I didn't post to get advice, I don't need OOTP advice, I know how to play the game and use settings. I posted to tell the developers there is a problem. People with advice can keep it to themselves in this case (even if they are hall of fame posters on this forum lol).

And as far as realistic, I'd like to see the financial numbers in real life that show that owners take $97 million from their team after the season is over. I don't think that's realistic.

Are owners greedy, of course. They're super wealthy in the era of end-stage capitalism so of course they are. But I don't think the CBA with the players association would allow owners to take all that cash off the top and then slash payroll like that.

Setting cash limit to no limit instead of $16 million solves the problem. I changed it at the start of 2026 to no limit and just finished 2026. Lost in g7 of the WS to the Mariners in Seattle and my budget went up by about $5 million.

I may have also changed my owner to generous last offseason and it just took affect now. I started that season over a week ago and it's hard to remember, but he only took about $2 million this year after taking $57 million after last season.

I'm a bit concerned that this is a real long-term problem. Does anyone have any data showing this as something that is persistent over many years? Like if it was just a season here or there for a team or two, I wouldn't be that concerned, but if it kept happening every season to a lot of teams, I would be.

I don't keep data, I just play the game and I know there's something weird with the calculations in OOTP 25. That said, turning the cash limit off may be the thing to do. I'm actually slightly in the red on budget now, but I have all my cash so still have flexibility to make moves and it seems like the rest of the league does too. And I was able to get Rutschman and Freeman this offseason to upgrade from Kirk and Encarnacion- Strand so 2027 is the year! lol
