The stronger the team becomes (like the hated Red Sox), more fans there will be, and the more fans there are, chances are, more fans with wrong attitude. I see more and more Red Sox fans in recent years who I really do not want to have anything to do with in my life. They'd keep screaming "Yankees suck!" from the start of the game 'til the end of the game, and they do not even know the game. If you watch the Red Sox games, you know what I mean. The way they boo to the players, the way they sing that stupid song late in the game, the way they look bored late in the game... It is just like a great restaurant. You go to this new Sushi restaurant. You love Sushi, and you know a lot about it. The place is cozy, people there are nice, food is wonderful, and you have great time there. One day, you see a nice article about the restaurant in the paper, (or on TV) and the place will be packed with the people who read the article the next time. It is a great business for the restaurant. They might hire some extra people for the kitchen as they expect tons of customers in the weekends. The quality of the food might go down, people there would not be as nice as the last time you went there, and you would not even be able to go in. You might hear people say something stupid like "Oh, I love wasabi! Please just put a lot of wasabi on the rice" or "I cannot eat fishes. Could you make sushi with white meat?" "Could I have french fries?"" You may eventually feel you do not want to go to the restaurant again. It is not the restaurant's fault, it is the people (and media?) that makes you not want to go there. When people say "I hate the Yankees (Red Sox)", most of the time, it means, "I hate many of the Yankees (Red Sox) fans who blindly support the team just because they are strong and it is cool to support the strong team. They come up with all the excuses, but they do not even know the game!"

I didn't even know I sweared. I said a UK swear word??? My first infraction almost 10 years caused by something Yankee related...that's fitting I guess.
Is "bleep" really bypassing the filter? I figured that rule was meant for changing out letters with similar looking characters or adding periods. Bleeping is like saying "gosh" or "darn"...isn't it? And finally...to be put on ignore for talking about baseball and expressing passion behind various rivalries. Wow! Anyone can talk bad about my favorite team all they want, for further reference. It makes the games more fun, it makes being a fan more interesting. I'll still be a fan no matter how much people taunt Milton Bradley or our AA catchers or whatever. And I'll enjoy the joshing. Its cool to know that people actually know who's on the Mariners. So anyways, apologies to anyone who was offended by my language or my views on the Yankees. I figured it would be a fun thread to liven the discussion around here, and it did start out that way. |

If the board filtered it, I'd have known it was a swear word and edited it out. Thanks for the suggestion and the infraction!

I've thought about this more and I'm quite upset to have this infraction next to my name because I ranted against the Yankees. Is there a way to appeal this? |

Wow, tough break for Goody in this thread. Not sure what the logic is behind the moderation sometimes.

I don't know, I see nothing wrong with what he did. Baseball has two many "unwritten rules" that don't mean much.
For what its worth, we've definitely disagreed before, and I've chosen to ignore some of your comments before rather than respond, but I didn't see anything wrong with your comments, other than indirectly rooting against your team. We'll never agree, but your entitled to your opinion, and I respect that. I don't think you crossed the line, but that's just my .

I am not a Yankees fan, but I enjoy baseball more when they are relevant. And I don't mind that they spend their money. I would also love to see the league move another team to the area. It might take ten or more years to get traction, but I think it would be good for the sport. |

1998 Yankees is MD? Interesting.
and yes I'm confused as to how someone gets a warning for a word that is filtered?

It does however have legal standing as a non-obscene word so is no worse than "dang!" really...

Odd thing is, I don't mind the Yankees. Their fans have never annoyed me. Red Sox fans, on the other hand, are *extremely* annoying in general from my personal experience. It's made even worse when I hear "the Sox" and unless I know the context already, I have to ask and they go "the Red Sox of course! What other Sox are there?" which leads me to suggest that they go fornicate with themselves.
So yeah, Red Sox are on my hated teams list along with the Cubs (for obvious reasons) and the Twins (because I hate all Minnesota teams and they're our toughest division rivals).

Half of their top-twelve paid players are homegrown. The top three on that list are playing in their 16th season together, which has never been done before in any professional sport. Is it stupidity that they have paid good money to keep them (or in one case, get him back), or stupidity that they spend a significant amount of the revenues they earn on free agents?

As for Minnesota fans. I don't really hate them. I kind of pity them. They let themselves believe every year that they are better than they are. We could point out all their flaws and they will just ignore them and call us haters. Then they lose and they wonder how it went wrong. I just sniker watching it unfold.

With the Red Sox playing so badly I personally can't wait for the Bill Simmons article about how Red Sox not being good is bad for baseball.

Minnesota fans are actually pretty realstic in their expectations. We dont expect to beat the Yankees but we expect to make the playoffs because we play in a horrid division. The White Sox are like moldy bread that never gets thrown out. Some of these same players have been with them what seems like forever and they never get any better. Tigers are following the same pattern. Indians are rebuilding once again and the Royals are the Royals. The Vikings bandwagon is up for debate however. Im curious as to what all of these flaws are that you bring up and snicker about? The Vikings and Twins both lived up to preseason predictions that past few years. Also Jestor was speaking of teams he hates and other then Red Sox fans it didnt appear he was bashing Cubs or Twins fans. Last edited by jbergey22; 04-28-2010 at 10:10 PM. |

Speaking of hated teams, an interesting article talking about the most hated teams - New York Yankees: Not the Most Hated Team in Baseball - WSJ.com
Interesting to see the Indians as the most hated team...I'm not sure I buy that. |
