As far as the playoffs are concerned, Airport performed at a much higher level than the rest of the league, so I am also expecting them to bullrush both opponents for the first title of the league. I do have results from the conference championships, so that comes this morning. . . .

April 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 27 April 2314 CBA Playoffs Update - Conference Title Results NCC - #1 Salem Shadows vs #2 Medford Irish Game 1: Medford 78 at Salem 99 Game 2: Medford 112 at Salem 121 Game 3: Salem 89 at Medford 111 Game 4: Salem 111 at Medford 110 Game 5: Medford 105 at Salem 113 SCC - #1 Airport Aviators vs #2 Southie Jammers Game 1: Southie 95 at Airport 118 Game 2: Southie 109 at Airport 132 Game 3: Airport 125 at Southie 111 Game 4: Airport 91 at Southie 108 Game 5: Southie 115 at Airport 129 Commonwealth Championship Preview: Salem Shadows vs Airport Aviators We are now to the finals for the 2313-14 CBA season with each of the conference champions set to face off in the seven-game series. Airport will host games 1 and 2 on April 27 (today) and 29, and potentially games 5 and 7 on May 5 and 9. Should the series go all seven games, it would end on May 9. Salem is the host of games 3 and 4 on May 1 and 3 and potentially Game 6 on May 7. During the regular season, the Aviators dominated the Shadows, going 7-2. One of those two losses was a home loss in overtime, showing that Airport was the better team. The Aviators won games 1-4 and 7-9 in the series, with wins of 128-101, 119-105, 120-115, 127-199, 124-109, 115-107, and 114-99. In the two losses, games 5 and 6, Salem won 123-114 and 121-118 in OT. Looking at the matchups, Airport's team statistics dominate Salem in just about every category but rebounding. Part of that rebounding advantage for the Shadows is due to C Licker Sam Arnold (17.0 PPG, 7.6 APG, and 12.6 RPG) who led the CBA in triple-doubles (15), which means he had double-digit (10 or more) statistics in three categories. That is considered a feat in competitive basketball. He also had 58 double-doubles. Otherwise, Airport's threats are too much for the Shadows. Of course, scoring falls mainly to C DA Forte (25.9) and PF BB Whiteman (19.5), but the Aviators had five players averaging double figures in scoring, including SF Fickle Fitzpatrick (15.9), PF Eric Potter (12.0), and PF Brick Watson (11.6). For Salem, the top two scorers were not Arnold but PG JB Letterhead (25.6) and SF Jamal Pleick (20.4). Other double-digit scorers on average were SF Arlick Lurk-Hunter (10.2) and SF Max Effort Alt (10.0). For rebounding, C Armand Penn (8.4) helped the Shadows to be effective there, which is what they will need to overcome a strong Airport team. Prediction We hate to do this for the first CBA championship, but there seems to be an initial gap between Airport and the rest of the league. Based on what we know of each team and how they performed in the regular season and playoffs, we have no choice but to predict a sweep. Airport 4, Salem 0. NEBA Playoffs Results The NEBA's first two rounds of the playoffs are a single-elimination tournament with the top four teams (division winners and two wildcards) playing in each conference. The championship is still in action with the Jamaica Plain Thunderbirds down 1-0 to the Nuka World Wheelz in the three-game New England Championship. Here are the results: First Round #4 Rockland Defenders 73 at #1 Jamaica Plain Thunderbirds 94 #3 Concord Colonels 87 vs #2 Portland Irish 109 #4 Fall River Sailors 116 vs #1 Plymouth Sea Dogs 104 #3 Brockton Spartans 95 vs #2 Nuka World Wheelz 110 Conference Finals Portland 99 at Jamaica Plain 124 Fall River 87 at Nuka World 115 New England Championship Game 1: Nuka World 118 at Jamaica Plain 95 POG: Topper Robinson, Nuka World - 28 points, 4 assists, 9 rebounds, 1 block Game 2: Jamaica Plain at Nuka World (April 28) Game 3 (if necessary): Nuka World at Jamaica Plain (April 30)

May 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 May 2314 The May 1 Super Post, Part 1 CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Hax Kim was declared the North Charles Association Batter of the Month today. Concord's catcher stroked 24 hits in 63 at-bats for a .381 average in April. He also hit 11 home runs, drove in 21 and scored 21 runs. SCA Hitter - End Yamada battered South Charles Association pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 32-year-old Yamada told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 22 games, Yamada hit .458 with 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 24 runs. NCA Pitcher - A standout performance in April earned Chad Nailgun the Pitcher of the Month Award in the North Charles Association. When his name was penciled in to start by the Concord skipper, it meant trouble for opposing teams. For the month the Radstags star racked up 5 wins and 1 loss. In 37.2 innings of work, Nailgun limited opposing batters to 34 base hits and a .245 batting average. He notched 31 strikeouts, issued 7 walks and had a 3.11 ERA. SCA Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award has been picked and the South Charles Association victor is Glowing Sea relief ace, Pink Floyd. For his solid outings in April he has been named the league's premier pitcher. During the month, the Radscorpions star had 6 saves in 6 save opportunities, a 0.82 ERA and 2 wins and no losses. In 11 innings Floyd struck out 13 and gave up 9 hits and 8 walks. NCA Rookie - Bunker Hill's Miko Miko collected 29 hits to snare the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month for April. He batted .392 with 5 home runs, 18 RBIs and 13 runs scored. The 20-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace. SCA Rookie - Topher Spark's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Southie right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In April he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .383 with 3 doubles, no triples and 6 home runs. Spark also scored 17 times and drove in 20 runs. CBO's Top Performances Hitter - Not only is he the NCA's Hitter of the Month, but Concord's Hax Kim also put in the CBO's top performance so far, 22 points better (118) than the next-best performance score (96) of the month. On April 28 against Cambridge, Kim was 4 for 5 with three home runs, a walk, four runs, and six RBI in the Radstags' 14-4 victory. Pitcher - Fort Hagen's Sarthis Idren put in the month's best pitching performance in a 2-0 complete-game shutout of Sunshine Tidings on April 29. In the game, Idris allowed just three hits and struck out 10, earning him a game performance score of 91, four points better than the next-best performance. CBO Statistical Standouts Average - .458 - SS End Yamada, Vault 81 - Yamada is .036 better than the next-best average (Easy Town's Albie Cannibal) to start the season. Not only does Yamada hold the lead in average, but he also leads the CBO in OBP (.554) and WAR (2.4). SLG - .968 - 1B Hax Kim, Concord - Kim is .116 better in SLG than Cambridge's McMack Bingham. Kim also leads the CBO in home runs (11), OPS (1.498), ISO (.587), OPS+ (266), and wOBA (.588), all showing a strong start in the Nuka Hitter Award race. ERA - 1.93 - SP Clubhouse Treelover, Fort Hagen - Possessing the only sub-2.00 ERA in the CBO, Treelover has been excellent, though at 2-2, he could use some extra run support. Treelover also leads the CBO in ERA+ (248). K/9 - 11.4 - SP Tarzan Rogers, Easy Town - Rogers has a 2.9 K/9 advantage on the next best rate (8.5), having struck out 32 in 25.1 innings pitched. At 3-1, 3.91, Rogers is having a decent season so far for the surprising Assaultrons. NEBL Analysis Eash team has played 23 games in the first month of the 2314 NEBL season. At this time, divisional leaders are the Everett Mutant Hounds (Maine), Graygarden Action Boys and Abernathy Adamantium (Vershire), Sandwich Bay Snakes (Mass), and Worcester Cannons and Providence Warlocks (Connri). NEBL Players of the Month PL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Rusty Raider certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the PL Batter of the Month award for April. The 21-year-old center fielder for the Everett Mutant Hounds hit .453 with 1 home run, 12 RBIs and 12 runs scored. YL Hitter - Chris Newtson has a lot going for him. The Fall River second baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Yankee League has just picked him as its top hitter for April. In 14 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .340 with 9 home runs, 17 RBIs and 14 runs scored. PL Pitcher - Quay Swimmer really put his best foot forward in April with 3 wins and 1 loss and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the Patriot League. When he got the start for the Manchester Granites, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 30 innings of work, Swimmer limited opposing batters to 19 base hits and a .173 batting average. He notched 30 strikeouts, issued 8 walks and had a 0.90 ERA. SL Pitcher - The April Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the Yankee League award went to Needham hurler, Hoot Wooten. During the month, Wooten was impressive with a 2.12 ERA and 3 wins and no losses. In 29.2 innings he struck out 26 and gave up 20 hits and 8 walks. MML Analysis In its second season as the CBO's AA affiliate, the MML is 16 games into the 2314 season. Divisional leaders are the Covenant Refractors (Boggs), Littleton Ragers and Belmont Sneakers (Murtagh), Pawtucket Pips (Williams), and Newton Behemoths and Bridgeport Gulchers (Yastrzemski). MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - Kid Yount made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Legends League this past month. The Littleton Ragers first baseman shined through the month of April and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 21-year-old hit .630 with 8 home runs, 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored. SL Hitter - Cranston Boomers fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in April. Sergio Higgins put up a remarkable month at the age of 21 and has been named the Stars League Batter of the Month. For the month, Higgins hit .426 with 13 home runs, 23 RBIs and 20 runs scored. NL Pitcher - Arturo Brown was on top of the world in April, capping it off with the Legends League Pitcher of the Month honors. The Covenant starter was superb in 4 starts with 4 wins and no losses, 30.2 innings pitched, 24 strikeouts and a fine 3.52 ERA. SL Pitcher - Squirrel Bitz doesn't think about his career all that much. He doesn't fixate on yesterday and he doesn't worry about next season -- he has learned to worry only about today. That attitude, coupled with no saves in 2 relief appearances netted the 26-year-old reliever April's Stars League Pitcher of the Month trophy earlier today. The Newton reliever pitched 18.1 innings, struck out 16 and walked 6 on the way to a 3-0 mark and a 1.47 ERA. BMU Analysis In the Single-A circuit, the BMU has decided in 2314 to call its entities "Division" rather than the "League" format like the inception of the league originally as the only minor league. The names of each division remain the same other than now being a division (e.g., the Cambridge League is now the Cambridge Division). That model may one day be a part of the CBO, too, though there has been no suggestion that it will come soon. For the BMU, divisional leaders are the Breakheart Banks Sugar Bombs (Dark Hollow Pond), Union Hope Lifegivers (Cambridge), Pleasant Lake Patriots (Downtown Boston), and Greater Mass Vans (Glowing Sea). BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - Lynn Woods Bloatflies fans believe they've got a talented young star in Donnie Gray. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in April, as he hit .397 with 12 home runs, 27 RBIs and 22 runs scored. The end result was the first baseman being named the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month. MA Hitter - At only 21 years of age, Noah Sandell could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the West Roxbury Mole Rats, as April was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .379 with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs and 24 runs scored. CA Pitcher - Toadie Yamamoto of the Union Hope Lifegivers outdistanced his peers on the mound this month. He fashioned a fine 4-0 won-lost mark and 1.04 ERA in 5 starts to get the Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month honors. Yamamoto had a very impressive April, finishing with 28 strikeouts in 34.2 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .184 average. MA Pitcher - There was little doubt around the Massachusetts Association that Andrew Seay would be awarded Pitcher of the Month honors for April. Today, they made it official, naming the 21-year-old West Roxbury Mole Rats starter the latest honoree. He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .213 batting average while fashioning a 2.49 ERA in 4 starts. His record for the month was 4-0 in 25.1 innings of work. GBRL Analysis The rookies trying to break their way out of prospect peril are 20 games into their 2314 season. All but one division has a sole leader at this time. Divisional leaders are the Coastal Cottage Buds and Brunswick Brainiacs (Northeast), Fiddler Green T-60s (Northwest), Woonsocket Orphans (Southeast), and Greenwich Grays (Southwest). GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 19 Ivan Paylor has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Croup Manor Leprechauns star can enjoy the numbers he put up in April, which have garnered him the nod as the North League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .325 average with 14 home runs, 26 RBIs and 15 runs scored. SL Hitter - Angel Ko is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Greenwich second baseman joined that select company when the South League announced the results of April's voting. Ko totaled 33 hits, 8 walks, 17 home runs, 36 RBIs and 27 runs scored last month to put together a .429 batting average and .489 on-base percentage. He has been promoted to the BMU. NL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month has been picked and the North League trophy went to Nuka Express hurler Strongback Grazer for his strong performance in April. During the month, Grazer was impressive with a 1.12 ERA and 5 wins and no losses. In 40 innings he struck out 42 and gave up 19 hits and 7 walks. SL Pitcher - A 5-0 record with a 0.93 ERA is a good month for most any pitcher. The South League thought it was worthy of an award and named Daley Williams, starter for the Big John Salvagers, April's Pitcher of the Month. He also held the opposition to a .104 average while posting 43 strikeouts in 38.2 innings.

May 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 May 2314 The May 1 Super Post, Part 2 CCBL Analysis With just two weeks and 13 games left in the 2314 regular season, the CCBL playoff journey is starting to take shape for the 16-team playoffs with four conference champions guaranteed a spot in the playoffs and then 12 teams in wildcard positions. Right now, no team has clinched a playoff spot, though we are close with the Terriers (36-16) 11 games up on the "17th" team in the wildcard race. CWU also has a four-game lead in the BCAC over Boston College, giving them the lowest Magic # of 10 for clinching a conference championship. Conference Leaders: BCAC - Commonwealth MassCon - Plymouth NoComm - Acadia College SoComm - Yale Looking at the rest of the field, conference races are still tight with CWU's largest lead. In the NoComm, Acadia College and Maine University are tied at 22-25 atop the conference, but the Minks have the current tiebreaker. That would put Acadia as the 16th seed based on the setup of the 2314 playoffs. The four teams with a Magic # below 10 to clinch a wildcard spot are Boston College (7), Quincy College (8), Mass Bay University (9), and Harvard University (9). Here are the wildcard standings with the current teams in if the postseason started today: CCBL Players of the Month Hitter - When Barbarus Bailey stepped up to the plate in April he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Batter of the Month award. The young Mass Bay University first baseman posted a .427 batting average with 13 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 30 runs. Bailey also worked pitchers for 17 walks to post a .496 on-base percentage. Thus far in 2314, Bailey is hitting .361 with 17 home runs, 48 RBIs, 44 runs scored and has compiled a .423 OBP. Pitcher - The Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League hitters didn't have a chance in April when the Yale Bulldogs manager wrote "Vaive" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Dave Vaive held teams in check and usually got a win. He excelled with a 6-1 mark and 1.07 ERA in 7 starts. The talented Bulldogs star pitched 59 innings, fanned 20 and held opposing teams to a .250 average. For his superb mound work Vaive was named the CCBL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. To date this season, Vaive sports a 9-1 mark with a 1.61 ERA in 12 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .246 batting average and has 35 strikeouts in 89.2 innings. CYL Analysis The CYL is 11 days away from concluding the 2314 season. Amazingly, no team has yet to clinch a playoff spot despite there being 16 spots were region. At 31-8, the Covenant Dandy Boys, defending champions, have the CYL's best record. Current division leaders are as follows: Franklin - Needham Radstorm and Sturbridge Rangers (24-15) Emerson - Lowell Frags (25-14) Fuller - Covenant Dandy Boys (31-8) Revere - North Charles Bank Goonies (25-13-1) DuBois - Rockport Seafarers (25-13-1) Adams - Hope Firestarters (26-13) Alcott - Andrew Station Southies (24-15) Morse - Taunton Giants (25-14) Attucks - Dennis Menaces (24-14-1) Hancock - Collegetown Spirits and Holyoke Mech Dragons (23-16) Looking at the wildcard leaders, non-division leaders in the playoff hunt iare led by the Saugus Launchers (29-9-1), which has the CYL's second-best record behind their Margaret Fuller Division rivals in Covenant. The Launchers are the only team pretty much set up to earn a wildcard spot, while the other 21 wildcard spots will be a ferocious fight to the finish. We will update once we know the field. CYL Players of the Month NR Hitter - Knob Elded put together a good April to earn the North Region Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Sudbury officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Celebs right fielder posted a .409 batting average with 17 home runs, 34 RBIs and 29 runs scored. At the moment, Elded is hitting .377 with 25 home runs and 51 RBIs. He has played in 39 games and scored 42 times. SR Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Commonwealth Youth League, Sluggo Luge put up some good numbers in April and earned the SR Batter of the Month award. He was one of Spectacle Island's offensive leaders with a .461 average in 24 games. He also racked up 15 home runs, 30 RBIs, and 24 runs scored. So far this year, Luge has hit .410 with 20 home runs, 41 RBIs and 35 runs scored. NR Pitcher - Last month was a very good one for T.J. A.J. R.J. Backslash of Manchester. So good that he has been picked as the Pitcher of the Month in the North Region. Backslash throttled league hitters the entire month, completing April with an impressive 4-0 mark and a 1.14 ERA in 6 starts with 46 strikeouts in 39.1 innings. This year, Backslash has compiled a 4-2 record with a 2.20 ERA in 11 starts. SR Pitcher - April was a very good month for Lo Breitenstein of the Woodlawn Gnomes. He held opposing hitters for a .240 average and took home the South Region Pitcher of the Month award. In 6 starts he claimed a 6-0 record as he put up a 3.18 ERA and struck out 46 in 45.1 innings. This season, Breitenstein has crafted a 8-1 mark with a 2.97 ERA in 72.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .233 against him and he has 65 strikeouts.

BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 4 May 2314 CBO Analysis Four weeks into the 2314 campaign, we are starting to see a few teams emerge. Three of the four leagues are tight, while one team, the Brotherhood League, is currently dominated by one team: #1 The Slog. With an 8-game lead over 2nd place, the Ghouls lead the 2nd place team by more games than most of the other leaders lead the 7th place team. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) The Slog Ghouls (147.4, o) 2) Vault 81 Dwellers (131.6, +) 3) Concord Radstags (125.7, +) 4) Oberland T-51s (125.7, ++) 5) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (112.7, +) 6) Bunker Hill 75ers (111.7, +) 7) Quincy Gunners (99.8, ++) 8) Diamond City Swatters (97.8, +) 9) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (97.8, ++) 10) Lexington Synths (96.8, +) 11) Southie Brews (94.8, --) 12) FHE Yao Guai (94.0, ++) 13) Cambridge Coursers (92.8, --) 14) Goodneighbor Hancocks (91.0, o) 15) Malden Grognaks (84.2, o) 16) Atom Cats (82.1, ++) 17) Egret Ninjas (80.2, -) 18) University Point Deathclaws (80.2, ++) 19) Starlight Killers (77.1, ++) 20) County Crossing Bloodbugs (75.1, --) 21) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (75.1, ++) 22) Easy Town Assaultrons (74.2, --) 23) Salem Witch Hats (71.1, -) 24) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (65.3, ++) 25) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (63.3, --) 26) Nahant Celtics (61.3, --) 27) Spectacle Island Reapers (57.3, -) 28) Roxbury Rad Sox (52.3, --) Brotherhood League The Ghouls are up by 8 as we mentioned. The other six teams are within two games of each other with Malden and Easy Town tied for 2nd, County Crossing, Nordhagen Beach, and the Salem tied for 4th, and Nahant alone in 7th place. The Slog looks as though they are true championship contenders to start the season. At 20-6, the Ghouls are winning with ease, currently 1st in runs scored (160) and red in runs allowed (106). Six of the eight in the lineup are hitting above .300, led by the efforts of SS Gavin Deux-Gas (.383/3/24), 2B Puddle Norman (.362/3/16), and C Silvam Fourteen (.361/3/16). The one outlier on the team is cleanup hitter, 1B Baktu DaWell (.175/2/11) with an early-season slump. The Slog expects the .324/29/80 on average slugger to turn his troubles around. All four starting pitchers have an ERA below 4.00: Klement Thodberg (1-2, 3.58), Flirt Perez (5-2, 3.99), Scott Fuhr (3-0, 2.35), and Isaiah Swindler (4-0. 3.00). In the bullpen, The Slog has the 5th-best Bullpen ERA (4.41) with RPs Quincy Jones (1-0, 2.84) and Keon Boykin (1-0, 2.84) doing the most to keep those numbers down. Institute League Concord is currently in control of the IL, one game up on both Bunker Hill and Fort Hagen. Lexington and Cambridge are tied for 4th, Starlight is in 6th, and Sunshine Tidings brings up the rear with a 10-16 mark. The Coursers would be considered in 5th place right now, but they are above .500, something they have set as a goal to keep them in playoff contention. Offensively, Cambridge is there, currently 3rd in the NCA with 150 runs scored. The clear-cut leader is 3B McMack Bingham (.389/11/32) who could be considered to be in the NCA's Nuka Hitter Award contention through the first month. RF Jim Geiger (.330/5/14) and 1B Moktar Wakihuri (.311/5/12) are the other top contributors. On the mound, the Coursers have not been good, currently dead last in runs allowed (168) in the NCA to go with the 12th Starters ERA (5.26) and 14th Bullpen ERA (7.28). For the starters, the top two starters--Hrye Caje (3-2, 5.00) and Jazz Delgado (1-3, 5.26)--have struggled most with Scooter Yaghmour (2-1, 2.75) and Freon McMahan (2-0, 1.69) looking quite better. In the bullpen, CL Monte Ward (6 SV, 4.35) is one of only two relievers with a sub-5.00 ERA. Minutemen League Just three games over .500, Southie has a half-game lead on Quincy in the ML. Those are the only two teams above .500 with Goodneighbor at .500. Unviersity Point and Atom are within range with a run, while Spectacle Island and Jamaica Plain are in a three-way tie with Roxbury for the CBO's worst record. For the Brews, pitching is keeping them in contention, 1st in the SCA with 104 runs allowed. However, the offense, 12th in runs scored (120), needs to find ways to be more efficient to increase playoff chances. Two players on offense not struggling are RF Topher Spark (.385/6/20) and SS Rick Rolled (.393/1/11) with heavy contributions from 1B Fairlane Ford (.320/3/14) and CF Glove Payton (.326/3/15). On the mound, the starters are not as good as the bullpen, 8th in Starters ERA (4.62) and 1st in Bullpen ERA (2.98). The top three starters are all struggling: Air McNair (2-2, 5.05), Buzzcut McDonald (3-2, 5.54), and Tiny de Grande (1-3, 5.29). Fourth-starter Cohort Williams (2-2, 3.81) is helping to keep the team ERA down. In the bullpen, CL Matthew Hughes (7 SV, 1.80) has been the leader with two players holding ERAs below 1.00: Legs DiCocco (1-0, 0.79) and Quintus Navale (0-0, 0.66). Railroad League With a 9-1 mark in their last 10, the best in the CBO, 1st place Vault 81 is alone in 1st place in the RL, one game up on Oberland. Diamond City and Glowing Sea are tied for 3rd, both two games above .500. FHE is at .500, followed by Egret and the Rad Sox. The Yao Guai thought they would be in the middle of championship contention, but at 13-13, questions about the "x-factor" of whether or not FHE can be a winning franchise has been questioned. Last season marked the Yao Guai's third trip to the playoffs, but they are not perceived as a threat to win it all. This season, the team is tied for 9th in runs scored (124) and tied for 8th in runs allowed (134). With the 11th-best batting average (.257), FHE has no one hitting above .300 at this point in the season. Leadoff 3B Slip Knotty (.284/6/13) leads the team in average and home runs. CF Missile Crews (.263/4/15/15 SB) is struggling a bit but does lead FHE in RBI and steals. Two starters are helping the team: Nien Nunb (4-1, 3.92) and Kennett Kentucky (2-1, 2.61), while ace Baker Dozen (2-3, 5.97) and Munyeb Funyun (1-2, 5.19) are getting shellacked regularly. In the bullpen, Agnet Skinner (0-0, 2.61) has been the best pitcher, while CL Ryan Roberson (7 SV, 7.07) has been terrible. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 27 - There's no arguing that 35-year-old Hid Matsumoto has paid his dues and this week he collected. The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud center fielder had one of the best weeks of his career and captured the North Charles Association Player of the Week trophy. He hit .500 while collecting 12 hits in 24 at-bats, 4 home runs, 7 RBIs and 10 runs scored. On the season, Matsumoto is batting .369 with 6 home runs and 12 RBIs. He has played in 19 games. His critics are starting to suggest that University Point's Barker Cocoa doesn't have much left, but the 35-year-old Cocoa prefers not to think that way. He cooked up a remarkable week in the last seven days, topping it off with the Player of the Week Award in the South Charles Association. The veteran first baseman for the Deathclaws rolled to a .571 average (16-for-28) with 4 home runs and 12 RBIs. For the year, Cocoa has hit at a .361 clip with 20 RBIs, 8 home runs and 18 runs scored. May 4 - One of the league's most exciting young players, Hillyer Bryan of the Malden Grognaks earned himself North Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 25-year-old right fielder had a lofty .500 average (15-for-30), collecting 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored. On the year, Bryan has hit .296 with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 17 runs. This week's Player of the Week was Kinsella Birdwatcher of the Quincy Gunners. His big bat beat up on South Charles Association pitching for 11 hits in 20 at-bats, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs while hitting .550 and scoring 7 runs. Birdwatcher currently has a .303 batting average with 23 hits, 2 homers, 18 RBIs, 11 runs scored and a .389 OBP. CBO Noteworthy News April 30 - Lexington SP Chase Wede suffered from rad poisoning after swimming in the Cambridge Reservoir despite the reservoir being declared rad-free. A local Institute team is supposed to begin studying the reservoir to see why Wede and others (no other Lexington players) were swimming and all suffered similar rad burns. May 3 - The Slog is going to hold a fun contest for draftee Brandon Brown, currently with the MML's (AA) Watertown Armorers, was drafted as the 78th overall pick in the 2313 Draft despite many scouts having him as a 1st-round talent. In Watertown, they would like to give Brown a "fun" name moving forward. Fans will pick names and Brown has vowed that he will go professionally by the name selected. Milestone Watch There are several milestones about to be reached in May. Here are a few we are keeping our eye on for news stories: 2000 Hits - Earthbound Bussey, Oberland - Just 22 hits shy, Bussey (.250/2/9) should hit the 2000 mark sometime in May. The 2000 Hit Club is made up of just 12 players, so at 13th (1978), Bussey would be in an elite crew. T-51s teammate Good Don Duck is the all-time hits leader with 2376. 600 HR - Barker Cocoa, University Point - As the only member of the 500 Club, Cocoa is just seven home runs short of joining the 600 Club. With 593 career homers, Cocoa (.359/10/25) leads the second-best, Oren Gep (477) by 115 dingers. 1000 RBI - Harry Byrd, Vault 81 - Byrd (.329/3/16) is just eight RBI short of reaching 1000 and could do that in May based on his current pace. Byrd would become the 25th player to knock in 1000 RBI in CBO history. Cocoa is the all-time leader (1602). 200 SB - Rabbit Forest, Lexington - Forest (.273/2/14/3) is just five steals short of 200 for his career, though he is not on pace to hit that mark in May. However, if he gets on base and runs a little more frequently, the 33-year-old could reach 200. Forest would be the 26th player to have 200 steals. Bubb Islander, who retired following the 2313 season, is the all-time leader with 580. 250 W - Beachboy Nut, Nordhagen Beach - It is not going to happen in May, but Nut (5-1, 2.54) is just as good as ever and should reach 250 wins in either June or July based on his current win percentage with just 8 wins to go. Nut is the all-time leader and one of only three players with 200 wins (Derek Green - 220 and Gavin Eviritts - 206). University Point's Tony Bertha is only six wins away from joining the 200 Club, but he is just 1-3 with a 6.30, putting his ability to reach 200 in 2314 in doubt. 2500 K - Digger Vadim, University Point - Vadim (2-3, 4.33) is 21 strikeouts shy of hitting the 2500 mark in his career. Not likely to reach that in two starts, three or four starts in Maty could help Vadim to reach the 2500 mark. Vadim is 4th all-time in strikeouts. His 2500 Ks would join Green of Jamaica Plain (3079), Nut of the Boys (2719), and Sheng Kawolski of Sunshine Tidings (2632).

BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 8 May 2314 CBA Playoffs - Commonwealth Championship: Salem Shadows vs Airport Aviators Game 6: Airport 109 at Salem 98 - Airport Wins Championship, 4-2 Offense was not the key, but the Airport Aviators did just enough on the road to overcome the home Salem Shadows, winning the game, 109-98, and clinching the championship in the first season of the Commonwealth Basketball Association. DA Forte took game MVP honors, contributing 25 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and a block in victory. All five starters scored in double figures with BB Whiteman and Fickle Fitzgerald each scoring 18 to finish behind Forte. Salem jumped out to a 31-22 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and led by as many as 14 points early in the game. However, the Aviators bounced back to take a 54-53 lead heading into halftime. After another dominant quarter, including going up by as much as 12, Airport left the 3rd quarter up 83-73. The Shadows were never again able to get the game within two scores as the Aviators did just enough in the 4th to maintain their large lead. JB Letterhead was the leading scorer for the Shadows, putting up 33 points in 44 minutes of action. Licker Sam Arnold added 22 points along with 24 points and 14 assists, and Jamal Pleick scored 16. Airport is located at the Boston Airport with Easy Town, Nordhagen Beach, and Revere Beach nearby. They get to celebrate one team while their local CBO teams struggle. Salem gave a scare! When they went up 2-0 I was worried for the Aviators, but they just wanted their opponents to have a handicap!

That three-headed monster for Salem of Arnold, Pleick, and Letterhead was crazy consistent, so I am surprised their record wasn't better. I did not check all the logs, but I would assume one or more of them missed some time due to injury. Airport was the better overall team, but that star power in Salem may make them contenders for awhile.

May 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 16 May 2314 CCBL Regular Season Ends; CWU #1 Overall Seed For the lucky few going to the playoffs, the season is just beginning. For most, the postseason is a just a distant pipe dream -- a season that could have been. Their season is over except for the bashing, rehashing and revamping that takes place in the hot stove league. It's now time for the dominant teams to do battle for the 2314 Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League championship. It will be decided in the College Series. Only the best will be left standing. With the playoffs mere hours away, each of the contenders are putting their game faces on. It's time for ballplayers to leave it all on the field. In the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League playoffs, miracles do happen, but most often it's simply the team that plays better baseball that goes home with the prize -- the much-coveted College Series championship. In an unprecedented situation that we feel will not happen consistently, the top six seeds all come from the BCAC. The Sweet 16 starts today with these games: #16 Maine Black Bears (NoComm-1) vs #1 Commonwealth University Terriers (BCAC-1) #9 CIT Engineers (BCAC-7) vs #8 Plymouth University Pioneers (MassCon-2) #12 Westerly Education Academy Owls (SoComm-2) vs #5 Harvard Crimson (BCAC-5) #13 ECSU Warriors (SoComm-3) vs #4 Mass Bay University Beacons (BCAC-4) #14 Revere College Riders (BCAC-8) vs #3 Quincy College Masons (BCAC-3) #11 Assumption Greyhounds (MassCon-3) vs #6 Northeastern Huskies (BCAC-6) #10 Yale Bulldogs (SoComm-1) vs #7 Greenfield College Greenies (MassCon-1) #15 Endicott College Gulls (Independents-1) vs #2 Boston College Eagles (BCAC-2) CYL Regular Season Ends with Saugus, Hope as Top Seeds Close the book on the Commonwealth Youth League regular season. For most of the ballclubs, it's all over except for the crying. Now attention turns to the playoffs. It will be the best against the best to determine the Commonwealth Youth Series champion for 2314. And it all kicks off soon. The all-important second season is about to begin. With a championship to be decided, the Commonwealth Youth League is filled with excitement. There's nothing like the thrill of the playoffs. There will be some career-defining moments played out in the coming days. There will be some heroes, some great plays, some blunders and some failures, but it will be a great time for fans. Playoff baseball is here and it gets underway today. The Opening Round starts today with this slate of games: NR #16 Circle Jerks vs #1 Saugus Launchers #9 Marlborough Minigunners vs #8 Lowell Frags #12 Boston Harbor Harborfellows vs #5 Rockport Seafarers #13 Marblehead Mess vs #4 North Charles Bank Goonies #14 Sturbridge Rangers vs #3 Woburn Diners #11 South Charles Bank Moonies vs #6 Covenant Dandy Boys #10 Manchester Rocketeers vs #7 Beantown Sprouts #15 Beerthirty Sippers vs #2 Needham Radstorm SR #16 Holyoke Mech Dragons vs #1 Hope Firestarters #9 New Bedford Whales vs #8 Coventry Quads #12 North Providence Phantoms vs #5 Collegetown Spirits #13 Spectacle Island Specters vs #4 Andrew Station Southies #14 Sandwich Screamers vs #3 Taunton Giants #11 Pawtucket Paw Sox vs #6 Truro Hatchlings #10 Woodlawn Gnomes vs #7 Dennis Menaces #15 Brockton Claws vs #2 Wellfleet Tarberries

May 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 18 May 2314 CBO Analysis Most teams have played 29% of their 2314 regular season games, so with more than a quarter of the season complete, we are starting to have a better idea of teams that may be buyers and sellers. Quick spoliers: The Slog, Concord, and Vault 81 are most certainly buyers, while Roxbury, Spectacle Island, Sunshine Tidings, and Nahant are most certainly sellers. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) The Slog Ghouls (149.1, o) 2) Vault 81 Dwellers (135.0, o) 3) Concord Radstags (126.1, +) 4) Quincy Gunners (119.9, ++) 5) Lexington Synths (115.9, +) 6) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (113.9, ++) 7) University Point Deathclaws (111.5, ++) 8) Cambridge Coursers (108.2, +) 9) Oberland T-51s (107.9, --) 10) Bunker Hill 75ers (106.2, --) 11) FHE Yao Guai (101.7, ++) 12) Diamond City Swatters (98.5, --) 13) Southie Brews (96.4, -) 14) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (95.5, --) 15) Atom Cats (95.0, +) 16) Salem Witch Hats (93.0, -) 17) Malden Grognaks (90.3, +) 18) Easy Town Assaultrons (72.8, ++) 19) Egret Ninjas (69.9, --) 20) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (66.1, --) 21) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (66.1, o) 22) County Crossing Bloodbugs (62.0, ++) 23) Goodneighbor Hancocks (59.2, +) 24) Nahant Celtics (54.6, ++) 25) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (53.6, o) 26) Starlight Killers (53.2, --) 27) Roxbury Rad Sox (47.9, +) 28) Spectacle Island Reapers (46.9, --) Brotherhood League Not only does The Slog possess the CBO's best record at 29-8, but the Ghouls' 10.5-game lead over Salem in the BL is a larger league lead than any other league's 5th place team. With the Ghouls being the only team above .500, that also helps, but the BL is in the position of having only one team in the playoffs should they start today. After the 19-19 Witch Hats are Malden, Easy Town, Nordhagen Beach, County Crossing, and Nahant. We feel that Salem is the only one of the last six that can make the playoffs based on what we have seen so far. The anomaly team is the Celtics who we had mentioned in past updates as being an early-season surprise after winning the North Charles Association in 2313 and making it all the way to the Nuka Cup Tournament final this preseason. Injuries are not the problem, so performance is. Currently, Nahant is tied for 6th in scoring (183) but 8th in runs allowed (203). Wait a minute. Now something else is off with the team tied for last place in the NCA. Of their 38 games, 24 have been on the road, where they are 5-19. They are also 4-11 in one-run games and 1-3 in extra-inning games. By their Pythagorean record, the Celtics should be 17-21 at worst. That record would put them still in playoff contention, especially with many more home games left to play. We will see if the home record starts to take them back up closer to .500 by midseason. If that is the case, we will call Nahant playoff contenders again. Institute League Where the BL is failing, the IL is thriving with five teams above .500 and would-be occupiers of seeds 2-6 in the playoff race. Only Starlight and Sunshine Tidings are out of contention, both going 2-8 in their last 10 and the Killers on a league-worst seven-game losing streak. Concord is atop the league and just 3.5 back of The Slog. Lexington, Bunker Hill, Cambridge, and Fort Hagen make up the rest of the top five. For the 75ers at four games back, they have to feel that they are in a good spot in 2314. After missing the playoffs in 2313 just two back of the Celtics, Bunker Hill is now in a good position, especially if their output improves. The 75ers are 5th in runs scored (196) and 6th in runs allowed (188), putting them statistically about where they should be in place and record. Rookie 3B Miko Miko (as he goes by professionally now) has been lights out (.370/6/25). LF Kasumi Goto (.328/11/24) has been the power leader for the association's 5th-ranked home run team (54). On the mound, ace Hangman Alley (4-2, 2.83) has been tough to score on, but veteran Jason Tonelli (3-5, 4.58) has struggled some. The bullpen has not been great, but closer Jim Livermore (9 SV, 2.95) has been OK. One additional not about Bunker Hill is that long-time team leader, RF Donny Kowalski, may be done or at least close to it. There has been some rumblings that Bunker Hill is preparing for a sendoff which may include demoting Kowalski to Abernathy of the NEBL. Kowalski, 36, is all over the 75ers leaderboards, including being the team's all-time best in WAR (42.9), games played (1694), at-bats (6084), runs (1035), hits (1760), total bases (3131), singles (1105), doubles (272), triples (tied at 50 with Austin Engill), home runs (333), RBI (1033), walks (712), HBP (70), and strikeouts (929). If he retires, Kowalski's #23 with the Abernathy/Bunker Hill franchise is sure to be retired by the team, too. Minutemen League Quincy has been a hot team and has a solid two-game lead in the ML thanks to an 8-2 mark in their last 10 and a five-game winning streak. University Point trails by two thanks to their own 8-2, six-game winning streak mark. Speaking of the Deathclaws, Barker Cocoa (.348/17/38) is again tearing up CBO pitching and is on pace for a 58-HR season, which would be the third-best all-time. We will feature Cocoa below in the "Noteworthy News" section. Following the Claws are Southie, Atom, Jamaica Plain, Goodneighbor, and Spectacle Island. The Brews are above .500, and the Cats are at .500. The Gunners are an intriguing team to watch right now. With the third-best scoring offense (221 runs scored) and the tied-for-4th-best runs allowed (178) mark, Quincy should be near the top of the standings. Two hitters who have been outstanding are RF Baywatch Fischler (.331/7/25) and LF Doorbell Arg (.349/6/25). On the mound, all of Make Money (2-1, 4.42), Fosdyke Rochambeau (4-2, 3.36), and Stranger Backrubman (3-1, 4.27) have been serviceable as starters. With the CBO's top closer by talent, Professor Harriel (7 SV, 3.10) is currently good compared to other closers in the league. Other than the sheer dominance of University Point's Swampy Tamragouri (10 SV, 0.00), most other closers have an ERA above 3.00. Only seven total closers have an ERA below Harriel's. Railroad League Vault 81 continues to flex its muscles in the RL, going 8-2 in its lat 10 to maintain a four-game lead over 2nd place Glowing Sea and Oberland. Diamond City and FHE are both above .500 with Egret and Roxbury being far below .500. The Sox are tied with the Reapers for the CBO's worst record. The Rad Sox finished 2314 with the SCA's worst record and drafted 3rd overall. The Radscorpions are looking to repeat their 2313 playoff showing, currently sitting 3rd in the SCA standings. With perhaps the best hitting OF in the CBO with CF Enigma Montgomery (.343/5/22/12 SB), RF Naga Arakaki (.299/8/27), and LF Alloy Jordan (.345/0/21), Glowing Sea is 6th in runs scored (199). C Yvuh Jet (.324/9/26) is one of the best hitting catchers in the CBO. They are tied for 4th in runs allowed (178) thanks mostly to the efforts of the top two starters, Cutter Redman (3-0, 2.81) and Hot Lips Houlihan (5-4, 2.96). Closer Pink Floyd (9 SV, 2.12) has performed well. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 11 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Silvam Fourteen was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The scrappy The Slog Ghouls catcher hit .438 while collecting 7 hits in 16 at-bats, 4 home runs and 8 RBIs. During the current season Fourteen is batting at a .375 clip with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs. He has played in 27 games and scored 19 times. 20-year-old Charles Towner sent shock waves through Commonwealth Baseball Organization last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Towner made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .571 average, 12 hits in 21 at-bats, 2 home runs and 12 runs batted in. Where the Diamond City Swatters left fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Towner certainly made his mark last week. Towner is batting .348 this season in 32 games with 8 home runs, 34 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has 40 hits in 115 at-bats. May 18 - All week long nobody could get Brian DeLong out in the North Charles Association and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week. The Salem first baseman took home the trophy by blasting 11 hits in 24 at-bats for a .458 batting average, driving in 12 runs and scoring 10 times. Looking at his season stats, DeLong has compiled a .379 batting average and a .481 on-base percentage, while hitting 14 home runs and driving in 38 runs. It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Doorbell Arg, the Quincy Gunners 22-year-old left fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 10 hits in 22 at-bats, compiling a .455 average with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs. This year, Arg is batting .349 with 6 home runs. CBO Noteworthy News May 17 - "I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact." That's what Barker Cocoa told reporters after he made league history at Hallucigen Stadium at UP. The prolific slugger belted home run #600 in the University Point Deathclaws 11-3 victory over the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets. The standout first baseman collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. "I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Cocoa. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?" Cocoa is hitting at a .355 rate over his 1843-game career. Lifetime he has 367 doubles, 25 triples and 600 home runs with 1615 RBIs and 1719 runs scored.

June 2314
A special THREE-PART June 1 Super Post, just for the CBO and its affiliates on this Monday, June 1, in the year 2314!
News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2314 The June 1 Super Post, Part 1 CBO Analysis It is both time for a Monday update and the first day of the month. That means we will have three articles posted in addition to our friends in Bradberton and Far Harbor posting their June 1 updates. In the CBO, every team has now played 50 or 51 games, putting us at the 40% mark of the season. We have a new king of the hill in Vault 81 (36-15), now a half-game above The Slog for the CBO's top record. Only seven teams have won 30 or more games with three of them coming from one league, the Institute League. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) The Slog Ghouls (129.0, +) 2) Vault 81 Dwellers (128.1, -) 3) University Point Deathclaws (118.4, ++) 4) Cambridge Coursers (108.8, o) 5) Lexington Synths (108.4, o) 6) Quincy Gunners (106.8, o) 7) Concord Radstags (105.9, --) 8) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (103.4, o) 9) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (101.8, ++) 10) Diamond City Swatters (99.8, ++) 11) Bunker Hill 75ers (99.4, -) 12) Oberland T-51s (98.8, +) 13) Atom Cats (98.2, --) 14) FHE Yao Guai (97.2, --) 15) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (90.8, ++) 16) Southie Brews (87.0, -) 17) Easy Town Assaultrons (84.2, o) 18) Salem Witch Hats (82.8, -) 19) Nahant Celtics (75.2, +) 20) Goodneighbor Hancocks (73.6, ++) 21) County Crossing Bloodbugs (71.6, -) 22) Egret Ninjas (71.0, ++) 23) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (67.6, o) 24) Malden Grognaks (67.2, --) 25) Spectacle Island Reapers (67.1, --) 26) Roxbury Rad Sox (62.5, -) 27) Starlight Killers (60.5, -) 28) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (55.9, o) Brotherhood League The Slog is starting to run away with this league. Although they had a bit of a bad start last week to allow Vault 81 to catch up and surpass them, the Ghouls have gone 6-4 in their last 10, helping to pull themselves to an 11.5-game lead over Salem and Nordhagen Beach. The Witch Hats and Party Boys also announced a big trade today with the Boys sending LF Gorgeous DiGiacomo (.310/5/27) to the Hats for two minor leaguers, Pudding Pop and Posky Enchtull. The remaining order of the BL is Easy Town, County Crossing, and a tie for 6th between Malden and Nahant. Salem is appearing that it is looking to put itself in a position to be a 2314 playoff team, though the Hats currently trail the 6th team in the NCA, Fort Hagen but four games. Still, adding an All-Star like DiGiacomo may give them a boost to an offense scoring runs (4th at 270) but struggling in a lot of offensive categories, particularly average where the Hats are 9th (.271). We are not sure where DiGiacomo fits in with LF Jig McGhee (.318/11/26) already doing well, but we will guess that the Witch Hats have a plan. That plan may be looking for pitching help where Salem is 11th in runs allowed (279) mostly because of the bullpen (11th with a 5.96 ERA). Jaa Thirtysix (4-5, 3.84) is doing OK, but he is the only starter with a sub-4.00 ERA. CL Corpulus Vinius (8 SV, 4.32) has one of the best bullpen ERAs, which shows where the Hats are falling short. Institute League The IL has become a suddenly tight and competitive league with five teams within four games of 1st place, all with a one-game difference. The top five are Concord, Lexington, Cambridge, Bunker Hill, and Fort Hagen, which would occupy seeds 2-6 if the playoffs were to start today. Starlight and Sunshine Tidings are competing for the CBO's #1 pick at this point. The Killers were heavy contenders just three years ago, making the playoffs six-straight years with two IL titles, including in 2311. They dropped out, barely missing the playoffs in 2312, and then finished four games below .500 last season. This season, they are not good at 18-33.Starlight is 12th in runs scored (228) and dead last in runs allowed (319), tied with Spectacle Island for the CBO's worst and one of only three teams (Sunshine Tidings) who have allowed 300+ runs. On offense, there are some pieces in place to help, with second-year C Justin Lower (.335/14/40) and rookie RF Sergio Higgins (.369/8/14) making some waves. The pitching is unsalvageable right now with the lowest ERA on the team being 4.26 for RP Gjak Ironbreaker. Ace Lawdog Whipple (1-6, 5.29) is past his prime after being traded from University Point. The Killers need to invest heavily in pitching. Minutemen League Speaking of the dev--deathclaw, University Point has been the CBO's hottest team, surging into 1st place in the ML. The Claws were a CBO-best (tied) 20-8 in May, along with Vault 81. Quincy is just a game back, followed by Atom, Southie, Goodneighbor, Jamaica Plain, and Spectacle Island. The Brews had a great April but a miserable May to drop them to .500. University Point is 3rd in runs scored (284) and 4th in runs allowed (230), so they still have some work to do. But they are good. Of course, Barker Cocoa (.335/20/48) leads the CBO in homers and total bases (133). What may kill the Claws' momentum is the injury to Ziggy Stardust (.341/5/24), ending his 2314 campaign. The top two starters, Digger Vadim (7-3, 3.45) and Tony Bertha (4-4, 3.79) have been doing what it takes to win. The Killers score a lot when Alex Alexson (7-4, 4.54) starts. Closer Swampy Tamragouri (16 SV, 0.00) has been a stellar offseason acquisition. Tamragouri claims he comes from the Swamplands of the South and heard about the CBO. Great addition to the league! But maybe unfair that he was able to sign with the Claws. Spolier: scouts think the 0.00 has been more luck than skill since they rate him as the 3rd-best closer in the CBO based on current scouting. Railroad League Vault 81 has a seven-game lead over Glowing Sea, giving the Dwellers the second-largest lead in the CBO. After the Radscorpions, there is Oberland and Diamond City tied for 3rd, FHE at 5th, Egret, and then Roxbury. The first five teams are above .500, though the Yao Guai would be both if the playoffs began today. The Dwellers are again looking like the CBO's best team, at least, in the regular season. We already know their postseason struggles, which they hope to overcome finally this season. Vault 81 is looking the part statistically, currently 1st in runs scored (313) and five other offensive categories and 2nd in runs allowed (216), including the top Starters ERA (3.70). SS End Yamada (.402/8/39) is currently tops in the CBO in average, WAR (3.8), and hits (72). C Phantom Vargas (.255/11/33) and LF Pockets Wrench (.298/10/39) have been the power leaders. Two starters--Exxie Summerset (7-3, 3.81) and Scruffy Taguchi (7-1, 3.84)--have sub-4.00 ERAs. CL Dynamite Delaney (12 SV, 2.70) has been good with additional support from RPs Healie McGorman (1-1, 1.96) and Brian Bridges (1-0, 2.20). CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 25 - North Charles Association pitchers tried and tried all week long to stop Slammin' Sammy Holloway, but to no avail. His eyes would light up when he came to the plate and he hit everything in sight, batting .500 for the week to win the NCA Player of the Week Award. The Nordhagen Beach third baseman cracked 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 5 home runs, drove in 9 runs and scored 8 times. This year, Holloway is batting .368 with 60 hits and 13 home runs. He has scored 36 times and has batted in 42 runs. Dynamo Bynes demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Egret first baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .650 average (13-for-20) with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. Bynes on the season is batting .363 with 8 home runs. His totals include 29 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has played in 43 games. June 1 - It was announced today by the North Charles Association that Nahant third baseman Diamond Ball had received the Player of the Week Trophy for his superlative play last week. During his week-long batting binge he reeled off a .500 batting average, 10 hits and 3 home runs. Ball also racked up 11 RBIs and scored 5 runs. Ball is currently hitting .326 with 12 home runsand 40 RBIs, while scoring 32 runs. Jay Gabby has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 21-year-old right fielder of the Goodneighbor Hancocks had a hot bat in the South Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors. Gabby batted .583 with 14 hits in 24 at-bats, 3 home runs and 10 RBIs. So far this season, Gabby has 10 home runs and a .320 batting average. CBO Noteworthy News May 21 - Knud Bather said it's time for him to concentrate on "being a father and a husband" after this baseball season. At age 36, the native of Billerica, Massachusetts has announced he will retire from professional baseball. "I want to thank all my teammates, the fans, and the Vault 81 Dwellers organization, but this is it for me," he said. "I've got a lovely family at home I can't wait to spend more time with." Bather has played in 1738 games with a .263 career batting average and 1671 hits. He has also scored 1084 runs and driven in 1075 runs with 355 home runs. May 26 - Sheedy Smith really sizzled at the plate in his team's 19-8 win over the Atom Cats. The Jamaica Plain first baseman blistered Atom for 6 hits in 6 at-bats. The six hits ties a CBO record. It's the first time a player had six hits since Gavin Deux-Gas of The Slog in 2311 and the first time in the SCA since Nickles Czerniewski of Spectacle Island did it in 2305. "Smith was too tough to get out today," the Cats skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too." Sheedy Smith hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Victor Numbclaw in the 9th. Looking at his present stats, Smith has compiled a .357 batting average in 44 games with a .380 on-base percentage, while hitting 8 home runs and driving in 33 runs. May 31 - The box score from yesterday's game will show that Oberland beat the Sunshine Tidings Chemists, 6-3. It will also show that center fielder Earthbound Bussey went 2-for-5 for the T-51s. It will not show, however, that Bussey reached the 2000-hit mark for his career. The 34-year-old Bussey reflected on the achievement after the game. He mused: "In one respect, it's a real milestone, I guess. Yet, it's just a base hit like any other base hit." His all-time numbers show Bussey is carrying a .288 career batting average with 172 home runs and 699 RBIs. June 1 - The rumors are true: Sunshine Tidings reliever Mike Rubric is calling it quits at the end of the year. At 36 years of age, Rubric has put up these numbers in his career: 471 appearances, a 148-143 record in 2479.1 innings, and 1615 strikeouts. He has 7 saves and a career 4.19 ERA. Rubric won 21 games in 2310, one short of the record 22 held but Heaven Fontenot (2311) and Exxie Summerset (2306). CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Brian DeLong battered North Charles Association pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old DeLong told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 27 games, DeLong hit .336 with 12 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 28 runs. DeLong has a .341 average and a .435 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 62 hits, 18 home runs and driven in 48 runs. SCA Hitter - Barker Cocoa may be getting older, but he's evidently not slowing down. The University Point Deathclaws first baseman is the South Charles Association Batter of the Month for May after posting a stellar campaign. Cocoa batted .324, hit 12 home runs, drove in 27 runs, scored 26 times and compiled a .390 on-base percentage. For the year, Cocoa has hit at a .335 clip with 48 RBIs, 20 home runs and 44 runs scored. NCA Pitcher - It was a monstrous May for the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award winner, Lyle Pine of the Lexington Synths. He put up some mighty scary numbers. Pine recorded 5 wins and 1 loss in 7 starts. Throwing a total of 49 innings, he yielded 28 hits, mowed down 33 on strikes, gave up 15 walks and put up a solid ERA of 2.02 in a stellar month on the mound. For the year, Pine has a 6-3 record with a 2.12 ERA in 12 starts. SCA Pitcher - The hottest hurler in the South Charles Association last month was Nien Nunb of the FHE Yao Guai. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the SCA Pitcher of the Month. In May, Nunb starred with an impressive 6-0 record. In 7 starts he gave up 36 base hits and struck out 30 in 47.1 innings with a 2.28 ERA. To this point in the season Nunb has 9 wins and 1 loss and a 3.18 ERA. NCA Rookie - Youngster Sergio Higgins emerged as the latest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Starlight deserved the honor, batting .369 with 8 home runs and 14 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Higgins enjoy the limelight. So far on the season, Higgins is hitting .369 with 8 home runs, 14 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has 24 hits and played in 19 games. SCA Pitcher - Charles Towner's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Diamond City first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .352 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and 9 home runs. Towner also scored 17 times and drove in 32 runs. This season, Towner has hit at a .319 clip with 48 RBIs, 13 home runs and 31 runs scored. CBO's Top Performances Hitter - We mentioned above in Noteworthy News that the Red Rockets' rookie 1B Sheedy Smith (2313's 6th-overall pick) tied a record for hits in a game. That performance in Jamaica Plain's 19-8 win at Atom on May 26 was the top performance of the month and now the season. Smith had a game score of 137, 19 points better than Hax Kim's performance last month. Smith was 6 for 6 with a double, a grand slam, four runs, and eight RBI. The six hits and eight RBI set the Rockets' team record. Pitcher - Pitcher of the Month and the month's top single-game performance, that's Lexington's Lyle Pine. With a game score of 87, Pine did not surpass Sarthis Idren's April performance. However. Pine still had a great game in tying the league low for hits allowed (2) in a complete game. On May 16 against Starlight, Pine pitched the complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while walking two and striking out six in a 14-0 victory for the Synths. CBO Statistical Standouts Average - .402 - SS End Yamada, Vault 81 - Yamada's average may have dropped by .056 points in May, but he still leads the next-best player (Miko Miko) by .030. RBI - 57 - 1B Plain Morris, County Crossing - On his current pace, Morris would finish with 148 RBI which would fall just short of the record 155 set by Barker Cocoa in 2307. Still, Morris is one of only two players with 50 RBI (Thatch Heard). ISO - .427 - 1B Hax Kim, Concord - Kim is on an incredible pace in all of ISO, OPS+ (214), WPA (3.16), and wOBA (.512). At this rate, we put Kim atop the Nuka Hitter Award leaderboard. K/BB - 4.6 - SP Klement Thodberg, The Slog - The acquisition from Southie has a 0.8-point lead over the next-best player. On the season, Thodberg (4-3, 3.44) has struck out 46 and walked 10 in 70.2 IP. WHIP - 0.87 - SP Lyle Pine, Lexington - Pine is the only player with a WHIP below 1.00 in the CBO. He also leads the CBO in rWAR (3.8), BABIP (.189), and Opp. Avg. (.168).

June 2314
News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL
by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2314 The June 1 Super Post, Part 2 NEBL Teams in the MML have played 45 games of their 108-game season, so they are nearing the midway point of the season. Current divisional leaders are the Clifton Vertibirds (Maine), Burlington Feras and Abernathy Adamantium (Vershire), Braintree Robobrains (Mass), and Providence Warlocks (Connri). PL Hitter of the Month - Dan Sturtevant battered Patriot League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around New England Baseball League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 30-year-old Sturtevant told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 25 games, Sturtevant hit .462 with 8 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 19 runs. Looking at his season stats, Sturtevant has compiled a .418 batting average and a .508 on-base percentage, while hitting 12 home runs and driving in 39 runs. YL Hitter - Needham Archers fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in May. Buttons Bunterson put up a remarkable month at the age of 25 and has been named the Yankee League Batter of the Month. For the month, Bunterson hit .370 with 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Bunterson is batting .363 this season in 44 games with 10 home runs, 32 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 61 hits in 168 at-bats. PL Pitcher - Cooch Pace really put his best foot forward in May with 4 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the Patriot League. When he got the start for the Burlington Ferals, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 54.1 innings of work, Pace limited opposing batters to 40 base hits and a .207 batting average. He notched 39 strikeouts, issued 17 walks and had a 1.99 ERA. This season, Pace has compiled a 5-1 record with a 2.47 ERA in 11 starts. YL Pitcher - There was nobody finer on the mound in May and Mike Suerth cruised to the Yankee League Pitcher of the Month award today. He was 4-0 with a 2.44 ERA while piling up 48 strikeouts in 51.2 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .236 batting average. So far this season, Suerth has a 4-1 record with a 3.19 ERA. MML Since the MMLand NEBL both follow the old CBO's 108-game schedule, the MML teams have also played 45 games. Current divisional leaders are the Watertown Armorers (Boggs), Littleton Ragers (Murtagh), Pawtucket Pips (Williams), and Bridgeport Gulchers and Newton Behemoths (Yastrzemski). LL Hitter of the Month - Marblehead Grenades fans believe they've got a talented young star in Squall Gunblade. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .333 with 17 home runs, 35 RBIs and 22 runs scored. The end result was the right fielder being named the Legends League Batter of the Month. Gunblade is batting .308 with 23 home runs and 47 RBIs this season. SL Hitter - At only 21 years of age, Larry Fab could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Suffolk County Pink Goo, as May was one to remember for the third baseman and he has captured the Stars League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .379 with 15 home runs, 26 RBIs and 33 runs scored. This year, Fab has hit at a .367 pace and produced 46 RBIs, 24 home runs and scored 48 runs. LL Pitcher - Dimman Dillon dazzled opponents on his way to the Legends League Pitcher of the Month award for May. Posting a 5-0 record and a 1.42 ERA, the Littleton Ragers starter held opposing hitters to a .226 batting average while striking out 37 in 50.2 innings and giving up 16 walks. This season, Dillon has gone 5-2 with an ERA of 2.47, posting 48 strikeouts in 69.1 innings. SL Pitcher - Capping off a whirlwind month in which he went 7-0 with a 3.20 ERA, Kid Boots Appling was selected as May's Stars League Pitcher of the Month today. Reporters caught up with the elated Hull starter as he left the clubhouse. "I know it's difficult for pitchers -- when you have a bad start or two, people start wondering if you've lost it. Then you ride stretches like this one for all you can. You find it easier to come to the park every day because know you're contributing to the club, not just waiting for your turn in the rotation to make up for your last start." Kid Boots Appling definitely contributed to the club. He had 7 starts, throwing 56.1 innings, striking out 42, and holding the opposition to a .240 average. For this year, Appling has chalked up 8 wins and 2 losses in 11 starts with 64 strikeouts in 79.1 innings and a 4.20 ERA. BMU The BMU has reached its halfway point, having played 49 off their 88-game schedule. The BMU is also on its All-Star Break with the game being played tomorrow. We will list the All-Star roster below. As far as divisional leaders are concerned, leaders are the Lynn Woods Bloatflies (Dark Hollow Pond), Union Hope Lifegivers (Cambridge), Hingham AntAgonizers (Downtown Boston), and Greater Mass Vans (Glowing Sea). CA Hitter of the Month - Duzint Getboring may be much younger than other hitters in the Commonwealth Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in May to win the Batter of the Month award. The 20-year-old Rocky Narrows right fielder hit .341 with 13 home runs, 32 RBIs and 29 runs scored. For the year, Getboring is batting .349 with 24 home runs. MA Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Boston Minor Union, Eddie Furnace put up some good numbers in May and earned the MA Batter of the Month award. He was one of Greater Mass's offensive leaders with a .474 average in 19 games. He also racked up 15 home runs, 35 RBIs, and 27 runs scored. For the season, Furnace has hit .474 with 15 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has played in 19 games and scored 27 times. CA Pitcher - When the Bloatflies skipper wrote Doo on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in May he took command and usually got the win. He dominated with a 6-0 mark and 2.36 ERA in 7 starts. The gifted Bloatflies star pitched 49.2 innings, fanned 57 and held opposing teams to a .201 average. For his excellent mound work Doo was named the CA Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. This season, Doo has compiled a 6-2 mark with a 3.96 ERA. MA Pitcher - Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Ro Rowe of the DB Tech Nuclear Physicists. He captured the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in May. Rowe started 7 games, threw 47.1 innings, yielded 34 hits and logged a 5-0 record. He put down 49 batters on strikes, walked 19 and compiled a 2.09 ERA. Opposing teams batted .194 against him. Thus far this season, Rowe has posted a 7-0 record, started 12 games, struck out 78 batters in 76.1 innings and compiled a 2.59 ERA. Half of the season has been played and now it's time for the All-Star game! It's a game where the fans will get to see their favorite players compete on the same field together, a game where the players themselves become fans and all of baseball comes together to celebrate one of the great traditions of the game -- the Boston Minor Union All-Star game. The Commonwealth Association and the Massachusetts Association will come together today to decide the title of the best league for this season. Leaders are the Coastal Cottage Buds (Northeast), Fiddler's Green T-60s (Northwest), Woonsocket Orphans (Southeast), and New Britain Oceanics (Southwest). The Greenwich Grays (36-13) are currently on a 10-game winning streak, moving them to just four back of the Oceanics. NL Hitter of the Month - Hot Stuff Arrow has a lot going for him. The Corvega first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the North League has just picked him as its top hitter for May. In 27 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .392 with 17 home runs, 29 RBIs and 25 runs scored. Hitting .295 to date, Arrow has 21 home runs and 39 RBIs. He has played in 46 games. SL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 21 Lance Tinter has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young New Britain Oceanics star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the South League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .436 average with 18 home runs, 29 RBIs and 41 runs scored. Currently Tinter is batting .404 with 65 hits and 29 home runs. He has knocked in 46 runs and scored 62 times. NL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award in May has been selected and the North League honor went to Brattleboro hurler, Franklin Hammond. For his excellent performance he has been named the league's top pitcher. During the month, Hammond was superb with a 1.80 ERA and 5 wins and no losses. In 45 innings he struck out 50 and gave up 37 hits and 15 walks. In 12 starts this year, Hammond has recorded a 7-2 record and a 2.61 ERA. SL Pitcher - The South League scribes have picked May's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Vault Boy Barnette of New Britain. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 7-0 mark. The Oceanics star hurler made 8 starts with a 2.44 ERA and surrendered 36 hits in 51.2 innings. He struck out 63 and walked 26. For the year, Barnette has compiled a 9-1 record with a 2.35 ERA. What's the best league? The North League or the South League? The answer will be found in the Greater Boston Rookie League All-Star Game. All the votes have been counted and tabulated, all the players have been selected, and they will decide the question on the baseball diamond. Scheduled to play for the North League All-Stars are: SP Doonan Carr (BEAN) - 5-1, 3.37 ERA, 66.2 IP, 1.02 WHIP, 12.1 K/9, 2.0 WAR SP Brandon Gissendaner (VEGA) - 5-2, 2.95 ERA, 79.1 IP, 1.08 WHIP, 9.0 K/9, 3.1 WAR SP Franklin Hammond (BRAT) - 7-2, 2.61 ERA, 79.1 IP, 1.22 WHIP, 10.3 K/9, 3.1 WAR SP Bullets Leew (FGRN) - 5-2, 2.48 ERA, 54.1 IP, 1.42 WHIP, 11.9 K/9, 2.1 WAR SP Happy McConnelly (VEGA) - 5-1, 1.63 ERA, 49.2 IP, 1.27 WHIP, 9.6 K/9, 1.3 WAR SP Steve Sandcastle (BRAT) - 6-3, 3.41 ERA, 71.1 IP, 1.47 WHIP, 11.5 K/9, 2.9 WAR RP Tymian Crenshaw (FGRN) - 3-0, 4.32 ERA, 41.2 IP, 1.39 WHIP, 13.4 K/9, 0.9 WAR RP Street Rock Dillon (BEAN) - 5-0, 4.25 ERA, 36.0 IP, 1.39 WHIP, 13.2 K/9, 0.6 WAR RP Axe Lopez (FGRN) - 1-3, 4.06 ERA, 37.2 IP, 1.73 WHIP, 11.0 K/9, 1.3 WAR RP Flex Neale (SP) - 1-1, 3.29 ERA, 27.1 IP, 1.10 WHIP, 13.8 K/9, 1.1 WAR RP Crev Votek (BRUN) - 3-1, 3.95 ERA, 41.0 IP, 1.32 WHIP, 12.7 K/9, 0.9 WAR C Marcus Brinson (BRUN) - .288/.432/.626, 139 AB, 12 HR, 2 SB, 143 wRC+, 1.8 WAR C Eeyore Medicman (PORT) - .257/.406/.513, 113 AB, 8 HR, 121 wRC+, 1.0 WAR C Uri Natepenny (CMAN) - .244/.407/.661, 127 AB, 17 HR, 146 wRC+, 1.5 WAR C Kare Santoyan (AUG) - .282/.428/.565, 131 AB, 10 HR, 4 SB, 131 wRC+, 1.4 WAR 1B Hot Stuff Arrow (VEGA) - .295/.423/.818, 132 AB, 21 HR, 1 SB, 179 wRC+, 1.8 WAR 1B Jess Fowl (CoCot) - .299/.433/.732, 127 AB, 16 HR, 167 wRC+, 1.5 WAR 2B Tuft Davis (BEAN) - .427/.560/.979, 96 AB, 16 HR, 256 wRC+, 3.0 WAR 2B Dylan Swann (CoCot) - .365/.524/.776, 156 AB, 16 HR, 10 SB, 206 wRC+, 3.3 WAR SS Oliver Butte DaCrying (SP) - .353/.471/.624, 85 AB, 4 HR, 1 SB, 168 wRC+, 1.0 WAR SS Wally Jukebox (FGRN) - .406/.524/.699, 133 AB, 9 HR, 195 wRC+, 2.1 WAR SS Gutty O'Flaherty (AUG) - .286/.368/.750, 168 AB, 22 HR, 4 SB, 146 wRC+, 1.6 WAR SS Franky Yet (SWCH) - .305/.430/.619, 105 AB, 8 HR, 3 SB, 149 wRC+, 0.7 WAR LF Jimmie Dimmick (CoCot) - .250/.404/.892, 120 AB, 25 HR, 2 SB, 171 wRC+, 1.1 WAR LF Tom Harkness (CMAN) - .382/.559/.719, 89 AB, 6 HR, 210 wRC+, 2.0 WAR CF Cal Drogo (NUKX) - .263/.374/.695, 118 AB, 15 HR, 138 wRC+, 1.5 WAR CF Stack McKnight (CMAN) - .356/.519/.729, 118 AB, 10 HR, 198 wRC+, 2.1 WAR CF Nobumori Okuda (SAT) - .339/.429/.661, 115 AB, 9 HR, 154 wRC+, 1.2 WAR CF Boomerang Perez (DI) - .389/.450/.667, 72 AB, 5 HR, 1 SB, 170 wRC+, 0.8 WAR RF Ivan Paylor (CMAN) - .280/.382/.703, 175 AB, 19 HR, 2 SB, 146 wRC+, 1.6 WAR The South League All-Stars will feature these players: SP Vault Boy Barnette (NB) - 9-1, 2.29 ERA, 66.2 IP, 1.11 WHIP, 10.9 K/9, 3.5 WAR SP Teeny Brooker (RP) - 3-1, 2.50 ERA, 39.2 IP, 1.46 WHIP, 11.6 K/9, 1.2 WAR SP Khalil Dominator (CUMB) - 3-2, 3.56 ERA, 48.0 IP, 1.12 WHIP, 13.7 K/9, 1.9 WAR SP Pallet Martel (NOR) - 6-1, 2.00 ERA, 67.1 IP, 1.05 WHIP, 11.9 K/9, 2.5 WAR SP Scooter Sandbrick (PP) - 4-5, 3.48 ERA, 64.2 IP, 1.48 WHIP, 11.7 K/9, 1.2 WAR SP Lucedes Windwhip (DAN) - 6-3, 2.45 ERA, 91.2 IP, 1.16 WHIP, 9.6 K/9, 3.5 WAR RP Robert Johnson (RP) - 1-1, 4.18 ERA, 28.0 IP, 1.57 WHIP, 8.0 K/9, -0.0 WAR RP Doody Kershaw (PP) - 0-2, 4.50 ERA, 30.0 IP, 1.77 WHIP, 11.1 K/9, 0.2 WAR RP Evan Mister (WATR) - 2-1, 3.62 ERA, 27.1 IP, 1.39 WHIP, 10.9 K/9, 0.4 WAR RP Gust Tellemundo (CAB) - 0-1, 3.25 ERA, 27.2 IP, 1.48 WHIP, 9.1 K/9, 0.2 WAR RP Elmer Valley (BJHN) - 2-2, 4.36 ERA, 33.0 IP, 1.52 WHIP, 10.4 K/9, 0.8 WAR C Wade Hobbes (WATR) - .209/.257/.424, 139 AB, 10 HR, 50 wRC+, -0.1 WAR C McCall Homealone (GRN) - .191/.287/.493, 136 AB, 12 HR, 70 wRC+, 0.0 WAR C Cliff Romanov (CUMB) - .267/.411/.644, 45 AB, 5 HR, 138 wRC+, 0.4 WAR 1B Gearóid Carr (BJHN) - .384/.487/.727, 99 AB, 10 HR, 187 wRC+, 1.2 WAR 1B Phil Curnew (WOON) - .408/.548/1.014, 71 AB, 13 HR, 253 wRC+, 1.9 WAR 1B Thedford Hideaway (MURK) - .308/.443/.664, 146 AB, 13 HR, 1 SB, 158 wRC+, 1.2 WAR 1B Sheen Johnson (WATR) - .413/.551/.698, 126 AB, 10 HR, 3 SB, 206 wRC+, 2.5 WAR 1B Keepuh Knockin (NB) - .429/.622/.990, 98 AB, 14 HR, 268 wRC+, 3.4 WAR 2B Icheb Brunal (NOR) - .317/.421/.842, 101 AB, 16 HR, 184 wRC+, 1.7 WAR 3B Tony Roberson (STAM) - .276/.429/.494, 156 AB, 9 HR, 5 SB, 130 wRC+, 1.1 WAR 3B Moonface J. June 2314
News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL
by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2314 The June 1 Super Post, Part 3 CCBL Playoffs Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better. It was the latter case in 2314, as the Commonwealth University Terriers topped the Boston College Eagles 6-5 tonight at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond to win the College Series. It was the 1st title in franchise history. "When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Commonwealth University second baseman Jalen Taylor, who was named series MVP. The Terriers took the series 3-1. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the BCAC and a 43-17 record. Commonwealth University manager Damian Chapman grinned and nodded when asked to comment on Taylor's words. "Jalen said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said. Hometown officials announced they were already planning a "grand celebration" for the winners in the days to come. CYL Playoffs It's party time in Needham. The confetti is flying and residents are smiling. The Needham Radstorm have reached the mountaintop, capturing the 2314 Commonwealth Youth Series today. They defeated the New Bedford Whales 8-5 at Rosemary Lake Field to officially wrap up the series 2-1. Asked how it feels to be a champion, left fielder Khalil Hebron was to the point. "It feels great, like a million bucks. I'm so happy right now, not just for me but for all the guys," he said. "We put a lot of work into this and deserve to be champions." The team is planning a victory parade and fan appreciation day later in the week. Needham finished the regular season 33-17 and claimed first place in the North Region Benjamin Franklin Division.

Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 June 2314 Wild, Cherry Hold Early Leads We are just over the quarter mark of the 2314 season with the Wild Gatorclaws and Cherry Ghoulrillas leading the way in the North Bradberton and South Bradberton divisions. The Gatorclaws (17-7), which won the Nuka Series in 2313, is a game up on the Victory Cave Crickets, PAM's choice to be the division winner. Cherry (14-10) is up by four games on Quartz and Dark. Orange (9-15), the predicted South Bradberton Division winner, is in last place and tied with Quantum for the CBO's worst record. Tick Garrett of the Cherry Ghoulrillas had a field day with Nuka World League pitchers last month and was crowned the Batter of the Month as a result. During May he compiled a .423 batting average, drove in 30 runs and scored 19 times. He also managed to pick up 8 walks to post a .454 on-base percentage. The Nuka World League announced today that Mucky Timmons has been chosen the league's Pitcher of the Month. The Victory starter had everything working for him last month as he glided to a 4-1 record. In May Timmons chalked up a 1.05 ERA in 43 innings with 36 strikeouts and 7 walks. Victory's A-Train Gilmore collected 24 hits to snare the Nuka World League Rookie of the Month for May. He batted .270 with 8 home runs, 15 RBIs and 19 runs scored. The 21-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace. He was a 2nd-round pick by the Egret Ninjas of the CBO in 2309. In the APL. the Nuka Bottling Plant Pack (12-3) and Grandchester Flying Ants (9-6) are leaders in the North and South divisions, respectively. The Pack are on a seven-game winning streak, while the Flying Ants are on a five-game winning streak. Beau Ring certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the APL Batter of the Month award for May. The 20-year-old left fielder for the Dunmore Ferris Wheels hit .358 with 5 home runs, 10 RBIs and 13 runs scored. Fire Phil Bush really strutted his stuff in May with 3 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Amusement Park League. The Red Rocket starter was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 27.1 innings of work, Bush limited opposing batters to 23 base hits and a .235 batting average. He totaled 18 strikeouts, issued 5 walks and had a 1.65 ERA. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 1 June 2314 All A's at the Apex The Eden Meadows Anglers lead the the Fog Division, and the Acadia Acadians lead the Harbor Division, putting two of the three Vim! League 'A' teams at the top. the Grand Hotel Atoms are in last place in the Harbor Division. The Anglers were the 2313 Vim! Series and Season Pass Series champions. Eden Meadows defeated the Acadians in the Vim! Series. Both teams made their first Vim! Series last season. Chris Knickerbocker is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Echo Lake left fielder joined that select company when the Vim! League announced the results of May's voting. Knickerbocker totaled 41 hits, 5 walks, 8 home runs, 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored last month to put together a .432 batting average and .455 on-base percentage. May's top hurler was Steady Mike Holmes of Eden Meadows. He shackled Vim! League hitters the entire month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award with a sparkling 4-0 mark. The 29-year-old Holmes added 31 strikeouts in 50.2 innings and 14 walks to his season record and compiled a 2.13 ERA. Other clubs hit .229 against him. Jaylin Fox strung a bunch of high quality starts together in May to earn the Vim! League Rookie of the Month trophy. For the month of May the 23-year-old Fox recorded a 4-1 won-lost mark with a 3.99 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 47.1 innings. In the Mount Desert Island League, the Brooke's Head Lights and MS Azalea Shipwrecks are leaders of the Small Bertha and Old Longfellow divisions, respectively. Dyl Pickle made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Mount Desert Island League this past month. The MS Azalea Shipwrecks left fielder shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old hit .322 with 7 home runs, 13 RBIs and 13 runs scored. In May when the Kitteredge manager wrote the name "Plows" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Caramel Plows took the hill, took charge and usually got the win. He dominated with a 3-1 mark and 0.79 ERA in 4 starts. The gifted Rad Rabbits star pitched 34 innings, fanned 22 and held opposing teams to a .194 average. For his outstanding mound performance Plows was named the MDIL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

June 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 3 June 2314 BMU All-Star Game During the star-studded affair, the 2314 Commonwealth Association All-Stars defeated the Massachusetts Association All-Stars by a score of 9-3. The fans in attendance at Joe Cronin Memorial Field certainly enjoyed the show, seeing the best that the game had to offer. Chief among the stars was Rhys Brown, who led the Commonwealth Association to victory. Brown, a member of the Lynn Woods Bloatflies (Easy Town), went 2 for 3 with a double, a home run, a run, and an RBI. "I will admit I was nervous out there. To share a field with such incredible players is always a humbling experience. But after the first couple pitches, you just have to ignore the talent out there and focus on your game," Brown commented as he accepted his award after the game. Brown was a 2313 4th Round pick by the Assautrons out of Holy Cross College. GBRL All-Star Game Clean Blake Dean shined brightly tonight against the best talent that the GBRL has to offer. The Woonsocket Orphans' (Lexington) right fielder was named MVP for the annual mid-season showcase held at West Haven Stadium, as his South League All-Stars downed the North League All-Stars by a count of 8-6. "It's humbling to even play in a game like this with legends of the sport all around you," he said. Dean went 3 for 5 to capture the honor. Dean's all-time stats include: 182 hits, 36 doubles, 4 triples, 64 home runs and 155 RBIs in 167 games. He is batting .354 with 3 stolen bases and has scored 129 runs. He was a 2311 2nd-round pick by Lexington out of Brockton of the CYL.

Well that looks like it could be fun! I'm sure there will be some separation as the season goes on, but always love when OOTP gives tight divisional races like this
