Wow! Shows what I know!
Guess I have to root for Quincy now, though the Slog are really good. Really thought it would be them and Vault 81. Could go either way, but I like the momentum Quincy brings to the series. Dethroning the top team in your association can be a nice boost |

Sometimes good teams falter in the playoffs. I really thought, though, that Vault 81's team would be one to eliminate all doubt. When they dropped Game 1 to Quincy, I said, "Uh oh" aloud.

Sole Survivor Series 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 26 September 2314 Sole Survivor Series 2314: The Slog Ghouls vs Quincy Gunners Game Results: 1 and 2 Game 1: The Slog 2, Quincy 1 Sole Survivor Series Game 1 Victory for Perez and The Slog The Sole Survivor Series got off to a quiet start, with the host The Slog Ghouls taking a low-scoring, 2-1 win over the Quincy Gunners. The Slog left-hander Flirt Perez was marvelous at Tarberry Field Forever. The Ghouls now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. In his 102-pitch effort, Perez allowed no runs on 3 hits over 7 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 11. Orlando Bransford pitched the final two innings to earn the save, allowing one earned run on a hit with a walk and three strikeouts. "Flirt pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said The Slog manager Nate Pugh. Kilometers Davis and Silvam Fourteen each knocked in a run. Quincy's Will Hell tried to put some park in the offense in the 9th, hitting a solo home run, but it was not enough to overcome the Ghouls' pitching performance. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tarberry Field Forever in The Slog. Game 2: The Slog 4, Quincy 3, 10 inn. DaWell, Ghouls Take Dramatic Game 2 for 2-0 Series Lead Behind the big bat of first baseman Baktu DaWell, the The Slog Ghouls have opened up a healthy early lead in the Sole Survivor Series. The Ghouls topped the Quincy Gunners, 4-3, at Tarberry Field Forever in Game 2, and now hold a 2-0 edge in the best-of-7 series. DaWell was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once to power The Slog to victory. The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the tenth. With The Slog trailing 3-2, DaWell hit a fastball from Wick Prater for a 2-run single. In the blink of an eye, the Ghouls had a walk-off win. "We did a lot of things right," said DaWell. The intensity of the 10th inning was already in full throttle from the top of the inning. With the game tied, 2-2, Kinsella Birdwatcher led off with a walk off RP Austen Austin. Desert Dog Swift singled and then Bruce Timmons flew out. Alchemist Hall then hit an RBI single for the 3-2 lead. Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at The Stone House in Quincy.

Sole Survivor Series 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 30 September 2314 Sole Survivor Series 2314: The Slog Ghouls vs Quincy Gunners Game Results: 3, 4, and 5 Game 3: Quincy 8, The Slog 6 Hell Blasts Ghouls, Gunners Take Game 3, 8-6 The Quincy Gunners have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading The Slog Ghouls, winning, 8-6, at The Stone House. Gunners second baseman Will Hell was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The win cuts the deficit facing the Gunners to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Sole Survivor Series. A key moment came with one out in the bottom of the fifth. That's when Hell hit a fastball from Klement Thodberg for a 3-run home run, putting Quincy up, 6-2. "We ground out the win," said Hell. "That's all that matters." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Stone House in Quincy. Game 4: The Slog 9, Quincy 7 Almost There: The Slog On Cusp of Sole Survivor Series Triumph After 9-7 Win Riding the 2-hit performance of catcher Silvam Fourteen, the The Slog Ghouls got a road win against the Quincy Gunners, 9-7, in Game 4 of the Sole Survivor Series. Fourteen slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Ghouls, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1. A key moment came with no one out in the top of the ninth. That's when Fourteen hit a slider from Wick Prater for a 2-run home run, putting The Slog up, 9-6. "It was a solid team effort," said Fourteen after the game. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Stone House in Quincy. Game 5: The Slog 8, Quincy 6 Ghouls Beat Gunners in Sole Survivor Series With an 8-6 win over the Quincy Gunners tonight at The Stone House, the The Slog Ghouls wrapped up their 2nd title in team history and first official Sole Survivor Series championship. The Slog left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Ghouls celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said The Slog manager Nate Pugh. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." Heading into the top of the 6th, the Ghouls trailed Quincy 5-0. Then, a combination of poor defense and pitching with timely hitting turned the game around. With Fosdyke Rochambeau on the mound for the Gunners, Silvam Fourteen reached on an error to start the inning. Rich Verdu singled and then Bill Lazarus reached on a dropped fly ball in LF to load the bases. Rochambeau then walked Shirt Fowler to make it 5-1. With one out, Puddle Norman and Baktu DaWell hit back-to-back RBI singles to make it 5-3 Quincy. After President Washington walked to cut the lead to 5-4, Professor Harriel came in. Cyper Raige answered that change with a bases-clearing, three-RBI double, giving The Slog its first lead, 7-5. Fourteen walked, and then Rich Verdu reached on a single and advanced on an error with Raige scoring on the hit. That made it 8-5. Quincy would never have another chance to take the lead. The Gunners' Will Hell was both Game MVP and Series MVP despite his team dropping 4 out of 5 in the Sole Survivor Series. In Game 5, Hell was 3 for 5 with a home run, his 5th of the series, two runs, and two RBI. In the series, Hell was 9 for 22 (.409) with five home runs, a walk, eight runs, and 10 RBI. A jovial mood filled the air as The Slog celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works. "We're going to celebrate our team, our championship The Slog Ghouls," the mayor said. The champions completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League and a 84-46 record. CBO Playoff Tree The Slog Team Picture

What a 6th inning in game five! Only time the Slog came out and it's all they needed. Still can't believe Vault 81 isn't celebrating right now.
Separately, are you able to post the total title count? I feel like there's still a good chunk of non expansion teams still looking for #1 |

Despite it only going five games, the series was actually one of all tight games (one or two-run differences), so Quincy just missed in making this a deeper series or outright winning it. For the champions and Sole Survivor Series history: Ten teams have won the 17 official championships (2298-2314) with only four multi-championship teams. Right now, Oberland is the only team to have lost multiple SSSs (two) without winning one. Well, they did win it in 2297, but it doesn't count in the official championship list now. Easy Town, and then the last three runners-up--Vault 81, Nahant, and Quincy--are the other four teams to have made it to the Sole Survivor Series but never won. So, there is still a long list of SSS "virgins" that are not the four expansion teams. The complete list of those never there are Cambridge, Concord, Egret, FHE, Glowing Sea, Jamaica Plain, Lexington, Malden, Salem, Southie, Spectacle Island (Warwick), Starlight, and Sunshine Tidings.

StLee's Note:
I believe my gaming laptop is beginning to reach its final decline. Most days, it crawls to life, and I cannot get it up to temperature most times I have started it in the last several weeks. Trying to jump into Fallout 4 for some inspiration has been frustrating as the framerate crawls. Because of that potential to lose my laptop, which I also use as my main laptop for doing my work since it typically functions better than the stripped down work laptop I have, I am going to take the time to back up everything I have for this league. That includes the save file (backed up on an external hard drive and about to be backed up to a cloud, too), all word and image files, and anything else that I will need to get this running on either this laptop repaired or a new laptop. I am also thinking of purchasing a desktop again for my home computer, something I have not had in nearly 20 years. Do they have wireless desktops that are "good" for the internet these days? I have no capability of running a wire from the router all the way to my home office, so I need wireless. If there are good, functional options, I may go that route instead. I always found desktops to be more stable. What does that mean for the CBO? Well, it is intended to continue on. I have plans for adding 20+ more youth league teams and 10+ colleges for the 2315 season. I also have plans to explore more of what that new domed stadium being built in Far Harbor is all about. There is a lot of prep. I am also in one of those peak busy times at work, so I may only be able to carve out some time on the weekends when the family is not getting out of the house. Hopefully, we can see some nicer weather days in March for outdoors events, including my hope to check out some college games in the area. In the meantime, I will try to get my laptop running well enough again for both work and play.

What is cool though is how all the "original" teams have made the playoffs at least twice, and most four or more. Glad you're getting everything backed up though ahead of time. Selfishly I never want this to end! Better be cautious now. I lost one of my old dynasties when one of my old laptops went out. Worst part is I knew it was on it's last leg, but it was one of those "oh I'll do it tomorrow" type things and then it was too late. Wish I had advice on the desktop situation, need to eventually get one myself, as they're just so much more stable. And if you like to game it makes such a big difference I'm with you on the weather though. I was at a Vandy baseball game yesterday and it was in the 40s with wind chill in the 20s. Going again tomorrow and while it should be nicer, I'm still a bit nervous. Worth it for baseball I always say, but I'm ready for it to start feeling like spring again! |

![]() ![]() I live in the Raleigh area now, so I hope to catch a little of all three of the Research Triangle teams if possible, if not all by this year, at least by next year. I have been at a February game in Baton Rouge before where the temperature was freezing. I cannot remember which of the California schools it was against (Cal-Fullerton, Long Beach State, or a team in that field of usually pretty good), but that particular low-scoring game went to extra innings with LSU walking it off on a solo bomb in the bottom of the 10th.

One of my favorite Vandy games I went to was against LSU! I like both teams so it was awesome! Got to see Dylan Crews and Spencer Jones and as a prospect guy that was awesome. The 21-10 loss, not so much, but Crews hit a monster homer, Jones hit two, and Brayden Jobert drove in a LSU record 9 runs. He hit two homers, I think one was a grand slam, but both teams were pounding the ball and then an 11 run inning ended it |

October 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 October 2314 The October 1 Super Thread, Part 1 CBO Expansion - An Investigative Report on a Possible Far Harbor Move Yeah, we said it. Expansion. I mean, there has been no doubt that two locations have had some recent activity. A call to a sister, some teamwork in investigative journalism, and one of the owners in the CBO has been granted permission to share what we suspected: the CBO is moving on up. Specific details are not there, but construction beginning in Far Harbor for a domed stadium started speculation that something was up with the CBO. For those here in the Boston area not familiar with coastal Maine, Far Harbor gets frequent bouts of irradiated fog that encompasses the entirety of Mount Desert Island, where Far Harbor is, at times. A domed stadium would help with some of the workarounds the Vim! League uses, which are these giant machines that drive the fog away from an immediate area. When those machines break down, Vim! League games are delayed or canceled. So, residents of Far Harbor and all of Mount Desert Island now know that there is CBO money pouring into the Vim! League baseball. But the major question is how? How will the CBO manage the sheer time travel it takes to move a team of players by boat to get to Far Harbor? That's not even counting how long it would take if part two of our speculation would happen. Before we reveal part two, let's hear from an anonymous executive in the league. "Far Harbor is not an option because the infrastructure to play there is not currently there," the executive said. "It would take a full 24 hours or more for a team to travel there. The Far Harbor team would never be in a good situation and no one would want to play there." OK, so why is the CBO investing in a stadium there? Would that not indicate there are plans? Well, let's look at our other independent league, the Nuka World League. Out in Bradberton, John-Caleb Bradberton and gang are also beginning a construction project just east of Kiddie Kingdom that is supposed to be the next great park in the area. Supposedly expected to be a sports experience all to its own, the Bradberton-area park would be a great and convenient location for a CBO team. In fact, the current contract prevents that from being a reality. In the future? Let's ask the executive. "Nuka World is a totally different beast," he said. "The NWL is not very profitable, but a CBO team there? It would be more than its money worth by the sheer number of people streaming in there from Boston to ride some rides and watch baseball. We should put two teams out there instead of any team in Far Harbor, if you ask me. There is also the case of four higher education institutions being founded in the Far Harbor area. Acadia College is already a member of the Northern Commonwealth Conference in the CCBL. Both the College of the Atlantic and Vim! College are expected to join the NCC soon. Another institution was founded just this year, Atom University, which plans to start offering classes as early as July of 2315. It has also petitioned for membership in the CCBL. Reports of "rivalry series" in the college ranks has been brought up. Also, any CCBL teams there would be a part of the CBO, which could make sense. That CBO owner is, of course, my sister, FHE owner Piper Wright. She could share that expansion has been brought up as a possibility but there was no discussion of Far Harbor. The most prominent places have been population centers and areas mostly free of large factions of raiders and other hostile factors. Some places that would fit that description without her direct answers would be Bradberton, Cape Cod, and Providence. There are also closer hubs to the north, like Portland, Maine. It still has issues here and there, but they have gotten much better in recent years. This story does not have a timeline when an expansion announcement would come up. We would guess at least three years in advance, so we would guess 2318 as the first possibility. In the meantime, huge swaths of talented players have been flooding the CCBL, so people in Far Harbor will get to see plenty of future CBO players through CCBL games. CCBL Expansion Speaking of the CCBL, 10 more teams have joined the league, including the beginning of the Atlantic Sound Conference as a new auto-bid conference in the league. The Atlantic Sound will take three current independents in Bridgeport, Endicott College, and Mass Maritime Academy. The three teams joining both the CCBL and ASC will be the Naval War College Mariners, Quinnipiac Bobcats, and Sacred Heart Pioneers. Four institutions are joining the Northern Commonwealth Conference this season, taking their league number to eight teams. Joining the conference in 2315 are the New Hampshire State (NHSU) Giants, Southern New Hapmsphire (SNHU) Penmen, Vermont Catamounts, and Vermont Tech Maples. Three independents will also join: American International Yellow Jackets, Franklin Pierce Ravens, and Nichols College Bison. Conference alignments below the CBO transactions. October 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 October 2314 The October 1 Super Thread, Part 2 CBO Draft Preview The 2314 Draft is just over a month away, so we are going to update update you three times in preparation for the draft. Today's quest is to identify the "CBO-ready" prospects, or the prospects we expect to start in the CBO or spend some time in it in 2315. 1. SS Evan Keel, Tufts University - Keel is one of those guys that would have been setting records in the CYL if he were in the Boston-area before he began playing youth baseball. As a college player, he enters the draft as one of the more intriguing prospects. On defense, he is elite and is good enough today to play defense at SS in the CBO. The question will be hitting, where he saw his production drop over his three seasons with the Jumbos. There were some injuries in 2314, but he saw his home run production dfrop from 20 in his freshman season to just 8 his junior season. His batting average also dropped from .337 to .293. Scouts think that those low production numbers were no big thing and expect him to mature into a power hitter at some point. Where they know he can thrive on offense is an eye that recognizes pitches well. We have little doubt that he will be the #1 overall pick. 2. 1B Jets Freud, Tufts University - Why was Tufts not the champions in 2314? With perhaps the two top picks in the draft, you would think so, yet they finished 26-34 and missed the postseason altogether. Well, Freud was not the problem, hitting .378 on the season with 12 home runs. He also missed some time (1/6 of the season), so there's that. Scouts see Freud as an elite power hitter who can knock base hits and find his way on base. While he is projected at 1B, Freud can be a fill-in at either corner OF position. 3. 2B Honker Trinkl, Boston College - From two players that missed the playoffs to the runners-up, Trinkl was a leader on a good Eagles team. Trinkl batted .371 on the season with 12 home runs. Scouts like his power just as much as Freud with the expectation that he could be a .333/30/75 type player in time. His defense could use some work, but he is a middle-of-the-lineup guy probably by the time he is 23 or 24. \ 4. 2B Stud Colgan, Assumption University - Colgan is a well-balanced player who is very good at everything. Scouts have noticed that the majority of his homers were on fastballs, meaning he needs some more work generating power on off-speed pitches. That does not mean he cannot send those pitches screaming into a gap. He may never challenge for batting titles, but he will be a huge contributor to his team's offensive output. Colgan will also be one of the better defensive infielders in the draft. 5. Five closers: Hulk Martin, Greenfiueld College; Sniper O'Reilly, Boston College; D.C. Washington, Northeastern University; Neeshagh Raggett, Tufts University; and Redmond Brooks, CIT - All five pitchers will probably go in the 3rd round or later, but all five have the current skills that could see them getting a call up as early as 2315. Martin is the best of the five, leaving college with the Greenies with 36 saves and a 1.31 ERA in 75.1 innings pitched over three seasons. CCBL Future Expansion The CCBL has entered into a plan to add around 10 teams per season for at least five seasons, meaning the pool of teams in the CCBL is expected to grow. We already mentioned the teams joining in 2315, but we also have the complete list of teams planned to join through at least 2320. According to reports, even more higher education institutions could join the league by as early as 2318 if they meet the January 1 application deadline. Those deadlines are for three years in advance. Below is a data dump of teams known to be joining the CCBL from 2316-2320: 2316 Southern Maine Whalers, New England Nor'easterners, College of the Atlantic Black Flies, Vim! College Captains, UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs, Bridgewater State Bears, Central Connecticut State (CCSU) Blue Devils, New Haven Chargers, Fitchburg State Falcons, Salem State Vikings, Roxbury College Tigers, Post Eagles, Framingham State Rams, and Bryant Bulldogs 2317 Westfield State Owls, Western Connecticut State (WCSU) Wolves, Worcester State Lancers, Bentley Falcons, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Trailblazers, Worcester Poly Institute (WPI) Engineers, Bay Path Wolves 2318 Babson Beavers, Portland Engineering College (PEC) Robotists, U of Maine-Presque Isle Owls, Salve Regina Seahawks, Albertus Magnus Falcons, and Hellenic American University Greeks 2319 Maine Maritime Academy Mariners, Rivier Raiders, Elms College Blazers, and Lesley Lynx 2320 Norwich Patriots, Emerson College Lions, Johnson & Wales Wildcats, Bowdoin College Polar Bears, Brotherhood Military Academy Steelers, Husson Eagles, and Olin College of Engineering (OCE) Phoenix As may be noticed, the CBO has also relaxed the repeated mascot rule within certain situations, which now includes the CCBL and CYL. Therefore, pre-War institutions can maintain their original mascots. One notable team in the CCBL that changed its mascot was the University of Connecticut which was known as the Huskies pre-War but changed to the Yankees in the CCBL. As of this report, UConn wanted to remain as the Yankees. Other teams have decided to have duplicate team mascots, keeping their pre-War logos. CYL Expansion The CYL also had a large expansion, adding 24 teams throughout the six-state Commonwealth. There were also two new divisions added: the H,W, Longfellow Division of the North Region and the John-Caleb Bradberton Division of the South Region. Here is a list in divisional standings order of the new teams and their assigned divisions: Boxford Packers (Emerson) Seabrook Radstorm Chasers (DuBois) Hampton Tailors (DuBois) Portsmouth Canners (DuBois) Derry Farmers (DuBois) Nashua Zoologists (DuBois) Kittery Skippers (Longfellow) Far Harbor Dockdwllers (Longfellow) Great Diamond Anglers (Longfellow) Lewiston Raiders (Longfellow) Bangor Wolves (Longfellow) Portland Trappers (Longfellow) South Portland Guns (Longfellow) Augusta Moose (Longfellow) Barrington Chess Knights (Adams) Johnston Sluggers (Adams) Scituate Racers (Alcott) Lakeville Noobs (Morse) Putnam Swordsmen (Hancock) Norwich Cobblers (Hancock) New London Poppers (Hancock) Bristol Medics (Hancock) Foster Stealers (Hancock) Meriden Tinkers (Hancock) Sherwood Manor Sasquatch (Hancock) Forest Park Brahmiluffs (Bradberton) Hadley Falls Reactors (Bradberton) Northampton Beaneaters (Bradberton) Several teams also changed divisions to better match the geographical makeup of each team. Complete divisional alignments are below.

I was about to give up again on my Jekyll & Hyde laptop. Today it is working again. I took the time to move my save file to another lesser laptop I have but somehow the team changes didn't take place. Maybe I transferred the backup instead of the current save. Since that laptop is even slower than the one I am currently typing on, I will ride this one until it dies, I suppose. Going to transfer the whole save file every month in case it does. I am also going to move my Excel file back to the cloud.

CBA Preview
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 15 October 2314 CBA Preview 2314-2315 The second Commonwealth Basketball Association will be under way this weekend when the Southie Jammers meet the Boston Bugles on October 17. Last season, the Airport Aviators defeated the Salem Shadows, 4 games to 2, to claim the championship. This season, we put PAM on it to determine who would raise the trophy at the end of the season. Here are the predicted standings: NCC 1. Cambridge Tigers 2. Salem Shadows 3. Con-Lex Bolts 4. Medford Irish The Tigers are led by the 1-2 punch of PF Kareem Rieck and PG Jeryl Newman. They will be joined this year by the #1 overall pick, PF Sniper Armstrong, who will probably play a 6th-man role, at least to start the 2314-2315 season. C Armand Penn joins the team this season hoping to boost his production in the middle. Last season, Cambridge finished 31-41 and missed the playoffs. SCC 1. Boston Bugles 2. Southie Jammers 3. Airport Aviators 4. Quincy Ironclads Pam is also picking another team that missed the playoffs in the first season to win its conference, choosing the Bugles to finish atop the South. Boston was 34-38 last season, landing them in 4th place in a good conference a season ago. With whom many believe to be the CBA's best player, C Tre Davis, leading the charge, there are big expectations for the Bugles. While no other player stands out statistically, all five starters averaged double digits, and the also have another 10+-point scorer on the bench in SF Marquel Minigunner. Rookie PF RaShawn Bergmann should contribute on offense and the boards, though he is expected to back up Max Effort Alt at the 4. Prediction PAM sees the Tigers taking the crown, winning the championship over Boston in six games. CBA's MVP Watch In the 2314-2315 race to be MVP, PAM sees five players as the best bets to win the award: Tre Davis; C Licker Sam Arnold, Salem; C DA Forte, Airport; PG Reggie Pacer, Quincy; and PG JB Letterhead, Salem. Last season's MVP was a surprise pick in Southie's Vee Tsankov. He was a surprise pick because Boston's Davis had won nearly all monthly awards despite his team not making the playoffs. Voters decided making the playoffs mattered more than dominance by a player. CBA's Top Rookie Watch We also have a preview of the Top 5 rookies heading into the 2314-2315 season. Armstrong of Cambridge listed above is the top rookie prospect. Other top prospects include SF Book Smart Denson, Con-Lex; PF RaShawn Bergmann, Boston; PF Camera Cook, Quincy, and SG Cameron Minor, Medford.

October 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 18 October 2314 CBO Draft Preview Last time, we took a look at the players most likely to make early CBO debuts. Now let's take a look at the younguns and which ones have the greatest outlook for a long CBO career. We have 11 players wer are sure will be wearing a CBO uniform within the next five years. 1. 1B Size Man Green, West Quincy - An actual versatile infielder, Green could step into any position on the infield, though scouts believe his most natural position to be 1B. The difference is that Green is not the power-hitting player that most people think of at the position. What he can do is hit, and scouts believe he could regularly hit .333 in the CBO. He can also swipe bases and has more range than the typical first baseman, giving him extra opportunities for putouts. 2. CF Chani Zendaya, CIT Academy - A pure outfielder, Zendaya may settle into a corner OF position later in his career, but for now he is a speedy outfielder with a lot of upside that could see him as the first CYL player called up from the 2314 class. A hard worker, Zendaya has good speed and a sweet swing that will help him get on base a lot. He could use a little more work on his patience at the plate, but mistakes get punished for doubles and triples. 3. 1B Sluggo Luge, Spectacle Island - The all-time CYL leader in home runs (127), nine more than the previous career leader, Tobias Hoffman now of Atom, Luge is the premier power hitter of the 2314 draft and should see his name called early in the 1st round. Luge is expected at his peak to regularly hit .325/40 as one of the top hitters with an effective, easy swing packed with muscle. He can also play either corner IF position well, but will probably slot in at 1B depending on his team's needs. 4. 1B Jam Armchase, Sudbury - The power-hitting lefty is most likely to play 1B, though he could play some corner OF. Not on the same level as Luge, Armchase also finished with over 100 career home runs (105 to rank him 9th all-time and 3rd of this class behind Luge and Nope Ankor). Scouts see his ceiling as a multiple all-star candidate. 5. 1B Andy Musicsheets, Concord - Musicsheets may be a 2B in the majors, but he is set to be slotted in at 1B at first as he needs to work some on his glove and being consistent. As a hitter, Musicsheets is a good all-around hitter, with power being his greatest asset. Scouts also believe he could be a player making multiple all-star appearances. 6. 3B Kevin Fawke, Lynn Pier - Fawke was a consistent hitter, finishing with a .329 career average, 77 home runs, and 170 RBI. Scouts like both his bat and defensive skills. While he is not going to be the top defender nor hitter, he is expected to be a contributor to his team. 7. 3B Merlin Hodges, Diamond City - We are not sure why Hodges is graded as a 3B when his probable position is SS, but there he is. A talented defender with a golden arm, Hodges would be successful at anything he chooses to do. He did see a huge drop in power output, from a career high 31 home runs in 2312 to just six in 2314. The season got shorter by 20 games, but about 20 home runs would have been better. That drop will probably drop Hodges in the draft, but he is still talented. 8. 1B Fuzz Copman, Castle - One of seven 1B on this list, Copman could get lost in the draft shuffle since his skills are not quite as impressive as some of the others featured here. What he does have is consistency in both his contact and power, making him the type of player who will gradually move through the different minor leagues and could see a 2319 (assumed) debut with his chosen team. 9. 1B Dodge Squallbender, Freeplat - Squallbender hit 31 home runs his freshman year and then never reached that number in total his final three seasons (6, 16, and 11). He was a backup in 2312 but started the last two seasons, still not finding his power swing enough. Scouts are concerned about how he misses a lot of bad pitches, but he can also punish bad pitches. If he hits his potential, he could consistently be a .300/30 hitter. 10. SP Paul Bird, Circle - As the only pitcher on this list, Bird could expect his name called relatively early in the draft, especially with how many teams need a pitcher. Bird has four pitches he consistently and effectively uses, but hi changeup and cutter are considered his best pitches. He is a strikeout specialist, something missing these days in the CBO, with 515 strikeouts in 391.0 innings pitched in his career. Thos 515 Ks are not quite as good as another Paul, Paul Stains now of Salem, but Bird is 23rd all-time on the strikeouts list and 11th all-time in K/9 (11.85). 11. 1B Nope Ankor, Beerthirty - As mentioned above, Ankor is another power hitter and is one of the CYL's all-time homers leader. He struggles with contact, though, which will probably drop him out of the 1st round at least. Ankor batted just .193 his junior season, making cuts question his future in baseball. That number rebounded to .292 his senior season, not an elite number but something to work with. Ankor is among the slowest on the base paths, and his defense is nothing to write home about. He will play 1B because he can hit and because he would be a detriment to any other spot on the field. CYL Season and Career Records We mentioned some of the records and all-time leaders. Here is the complete list of records.

![]() Basketball as imperfect as a lot of things surrounding it happen to be is indeed back! I would love to fix the schedule, but I already tried getting into the nuts and bolts of the program and only messed up my league. Therefore, for now, a team will always play 0 in October and 20+ in the last month of the season. The November Super Thread coming...

For his spectacular campaign, the Bunker Hill 75ers star has been named the 2314 North Charles Association Nuka-Hitter Award recipient. "To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the third baseman. On the season he compiled a .405 batting average to go with a .485 on-base percentage. His winning campaign featured a .370 batting average and a .442 on-base percentage this year. In 124 games he piled up 173 hits, 33 doubles, 6 triples, 24 home runs, 87 RBIs and 96 runs scored. Pitcher Award for 2314 has been presented and the North Charles Association winner is Lyle Pine of Lexington. "It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Pine. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Synths star told reporters. Pine excelled with an impressive 16-8 record in 32 starts. In 198 innings he yielded 141 hits and 71 walks, while striking out 130 and compiling a fine 3.00 ERA. He received 26 first place votes out of a possible 28. The Vault 81 mound mainstay garnered the most votes and has been named the SCA Vim! Pitcher Award honoree. The Dwellers star dominated his opposition, finishing with 22 wins, 5 losses and a 2.96 ERA. In 32 starts he worked a total of 215.2 innings, striking out 143, while walking 61. Other clubs managed to hit only .226 against him. He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 28. Pugh's face turned to surprise as the club's owner made the hasty announcement. "Wow... how lucky can a guy be? Manage a great bunch of guys... have great fans... have a great season... and now this... life don't get any better than this." The Slog fans applauded, recognizing how fortunate they were to have Pugh at the helm. Both fans and players in attendance toasted their skipper as they truly enjoyed the day. 2314 was an extra-special season for Pugh as he piloted the The Slog Ghouls to a 84-46 record and a first place spot in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League standings. A record good enough to win the 2314 Manager of the Year Award. SCA Manager - The Vault 81 Dwellers coaching staff broke out the bubbly when Manager Drac Jaskula was announced as 2314 South Charles Association Manager of the Year. He skippered the Dwellers to a 95-35 record this year and a first place finish in the South Charles Association Railroad League. To a man, they all agreed that their boss was most deserving of the award. All had glowing words to say about this year's winning manager. "He just has a way with people. Coaches and players alike love him." NCA Rookie - Rookies are supposed to be seen, but not heard. But that wasn't the case with Bunker Hill's Miko Miko. He spoke up loudly and often this season on his way to winning the North Charles Association Red Rocket Rookie Award for 2314. To be accurate, the 21-year-old third baseman let his performance do the talking. In his debut season Miko piled up some good stats, hitting .405, driving in 83 runs and scoring 77 times, while playing in 121 games. The 75ers newcomer also had 27 doubles, 2 triples and 18 home runs. He received 28 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Lexington Synths reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2314 North Charles Association Fallon's Reliever Award. "I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Norton, Massachusetts native said. For the season, Kim had 37 saves in 55 relief appearances, which totaled 58. He fanned 58 betters, while walking 40 and put up a record of 4-2 to go with his 2.33 ERA. He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 28. Crazylegs Jones of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud finished second in voting with 9 first place votes, while Penn Teller of the Concord Radstags finished third with 3 first place votes. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Hunter Kim - Lexington Synths - 16 - 116 Crazylegs Jones - Fort Hagen Silver Shroud - 9 - 84 Penn Teller - Concord Radstags - 3 - 52 SCA Reliever - He may only be 25, but Lippy Lyonne of the Atom Cats has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the South Charles Association. The reliever was today named the SCA Fallon's Reliever Award winner for 2314. He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up no saves in 50 relief appearances and 42 strikeouts in 62.2 innings. He had a record of 11-1 to go with his 2.01 ERA. He received 19 first place votes out of a possible 28. Pink Floyd of the Glowing Sea Radscorpions finished second in voting with 9 first place votes, while Agnet Skinner of the FHE Yao Guai finished third. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Lippy Lyonne - Atom Cats - 19 - 119 Pink Floyd - Glowing Sea Radscorpions - 9 - 102 Agnet Skinner - FHE Yao Guai - 0 - 18 Dynamite Delaney - Vault 81 Dwellers - 0 - 12 Ryan Roberson - FHE Yao Guai - 0 - 1 NCA Defenders - Defense is a critical element in the game of baseball. Many times late in the game, a light-hitting defensive specialist will be inserted in place of a superstar hitter. Good defenders are worth their weight in gold and today the best of them for 2314 have been recognized. These players will receive the North Charles Association Corvega Top Defender Award: Pitcher Eugene Gym (Sunshine Tidings Chemists) Catcher Clownie Blammo (Cambridge Coursers) First Baseman Lone Wolf Leo Gamma-Ray (Sunshine Tidings Chemists) Second Baseman Peter Pan Calvillo (Salem Witch Hats) Third Baseman Miko Miko (Bunker Hill 75ers) Shortstop G.B. Means (Malden Grognaks) Left Fielder Campy Madrid (Lexington Synths) Center Fielder Bill Lazarus (The Slog Ghouls) Right Fielder Cypher Raige (The Slog Ghouls) SCA Defenders - On the defensive side of the game pitchers always get the glory, but the best pitchers know their success hinges on the gloves behind them. The defensive dream team in the South Charles Association for 2314 has been announced, and the Corvega Top Defender Award trophies will be presented to these outstanding fielders: Pitcher Exxie Summerset (Vault 81 Dwellers) Catcher McCoy McIntyre (FHE Yao Guai) First Baseman Duncan MacCready (FHE Yao Guai) Second Baseman Odd Todd Walker (Oberland T-51s) Third Baseman Tre' Morgueman (Jamaica Plain Red Rockets) Shortstop End Yamada (Vault 81 Dwellers) Left Fielder Brother Ray Robinson (Goodneighbor Hancocks) Center Fielder Adrian Worthmuch (Roxbury Rad Sox) Right Fielder Candy Kline (Atom Cats) CBO Draft Preview The 2314 Rookie Draft is just three days away, so we are going to reveal OSA's final mock draft, as well as give coverage to a few players in that list that we have not yet covered. Surprisingly, Tufts University SS Evan Keel, a player we expect to start his career in the CBO, is not expected to go #1 overall. That player is a rising player on scouts' lists, 1B Fuzz Copman of the Castle Freedom of the CYL. We had him as our 8th-best of the CYL prospects, but the scouts think that Sunshine Tidings may target him as the first overall pick. Of the players we covered so far, 12 of them are picked in the 1st Round. However, there are quite a few players we have not covered, including five in the Top 12 predicted picks. We will cover those five below. 1. 5th overall - 1B Devin Pipkin, Ipswich (CYL) - The young Pipkin is considered a great prospect, though he needs more development than some of the other 1B prospects. Scouts like his plus power potential and consider him a solid enough defensive player to be valuable for a team. 2. 7th overall - SS Greenie Jamison, Northeastern U - Jamison does not get the hype that Evan Keel does, but he is still a good baseball player. On defense, he can almost play anywhere, but is valuable as a decent shortstop. He's not the fastest runner, but he is good at extending bases and gets the occasional stolen base. Scouts are worried about his contact potential which makes him a surprise to be this high on the mock draft list, but he can hit for power and some of the average may follow. He finished his CCBL career with a .329 average, so scouts may not have that right from combine work. 3. 10th overall - 2B Hawkeye Dawson, Sturbridge U - The Mighty Men joined the CCBL this season, and Dawson got all the feedback he needed to declare as a junior. Dawson batted .362 with 11 home runs and 47 RBI for his team. Scouts think his hitting could be dynamic, but his power stands out the most from his skillset. Due to good range but a questionable arm, he will probably stay at 2B at the next level. 4. 11th overall - CF Leaky Lou Biert, Harvard - Two straight Crimson players are predicted at the top of the 1st round with Biert the first picked. Scouts see Biert settling in at LF in the minors since he is not the swiftest of runners, meaning he will not get to many of the balls he needs to at the next level. We makes up for his lack of speed, though, with a good knack for where the ball will land and a glove that swallows up any fly ball or line drive near him. He also is good at getting on base either with a string of base hits or being patient for wilder pitchers. 5. 12th overall - 2B Lateral Booth, Harvard - Booth has tons of potential but needs to show productivity at the next level. If he reaches his potential, he will be one of the better for-average hitters and among the OBP kings. He is good at beating throws and is always willing to steal a base. He also possesses great range in the middle of the infield and could play either SS or 2B, though he seems more comfortable at 2B. Pitchers seem to be low priorities in this draft with only five predicted to be taken in the first four rounds, including SP Paul Bird, whom we covered, picked to be the 13th overall pick. Then there are two picked in the 3rd round and two more in the 4th. Let's cover them, too. 1. 3rd Rd, Pick 4 - SP Alex Mazique, Maine U - With just one year of work in the CCBL due to Maine joining last season, Mazique only had 15 starts, compiling a 6-6 record and 5.88 ERA. Scouts think he could have used an extra year, but he declared following his junior season. Scouts see his ceiling as a second starter with his command being his strong suit. Of his four pitches, his changeup can fool good hitters, but he needs to work better on getting hitters to miss more. 2. 3rd Rd, Pick 23 - SP Torcan Frawley, Boston Coll - Frawley saw his ERA jump up to 4.22 his junior season after a 3.41 mark his sophomore year, but he is still considered a talented two-way player who can play SS, too. He finished his three years with a .325/26/83 mark. Scouts value him more as a pitcher, though, with a four-pitch arsenal, including a pitch he has mastered, the cutter. 3. 4th Rd, Pick 4 - SP Chad OJ, Brown (CYL) - OJ was looking like a top pick until an injury derailed part of his junior season, and he looked to recover in his senior season. He dipped from exiting his junior season with a 5-4, 1.91 mark to a 4-6, 5.16 senior season. Scouts think he is closer to the junior season than senior season, though, teams will monitor his body condition. Scouts also think that OJ needs to put a lot of work into his changeup and sinker or he may be designated a reliever at the next level. 4. 4th Rd, Pick 26 - SP Reptile Kimbell, Sturbridge (CYL) - Scouts are not particularly high on Kimbell but do think he could work his way up to a 3rd or 4th starter in a rotation. He has four decent pitches with his best currently his slider and splitter. His splitter is the pitch scouts like best, thinking it could be his money pitch. CBA Analysis The first half-month of the season is complete, with Boston playing a league-high five games and Cambridge yet to take the court for an official basketball game as part of a training regimen. The Bugles have not only played the most, but they have won the most, going 4-1 to start the season. Boston defeated the Southie Jammers (1-3) to open the season, 141-109, including a 29-point, 17-rebound effort by C Tre Davis. Salem currently leads the NCC at 3-0, joining the Bugles as the only teams currently with a winning record. The Shadows defeated Boston, 122-110 when they played just three days ago. Here are the current standings: Current stats leaders are listed below. PG Reggie Pacer of Quincy is the leading scorer at 32.3, but the big news coming out of the Ironclads' camp is that Pacer has caused problems for the team and they may be looking to move him. We have no idea what kind of trade would work to get rid of one of the CBA's stars, but we would love to speculate. First, let's look at the leaderboard: If Pacer would be traded, we could see Boston sending PG Beau Chatman (15.6 PPG) and SF Release Progin (13.2 PPG) to get him. That would give Boston another dynamic scorer and give SF Max Effort Alt a chance to get more playing time on his third team in just two seasons.

November 2314
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, CYL, and CBA by Nat Wright-Kawolski 6 November 2314 CBO Draft The 2314 CBO Draft has commenced, and the scouts were correct in the #1 overall pick. 1B Fuzz Copman of the CYL's Castle Freedom is the first pick by Sunshine Tidings. Copman is the first #1 overall pick by Sunshine Tidings. Their previous highest pick was the 2nd-overall pick, Baktu DaWell, now of the champions, The Slog. Our #1 overall prospect, SS Evan Keel of Tufts was the #2 pick, going to Nahant. Keel was followed by SP Paul Bird of Circle (Sperctacle Island), 2B Honker Trinkl of (Roxbury), and 1B Size Man Green of (Jamaica Plain). While pitchers were not rated high there were still runs on pitchers. The Rad Sox used their 2nd through 5th Roud picks on pitchers: CL Hulk Martin, SP Torcan Frawley, SP Eagle Butt, and SP Shadow Pile. There were no real surprises early since the draft is most certainly top-heavy, especially at fielding positions. According to OSA scouts, every 1st-round player selected is expected to make it to the CBO, at least for a cup of Joe. The first player that OSA scouts rated as borderline at best to make the CBO did not come until the 3rd round when Southie selected SP Skinny Popmaize with the 14th pick of the round. Scouts believe he will be a AAA starter or RP ceiling at the next level. A few interesting later picks include: 9th - #28 - Vault 81 - RF Crowball Myles, Circle - Myles is considered to be a complete player with the bat, cleats, and glove. Scouts see him as capable of being a premier left fielder, meaning he is a 9th-round steal. He may be the steal of the draft, but there are some in the double-digit rounds scouts also liked. 10th - #17 - Salem - 1B Black Helmet Fruegaarten - Fruegaarten saw his senior season power numbers take a large dip in his senior year, sending him way down the prospect rankings. Scouts think that he can develop into a good all-around hitter, though they are concerned about his patience at the plate. He is considered a player with a decent glove who will probably play 1B but could slip into 2B. 12th - #1 - Sunshine Tidings, LF Hjalfar Sailor - Sailor is a potential plus-power prospect, but that may be the major thing going for him. While he could develop into a decent player, his path to the CBO is in hitting home runs. Scouts think that could happen. 14th - #9 - Goodneighbor - 2B Shaq McNeal - Scouts are split on his prospects. For those who see him making the CBO, McNeal has great contact and can move along the base paths with ease. He also is a great defensive infielder who can play any of the four spots well. Mr. Irrelevant With the 560th and final pick of the draft, the Vault 81 Dwellers selected RP Tarberry Pie of Cape Cod University. In two years as a reliever for the Sharks, Pie was 2-0 with a 4.68 ERA in 32.2 innings.
