Annandale Coasts to OL S373 Crown
The Atom Smashers closed out their OL schedule with a 17-8 month. Lemp Ave. closed strong, going 13-2, but the hill was too big for them to climb. In PT play, OL is well represented, but with Cleveland and Keystone facing off in the divisional round, there will be, at most, only three going to gold, with two assured.

Gold 315
Port Ruppert Mundys are your OL Gold champions. They never really let up and won easily despite a strong finish by the Nowhere Men. They also had MVP Eddie Collins who led the league in stolen bases (125) and OBP (.427). He had .890 OPS while being an incredibly efficient fielder with a big (5) range. Brooklyn Dynasty's Ed Walsh gets the Cy Young award. There were lots of deserving candidates but Walsh's 22-7 record with 2.31 ERA, 229 Ks and 1.07 WHIP stood out. He only gave 0.3 HRs per inning pitched.
Port Ruppert, Brooklyn, Nowhere, and Algoma will be heading to the playoffs. Waffletown was in the race but had trouble with OL teams down the stretch. HelthWyzer, Las Vegas, and New York will be heading back to Silver. |

Vida Blue, Roberto Clemente Take Home Honors in OL S373
I like the Quinta idea of individual awards, so I've picked a batter and a pitcher for OL S373. If anybody has a better case for another winner in either case, let me know.
Roberto Clemente of Sonara High wins the first ever Bennie Kauff Memorial Award as the MVP. Clemente hit .339 with 17 HR and 107 RBI. He was on the lPT leadeer board in numerous categogies and led the Broncs to a fourth place finish in OL. I've renamed the award as the Bennie Kauff award, Kauff, whose full name was Bennie Michael Kauff, was nicknamed the "Ty Cobb of the Federal League," when he was the leading hitter for both seasons of the renegade loop. Though I knew of his Federal League exploits, when I checked Wikipedia to see how he did in MLB, I found there was more to his story. He was a solid major league player, but he ran afoul of Kenesaw Landis, the vile and vindictive commissioner. Kauff faced a trial for an auto theft, and was suspended, pending the outcome. Though it turned out to have been a misunderstanding, and Kauff was acquitted in less than an hour, Landis made the ban permanent and subjected Bennie to vituperative claims of guilt. I did not know this story before I had thought of naming the award for Kauff, but it certainly convinced me to have his name replace Landis'. As for the Denton True award, Vida Blue was the absolute ace of the Annadale crown-winning staff, going 25-4, with a 2.20 ERA. I assume that you already know that Cy Young's actual given name is Denton True Young. It just seemed facile to rename it as such, since it seems a little weird to have Cy Young in competition for the Cy Young. |

Bronze
Inland Empire comes back and - yes, I’m going to say it — Wrangles the title away from West Burlington in OL B333. Key to the comeback was the Wranglers taking 3 of 4 from the Farmhands in late September. In addition to taking the OL trophy, Inland Empire also overtook the Farmhands for the AC East flag.
Shinbone’s Oscar Charleston was named the OL’s best hitter. Charleston batted .332 with 29 HR and 92 RBI for the Stars. His .558 slugging and 9.9 WAR both led the league. West Burlington’s Smoky Joe Wood was named best pitcher. Wood was 23-8 for the Farmhands. |

I have been suggesting a PT card for him fairly regularly. Also, I have suggested that OOTP add the Federal League, since there is a healthy amount of stats available for them. Hey, Wrigley Field was built for the Chicago Wolves. |

That does it for now...
Alrighty then, until we start getting some PT playoff results, I'm checking out. Since tomorrow is a holiday, Jason, I'll try to get to putting the teams in so you'll only have to fix my mistakes.Good luck to those still playing.

Particularly as an old hockey guy, it does not surprise that I mixed up the names. Thankfully, I have also reached a sufficient level of majority that it doesn't make me fear for my mental capabilities when it happens. I don't worry about it in the least. That's for those young guys in their 50's.

League Set Up for 2068
All team movement is set and we should have four crowns to win next season. In PT, Port Ruppert is playing Algoma for a spot in the gold World Series, while Nowe3here is still in it from the National. In silver, Keystone is in the conference finals from the American, hoping to take on the winner of the Sonora High-Annadale match up in the World Series. Shoebox is in the AC finals in bronze, while Bluffton is still going in the NC finals. Hartford is still going in iron. We actually have a shot at three all-OL Series. Good luck to all. I'll be back later, hopefully to hand out hardware.
The set up: Diamond - Paxville, Knockemstiff, Cary, Nowhere, Algoma, Port Ruppert Gold - Waffletown, Silly, Seattle, Coney Island, Sugar Hill, Babel, Annandale, Keystone, Shoebox, Brooklyn Silver - HelthWyzer, Las Vegas, New York, Gear Terrace, South Holland, Asylum, Gettysburg, Baltimore, Route 66, Lemp Ave., Cleveland, Otsego Lake, Bluffton, Shoebox, Shinbone, Inland Empire Bronze - Daytona Beach, Asheboro, Sunday, San Francisco, Terra Incognita, Left Coast, Boston, Iron Maiden, West Burlington, Boulder City, Hartford Iron - Lumberton Feel free to check your list and submit.
