Gold league:
Brooklyn and Waffletown beat up on each other, and Algoma went 5-2 against Brooklyn to tighten up the race significantly. |

Farmhands Hold on to Lead in B357
West Burlington continues to lead, but Iron Maiden posted a 15-6 mark to make the chase a three-team struggle, while Left Coast maintain their hot pursuit.

Cary slightly strengthened their position by taking the one series against Nowhere 2-1.
Hoping for a strong finish from Knockestiff, Nowhere and Port Ruppert to avoid relegation, but it's gonna be tough. |

Gold league:
Brooklyn still holding the lead but more teams joining the bunch at the top, with Sonora HS moving into the second spot, Waffletown, Algoma, and Seattle right behind; and the always dangerous Mad Brewers not far off the pace. |

Just the one set between Knockemstiff and Nowhere, which went 2-1 to the Shiners.

Warriors Face Busy OL Slate in Final Stanza
Coney Island ripped a 19-4 page off the calendar in August and seems poised to defend its silver crown. With 26 OL games on tap in the final weeks, there may be enough room for the Warriors to stumble, however, their performance this season makes that seem unlikely. Cleveland, which notched a perfect 6-0 month to draw a little closer, seems the best positioned for a challenge with 13 OL games of their own yet to play. Keystone, which has seven against Coney Island, has the most opportunity to play spoiler, but also has to climb past five other teams. Among the rest of the contenders, Baltimore has nine games left, San Francisco, 13, and Route 66, 14.

Farmhands Still Lead Three-way Race in OL B357
West Burlington muddled through a 3-2 August to hold onto the lead in the crown chase. Iron Maiden was hot, at 6-3, to draw even with Left Coast, which was 3-2 for the month. The Wasted Years and Labrats face off for an early three-game series, which could determine who will best challenge the front-running Farmhands. Iron Maiden and Left Coast each have nine games in total remaining, while West Burlington has 10 left.

Reorganization to Remain Relevant Results in Mundys Morass
It has become my habit of late to only make changes after the playoffs on Sunday evening, after spending Sunday morning opening packs and, on occasion, completing the odd mission. However, I was off on Friday, and, in an effort to move out of relegation, I opened my stash of packs and spent close to 100K (almost half for Yogi) to try and get some more "meta-like" players into the lineup, ending up adding Collins at second, the aforementioned Yogi, and Arky Vaughn (who had been on the roster until I got Campaneris for short), as well as deGrom on the mound. It resulted in a 10-20 record, the team's worst performance of the year. My desperation to delay demotion from diamond has seemingly failed. With that in mind, I am going forward with an idea that has been at the back of my mind for awhile. I'm gonna start playing favorites, whatever the results. The team will find its level over the last weeks of PT 22.
Of course Willie Mays is first. After that, the criteria will be highly scientific. For example, we had a wiffle ball league when I was around 8-years-old and my team was the Cardinals. We made our own jerseys from T-shirts and mine was Musial. Therefore, Stan makes the squad. There was a mechanic at our local gas station where I used to go with a jug to buy kerosene for a heater who looked just like Yogi Berra, so Yogi is in. Also, I loved Berra's "Me-hee for Yoo-hoo," commercials on TV when I was little (I'm talking late '50's). By the way, I was like five or six when I used to walk to get that kerosene. Different world. Bert Campaneris should remain because I loved the Athletics first green and gold uniform combinations. Also, my Strat-O-Matic play-by-mail team, from the 14 years leading up to 2000 has players for me to consider like Ozzie, Smoltz, Rijo, Kile. I will limit myself to 100 level players, just because I have so may cards. I also read tons of baseball history when I was younger, so there are some old-timers that are favorites. My, I do go on. Just wanted to let you know I'm not tanking, just trying to have some fun at the end here. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 01-29-2022 at 07:51 AM. |

Just want say, Stanley, love your input, very much including any of your tales from a "different world". I plan to check out '23 from the start, so (selfishly) I hope you'll be around too
.I don't imagine anyone in OL will be accusing you of tanking! I think I'm gonna have a play around with Knockemstiff and Seattle's rosters, and that may well make the Shiners a bit weaker. I heard there's some savage weather on the east coast. Is it bad where you are? |

No, we here in Harrisburg, PA, were just beyond the western edge of the storm, so we got about an inch of snow, though it is frightfully windy and cold. I'll be calling my sister back in the old country (NYC) later, so I'll get a report on the storm. It's funny, but Knockemstiff's rally out of relegation was what inspired me to go for it yesterday. Well, perhaps my playing favorites recipe will have RNG deities smile upon me. Might be time to get Joba back for a turn. |

That's a solid bunch that you've listed anyway, but I've become quite impressed by how many cards are actually playable, up to a point. Gold is really quite diverse, but even Diamond is a lot more varied than the extreme meta of 21. With any card that looks half decent, it's kind of a case of any dog can have it's day. Weak defense limits freedom the most IMO and has kept some players I'd like to play off my rosters.
Anyway, maybe the Mundys will have a 9-game winning streak like Nowhere! |

Gold league:
Waffletown (15-5) and Sonora HS (8-3) both had a solid month of OL play to jump ahead of Brooklyn as we head down the final stretch. 9 games remain for all three: Waffletown (6 vs Sugar Hill; 3 vs HethWyzer); Sonora HS (3 vs Seattle; 3 vs Annandale; 3 vs Silly); Brooklyn (3 vs Sugar Hill; 2 vs Lemp Ave; 4 vs Otsego). Algoma and Silly also not out of contention. With the right combination of losses of teams ahead and wins of their own, either one could leapfrog to the top. |

Congratulations to the Cary Southpaws!
Things were actually kind of done yesterday, apart from the Mundys and Kings deciding their final placings, but I don't like announcing the winner before Awards Sunday. A few games here and there and anyone could have won, but in terms of the battle between Cary and Paxville, it swung on the head-to-head again (4-2) which the loser (me) can't complain about! In PT, both went out like trains from the start, and both stuttered a bit in the second half, but Cary were more consistent. Nowhere (tough division) and Knockemstiff survived by their fingernails and the skin of their teeth respectively, but Port Ruppert weren't as fortunate as the Shiners. Good luck in the playoffs! |

Warriors September Surge Secures Silver Crown
Coney Island set a blistering pace in the final weeks, going 22-4, to win the OL S407 crown in a near walk over. In PT play, an all OL World Series is possible. There could be as many as three going to gold. No promotions at all is also possible.. Four teams dropped to bronze.

Iron Maiden Survives to Bring Home OL B357 Crown
The Wasted Years capitalized on the Farmhands fade and, despite dropping two-of-three to Left Coast, survived the war of attrition that were the last weeks of the 2064 season. West Burlington dropped four straight against Asheboro early, then seemingly righted the ship with four wins in-a-row, before losing their final three to fall from first. In PT, as many as four could go up to silver, with at least two sure promotions. An all-OL Series is in play. There were no relegations.
