Since OOTPXX, I've usually been playing as the Reds. I'm not so sure about this now in 23 because I'm angry at ownership.
I agree about the owners. Phil Castellini's early season comments were very bad. Now it's the new billy goat curse

The issue that irked me about the latest CBA, is that the union should have followed in the tracks of the NHL and had a minimum salary spend for all teams. That would force the bottom feeders of the league to actually spend some money, and at least put a semi-competitive team on the field for their fans to watch. Instead, the knuckleheads were only worried about the top half of the league teams being able to spend more before the luxury tax kicked in.
Agree. I'm a lifelong Oriole fan living in Buffalo. I think the cap floor should be 50% of the max. If your team can't afford to spend that much, move the team. If you combined teams like Baltimore,Cincy,Pirates, A's..they still wouldnt win 70 games.

da Mets here ! We get the Mets and Yanks games on cable here in Buffalo. My wife is a Mets fan. I am an Oriole fan. So you can see how easy it was to decide.

I have played generally with teams that havent won a World Series in a while (with the exception of the first save file I ever played where I played with my favorite team the Angels where I made a legit dynasty winning 4 Titles in a row). This year I went with Cleveland since I was unable to win a Championship with them on the Show last year but I will likely have to restart that file due to unfortunate circumstances.

Of all the fan bases of tanking/rebuilding teams, I feel most sorry for O's fans.

How long have they been at this? It seems like about 5 years now and all they have to show for it is one great C prospect, one great and one good SP prospects, and a starting CF who blossomed beyond expectations and whom they are now considering trading if off-season rumours are accurate.

They have a bunch of flawed young players with one or two obvious strengths hampered by the flaws in their games.

Overall, their prospect pool isn't nearly as deep as it should be for as long as Elias has been the GM there and started this overhaul.

They don't need a few prospects to 'pop' to contend in the AL East. They need a massive 'explosion'.

It's so sad for one of the iconic franchises.

Comparatively, the Marlins are coming out of their rebuild and competing in a tough division....the A's go in cycles but they will contend again....Cincy at least tried via FA to field a contender for a few years....and Pittsburgh's management is in the midst of a proper rebuild and hopefully, their cheap owner will loosen the purse strings when the time is right.

You mean two FCL rookie ball teams? I find it hard to believe that they have two at short-season A.

Going with the Mariners for my first save because I recently moved to Seattle, plus they are an interesting young team with a few different directions to go in. Im in 2nd in the wildcard race right now and Kelenic and Rodriguez are having great sophomore seasons while France and Winker are struggling. if I can get them all to hit at the same time in the playoffs we might be able to do something

I always start with a current save with my Pittsburgh Pirates. I was waiting for the current patch, but now might start a live save. Never did a live start before, because did not like that the minors was not updated, but might try one now.

Also, might try a historical save, using the development engine. Have always liked to do my historical saves in a pretty realistic way with real transactions, but might try one with the development system on, using real minors, and no color barrier. Of course will still take the Pirates as I usually do.

18-11 right now as I am GM of the 2022 Royals.

But....I did make a few trades.

I had created a promotion/relegated league starting with my O's in OOTP22 for differentiality and it has somehow worked. Also try to rebuild my O's in the regular save.... they might be unsavable....

As an Oriole fan thanks for the pity. Been a fan since early 70's.

I'm playing the Cubs in an Alternate Universe (2020) if Covid never happened.

I'm playing the Reds in the 2022 Season.

I'd like to play the Phillies in a Historical Season starting with 1981 if the strike had never happened.

I always wondered how the Expos would have finished that season? Perhaps a good playoff run and then the remain in Canada ?
