I think even just .dat files would be a pretty big task without hi-speed. Guess this won't work.
I was only interested because it might provide evidence that its a league issue rather than a game or computer issue. I.E., I'm not seeing it in any of my leagues right now, but if I imported your league and saw the same issue, it seems to me that would indicate a league problem. Whereas, if I imported it and DIDN'T see the issue, then it would seem to me to indicate a game/computer issue strictly on your system. It was just a thought. I know I HATED this issue when it hit me in OOTP2007. |

Ok,two things,I know this sounds crazy, but could it be that its just happening to people who use the Phillies? I've started two leagues used the Phillies both times and both times the "bug" was present.i find it hard to believe its a corrupted file because its happened to me in both of the leagues I've started, the chances of the same file getting corrupted is miniscule.Secondly I'd be willing to send you my zipped file but I need step by step instructions how to do this.I'm using Vista if that matters

They were both started in OOTP 8,newest edition(i didn't purchase the game until 2 months ago) The second league is the one I imported into OOTP 9,that league is still active

I'm not sure sending those to me will help prove or disprove my speculation about it being a league issue since they were both started in a previous version. But it is amazing that you were able to reproduce and I wasn't. I know I HATED that thing when it hit my league. It makes it unplayable for me because I play out all of my games, and I would never have injured pitchers.

I have the same problem,I play out all of the games and right now i'm stuck with two games that I purchased and can't play.I'm actually pretty PO'd.Come to think of it,I'm going to start a new historical league and try to injur a pitcher. If it crashes in the new version of the game I have no choice but to ask for a refund and cease being a customer.

Also, don't give up completely. It looks like from above that Markus is still going to look into this. I know I hated to lose that league I lost. But so far, I'm finished over a year in my new one, and have had several pitchers hurt, and so far no crashes. :knocks on wood: |

Like I've said this is a brand new historical league create with this version of the game. That doesn't bother me enough to stop playing, but it's not ideal since I have to replay the games and injure the pitcher myself by editing an injury. Is it enough with the dat files (21.6 meg) on this picture or you need more? ![]() |

Well, if speed is not a concern, it would make my nitpicker side happy to have the whole saved league directory, just to make sure if it IS a league issue, I get every conceivable league file that could be the cause. I will PM you with my email address, and if you can zip up the entire saved league directory to me, I will fire it up and see if it also crashes and burns on my system.
If speed IS still a factor tomorrow, you can go into the game and do an in game backup, which creates a directory of all the .dat files, and then just zip up that directory. Will PM my email address pronto. I hope we can all figure this one out because it really does make the game unplayable for those who want to play out every game since they will have an unfair advantage. |

I'll send it tomorrow. The problem was fixed with the last patch of the 2007 version for me. I just hope that Markus will find what is responsible this time. P.S : You're right about the advantage that's why I create the injury, but I can't know what the game as in mind. |

New 2009 fictional league, 5th game of Spring Training my SP gets injured and while I'm putting the new pitcher in the 9th slot in the order "OOTP has stopped working" or whatever it says. the injury came after the opposition hit a double so it wasn't even the end of the inning. Big pain, for me (but not the SP who gets his injury immediately repaired!).

I can verify that we tried every way to possible to test this and we could never duplicate it. We even had Markus create a INJURY PITCHER button and we tried and tried to resolve it. As far as code, Markus spent quite a bit of time to look at what could cause it.
It is a major pain in the butt. But, I hate to say this, but I do suggest that you go into game settings and change the option to save games to every day if you play games out. As if this happens after you played 8 games in a row, you lose all 8 games. This way, you would just lose the game in progress. I know, not a perfect solution, but they have tried every thing possible to see what causes this. Our biggest problem during beta is that we do not get to play a LOT of games out like you guys can now do. We did not like to carry saved games over from build to build, because of the possible problems that could be caused from the game being created with a different build. So, there just is not enough time between builds to play out a lot of games. It just makes it very difficult to find rare bugs like this. We will re-open this bug so Markus can go over the pitcher replacement code with a fine tooth comb.

I've left all of the particulars over in the tech support forum.I'd also be willing to send you my league file if you think that will help

Just to put this on record,I started a brand new league in OOTP 9.1977 historical default options.I purposely injured a pitcher and replaced him with no problem, the game didn't crash. This shows me that it has to be a corrupted file somewhere, the only thing different from my other leagues was I didn't use the Phillies.

It's not the end of the world (there are things worst than that), but a little bit annoying. I've already send my .dat files to OFG so we will know if the problem is my system. But I'm sure that my computer is ok to play the game. |

That is the problem with this bug, it just randomly seems to happen, we can't figure out any pattern for it to happen. It could be something bizarre, like it only happens when the score is 5-5 or there is only 1 pitcher with endurance above xxx or it is Tuesday and raining outside. We just can't get Markus to duplicate it when he is in his programming enviroment, and beleive me, we have tried.
In fact, PETA called me because they heard I was injuring a lot of Tigers and Cubs. Quote:

I'm not the brightest bulb to ever grace the dark, and I'm in no way at all technically savvy, so after this post, I won't bother you guys that do know what you're doing.
But I play out all of my games too and this bug really bugged me when it hit me, so I've injured over 100 pitchers trying desperately to reproduce it. No luck. Since I got version 9 and read this thread, I've tried again, to no avail. But AESP-Pres sent me his league files via email, and I started playing his league. After upping pitchers injury levels all the way up as well as league injury frequency to Very High, I got my first injured pitcher in the 4th game I played. And BLAM. Crash city. I restarted OOTP9, started again, this time on my 7th game a pitcher was injured, and BLAM, it crashed again. Again, I'm no techy at all, and won't post anymore on the subject. But the fact that I COULD NOT reproduce this on my leagues, and then the FIRST INJURY (and second) that occurred with AESP_Pres's league it crashed, really makes me think it is SOMETHING in the league itself. Again, sorry I've posted in this thread so much but because I play out all of mine I am very interested in this thing getting fixed. Good luck to all of you. Thank all of you for your work in this game, and I do hope you find the problem. EDIT: And I was just looking at this thread again in its entirety and if I'm not mistaken, AESP_Pres's system is an XP system, and mine is Vista. Don't know if the different systems means much, but to an everyday joe like myself it seems another indication that its in the league files rather than the game engine files. Obviously, something is causing the league files to be messed up, but that still could be external to the game itself couldn't it??? Like power outages, etc??? Sorry, OK now I'm done. FatGuy, that league needs to be uploaded. Can you find the 'how to upload files to us' sticky and do that? I'll try to find the link if you can't. Thanks for checking into this. A league file in which it CAN be reproduced, even with a little effort, will no doubt be of help in determining what may be contributing to the problem. You should only need to send the .dat files, if that's what you have.
Here it is: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-files-us.html
