OOTP works, but it's sometimes quite easy to accidentally mess something up.

At least Star Citizen has been having different events where you can get in touch with something tangible even if the game is not released.


Now Chronicles of Elyria, that was some highway robbery right there...selling plots of virtual land for hundreds of dollars a pop before the world was even built, then having the studio shut the doors...now that is impressive.

Sierra Sports released Front Page Sports Football in an unplayable state (literally... it just wouldn't load). They did this to beat the Holiday Rush, promised to patch it... and never did.

Eventually recalled it January 21st (pulled it from shelves... not refunding customers). The game sat on shelves for 2 months in a completely unplayable state and they thought that was ok.

Turbine Studios released an expansion for one of their MMOs, proceeded to cancel the game entirely a few months later after everyone had paid, then proceeded to go after people with legal action who were trying to get their own private servers going for a game they had just paid for and could not play.

Those two probably my gold standard for what I count as a 10 on the 1-10 crappy company scale
