"Rob: What happens to the cards I use to attempt a boost?
OOTPD: Any cards used to attempt a boost of a Combinator Card will be removed from your collection. My advice is to be cautious with your boost, and boost when you believe you’ll have a good chance of success. Depending on personal preference, you can wait until you get to 100% to boost, but I’ve heard of people having successful boosts at a 56% chance of success, and failed boosts at an 80% chance of success.

Locked cards for collections/missions are eligible to be used to combinate a card as well, but these will also be removed from your collection once used. They do not impact missions that have already been completed, but if the card is used in a mission later, you would need to acquire it again to use in that future mission."

I just lost a handful of valuable cards not knowing the downside to this.

That's not right.

I lost 6 high diamond cards "boosting" the value of a bronze David Weathers card that sits in my card collection unused for anything. That's bull****! Gee, now I see the "removed" in red. This is a ****ing video game. People don't want to have to read lengthy agreements or game forums to know how something works ... at least not after they've just lost valuable commodities. Snake-oil bull****!

As you said, it's literally on the screen in red. It's not hidden. It's not only in an agreement or a forum. It's there when you do it. You made a mistake and I feel for you. I've done some dumb things in this game, too. It ain't snake oil, though. Just an oversight on your part.

I disagree, but appreciate your point.

If you're about to do something in a video game that's going to perhaps cause you to lose valuable assets that you spent your hard earned money on, then the warning has to be more apparent, and better explained.

When you click the boost button a popup will appear warning you about the consequences.

I realized that it's obviously quite easy to check if you have combinators in missions, simply by searching the card shop with the mission filter and checking the colour of the text.

However, it would be great to have a visual aid on the missions screen, and maybe be able to toggle between normal/combinator cards or have an option to ignore combinators.

I just pulled a 42 Rocky Coppinger combinator which is in the Tallest mission. I went into the missions, did a player search, and... a regular card search no longer tells you if you have the combinator version, so you need to search the mission in the combinator shop.

Just put it on the card shop so that it is out of your collection. If you think you might want it someday, put a high price on it.

I was only using that card as a reference because I'd literally just pulled it, and it demonstrated what I described. I've got a couple of actually useful low iron pitcher combinators that are on a bunch of my rosters. I couldn't list them because it would screw things up. Bit of a workaround, but not entirely a solution.

So if I have a card on my roster that's NOT a combinator card & I go to the Combinator Card Shop & see that exact same card there. Will buying the CCS card change my non CC into a Combinator Card of will I just have 2 cards, one not and the other is a CC.

Thanks

You will have two cards. Be aware though, if your regular card is on your active roster and you send him down to reserve to bring up the Combinator version of that player BOTH will be out 14 days.

Thanks, we'll that rules me out on buying CC, plus all this talk about maybe getting boost or not. Maybe next year when all this is better or scrubbed just like the PT+ membership it had last year. I'm not exactly sure where this company is headed anymore.

And they putting out these old cards of players that nobody even heard of, making them 100 cards with extraordinary powers. But when you go look at the actual stats of that player, his OOTP rating are just so skewed compared to their actual playing ability.

This will get its own thread, but I wanted to include it here too.

Hello, everyone! We have an exciting announcement today about tournaments and Perfect Drafts.

We are nearing the inclusion of Combinator Caps for tournaments. This is something the team has been working on and we’re close to being able to implement it. This is yet another strategy that allows for new roster building. It will also be used on a limited basis. We will be constructing a tournament refresh that will likely be released in the next three to four weeks, and that will incorporate Combinator Caps for some tournaments, perhaps one in each daily category and a few weeklies. Nothing has been finalized yet, as we’re still putting things together. I can’t stress enough that this will be used on a limited basis, and the number of Combinator Cards allowed can vary or be set to none. We do not have a way to rotate the number of Combinator Cards allowed.

Another exciting option for tournaments is the ability to have Chemistry turned off. This can be combined with the Combinator Cap, so there theoretically could be a No Combinator, No Chemistry format. However, this will also be used on a limited basis to get more roster diversity and creative roster builds. We’re working on having the Chemistry option available for Perfect Drafts, too.

It’s possible that these two options could be used in a PTCS and/or PTMS, but the upcoming PTCS 4 will not use them. Those formats and prizes will be announced Monday, July 1.

One more exciting option is that we’ve created smaller groups of stadium rotations to keep with certain themes. The groups include only current MLB stadiums (30), only current MiLB stadiums (30), only KBO (9), only historical (46), only New York (6), only Chicago (5), only California (12). We will likely have other groups created as we go.

We're always looking for new ways to add more variety and challenges to the tournament and draft environments.

Not great so far

It costs too many points to get a minor boost to a card.

Can't quick sell, and they sit taking up spots in the sell list no one seems to buy.

So far, not a fan.

No. As the original post in this thread states, you will lose any card you use to combinate a card with from your collection.

(And, for what it's worth, I directed you to this thread because the answer was in the original post )

Is it right to assume that every level of upgrade is about 2% of original rating?

Original rating X (1 + Upgrade Level X 2%) = Upgraded Value

100 X (1 + 5 X 2%) =110

And I assume these are display values and internal ratings have roundings anyway
