Kershaw for the Dodgers in game one. They haven't announced a game two starter yet. Won't be Bueller, as he would be pitching on just 3 days rest, and they won't do that with him, especially with the blister issue. So I'm sure he'll start game three on 5 days rest instead .

All three of the Dodgers' other starters pitched in last night's game seven. Gonsolin threw the most pitches (41), followed by Urias (39), and then May with only 19. The low pitch count might suggest May as the opener in a bullpen game, but even though he only threw 19 pitches, I'm not sure the Dodgers would want to use a young pitcher who has mostly been on a starters schedule to go 55 pitches (game 5), off day (game 6), 19 pitches (game 7), two off days (today and for game 1 of WS), and then start.

So my guess is that they will either start Gonsolin and try to get just one or two innings out of him, or go with a true bullpen game (with my guess being Joe Kelly as the opener).

Urias was just too good in the Braves series to start on short rest in game two and thus only use for an inning. I'm thinking they'll either use him high-leverage relief situations in games 2 & 3, or save him to start game 4 (on 5 days rest)... Kershaw would be in line to pitch a game 5 on four days rest, and Bueller would get a game 7 on four days rest.

Looks like the Rays are set with Glasnow in game 1, Snell in game 2, and Morton in game 3. So far this postseason they haven't pitched a starter on three days rest (although Glasnow pitched game 5 vs the Yankees on 2 days rest, but only went 2.1 - effective - innings). So I suspect they'll go with 4th starter Yarbrough in game 4, which allows them to use their top three starters on regular rest for games 5 thru 7, if needed.

I am not terribly interested and to be honest I doubt I will watch a single game. But that being said...
I would like to see the Rays win. It it is always fun to see a franchise win their first championship.

Yea, I'd like to see them win before they leave town. However I'd much rather have the $40 million they were willing to pay to leave several years ago..

With the Lighting, Rays and potentially Buccaneers, Tampa Bay could turn into the center of the sports universe!
Now is the time to jump on the bandwagon.

And if I was a pro athlete you could not do much worse than Tampa Bay-St. Petersburg-Clearwater

Gorgeous area and no state income tax!

As a Dodger fan, I'm equally ready to be elated or crushed, again. Just happy to be in the show. It would be nice to win a world series outside of OOTP one of these years.

Alright! (claps hands) The old man here has done his pre-Game 1 sleep. Four hours of nice zzz should be enough to make it to the end of a 4:35, 2-1 opener.

Bring in the clowns!

And for hors d'oeuvres, I simmed Game 1 of what's left of my 2020 Mets game. A shock to nobody, Kershaw choked.

(Against a different AL East team though)

Wow, the way I feel right now, I'd say Baseball is all the way back. That's how I feel right now, just before the beginning of a World Series that I actually care about. This is fun! All the other stuff this year is dreck. Have fun, guys!

Also, it is soooo nice to see some fans in the stands. Not those hologram fans that Fox pulled on us back on July. Boy was that dumb. Have we seen them since or did Fox drop the idea? No matter; as long as we don't see them tonight to "pad" the sparse real person attendance.

This resonates. Including this slang phrase in a crossword puzzle is one of the two final straws why I have written off Matt Gaffney. No, no, no. In a crossword puzzle, we spell "right" with a "g" and "h."

The other last straw was the clue "U.S. of A." in the same puzzle for which the answer was "Murica." That one I had to look up and was amazed by not only its dumbness for a crossword puzzle but that the term is actually offensive. And no, I am not of the type to whom it would be offensive, but it is offensive.

No reflection on you, CB. And here I go again, getting in trouble with the forum moderator. Sorry, but I must share this stuff someplace and I don't do Twitter!

Back to the World Series! Please don't launch into a long discussion about crossword puzzles or the forum moderator will lower the boom again. Although competitive crossword puzzle solving could be considered a sport. Chess is a sport.

True. I guess for a crossword puzzle, it depends on ubiquity. For example, I don't bat an eyelash at "LOL" for "Finds virtually hilarious" (although LOL is not slang, but the same idea).

Maybe I'm an online homebody (am I the only person on the planet who does not do Facebook OR Twitter?) but yours is the first time that I have seen "Amirite?" but I am guessing that the phrase is much more popular than for which I gave it credit.

But don't even start on "Murica," popular or not. That's the one that broke the camel's back (no, I am not advocating animal abuse!). Gaffney, who I find crossing that vague line of being too cute with his puzzles, and I parted ways at that point.

Heh, here we go again. Kiss these posts goodbye! Let's get back to the Series!

Never mind that. There is something else I have to get off my chest. This is simply too much hair. Too. Much. Hair. It seems to me it was even bushier than this in the NLCS:

Dustin May lends new meaning to the phrase "I want him to play 100 miles an hour with his hair on fire".

I'm surprised that it doesn't interfere with his pitching delivery!
