i bet it smells wonderful.

that owner is a nub, clearly. profit is what he cares about and very little about winning... rather just a guise of trying with minimal resources alotted.

every single mlb team can afford ~150M payroll or more.. they are absolutely lying, otherwise.

in some cases this might require good attendance and would need to ramp up with continued success. they might make a bit less (doubt it) per year if they did it and that is the real obstacle for a significant poritons of ownership.

accounting is the psuedo-science of hiding income.

e.g. you buy an asset, you expense the cost of that asset which reduces your tax obligation that year... then over it's life you depreciate it and save on those tax dollars a second time. if you can't see the obvious abuse you can do with this generally accepted accounting principle (gaap), you aren't trying too hard.

the inmates were allowed to write or aid in the writing of the rules that govern them... should work out fine, right? good god-fearing people and all.... <sigh>

the point is they have the money to not play in a sespool nor extort money from local municipalities to construct them a new stadium. baseball is a fun game sorrounded by excrement.

The Expos played their last 26 games in 1991 on the road after a beam fell at Olympic Stadium.

remember, there was a rain delay @ Marlins Park a few years ago.
The roof was open and someone forgot to check the radar and see a rain cell coming.
it poured inside the stadium and it takes the retractable roof 15-20 minutes to open/close.
so they had to tarp the field until the roof closed.
a rain delay inside a retractable roof stadium.
just another embarrassment from YOUR MIA Marlins!

Are you going to provide evidence for this assertion?

Players' salaries are the main item of depreciation in club financial statements. It is not a huge percentage of the expenses. One can easily remove such lines from the financial statements to see how the revenues vs. expenses look without it.

Today's real-world Blue Jays game at SkyDome was postponed. Although MLB classified it as a venue problem, effectively it was because of the weather: ice fell from the CN Tower onto SkyDome's roof, damaging it, and forcing the game to be postponed. (There's been freezing rain in the city for the last few days.)

For someone who nitpicks things, the game was actually cancelled and rescheduled as part of a single admission double-header tomorrow, not postponed.

Even MLB itself can get its terminology straight!

Ever met a Jeopardy champion? Man, they get annoying. They just walk around asking everyone questions that do not really feel like questions. It gets awkward fast.
