I'm having this same problem trying to use version 9.2.7. I replace the .exe file that I currently have (9.2.2) and try to run the game and it does nothing. The .exe does show up on task manager for about 2 seconds then goes away. Is there any update on this? Does it have something to do with eLicense?

I have only experienced this problem when trying to update just the .exe file. Every other major patch that I have downloaded I chose to download the whole game again.

An owner in my league is experiencing this problem as well. It began when he tried to upgrade from version 9.2.2 to 9.2.3. There was no auto-installer for that version, something that may have played into it. Now we're trying to get him up to the new version 9.2.7 (the security update) and he's having the same trouble. <style> .hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { font-size: 10pt; font-family:Verdana } </style>When he clicks on the new .exe it will show up in task manager for about 2 seconds then go away. No menu, no nothing. <style> .hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { font-size: 10pt; font-family:Verdana } </style>He's tried to run as admin and tried the other things have been suggested in this thread as well, all to no avail. When he returns to version 9.2.2 he can once again access the game.

Is there any info he can send you that would help troubleshoot this problem? Also, he's tried to post here himself under the username "<style> .hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { font-size: 10pt; font-family:Verdana } </style>Stan 'da Man" but apparently hasn't been approved for posting priviledges... is there any way to amend that issue? It'd be nice if he could tell you himself what's happening.

I used to have this problem. As I recall, it was a LicCtrl issue. Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Make sure that "LicCtrl Service" is not disabled and its startup is automatic.

Seems like a good suggestion. I passed it onto my owner. He says:<style> .hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { font-size: 10pt; font-family:Verda</style>

My LicCtrl Service shows that it's status is "started" and that it is automatic. I tried restarting it, but it didn't do anything differently.
It seems that's not what's causing the problem. Too bad; I was very hopeful that would be it. Regardless, thanks for the reply!

So with the problem still outstanding, any other thoughts on what's causing it? Is there some info my owner can submit that would be helpful in troubleshooting the issue?

Ah...actually I had not seen your post when I was responding. The fact that he could run the game when returning to version 9.2.2 probably indicated his License Control Service was working properly.

Still, I'll hold out hope that my suggestion helps the OP! I had this same problem on two computers - running the .exe file had the application jump up in task manager for a second or two, then disappear - and both times the issue was that the License Control Service was disabled. Sorry I can't offer your owner any help.

Please locate the ootp9.exe file. It should be in C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9

In the same folder there must be
- a file ootp9.exe.manifest
- a folder Microsoft.VC90.CRT with 3 dll files and a manifest file in it

If anything's missing please try a full install of the latest version.
Otherwise try right click the ootp9.exe and "Run as admin".

This worked for me. I had tried to update to 9.2.7 and in the process skipped all other patches. As soon as I added the files listed above the game successfully launched.

I'm having this same problem. I've done everything in this thread, but still getting the same crash upon start up. I've turned every single program off so nothing is running in the background. I've reinstalled the game with the latest version 3 or 4 times.

The game worked fine until about 4 days ago, but now I can't get in. Any help would be nice.

Which operating system / version do you use?

Vista. I've deleted the game reinstalled from scratch, tried running in admin mode, and everything else suggested here. Very frustrating

Please try the exe file which runs without the Windows "manifest" files.

- locate your ootp9.exe, it should be in the OOTP 9 program folder C:\program files\Out Of The Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\

- rename the file to ootp9.exe.save

- locate the file ootp9.exe.manifest which should be in the same folder

- rename the file to ootp9.exe.manifest.save

- download this file: http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/ootp9_pre_XP.zip

- open the zip file and copy the ootp9.exe file into the OOTP 9 program folder

One of the guys in my league fixed it. He said it was something about the facegen within the game. He made some changes, which I don't know exactly what he did but it worked. Then the game got stuck on loading names, but that was resolved when I downloaded the latest league file. I've had no problems since. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
