MLB changed the rules in 2007 (2008?) so that players can be placed on the DL during a playoff series. The playoff DL lasts for the remainder of the current series, plus the entirety of the next series.

I don't think OOTP replicates this, but even if it does, I believe with the way OOTP works, that he has to have another Playoff Roster Eligible player to be the replacement. If he's got no players who can be on the Playoff Roster, he can't do anything, even if he frees up that roster slot.

I have a player on my DL while in playoffs. But I know you can replace that player and still keep a full roster. All you have to do is draft up a bunch of rookies for the day prior to Sept 1st. Should your team make the playoffs then the players you had brought up on August 30th would be available for playoff roster since they would be eligible to be on playoff roster. OOTP plays it perfectly.
