Series Preview: LA Dodgers @ Dodger Stadium (3-Games)

Do i really need to say how BIG this series is?
Its either the Cubs or the Dodgers we will play in the NLCS, that is if we get through the NLDS of course.
They took the series from us in the Big Apple, so lets repay them in kind here at Chavez Ravine.
Justin Turner and Chris Taylor are their main hitters now that Corey Seager is on the Mets.
They can also pitch though with Kenta Maeda and Ross Stripling leading the charge.
Syndergaard, Kershaw and Strasburg will be leading our charge versus our hated NL rivals from the West Coast.

NY METS 4

LA Dodgers 3
Dodger Stadium

A huge error by Josh Donaldson in the 9th almost cost us the game, but the bullpen was able to close the win. (AI CHEATS!)
Noah Syndergaard goes 6 and gives up 2 runs on 6 hits.
Every man i brought in from the bullpen got a Hold with Ken Giles getting his 7th save.
Josh Donaldson (11), Gary Sanchez (19) and Mike Trout (39) went deep in this game.
The Golden Bat goes to Trout though as he went 1-3, a HR, 2 RBIs and a BB.
Ill take this close win and i know the rest of this series versus the LAD will be very tight indeed.

NY METS 13
LA Dodgers 3
Dodger Stadium

I remember when we lost 14-3 to the Dodgers @ Citi Field earlier this year.
Felt good to give them some payback the same way.
Clayton Kershaw gets his 20th win, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with 10 Ks to his credit.
The Mets lineup blasted Dodger pitching tonight.
HRs: Mike Trout (40), Giancarlo Stanton (31).
Ill give the Golden Bat to Trout once again, who went 2-4, a HR, 3 RBIs and a walk.
With the win, we take the series over the LAD.
Strasburg will try to sweep them tomorrow night.

It feels real good to sweep the Dodgers.
Stephen Strasburg goes 6 and gives up 1 run on 3 hits.
The run came from LAD Francisco Lindor, a HR, so i guess he was a little mad that we traded him to the LAD for Corey Seager.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his 32nd HR of the year and Mike Trout blasted his 41st, a Grand Slam that put the game away for the Mets.
He gets the Golden Bat again.
We have the day off tomorrow before a weekend series with PHI.
What is special about this day off however, because of a makeup game with ATL later in the month, its our last one until the Postseason, barring any rain-outs.
That means we finish the season with 24 straight games!
I might expand the roster a bit further to get some more relief help.

MLB News:

ARZ Zack Greinke is done for the year!
Since they are probably going to be one of the NL Wild Card teams at season's end, that is a HUGE loss!

The LA Dodgers clinch the playoffs, even with today's loss to the NYM.
They should clinch the NL West very soon!

Series Preview: PHI Phillies @ Citi Field (3-Games)

We now begin a stretch of 24 games in a row.
The Phillies visit the Big Apple for the last time this season.
We want to give them a very warm welcome.
Rhys Hoskins and Carlos Santana are some young players that the Phillies can build upon.
Jake Arrieta and Aaron Nola are their aces on the mound.
Sale, Kluber and Syndergaard are the pitchers for this series.

PHI Phillies 2
NY METS 3
Citi Field

Chris Sale just cant get the run support to get wins this year.
He does go 7 innings and gives up 2 runs on 4 hits.
Luis Severino got the win, his 6th.
The Mets were down early as PHI Nathan Eovaldi was having a great game.
But the Mets lineup clawed its way back thanks to some key hitting.
A sacrifice fly by Josh Donaldson in the 9th allows Jose Altuve to score from 3rd and give the Mets a very close win.
Buster Posey gets the Golden Bat tonight.
He went 3-4 with 2 RBIs.
Ill take the win to start the weekend.

PHI Phillies 1
NY METS 5
Citi Field

Corey Kluber has a good night going 5 innings and gives up a run on 5 hits.
But once again, he cannot get his 20th win.
Max Scherzer gets his 2nd win of the year.
Corey Seager hit his 20th HR tonight as the Mets lineup was able to get through PHI Aaron Nola.
The Golden Bat goes to Seager as well as he went 1-3 with a big HR, 2 RBIs and a walk.
We win the series over PHI and now Thor gets the start for the sweep tomorrow afternoon.

Well, you cant win them all, even though we really tried to get this one.
Rough day for Noah Syndergaard, who gave up 4 earned runs on 9 hits.
But it was Max Scherzer who took the loss.
HRs: Josh Donaldson(12), Giancarlo Stanton (33), Bryce Harper (41) and Charlie Blackmon (8) PH-HR!
Even though most of my batters had a good day, i do not give out a Golden Bat when we lose.
But we do win the series 2-1 over PHI and we now wait for MIA to come to the Big Apple.

This Week in Baseball---NY METS

Starting out 6-2 for September is not a bad thing.
As i said earlier this week, we do not get a day off until the season ends.
With 112 wins, we need 6 more to match the PrePredicts and 7 to pass them.
That is the goal we set for ourselves at the start of the season.

2018 Pennant Chase---Week 2

American League:

East: A 6-game losing streak has put BOS behind the Blue Jays. What a time to do that! They do play each other in a HUGE series this week!
Central: The Twins have an 8 game lead on CLE. Don't see much change here.
West: Still very tight. TEX and LAA are tied for the lead with the Astros and Athletics still breathing down their necks. TEX and LAA play this week.
Wild Card: The two Wild Card teams will probably come from the AL West. The Rangers, Angels, and Astros still being in range of each other.

2018 Pennant Chase---Week 2

National League:

East: The Mets have clinched!
Central: The Cubs magic number is down to 10 and should clinch with 10 days.
West: The Dodgers should clinch before the end of the week.
Wild Card: The Padres have a small 2 game lead to host the Wild Card Series as a 6-game winning streak has put ARZ within striking range.

Series Preview: MIA Marlins @ Citi Field (4-Games)

We have a 4-game set with the Fish coming up.
Cannot overlook JT Realmuto, Derek Dietrich and Lewis Brinson, who are hitting the ball well.
Dietrich always seems to come through versus the Mets.
The pitching is not scary, but with a team that just got eliminated from playoff contention, you never know what the Marlins will bring to the ballpark.
Kershaw, Strasburg, Sale and Kluber are the pitchers for this series.

MIA Marlins 4
NY METS 10
Citi Field

Back into the win column we go as the Mets take this game from the Marlins.
Clayton Kershaw goes 6 and gives up 4 runs on 8 hits.
The bullpen closes the game out.
HRs: Gary Sanchez (20), Jose Altuve (21) and Josh Donaldson (13) as we tee off on MIA pitching.
I think i will give the Golden Bat to Donaldson, who went 2-3, scored 3 times, a HR, 3 RBIs and walked twice.
He had a pretty good game by his standards i think.

Stephen Strasburg was not on planet Earth the way he pitched tonight.
He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits with 12 strikeouts on the Marlins.
Luis Severino got his 3rd save as the bullpen closed out the game.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his 34th HR of the year.
Carlos Correa got the Golden Bat as he went 1-2 with 2 BBs, 2 RBIs and scored twice.
Lets see if we can keep this going!

This game was a little crazy and pretty much went back and forth.
Chris Sale had a tough time today, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits.
The bullpen didn't do much better but Robert Gsellman got his 1st win and Aroldis Chapman got his 19th save.
The lineup needed a few innings to wake up but when they did, they did their job.
Freddie Freeman (21), Bryce Harper (42) and Corey Seager (2) belted the long-ball to help the Mets overcome a quick 3-0 deficit.
The Golden Bat goes to Josh Donaldson though as he went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs.
He had a big triple in the 7th.
We take the series and now it will be up to Kluber to get the sweep.

This may be the funniest reasons for a dynasty I've seen yet! I gotta say, you have my vote for GM of the Year for this team you've put together. Although part of me wants to see you go down in the playoffs just to see the team you assemble next year...
