A good idea for OOTP 16 is setting up a lot of different awesome scenarios like the ones mentioned here. Full quickstarts with logos/uniforms/etc. Very very cool.

I'd love to give this a try, just to reiterate I am a rookie when it comes to messing with settings year by year. Below are a few other random things that may or may not be useful for you:

I'd like to start off with two conferences 4 teams in each for a total of 8. Schedule wise I'd like to do spring training and have the schedule for opening day start around the same time frame as the MLB. Basically its going to mimic a majority of MLB structure but with slight modifications. As far as stats go I'd like it to be comparable to the MLB too. Whats going to differ is say I may have DH across the board or no DH across the board, amount of regular season games and playoffs. I am flexible here as well and things may change as the league grows and expends (and MLB shrinks).

Other note, if i was to do the option of MLB and Fictional league both surviving I wouldnt mind maybe a "merger" of sorts for the playoffs with some kind of joint playoff system, not sure if thats a whole new animal to skin or not though.
Well, you're kind of on the fence here with how you want to run it.

MLB eventually merges entirely with fictional.

MLB remains along side MLB as separate entity

MLB and Fictional remain as separate entities but have an annual "Championship" between the two leagues.

None of those would be difficult.

So I'll try and get you started here and then as you yourself start building this in OOTP you can post questions here.

_________________________

1. Start with the MLB Quickstart, get that all set up and running (which it basically should out of the box)

2. In league setup click on the "Global Settings" Tab

3. From the drop down "Available Global Actions" (top right) select "Add new league to this game"

4. From the screen that opens select "Fictional League"

5. From the next screen choose the layout you would like - number of subleagues, divisions, teams and League Name

6. From the next screen continue to choose the options you would like for this league - Nation, League Name, team names (you can always change these later if you want to just leave the default for now) and how many levels of minors you would like. You can also choose the league level here - like MLB, AAA, Independent, etc. Since you're more or less mirroring MLB select that level.

7. Click next step when done and on that page choose your Settings for which year you wish to start. For you go with 2015 since that's your start overall. You can also select schedule length here and start date

8. Next step - basic settings you can set up as desired - they are self explanatory

9. Next Step - click "Add League"

10. Your fictional league has now been added.

Ok, once you get to that point, you need to go into league setup for the fictional league. Make sure the "Fictional League is selected" (Top right you'll see a drop down where you can select the desired league)

Then go to the "League Settings" Tab. Look along the left side, near the top you'll see a dropdown for "League Reputation".

This is what you want to set lower for your fictional. I have never tried this before, but start at maybe 7.

Now for both your ML league and fictional, go through all the league settings tabs and make your choices on how you want things - financials, compensation, etc etc etc.

Make sure on the financials page that "Allow free agents from other leagues and "Allow free agents to leave league" are checked as "enabled" in both leagues. This will allow the flow of players between leagues.

That's where you're going to have to experiment with the league reputation setting and financials. Like I say, with the setting at 7, it might be too low, I don't really know. So run 5 - 10 test seasons to see what kind of movement you get. You'll probably have to play with this and test a few times.

Also, if you're getting no movement or too much, change the 7 up or down accordingly.

Remember too, things like how many international FA's, amateur's etc coming into your leagues will affect player demand too. So you're going to have to watch and adjust those things too.

I'm going to leave you with this for now. If you have any questions, post them here. Once you've gotten to this point, let me know and we can move forward.

You'll also have to decide if you want to keep both leagues and have that Annual Championship series or not. If you do, then we'll need to create an Association between the leagues.

Cheers

I had deleted all my save games because I had to format my of recently. So unfortunately I cant remember the number of players I ended up with. When I do it this year I will upload a QS.
