MIdseason
Well what a season we have had thus far. To say we have somewhat cooled of in the run up to the midpoint of the season and still have a win percentage of over .700, is a testament to the ball we played in April. Two standouts have been Cueto and Canha. Cueto began the season 7-0 with a sub 1.50 ERA. He has been victim of the cool off, but still made the midsummer classic. And for Canha, he has been nothing short of spectacular. He has been putting MVP numbers al season long, even though he has made a trip to the DL. Lets hope the next half can be as successful.
Kyle Dean is our first pick, 21st overall, in the first year player draft 2016

Great stuff, always enjoy seeing a Moneyball dynasty. Great job getting rid of Lawrie. As a Royals fan, I can't stand that SOB, for obvious reasons. |

End of the regular season...we are going to the playofffs!
Cooled off towards the end, but still a fantastic season, going from sub .500 to a over 100 win season is quite remarkable, if I say so myself.
Well what a season from Canha. He was stunning for us this year, with 41 home runs and 138 RBI. The pitching was also fantastic throughout, with Gray taking the ERA crown, ad Cueto collecting the most wins. All in all, the best single season I have ever had in OOTP. So its the BoSox we have In the Divisional, a team we should be able to dispatch relatively easily.

The Red Sox
The Red Sox are a good team finishing with 87 wins and getting through the wildcard. Their top hitter and pitcher are below.
Xander Bogaerts is by far their best hitter, and with a solid season, he could be an nuisance to us in the series. Im not too worried about being shutout I this one as their starters are not very good. Their ace is Henry Owens, but thankfully for us, he is on the DL, so Rodriguez Is leading the line.

Game 1
10/10/16 - American League Divisional Series - Game 1
Boston Red Sox (87-75) at Oakland Athletics (103-59) f/Red Sox 4, Athletics 5 Match Report OAKLAND, CA - A dominating performance from Sonny Gray saw the A's take a game to none lead over the Boston Red Sox. Gray gave them 7 2/3 of two unearned run ball, allowing only 5 hits and 3 walks. With only 1 k on the day, Bob Melvin had this to say, "Normally he punches out a couple more guys today, and on another day he probably would have. Anyone watching that game could see he was getting a lot of weak contact, especially pop ups, although the box score might not reflect it, he was filthy today." The offense was also good today, with both Mark Canha and Steven Moya swatting home runs, with the latter's travelling 420 feet to dead centre. Sean Doolittle, who converted 43 of 50 save chances in the regular season, allowed a two run home run in the ninth, but knuckled down to earn the save. Game 2 is tomorrow, and sees Cueto duel against Jordan Lyles. Box Score A's Sonny Gray (WP) - 7.2 IP, 5H, 3BB, K. (2 unearned runs) Steven Moya - 1-4, HR, RBI Mark Canha - 1-4, HR, 3RBI's Matt Tuiasosopo - 1-1 (PH), RBI. Sean Doolittle - 1IP, H, K, 2ER Red Sox Scott Kazmir - 5.2 IP, 6H's, 2BB, 4K's, 4ER's. Pablo Sandoval - 2-4, HR, 2RBI's Jackie Bradley JR - 2-2, BB

Lyles was solid through 6, allowing only one earned run on a Max Muncy RBI single. Porcello came in and locked the door, a final 3 innings of 2 hit ball sending the A's to defeat. Moncada, Ortiz and Swihart all recorded multiple hit games, as the Sox pounded out 11 hits on a clear day in Oakland. Game 3 sees Parker take on Rodriguez. Game 3
10/13/16 - American League Divisional Series - Game 3
Boston Red Sox (87-75) vs Oakland Athletics (103-59) f/Red Sox 2, Athletics 8 Match Report OAKLAND, CA - Errors came back to bite the boys from Fenway as they lost 8-2. Two errors at key moments allowed the Athletics to score 4 unearned runs on starter Rodriguez, and take game 3, and the lost home game back. Jarrod Parker was solid through six allowing only two runs. He had ample of run support spearheaded by the big 3 hit performances from Steven Moya and Matt Tuiasosopo. A game after conceding eight runs, they score eight of their own, and manager Bob Melvin was ecstatic, "I'm delighted for the boys, they worked too hard to get to this point, they deserve everything they have coming to them. Its a testament to GM Radke, the changes he has made behind the scene has made our team more than a playoff team, but a true contender." Rousing words from manager Melvin...pivotal game 4 coming up... Box Score A's Jarrod Parker (WP) - 6 IP, 6H, 2BB, 5K's, 2ER's. Steven Moya - 3-5, 2 2B, RBI, 2R's Edwin Encarnacion - 1-3, HR, 2RBI's, 2R's Matt Tuiasosopo - 3-4, RBI, 2R's Trevor Rosenthal - 2.1 IP, H, 2BB, 4K's Red Sox Eduardo Rodriguez - 5.2 IP, 9H's, 1BB, 3K's, 5R's (1 ER). Hanley Ramirez - 2-4, HR, 2RBI's. Mookie Betts - 3-5.

Game 4
10/14/16 - American League Divisional Series - Game 4
Boston Red Sox (87-75) vs Oakland Athletics (103-59) f/11Red Sox 6, Athletics 4 Match Report OAKLAND, CA - A walk off two run home run from Rusney Castillo forces a game 5 in this enthralling ALDS. As the Tigers finished up the sweep of the Rays, all eyes turned to Fenway as a two run top of the ninth for the Athletics sent this game to extras. Sonny Gray was far from his ace-self, labouring through 6 and a third giving up four runs, whilst ex-A Kazmir, struggled to even make it to the fifth. However, in the ninth, veteran closer Uehara was in to nail down the save and take it to a game 5 in regulation, however a rally ensued with RBI singles from Encarnacion and Wendle ensured the A's weren't going down that easily. After Sean Doolittle gave the visitors two innings of scoreless relief the ball was handed to Kelvin Herrera. He allowed the first runner to reach, and after Ramirez bunted him over, Castillo sent the first pitch he saw 401 foot over the monster to send the home crowd into raptures... game 5 next... Box Score A's Sonny Gray (ND) - 6.1 IP, 7H's, BB, 4K's, 4ER's. Steven Moya - 3-5, 2 2B, R. Nick Castellanos - 1-5, 2RBI's. Matt Tuiasosopo - 2-4, BB, R. Red Sox Scott Kazmir (ND) - 4.2 IP, 5H's, 3BB, 4K's, 2ER's. Rusney Castillo - 1-5, HR, 2RBI's. Jackie Bradley JR - 1-2, HR, 2RBI, BB. Pablo Sandoval - 2-4, R.

Game 5
10/16/16 - American League Divisional Series - Game 5
Boston Red Sox (87-75) at Oakland Athletics (103-59) f/10Red Sox 5, Athletics 7 Match Report OAKLAND, CA - Wow. A fitting end to what has been a fabulous Divisional Series. Mark Canha, who has done next to nothing in games 2,3 and 4, and was having an 0-fer until the bottom of the tenth. With Cueto and Lyles going at each other for the second time this series, more of the same was in order. Both offenses exploded in the 1st each tagging the starters for two runs each. By the bottom of the eighth the A's were down 5 to 4. Pinch hitter Matt Tuiasosopo worked a four pitch walk, and was immediately pinch hit for Daniel Fields. He promptly stole second, two batters later Moya was up with one on and one out. He took the 1-0 breaking ball deep to left and banged it off the top of the wall Fields scored easily on the double and we were tied in the 7th. On to the tenth where Farrell allowed Uehara to stay out for another inning, even though he'd blown a save in his last appearance. The leadoff man Joey Wendle smacked a double into the gap, with the heart of the order up. All-Star catcher Buster Posey stepped in and hit a deep flyball to left and was robbed on a stunning diving catch by Hanley Ramirez, to the shock of the home supporters. Up stepped Mark Canha, the man who carried this team offensively in the regular season. The man who drove in 138 in the regular season, and I bet he'd trade all of them for one now. The first pitch was a ball, high. Second pitch, exactly the same location high and away but nibbling at that outside corner. Surely not three times in a row. The tiring Uehara kicked and dealed, there it was, there it goes... Mark Canha destroyed the fastball from Uehara, 422 feet no doubter, and the Coliseum erupted. It was nothing less than he deserved. We will see you in a couple of days...Oakland vs Detroit...2016 ALCS Box Score A's Johnny Cueto (ND) - 4 IP, 11H's, 2BB, 5ER's. Steven Moya - 2-4, 2 2B, RBI. Mark Canha - 1-5, HR, 3RBI's. Michael Saunders - 2-2, BB, RBI. Buck Farmer - 4 IP, H, 6K's. Red Sox Jordan Lyles (ND) - 3.1 IP, 5H's, BB, K, 4ER's. Hanley Ramirez - 2-3, HR, 2RBI's, 2BB's. Xander Bogaerts - 4-5, 2RBI, 2R's. Yoan Moncada - 3-5, 2R's. Koji Uehara(LP) - 1.1 IP, 2H's, 2ER's BB.

I liked it when you posted the boxscore after each game. Any chance we can go back to that format? Great dynasty anyway.
