The Mad Brewers are officially done with OOTP 22. I'll leave the OL tag and I'm sure I'll even check in sometimes but real life is about to get in the way.
It's been a good season. See everyone with OOTP 23.

Silver
HelthWyzer has another big day, despite getting swept by Route 66 in a 3-game set. Seattle has much work to do if it plans to challenge the Crakes.
In a side note, the S303 All-Star game was interesting for how uninteresting it was. Thirteen of the 22 OL teams are in the AC, which took a 11-0 shellacking in the no-contest contest. Johnny Cueto, losing pitcher for the AC and a middle relief pitcher on Sonora's staff(!), was inexplicably the 2nd pitcher in for the AC side, and promptly gave up 4 runs, not making it out of the 2nd inning. He was relieved by Waffleton's Greg Maddux, who coughed up 2 more. There are a number of OL teams in danger of relegation this season, as the drift towards lower tiers of play continues. |

As the annual spring ritual of PT-Suck plays out, I am strongly considering transitioning all my teams to specific themes, dumping all non-relevant players, and accepting the inevitable fall to lower PT tiers. My teams have never been built to be more than Silver in the first place, so now it's just a matter of deciding on an appropriate theme for each team. Of course, they will all stay OL-compliant.

I'm working on Magus-like levels of pessimism here watching my bunch this season.... looking like I'll end up with the second best record in the entire league and only get a wild card out of it; so I'll most likely get bounced in a 1-and-done game to stick with the theme

Crown Chase Centers on Coney with Winless Warriors in the Way for both Contenders
Five games in the shadow of the Cyclone will determine the G 322 crown winner, as first Cary, with a pair of games, and Algoma,in for three, visit Kings County to take on the hapless Warriors to end the OL season. The Southpaws invade first, and will need help from Coney Island no matter how their series ends up. The Penguins, at 6-1, will wrap things up with a pair of wins. A single victory would suffice for Algoma if Cary were to lose their two. If the Warriors were to win all five, the Southpaws would top the Penguins.

There was a lot of movement within the top five, but HelthWyzer remains in front in OL S303. A big month for Waffletown as they move into second and a big 3-game set against the Crakes late this month gives the Syrups a shot at wresting the title away.

It is not just that you get the WC matchup that bothers me with having the 2nd best record in these situations, it is also that you face the best team in the DS if win that wild card as well.

yeah, that's definitely a double dose of the doldrums, cause if you win the wild card, you end up facing the top team in the league in the LDS so one of you is staying at Silver regardless of what happens.... those are the breaks sometimes been an entertaining season nonethelessedit: spent the day at the beach today to let the work week blow away in the breeze, so haven't been looking at PT at all today.... now that I've logged in, I'm kinda wishing I didn't, cause I probably just jinxed my bunch (21 game winning streak going on right now with a 20-0 record for September... so an extended losing streak to finish the year and finishing 1 game back of the division lead is probably in order) Last edited by stl jason; 03-05-2022 at 07:49 PM. |

been playing PT since the inaugural run in v19, and I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever had a team go undefeated for an entire month (the pessimist in me says this only sets things up for an epic collapse in the playoffs, so perhaps another one of those "win the first two then get reverse swept in the last three" type of LDS runs) |

No great excitement this week as Knockemstiff cruised to the crown (with a little help from Paxvlle).
The Shiners were well clear with the 5th best run diff, but couldn't quite join the Kings in the playoffs. With only 9 teams finishing below .500, and also only 9 with a negative run diff, Nowhere were very unlucky to be relegated. Silly not so much, but I'm still scratching my head at their record. The Kauff award is simple again, with Nowhere's Hank Aaron swatting 38 homers and knocking in 118 runs. Seriously, he's out-slugged Knockemstiff's Babe Ruth in almost every season that they've been up against each other! The True award was more complicated to decide. Paxville's Randy Johnson had an incredible 21-4 record (as 4th starter), and their Pedro had the highest WAR. But Knockemstiff's Pedro led the league in innings, complete games, quality starts, ERA+ and rWAR, so he gets my vote. Good luck to everyone hunting silverware later! |

Penguins Grab Gold Crown
Algoma took care of business early, wrapping up the crown by besting Coney Island in their first two games to clinch. In PT play, four of the five OL made the playoffs. While Coney Island will be headed back to silver, the winner of the Brooklyn - Port Ruppert series will be headed to diamond, with Algoma and Cary also having with a path to promotion. An OL series is possible.

Indeed. Waffletown wins September(!) on its way to winning OL S303.
OL takes nine of ten playoff spots. Nominations are now open for individual awards. |
