Someone a few years ago did a travesty replay and through a series of multiple ctr-alt-deletes led the Mariners to a 162-0 record.

Some of these records people are posting are really cool. After awhile, does it get boring and do you guys look for other teams to rebuild?
Speaking just for me, I've totally lost interest in that save file. It was an expansion franchise I took over, and I kinda did all I wanted there, juggarnaut, #1 budget/#1 payroll in baseball, self perpetuating success (trade off veterans every 4-6 years for prospects, rinse, repeat). I never even play it anymore.

I agree. After a dynasty I self imposed payroll limits and killed the draft in favor of historical rookies.

These wouldn't qualify for most wins ever by a team but the number of teams with high win totals is unusual. I'm not seen this before. The only setting change I've made from past games is to reduce trading. Since I use free agency (game started 1951) I hoped to keep more players on their historical teams by restricting trading. Its possible this shows teams with good farm systems got the short end on trades. Insufficient data, of course.

I am surprised at Pittsburgh (my team). I have a self imposed payroll limit. Not strict but expected to be around half way rank. And the team lost 12 players in the pre 1961 draft and another 7 in the pre 1962 draft. I used the standard 15 protected per team and no limit on the number of selections from a single team.

Note the first one is AL 162 games and NL 154 games and that the NL season is over but OOTP doesn't calculate the magic number correctly.

And some more in 64

Clearly a competitive balance problem.

Went to change it and it turns out I just thought about cutting trading frequency. Its set to average.

I thought he did that with the Rangers? Maybe the Rangers one was more than a few years ago and the Mariners one is more recent. I remember following the one I’m thinking of in a dynasty report. Man he had some crazy stat lines. Of course, his cpu was probably a little worse for wear with all the forced stops!

My best right now is 120-34 in 154 games in my current Historical league (as the Bronx Bombers) 1908 (current season).

I just had 121 wins in a 154-game season. (prorated to 162 games that would be 127 wins)

Cleveland finished 40 games ahead of 2nd place Pittsburgh...

Worse than that was having a 113 win team lose the LCS to a 80 win team in 5 games. Pitchers with like 40/45/45 stuff/mov/con and season ERAs north of 5.5 kept throwing absolute gems and dominated my top ranked lineup. Guys with 35/35 con/pow were banging 3 run homers against Cy Young contenders. It was horrible.

I backed up that save (to save what "really" happened and to continue later from that backup) and loaded up a save when the series was starting. I wanted to see the teams face off with a bigger sample size and without me as manager.

Second try: Lose 4-1.
Third try: Lose 4-1.
Fourth try: Win in 7.
Fifth try: Lose in 7.

Record overall: 10W 19L

At that point it could still be RNG but I tend to think there was something else behind the curtain affecting my players. I mean, there was a whopping 33 game difference between these teams in the season...
Unfortunately, it is what it is. It doesn't matter the difference between team A and team B....team A could be 30 games better, but in a best-of-5 or best-of-7 format, there are plenty of ways for a lesser team to pull the upset. Doesn't take much to get unlucky and lose a few in a row...then there goes your season.

You could have a rookie ball level team play an MLB team 162 times, and they wouldn't go 162-0. Just mathematically possible, literally impossible.

Welp.....just tested that logic, and apparently I'm a liar. I was shocked to see 162-0 with MLB vs R, figured baseball naturally is hard to dominate that hard.

Think before you speak, kids!

In my Rays save which is about to wrap up the 2030 regular season, we just set the MLB record for best home record in a season at 68-13, beating out the 1932 Yankees who went 62-15. Interestingly, this was the first year I moved the team out of Tropicana Field and into Publix Park, one of eriqjaffe's excellent ballpark creations.

I have a pretty power-laden team and it's much more of a hitter's park than the Trop, so I'm chalking it up to that. The team is 116-40 overall, so at best we can tie our previous best of 122 wins in 2028.

Anyone else have a home record better than this?

As the Dodgers, I've gone 130-32 and 131-31. I started in 2020, but these were achieved after my last real-life player (Wander Franco) was traded away, in 2030 or later.

Sgt Mushroom (on youtube and reddit, I don't know if he posts here) is up to something like 135-0 in a season currently. I don't think he's lost yet.

Several years ago, playing as the 1975 Brewers, I had 105 wins. And did not make the playoffs.
