. CBO Noteworthy News May 31 - The Malden Grognaks announced today that they have fired manager Eric Bendure. "We've decided to move in another direction," general manager Arneson explained to the assembled press. "We appreciate all the work that Eric has done for the organization and we wish him well in the future. Unfortunately, we felt that his vision for the team and our own were too different to be reconciled and so we mutually decided to part ways." June 2 - History was made today at Easy Town Field -- Pete Pembroke won game #150 to seal his name in the league record books. The Easy Town ace downed the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets 4-0 to gain entrance into the elite 150 Club. "I was wound up at first. I think I threw too hard," remarked Pembroke, "I had to calm down and go out there and pitch... not just throw. I think I got better as the game wore on. I started to think less about 150 wins and more about doing what I had to do." Since coming into the league, Pembroke has a 150-117 mark and a 3.98 ERA. The 37-year-old hurler also has struck out 1328 batters in 2254 innings and permitted 2325 hits. He is just the 14th pitcher in CBO history to win 150 games. Nordhagen Beach's Beachboy Nut is the all-time leader with 220 wins. CBO Transactions Monday, June 3rd , 2312 Lexington Synths: Released RP Junie Celani. Off the Beaten Path: CBO Talks We mentioned at the top that Commissioner Nate Howard has been working diligently toward expanding Commonwealth baseball throughout New England. He has not given us the specific details, but we have been able to gather more information as the Commonwealth continues to work on infrastructure. We have no idea how long it may take, but we could be looking at the CBO involving teams throughout the New England Commonwealth instead of just the Boston area as it is now. Here are a few thoughts we have been able to piece together: * Talks have ramped up considerably about the CBO absorbing the youth leagues for the Nuka World League and Vim! League. While players in those youth leagues are tied to the Season Pass Association, it was revealed that teams are not budgeting for scouting in those leagues and instead have relied on undrafted free agents and cut veterans to populate their leagues. The CBO is expected to take full control either this year or sometime before the start of the 2313 season. * Speaking of youth leagues, we do not know yet what will happen in regards to the Commonwealth Youth League and those Bradberton and Maine youth leagues, but we do know several other settlement towns are fielding youth teams in 2313. In other words, the baby boom and expanded immigration starting in 2298 has come into full bloom. There is need for more and more accommodations with baseball being the king sport of the Commonwealth. While there are other sports teams, no other sport is organized like the CBO's machine is. * The college ranks will also expand as the CBO is looking to bring in as many as 24 new institutions of higher education into the field. Whether all 24 enter next year or in the near future, those colleges and universities have been working on recruiting teams in anticipation of being competitive and building CBO-quality competitors. Some of the schools that have already fielded teams for at least three years that we anticipate to join are in the Connecticut and Rhode Island regions. Teams from those regions are expected to make up the Southern Commonwealth Conference, also referred to as the SoCom. Some of those teams already competing against each other and planning to join next season or 2314 are Yale University, Hartford College, the University of Connecticut, Brown University, Providence College, and Rhode Island University. In all, 12 teams currently compete in the SoCom. The other six teams that may join in 2313 or later, depending on their readiness, are the Fairfield University Stags, Coastal University Clams, East Connecticut State University Warriors, Westerly Education Academy Owls, University of Narragansett Tide, and Hope Valley University Hikers. * With the extreme drop-offs in popularity with the Season Pass Association, especially since they have not increased their talent, some rumblings have been about the CBO potentially purchasing those leagues, too. There have been no serious talks that we know of, but supposedly league interest owners and de facto commissioners, John-Caleb Bradberton and Small Bertha, are looking to make a money move at some point. As the two people controlling the money of their regions, the CBO is the only possibility we can see. What would it mean for the CBO? Perhaps they could make a Nuka World team and Far Harbor team for the CBO. We are not sure if that is viable. We would think that a Nuka World team could work since there is a direct rail line connecting Bradberton to the Boston area. It could also mean swallowing up the leagues. * That brings us to the last issue, though there needs to be movement now for that to be a reality. As of this morning, there were 1844 free agents registered with the CBO. With 28 teams, that would come out to at least 65 players available per team in the CBO. You see what we're getting at? The CBO has bounced around the possibility of there being a fourth minor league, what would be an A-level league. With Commissioner Howard wanting to expand throughout the Commonwealth, that could mean teams in Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Connecticut to join the minors. That would actually make more sense in the short term to add minors to those far-out places rather than trying to expand the CBO before there are significant travel and broadcast infrastructures in place. ArcJet supposedly has been testing communication satellites. With some of the BNN broadcasting equipment in place, those satellites could expand the Commonwealth's ability to communicate through further regions, which could one day include sending signals as far as if not beyond the Capital Wasteland. That means all of the New England Commonwealth would be able to watch and/or listen to every single baseball game in the region.

I'm sure it's happened before, but it's somewhat surprising how divided the associations are. The NCA division winners have a nice cushion while the entire SCA is pretty bunched up. Even the Radscorpions are within ten games of first! And I think all teams are still within single digits of a playoff spot! Plenty of runway lefty but it will be interesting to see if things end this way too
Also have to say, Heaven Fontenot has to be the my new favorite CBO player name. Name kind of rolls of the tounge too. Of course there are so many good ones, but seeing a Fallout version of Mike Fontenot turn into a top pitcher makes me so happy |

![]() I am happy you are recognizing LSU names, but Heaven Fontenot is a representation of a current LSU pitcher and all time games pitched leader for LSU, Devin Fontenot. I am not sure if Devin is related to Mike, though they are both Fontenots to play at LSU. My universe's Mike Fontenot is Mike Fountaineau, a 2311 1st-round draft pick by Concord currently playing with their GBRL team, the Westing Estate Alphas. Fountaineau is a SS at 45/80, so he will not stay in the minors long. His high defensive ratings are a good part of that current and potential, but he is also scouted as a hard-hitting infielder. His probable CBO position is 3B, though he can play anywhere on the infield as needed. The Stags also have a decently good array of young infielders, so it would be interesting to see what they do to work Fountaineau in.

Had to look up Devin, doesn't look like he's related to Mike. But interesting how two seemingly unrelated Fontenots ended up on LSU. I don't think I've heard the last name anywhere outside of baseball |
