Playoffs? Not really. The wild cards are probably all gonna end up with the AL East at this rate (helped by fewer games in division), but the Tigers are now finally reaching a softer part of their schedule. If they wanna show something, they better do it now.

Don't know much about the Mariners, but the Pirates are in free fall, and the Gnats, Royals, and White Sox are all various degrees of rotten. And it's the Twinkies in first place, and when do they ever do good about anything?

Over the past decade, my recollection is that bad things seem to always happen against the Twinkies. Maybe the numbers won't hold up my painful memories but I fear the mighty twinks.

It really is now though as you say, that they need to show something or sink permanently with the schedule lightening.

I only really got into baseball in 2011-ish, so I mostly know the Twinkies as using six pitchers a game and taking a 3-0 lead on the damn Yankees in a wild card game and frittering it away by using six pitchers in a game.

If you look past Boyd's disastrous 2 innings, not a bad performance.

I will cop to not paying much attention to them other than taking note of Rodriguez last year. They have a nice group of players out there.

I like that games like this, currently, seem more out of the ordinary rather than the norm.

Fill-in starter Faedo today. He doesn't need to be good, just needs to not blow up early. Get through 4 and only surrendering 2 or 3 is probably a positive outcome for this start. I am not optimistic that he can do that though.

Sorry you faced our newest ace Bryce Miller. The Ms have 4 pitchers with a WAR of at least 1.

He was pretty good. I hope, for Seattle's sake, that he stays that way as teams get more familiar with him.

I had never heard of him. Very impressive start.

Wentz starting off decently. Hopefully he'll have a repeat of his last outing today.

Runs from bases loaded walks count.

Gibby is on the TV broadcast tonight! I know that he isn't everyone's cup of tea but I have come to love the few games that he works.

No, Gibby is not my favorite. But, compared to Cameron Maybin, who (maybe because of nerves) was constantly talking and didn't allow any dead air, Gibby was nice. He, at least, allowed the game to be watched with moments of quiet.

I agree on Maybin. Just not good. Craig Monroe's heavier rotation in the booth has been good, I still like Peahces in there and am thankful to longer have to listen to Morris.

Tigers are 30th in runs scored, but second in the AL Central

...and Jake Rogers more and more looks like it's 1974!

The combined age of the participants in that foot race to first base that ended the bottom 2nd was 83 - and it showed!
