Filip-Indo League

The Filip-Indo League is another combination of National Leagues, with 4 teams from each of Indonesia and the Philippines. This league was born out of each of these nations becoming baseball superpowers in the previous iteration of this world.

Filipino teams have claimed 7 titles so far, Indonesian teams have 8. The most successful teams have been Manila with 4 championships, Surabaya and Medan with 3 each, and Cebu City with 2.

The most recent championship was won by Medan in a sweep of Davao.

India League

I feel like at some point India has to get into baseball, right? A billion people who love cricket? Seems like a natural fit.

The India League has been around for 12 years, with the Ahmedabad Sabarmatis the team to beat. They've won 7 championships so far. The only team within sight is Delhi, who has won 3.

Lega Italia

Lega Italia seems to be, as far as I can tell, a cruel joke on those who love baseball in the city of Genova.

4 out of the 6 ITL teams have a historic winning percentage over .500, one more is just 6 games under .500. Genova, on the other hand, is .392.

Every team in Lega Italia has won the championship other than Genova. Palermo has 5, Roma has 4, Torino has 3, Napoli has 2, Milano has 1.

If you need a team to root for in Lega Italia, pick the Genova Galeoni. Someday, it'll be their day.

Lega Gran Colombia

(I apologize to the people of Ecuador, once I get better at photoshop I will fix the crest of your flag.)

Liga Gran Colombia is the newest league added to the Wide World of Baseball, it begins play this November and features teams from Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. The league is named after the short-lived 19th century state of Gran Colombia.

Nordic League

You're gonna want to wear long sleeves in the Nordic League. I'm calling this a "National League" but I'm really stretching the definition of my own term here (just wait, I'll do it again!). The Nordic League features one team each from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Åland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. Copenhagen leads the way with 5 championships. Each team other than Åland has won at least one.

(2058 Nordic League standings)

Ísland (Iceland) is the latest champion, defeating Gothenburg in 5 games.

Suid-Afrikaanse Liga

Do you feel compelled to waste an entire afternoon? Try getting an image-generating AI to spell stuff in Afrikaans (it's really hard!).

The Suid-Afrikaanse Liga, based in South Africa, is the only National League in the continent. Nine seasons in, the dominant team is currently the Bloemfontein Rose, who have won the last three championships. They most recently defeated Durban in 5 games.

UK League

The UK League features teams in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and the Isle of Man. Teams are limited to 6 foreign players, a rule which Isle of Man in particular is petitioning to change (I am changing it immediately after I finish this post.)

(2058 UK League standings)

London (6), Birmingham (6), and Manchester (3) are the only teams in the UK League to win championships so far, the most recent being Birmingham over Sheffield in 6 games.

Baltic League

The Baltic League logo is an example of pretty good idea, pretty poor execution on my part. Will definitely be remaking this one in the future. The BAL consists of two teams each from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

The Baltic League began play this past season, with its inaugural championship won by Kauno over Vilniaus in 6 games.

Olympiad Tournament

The Olympiad is the biggest international tournament in this world, held annually at a rotation of host sites. It includes the top-32 baseball nations in the world, split into groups of 4. Each team plays 6 games within their group with the top-2 advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs are then split into two round robins, each of which advance two teams for a four-team playoff.

International Tournaments

In addition to the Olympiad, players can also compete for their countries in one of 10 international tournaments. These tournaments are held in the fall, between the end of the Major League season and opening day for leagues in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Africa Cup is made up of the top-20 baseball nations in Africa, split into North and South divisions. The top-5 teams in each division advance to a round robin playoff similar to the Olympiad.

The Africa Cup has been won by Egypt (6x), South Africa (6x), Ethiopia (once), and Nigeria (once).

The Asia Cup is comprised of 20 Asian nations split into a "Pro League" and a "Challenger League." 6 teams from the Pro League and 2 teams from the Challenger League advance to a round robin playoff. The teams in each league are:

Pro League: Japan, South Korea, China, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong

Challenger League: Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, North Korea, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Mongolia.

If a team from the Challenger League wins the Asia Cup, they will be promoted to the Pro League, with the team last place in the Pro League demoted. This has yet to happen.

The Asia Cup has been won by Japan (7x), South Korea (4x), India (2x), and China (once).

The EuroCup is made up of 48 countries across Europe, with teams split into four divisions of 12. Teams play 11 games in the regular season, with the top-4 in each group advancing to a round robin playoff.

The EuroCup has been won by the Netherlands (4x), France (3x), England (3x), Germany (2x), Spain (once) and Italy (once).

The Caribe Cup features 20 countries from the Caribbeans, split into four divisions, the Caribe East and West, and the Antilles North and South. Teams play 4 games each in the regular season, once against each opponent in their division. The top-4 in each "Caribe" division advance, while only first place in the Antilles divisions advance.

Puerto Rico (7x), Dominican Republic (5x), and Cuba (2x) have won Caribe Cups so far.

The Latin America Cup stretches across Central and South America, comprised of 22 nations split into three geographically-based divisions. The top-two teams from each division advance to a single round robin playoff.

Champions of the Latin America Cup so far have been: Venezuela (6x), Colombia (4x), Mexico (2x), Brazil (once) and Panama (once).

The Middle East Cup is made up of 25 countries split into five divisions. 10 teams advance to a single-group round robin playoff.

The Middle East Cup has been won by Saudi Arabia (5x), Turkey (3x), Israel (2x), Iran (2x), Pakistan (once) and Qatar (once).

The States Cup is my personal favorite tournament to watch. Rather than play for Team USA, American players instead suit up for their home state/territory. The States Cup features all 50 states, plus 5 U.S. territories. Puerto Rico is not included, as they are occupied with the Caribe Cup.

States Cup winners: Texas (3x), California (2x), Illinois (2x), Arizona (once), Washington (once), Florida (once), New York (once).

The Canada Cup will be Canada's version of the States Cup. It is currently a work in progress.

The Oceania Cup is also a work in progress, and will be Oceania's international tournament.

Global Amateur Championship

I'm a big hockey guy, and every year I love watching the World Juniors. That is where the idea for the Global Amateur Championship came from. The GAC, however, is a bit more involved...

The GAC, in total, includes 128 nations split into 16 divisions of 8 teams each. The top-5 from each group advance into a single-elimination, 80-team playoff. Teams are only allowed to select players with zero days of service time across all leagues.

Past GAC champions: United States (7x), Dominican Republic (3x), Venezuela (once), Japan, France, Australia

League of Legends

The League of Legends was spawned by a joking comment on one of my posts on r/OOTP, and this is what I came up with.

The LoL is a tournament for draft eligible high school and college prospects that takes place shortly before the draft. Prospects are sorted into teams by nationality, and each nation's team is named after a legendary player (or players) from that nation from the previous iteration of this world. This is my way of memorializing those lost in the great PC crash of March 2025.

Native League

The Native League is the only league in this world classified as an "Independent League." The NAL is limited to players under 28 years old, and free agents are not allowed to enter the league from other leagues. Teams are limited to only American players.

The idea here is that all players in the Native League would have Native American heritage, so that's the headcanon we're working with.

Antarctic Research League

Last but not least, we have The Antarctic Research League. The ARL is entirely quarantined from the rest of the baseball world, no free agents come in, and none leave.

This league is where I run experiments on our players such as massive rule changes, tiny rosters, and genetic modification.

Our most recent test subject was Knuckle Arbuckle (originally known as Jim Arbuckle). Knuckle was the worst player in the 2046 ARL draft before our scientists blessed him with a maxed out knuckleball and literally no other attributes.

No actual scientific value is derived from the Antarctic Research League.

(Deep exhale)

I believe that's everything. I will continue to document this league, starting with the upcoming season, here in this thread. As the league evolves, I'll post about each new league I create.

I plan on creating a post on the Mods board with the logos I've created, just need to sort out what is original and what I got from other users here. I want to thank once again everyone who's logos I've utilized in making this save. Without the hard work of the folks here, this all would have stayed an idea in my head.

This is also my first post on this forum, so hello everyone! I hope you've enjoyed, and hopefully you stick around to see where we go next in the Wide World of Baseball.
