The Story of Mike Rego
Mike Rego was drafted in the 6th Round by Kendall West out of the University of Miami, FL. His fastball is electric, and twice fanned 16 in a game in the minors, and once fanned 15 in a game. But, he was also bit by the injury bug quite often. In December of 1925, Rego was selected by the St. Augustine Guardians in the Rule 5 draft. He started 7 games for the Guardians with a record of 1-3 and an ERA of 4.84. On 7/7/26, Rego was released by St. Augustine and returned to Kendall West. 8 days later on 7/15/25 Rego took the mound against Oakland Park to throw the 3rd no-hitter in league history! Just 8 days from being released. |
