Did this about a week and a half ago. I'm not a huge fan of the PT economy sans FOTF recent release, but there's a lot of fun to be had here.

I pocked this up in the Steam summer sale, and threw $10 worth of PP at it to get up and running on my first team. I still consider it money well spent and overall positive, and my review reflected as much.

My next goal is to try a team in PT with just historical players, not live to see how far I get.

I may wait and see for the current market to settle a bit however.

Reviewed the game today, wrote a review in German. If it's better in English please let me know.

I wouldn't mind renewing if I could get it to work.

I purchased the steam version (at least it looked that way on the page that i used to make the purchase, it said Steam Key.

I already had OOTP 21 for windows, but I purchased a product called Xtra-PC which is basically Linux on a thumb drive and I wanted to purchase the Linux version of OOTP21... so I did, from Steam since that was the one that mentioned that it worked with Linux.

I was able to download, extract and install OOTP21 in Linux.

However, the License Key I was sent doesn't work.

I also received these instructions:

The serial number above is your Steam key. To activate the Steam key, simply follow either one of these procedures:
  • Launch the Steam client software and log into your Steam account.
  • Click the "+ Add a Game" button at the lower-left corner of your Steam client, then choose "Activate a Product on Steam..."
  • Click Next.
  • Read and agree to the Steam subscriber agreement.
  • Enter your Steam key in the "Product Code" box.
  • Steam will then either install the game, or provide instructions if there are any additional steps you need to take to complete the download and installation.
or
  • Launch the Steam client software and log into your Steam account.
  • Click the Games menu at the top of the screen, then choose "Activate a Product on Steam..."
  • Enter your Steam key in the "Product Code" box.
  • Steam will then either install the game, or provide instructions if there are any additional steps you need to take to complete the download and installation.

By Steam client software, I'm assuming they mean OOTP21.

So I launched OOTP21, but there is no Games menu, and there's no button to "add a game" button in the lower left corner... there's just a button to Enter my license key, which I did. It told me it could not activate the license.

I created and logged into my Steam account in a browser, but how does that do anything? It doesn't show that I made the purchase.

But according to the email containing the Key, I purchased the game from FastSpring.

So who do I contact to activate this game? The key I was sent doesn't work.

The License key i was sent has 15 characters, 5 characters followed by a dash and five characters and another dash and five characters.

(I tried to submit a ticket in the customer service portal, but when I clicked on the link to submit the ticket, I got a "Sorry, the page you have requested was not found" message).

Sorry you're having trouble!

The quoted part of your message is likely the issue. When it says 'Steam client software, this is not referring to OOTP21. This is referring to the Steam program you need to download and install on your system, then log into.

You can download the program by hitting the green 'install steam' button on the steam homepage here: https://store.steampowered.com/

Then once that's installed and you've logged into your account on the Steam app on your computer, then follow the instructions above to redeem the Steam key we sent you, and you should be good.

Just a quick question, but if I bought OOTP not on steam, is there a way to move my purchased game to steam?

Quick question. First time purchasing OOTP through steam. Is the file structure (jerseys, logos, Facegens) the same as when you purchase the game through your company. It might be because I began a Quickstart game but I noticed none of the OOTP doc folders I'm accustomed to seeing are there.

It is the same on both versions.
