Congratulations to the Nowhere Men!
The Men won their battle with the Mad Brewers, whilst my 2 never showed up (Knockemstiff 1-11 against Nowhere and Silly ).Winning ends to the season were enough to drag Paxville into the playoffs, and save Knockemstiff from relegation (at the expense of the unfortunate Mad Brewers). And Nowhere came through in another tight battle for the NC wildcard spots. Good luck in the playoffs! |

Congratulations to the..................... Port Ruppert Mundys!!
It's been a tough week trying to suppress my natural urge to voice positive predictions for the Mundys ![]() Good luck to the playoff teams, and commiserations to Waffletown. They ran Port Ruppert close in OL, then got mugged by Brooklyn for the wildcard! Also, no relegations this week, which is quite a feat with 12 spots! |

Early PT Playoff Update
The New York Rangers AHL team, the Hartford Wolfpack is playing Hershey this afternoon, so I might be later than usual (except for those times when I've fallen asleep) with next week's assignments. Looking forward to seeing Nils Lundquist, Lauri Pajuniemi (pictured below), Zach Jones, Tyler Wall, et al.
I've used the universe screen to get an early feel and, right now, bronze has the most teams, though silver will eventually pass them by. There could be all-OL World Series in all four levels. My Asylum team faded in the stretch and so will face their stablemates from Terra Incognita in the wild card, which means at least one of them will be remaining in bronze. Gee, I wonder how may leagues PT can scatter OL to next season. Good luck to those still playing. |

great finish with that last wild card spot coming down to game 162... unfortunately the Syrups lost to a team they should have beat in the final game (walk-off bottom of the 9th home run for extra dramatics) and fell a game short instead of forcing a tiebreaker with Brooklyn.... of course, if Waffletown could have not been owned by Cincy (3-16) and just won a few games in that series, it wouldn't have mattered... ah well, not-ready-for-Diamond-time anyway, so better off staying put good luck all still playing one card to go for the PT23 Robinson mission.... |

one card to go for the PT23 Robinson mission....
It seems OOTP is trying to tempt me to stay on. I actually already had the cards for the Brooks Robinson, though I was a few days late in checking in. It was a nice surprise. He was so amazing in in the 1970 World Series. I remember begging my older sister to watch at her house because we still had black and white TV. There may have also been some skipping of school, though I don't remember that for sure, it being not a particularly infrequent occurrence. I was about 5 months old during the 1970 WS, so don't remember much of it ![]() Brooks looks pretty good in a Syrups uni... huzzah! I used to only buy new versions of OOTP sporadically (figured not a whole lot changed from version to version most times, so just stuck with the one I had awhile); around v14 I started looking at it more of an entertainment investment each year... usually launch the game at least once a day to check in and/or mess around with the base game, so it's a pretty solid return on cost vs entertainment hours |
I was about 5 months old during the 1970 WS, so don't remember much of it
![]() Wow, don't I feel old! In 1970, I was just shy of winning the draft lottery (we're number 1 ) after which I joined the Air Force. Being what I considered a fairly smart fellow, I figured they'd probably get to one. I had a brother who'd been to Vietnam and his experience convinced me that four years in the Air Force was a better deal. I believe I made the right choice. The Air Force was a job, not an adventure. ![]() As for the base game, it's okay, but I still have an older version of Strat-O-Matic on my PC, with a bunch of older seasons. I also have tons of Strat cards around here somewhere, if I want to go old school. I think I just prefer Strat because that's where I started, and the game seems more "hands on" in terms of managing. I guess what I'm saying is, I wouldn't buy OOTP just for the base game. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 01-23-2022 at 10:39 AM. |

Silver
Coney Island hangs on in a tight race. OL teams take 9 of 10 playoff spots, but also six relegation spots.
More on what happened in Silver later, but here are the tables for now... |

yeah, everyone's experience will vary depending on what you were used to previously.... my pre-OOTP game was Micro League (with the Ron Cey-like penguin runners )... when my discs gave out and they weren't making the game anymore, had to find a substitute and that's when I came across this one (v2 I believe)

More from Silver's 2063 season...
As everyone knows by now, Coney Island won the title, but HelthWyzer put up quite the fight before the crown was claimed. It wasn't until the penultimate day of the season that the Warriors were able to capture the flag. HelthWyzer won their 5th OL game in a row on that Saturday, but a Pedro Martinez 3-hitter against Bluffton was enough to do the Crakes in. Other notes from this season... Pitching Highlight New York's Cy Young threw a perfect game against Bluffton on August 8. Young struck out 11 and used 101 pitches for the 27 batters he faced. Hitting Highlight Sunday’s Rod Carew went 5-for-5, with a 3-run HR plus a walk, in the Drivers’ win over Shinbone on April 26. Carew drove in six and scored five times. MVP My pick is Keystone’s Dan Brouthers. He gets the nod in a tight race with Sonora’s Mike Trout and Ostego’s Mickey Mantle. Brouthers won the battle title over Trout with a .350 average, was second to Mantle in RBI with 117, and tied Trout for the lead in OPS with 1.011. CY YOUNG This is almost too close to call. In the end, HelthWyzer’s Jacob DeGrom gets the nod for his league-leading ERA, WAR, K’s, K’s/9, K/BB ratio, WHIP, FIP, ERA+, Opp. Avg., and Quality starts. Strong consideration was given to Coney Island’s Greg Maddux for this award. |

Ostego knocked out the only non-OL team in the Wildcard, assuring Silver of an OL champion.

So Cary did fail in the "playoff" regular season game, and will be back in Diamond next season. So three of the four teams in diamond this season will be back next season, right? Also, what about Gold? Are there any OL teams moving up?

Port Ruppert Mundys are heading to Diamond after a very impressive season. They are in the Gold WS right now and lead 3-2.
