I am attempting to stay as true to modern day MiLB as possible.
AAA 28 players, no service limit
AA 28 players no service limit
A+ 30 players with no more than 6 years pro experience
A 30 players with no more than 5 years pro experience
Complex Rookie 35 players (even though this is actually unlimited IRL I find this necessary to control the size of farm systems) and no more than 4 years pro experience
INT Rookie 35 players with no more than 4 years pro experience
These settings appear to work pretty well (for me at least) and if you are using a modern day setup, these are probably the closest to reality you can get. Complex league do have unlimited roster, but organizations are not allowed more than 180 players, so limiting these leagues to 35 makes a lot of sense, and I don't really see any big time dumb AI decisions.
I do NOT use any age limits, and I have a reasonable mix of players at AAA and AA, and the rest of the leagues are all players in their mid to early 20's. Players at AA are mostly all in their 20's with the odd player who might be a 30 year old MiLB journyman...and AAA is a good mix of prospects and MLB reserves.
