I have no idea what I did differently. I know that most of the newer expansion teams from the 70's and on haven't really retired any numbers yet (Blue Jays have one) but the majority of the long running teams have.

If anyone wants test it out, here's what I did:

- Started historical mode in 1901
- Deleted all real players from their teams and then from free agency
- This wiped out MLB history. I also made sure to uncheck the real historical rookies box
- Generated fictional players for each team
- Simmed from 1901 through 2015
And he only played 5 years for the Jays a they retired his number because he and the team had good years and he is a HOF member

I meant in my OOTP universe, the Jays have one retired number.

LOL, j/k. I knew you could manually go in also and retire numbers for other teams, but it would be cool if the AI would do it every once of a while. I mean the screenshot that was posted, that's a crap load of retired numbers and seems a bit much...Like I said, my league is 80+ years strong and I, myself, have only 3 retired numbers, so I wouldn't want it to be excessive, just a little something to go back and look at
I don't mind having some retired numbers my team has 12 but I'm sentimental. I have only had 3 AI numbers retired one was my leagues most winning pitcher the other 2 are long time players for each team one isn't even HOF material, I don't mind the best players for a team having retired numbers but things like players numbers always going up or if they move teams there number chages so when they retire it will be with the number they were assigned there last year not the one they played with for most of there career. I know this is catchable by me the player but for those players who have great careers and I'm not looking at how do I know what number they were with out having HTML reports made to check. If certain improvements can be made they would be greatly appreciated.

Now my league was along way in to its history before retired numbers came around so I have to Manuly do a lot of them

Isn't a "retiring number" one that doesn't call attention to itself?

It would be nice if the game kept track of a player's uniform numbers throughout his career. As things stand now, the AI will retire the last uniform number worn by the player, even if he never wore that number with the team that retires his number. Fortunately I've been able to fix some of these inaccurate numbers by going into old saves and checking the numbers a player has worn previously. I also now record the uniform numbers of noteworthy players by creating notes in their profiles if I think they might eventually be worthy of the hall of fame. As always, it would be nice if the game could save me from having to do these things.

Any further word on this? [I figured it was worth a bump.]
