And it can be made even more cruel. I know that you love PT and I respect that. But you always act like everything is peachy and it is not. You can keep your blinders on, and I am fine with that. I love the game too. I am the balance here. I don't want to be, but the game's evolvement drives me. For every action there is a reaction stuff.

But as the title of the post says. PT is becoming unplayable for the rank-and-file player. More people are leaving than arriving. It's like the story of the little Dutch Boy but here it seems like nobody is pushing his finger into the hole in the dike. When the hole washes on through, there will be a flood...

I would not like seeing that in a game that I love to play.

Trust me… there are plenty of things I don’t like and am very vocal about… but doing it here over and over is basically just shouting down an empty hallway.

Anyway… in this particular case I was just saying that a 10 pack run like the other poster had is pretty standard and the odds will even out as he or she keeps ripping.

Therein lies the problem. There was a time there was discussion on these forums about the game. Viewpoints were discussed, opinions given, conclusions made. you came here and you knew the latest about everything. Now it only happens on Discord.

If this is no longer the place to offer opinions and concerns, then this place offers no value. If Discord is the new, shiny conference hall, then make it official and say so - and those of us that have been on the forums for 20 years will have a choice to make.

I think that happened about five years ago, man… The choice has been made

Ditto!
After all, these are the "Official Forums." But not just players, even the company does not push these forums. Their reps on the shows preach. "Discord! Discord! Discord!" on the "official" shows on Twitch. Then all the contributors do too. Nobody on your programs ever says, "Check the Forum." That tells old timers plenty.

I would say that one of the best ways to not be an “old timer” is to keep up with new mediums. Somewhere out there there’s probably someone patiently waiting for the official OOTP carrier pigeon to show up.

But yeah the cold swings can be maddening.
I can't take any complaints about pack luck seriously unless people are talking about 1000s of packs, lol.

I can't even imagine getting upset over a bad 50 or 100 pack. That's how packs work. I still remember going 2400+ packs without pulling a non-live perfect. A streak like that you can complain about.

"I had a bad 10 pack!" Bruh

Thanks for the invite, but I like the flow here. I don't have patience to try to follow the screen at high speed or the wish to listen to all the inane drivel that comes with the headphones to glean a small amount of information. I have 4 grandsons from 25-33 years and they try to point me to that stuff too.

The top of the forum here reads, Welcome to the OOTP Community. On one side that be true. On this side that be false.

Keep having fun!

LOL... at 77 years old, and a 23 year veteran of OOTP, there is no such thing as "not to be an old timer". If the discussion moves totally to Discord, it'll go without me.

Yeah, Discord is like RTS for messaging. Not for every taste and not to mine either. If there is some useful category then its pretty much impossible to find anything from history.
Say it and forget it communication, these new platforms tend to focus more on how to handle currently active discussions and let everything else slide into forgotten realms.

I feel like people are thinking my complaint is that I went 10 packs without a gold, diamond, or perfect card. Obviously, 10 packs is too small of a sample size to mean anything in those regards.

My point is that having 93% duplicates is absurd. And anecdotally, I cannot remember the last time I opened a pack that was not 5/6 duplicates.

And of the 950 cards I don't own, 660 are gold or higher. But at least 75% of the gold or higher cards I've gotten the last month have been dupes. I haven't landed a gold or higher of any of the new sets.

What is there to keep me interested if I am investing the time and energy into twitch streams and tourneys and in return get nothing of value?

Opening packs this year, like everything else, is an act of futility. I opened close 300 packs today with 2 diamonds being pulled. It's like getting kicked in the gnads over and over again. Not only have the combinator's sucked the joy out of playing tournaments, but now even opening packs is joyless.

I cracked two spotlight packs today and got a 101 Helton and a 101 Shoeless Joe if that helps.

Felt pretty good. Highly recommend.

Had you posted about the incredible fortune of pulling TWO 101 OVRs in a two-pack run, I think a lot of us would have said "congratulations"... but as a response to someone who was already feeling down about their luck was a rub-in, whether you intended it or not.

I am just waiting on the 110 OVR Cards that must surely be on the way.

The first will probably be a FL Card rated 110 OVR and never played an inning in MLB. This week's shiny new Spotlight Packs will give you your only chance to draw one until 10 days after they go off sale. But hurry, hurry, hurry because this sale will be only 72 hours. These special Spotlight Packs will cost 0nly 175,000 PP. After all, you might just draw that new FL, Joe Blow. He is a power hitter with 210 BABIP and 387 PWR rating. He also pitches with 225 Ratings across the pitching spectrum. he has 241 RNG in the outfield and a 300 ARM.

Don't miss this chance to own your own piece of baseball history that never did and never will happen with this exciting new level of cards.

You guys can pile on all you want, but it won't detract from my enjoyment of the game. It rewards long-term planning, patience, and effort which is why it will always be "niche". I don't know why that had to have 101 cards, but who cares? OVR is meaningless and I'll be getting Pedro Martinez and Ted Williams by the end of August anyway.
