How about a button that allows the catcher to go out and calm down the pitcher? That could also stall for the RP as well as add in a strategy that is used in real life.

I've never liked the fact that I can warm up a guy in the 4th for example. Just in case my starter gets in trouble..

When more than likely I'll be going to the pen in the 6th or 7th. I should have to sit him after a batter or two if don't plan to use him for a couple more innings. It should contribute to some fatigue if I leave him in the pen for two innings?

I second that. I play in GM mode, but even so, I miss that part of the game. The AI should visit the mound and have to get relievers up in the pen.

When I opt to visit the mound, I would like there to be more variation in the response from the pitcher and to be given specific options to take.

Pitcher says "I am tired but let me finish the inning"
Option 1 leave him in
Option 2 pull him for player being warmed up

Pitcher says "I am tired, it's your call"
Option 1 pull him
Option 2 tell him that this is his last batter so he doesn't have to leave anything in the tank

I play out my games and would love to see this area of the game expanded.
I'm completely opposed to this idea. You "visting the mound" people don't care at all about us "improve the finances" people.

I mean are we really going to take away programming time to implement this idea!!!?? Ever heard of opportunity cost????

Besides having an effect on times you warming up a reliever, DOES this Visit the mound have any effect at all ????

It should have and that´s why agree that the conversation should be better than today.
One thing for sure is to calm the pitcher down, not just find out how he is feeling.
The quality of the pitching coach should be in effect to issue instructions. Having an option to send out a catcher to do some talking should also be an option.
Then the catchers experience and quality of leadership would be the key. It gives the importance of the relationship between the catcher and the pitcher a boost.

Hopefully the AI should use whatever Visit the Mound future better and more often. If it actually use it all today ;-)

I have noticed that it takes roughly 3 batters to go from cold to warming up to ready. Once in a while it will take 4 or 5 batters. I second the notion of a dialog between MGR and pitcher as well as catcher.
I have noticed that when a pitcher like Verlander who has stamina of 19 gets tired in the 5th inning. He is the kind of pitcher that gets stronger as the game goes.
Has anybody noticed the pitchers commonly (not all the time) begins to have trouble once he gets into the pitch count of 60 ??? I always begin warming my relievers at the 60 pitch count. Doesnt matter if stamina of a pitcher is 20 its the same with all the pitchers at least for me. If anybody knows another trick let me know.

If you get either of these messages, I would pull him if there is anyone on base; if bases are empty, let him finish out.

I usually visit the mound to break up the pattern. Most times it works and something different happens (not always good; for example my pitcher has walked back to back batters - I go out, and he gives up a 3 run homer), but if my pitcher is tired, unless he's working on a shutout, he's coming out.

Can't say I've seen that in my league. I never start to worry until 90 pitches unless they guy is very low rated (10 or under on the 1-20 scale) for stamina. For thoes guys I will start watching at ~80 pitches. For guys that are 17+ I don't worry until they hit the 100 pitch mark as long as they started the game at 100%.

Could be something in your league settings.

Yea - I just love it when my pitcher has has walked the bases full, given up a grand slam and then a ringing double. I go out to visit the mound and he says "I'm perfectly fine, let me pitch"... uhhh yea buddy, I can see that..

I use it to break up momentum and it does seem to do that most of the time, and it definitely helps warmup the bullpen faster. I would love to see some variety of responses though.

I want a mound visit exchange in OOTP like this one from the 1977 World Series:

WARNING: NSFW (Not Safe for Work)! DO NOT CLICK unless you are NOT offended by profanity on the baseball diamond.
