The problem is that we still don't have your league files, and we still don't know if you're running those games with the human in charge of substitutions. Any luck uploading?

On the other hand, I can assure you in these games that the entire game was being run by the AI manager - intentionally. If I were doing the substitutions then I would have only myself to blame.

Addendum: pic2 shows that the AI manager left the pitcher in until he threw 138 pitches! Wow!

Does the other manager, here, let his pitcher (W. Spahn) bat?

That manager is me and, in this case, yes.

BTW, Abermonk, I had to do a double-take on your stadium pic. The one scoreboard shows Madonna, the other A-Rod?

Here's a box score from my just completed game. Both teams were computer controlled. Castrovalva was set to quickest hook (as per my previous postings). Neither pitcher was replaced - and just look at both of the pitch counts. Holy Yogi Berra - 156 pitches!! What's going on?

1) You need to individually set the pitch count limit for all your pitchers based on their specific endurance and age under the Action> Set Game Strategy tab at bottom of the player profile page. This has a major effect on hooking the pitcher when this pitch count limit is approximately reached. A setting of 110 pitches for a 16 (out of 20) endurance pitcher is about right on average, although you may want to lower the count slightly for a very young pitcher. (...95/13, 100/14, 105/15, 110/16, 115/17...etc.)
2) Also, check that you set the Hooking Starting Pitchers AND Pinch-Hit for Pitchers settings for ALL situations on the Strategy tabs- especially for the 7-8th innings and the 9th+ inning. The tab names are correct: towards Slow means slower to remove from game, so you may need to move the Hooking slider towards Quick in your case for later innings. Likewise, move the Pinch-Hit slider towards Frequently in the later innings. 3) Lastly, I believe the AI uses your strategy settings as a rough guide for its' own strategy decisions too. Just a guess, but it seems to roughly follow my own changes. Hope this helps! Last edited by BoHill; 07-11-2008 at 08:19 PM. |

And under League Setup->Strategy, what are your Pitcher Endurance and Use of Relievers settings?
