No games between Knockemstiff and Paxville, with just 4 and 7 each against Cary. So it looks like a no show for D 2067
. As ever, I'll check the schedules again later...

An unfortunate spread, as 3 OL teams battle it out in both the AC East and Central.

Kops are Tops in Early OL S373 Returns
Keystone parlayed a six-of seven showing against Gettysburg into a fast break from the gate. With a half-dozen more teams above .500, it should be a spirited race in 2067.

Given the uneven distribution of OL teams in Gold it is no surprise that the standings show an uneven distribution of games early on. Nowhere Men are off to a perfect 2-0 start. There already been a number of ups and downs during the month--I expect that to continue and it should be a good race. The offensive performance of the month was Waffletown's Ralph Kiner who cornered the market on RBIs that day--2 HRs and 8 RBIs in a game. Sugar Hill's Dwight Gooden had the pitching performance of the month with a 2 hit, no walk, 11 strikeout shoutout of the NY Patriots.
The league is pretty competitive with lots of changes expected. Right now OL in 5 of 10 playoff spots. |

Port Ruppert were unbound in OL play, 10-0, to take the OL lead.HelthWyzer and Nowhere Men are keeping close. The top offensive performance was again cornered by Waffletown's Ralph Kiner who had 3 HRs and 6 RBIs in a game. Waffletown's Jacob deGrom matched Dwight Gooden's performance from earlier in the season (11K, no walk, 2 hit shutout) to earn the month's top pitching performance.
OL teams have 4 division leaders and 2 in WC position currently. Last edited by Quinta; 02-16-2022 at 11:11 AM. |

Syrup's Kiner has cooled off considerably with regards to the long ball.... he was on pace at one point to hit over 70, but hasn't picked up a home run now in 20 games... |

Broncs Catch Atom Smashers, El Caminos Surge
Sonora galloped to a 16-7 mark, while Annandale slipped to 5-8 and they fell into a deadlock at the top. South Holland went 11-4 to close to third, while Keystone, Route 66 and Lemp Ave. all kept pace in the wide open race.

Just a quick update today--Port Ruppert continue to lead but the Nowhere Men are somewhere close behind. 4 OL teams lead divisions.

In another flip of the standings, Shinbone takes the top spot, with West Burlington holding steady in second. So far, the top pitching performance belongs to Bluffton's Mike Mussina, who walked one in no-hitting Boston on 5/14. Shinbone has the top hitters, with Jeff Bagwell taking the lead in HR's, Oscar Charleston leading in RBI, slugging, WAR, and total bases, George Sisler leading in hits, runs, and doubles, and Tony Fernandez topping the league in triples.

Annandale Get Hot Again
The Atom Smashers streaked to 15-4 to open up a little space on Keystone, which catapulted to second on an 8-4 month. Sonora High, 5-6, Lemp Ave., 3-2, and Route 66, 9-9, remain in the hunt, but slipped off a bit.

Port Ruppert slightly increased their lead as all the challengers could not keep pace. Nowhere Men are still pretty close but need more cooling off by the Mundys to make up ground. Port Ruppert's Willie Mays also had the performance of the month/season with a 3 HR, 2 BB, 8 RBI performance. Nowhere Men's Randy Johnson did have a 1 hit shoutout with 7Ks.
Port Ruppert, Algoma, Nowhere Men, and Waffletown lead divisions and Brooklyn is in a WC. It should be pointed out that with 12 relegations this season there may be some above .500 teams that will be relegated. Right now the Stealheads are in a relegation spot while being 2 games over .500 (while Waffletown is in 1st place they were in a relegation spot with a similar win perecentage earlier in the season). 5 OL teams in a relegation spot right now. |

It's a big day (month) in Bronze. Shinbone is still on top, but their August schedule includes 17 OL contests, including six against nemesis Left Coast and six against second-place West Burlington. The Stars have split their 10 games this season against the LabRats. The battles with the Farmhands will be their only meetings of the season.

Atom Smashers Sustain Sizzle in Silver
Annandale rang up another gaudy record, going 15-5, to give themselves a little bit of space atop OL S373. Lemp Ave., 11-6, moved into second, while Keystone, 8-7, and Sonora High, 6-8, filled out the top four. Cleveland posted an 8-3 mark, but along with Route 66, 14-10, and South Holland, 3-3, are likely to find that even very good will not be good enough.

Port Mundy went 11-1 and moved out to a 5 game lead. Right now just too hot. They have not clinched (they have 18 OL games left) but Nowhere Men need a lot of wins and several Mundy losses to make ground. The best offensive performance of the month was Nowhere Men's Dan Brouthers going 4-7 with 1 HR, 1 SB and 7 RBIs against NY Patriots. Steelheads' Randy Johnson had the pitching performance of the month with a 2 hit, 9K, no walk shoutout shutout. Tomorrow the OL MVPs will be announced and Port Ruppert Mundy's Eddie Collins is a strong front runner. The Cy (Denton True) Award race is much closer with Port Ruppert's Greg Maddux and Sandy Koufax, Brooklyn's Ed Walsh, Waffletown's Greg Maddux and Jacob DeGrom, and even Babel's Jacob deGrom in the running.
The OL continue to have 4 division leaders but nobody in the WC right now. The relegation zone has moved below .500 and only 4 teams are currently in relegation territory. |

A rough day for Shinbone results in West Burlington taking over the top spot in Silver. However, the final month of the season has too much action for the Farmhands to feel safe. Inland Empire is close behind and Shinbone is not out of the race at all.
Six of the 10 playoff spots should fall OL's way. Only Lumberton is set for relegation at this point. |

Here's how Diamond finished up:
For the sake of interest, Cary beat Knockemstiff 3-0, but Paxville beat Cary 6-1. Cary take a wildcard after a good return to Diamond, whilst, despite finishing with decent enough records, both the Kings and the Shiners had pretty rotten seasons. Good luck to Cary in the playoffs, and let's hope for a few promotions from Gold! |
