All-Star Selections
The MLB All-Star Game is just days away and the final rosters are out. For the American League, the Boston Americans placed three starters (Frank Chance, Fred Clarke, and Chick Stahl) and four total players (Noodles Hahn). In the National League, the Boston Beaneaters also placed three starters (Charlie Irwin, George Browne, Jimmy Ryan) and five total players (Pete Dowling and Jimmy Williams). The All-Star Game is a chance for MLB's best to showcase their talents and this should be a fun one to watch.

1902 MLB All-Star Game
In a match-up of the game's best players, the American League All-Stars jumped out to an early lead and never looked back; cruising to a 6 to 2 victory over the National League All-Stars. While Jack Sutthoff picked up the victory for the AL, it was Bill Phillips who deserved the spotlight, as he pitched 6 scoreless innings to pick up the save. Bob Wicker was tagged with the loss. At the plate, Honus Wagner (2 for 4, Triple, 2 Runs, 1 RBI) led the AL, while Jimmy Ryan (1 for 4, Home Run, 1 Run, 2 RBIs) led the NL.
Player of the Game: Bill Phillips

Mid-Season Snapshot
A quick look at the baseball universe at the mid-season point. The two Boston teams continue to dominate the MLB standings, Nap Lajoie is a hitting machine, and Rube Waddell is an amazing pitcher. It will be fun to see how the season turns out.

Game 66: Boston Americans vs. Philadelphia Athletics
The best way to come out of the All-Star break is with a win, and the Boston Americans (49-17) did just that as they topped the Philadelphia Athletics (25-41) by a score of 4 to 1. Cy Young (12-3) was dialed in, as he allowed just 1 earned run on 8 hits to finish with a Game Score of 72. Red Donahue (4-11) was saddled with the loss after giving up 4 earned runs on 8 hits and 3 walks; Game Score of 54.
At the plate, Chick Stahl (3 for 3, Double, 1 Run, 1 Walk), Bill Lange (2 for 4, 2 Runs, 3 Stolen Bases), and Cy Young (2 for 3, 2 RBIs) hit well for Boston, while Tom McCreery (2 for 4, Triple, 1 Run) and Billy Clingman (2 for 4, Double) played well for Philadelphia in the loss.

Game 67: Boston Americans vs. Philadelphia Athletics
Normally having a late-inning 3 run lead and ace Noodles Hahn on the mound results in a victory for the Americans. But this is why they play the game, because it only takes just one bounce, bloop, miscue, etc... for the tide to turn. Heading into the bottom of the 8th inning, Hahn had limited the Athletics to 5 harmless hits and appeared to be cruising to a shutout victory. But back-to-back-to-back doubles, coupled to two untimely walks, put Philadelphia (26-41) ahead and they would take the game from Boston (49-18) by a score of 4 to 3.
Button Briggs (7-11) pitched well in the victory, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks; Game Score of 62. Noodles Hahn (11-6) was tagged with the loss after allowing 4 earned runs on 11 hits and 2 walks; Game Score of 46. The Athletics offense came from Honus Wagner (2 for 3, Double, 1 Run, 1 RBI, 1 Walk), Tom McCreery (2 for 4, Double, 1 Run, 1 RBI), and Fred Hartman (2 for 4, 1 Run), while Boston was helped by John Farrell (2 for 4, 2 RBIs), Frank Chance (2 for 4, 1 Run), and Fred Clarke (2 for 4, 1 Run). Player of the Game: Button Briggs

Game 68: Boston Americans vs. Philadelphia Athletics
After yesterday's meltdown, it was good to see the team bounce back with a dominate win. Boston (50-18) jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 9 to 1 victory over the Athletics (26-42). Jesse Tannehill (14-4) kept the opposition at bay, allowing just 1 unearned run on 6 hits, 3 walks, and 1 hit batsman; Game Score of 73. Happy Townsend (6-7) lasted 6 innings after surrendering 7 runs (6 earned) on 9 hits, 1 walk, and 1 hit batsman; Game Score of 29. Kid Carsey pitched the final 3 innings in relief, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits.
Player of the Game: Jesse Tannehill (Season: #10 / Career: #31)

Top Prospects
The mid-season top prospects list is out, and several recent scouting discoveries are quickly climbing up the ladder. Additionally, the Philadelphia Athletics are stock piling potential future stars, as they currently hold the top spot thanks to having the #4, #7, and #9 prospects, while the Chicago Orphans are ranked last in team farm rankings.

Mid-Season Goal Review
Overall, the team owner seems happy with my performance but clearly wants me to upgrade at 1st base. I have looked around the league, but admittedly like having Jiggs Donahue on the team and want to give him a chance to shine. As they say, winning cures all evils...

Boston (52-18) jumped out to a quick 6 to 0 lead after the 1st inning and cruised to a 9 to 1 victory over St. Louis (30-40).

Game 71: St. Louis Browns vs. Boston Americans
What a strange game! Despite committing 6 errors in the field AND having 6 of its baserunners thrown out while attempting to steal, the Boston Americans (53-18) somehow manager to top the St. Louis Browns (30-41) by a score of 4 to 2.
Noodles Hahn (12-6) picked up the win by allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 10 hits for a Game Score of 66.
