  • Some great races all around. The NL East is featuring 2 big time powers in the Jets and Miners. Feels like the Miners have been on a 9-1 run for about a month. I know they had a 13 game win streak earlier. That's the ABA's version of the AL East.
  • That, the AL West and maybe the wild cards are the only real suspenseful races unless someone goes white hot or ice cold.
  • Can't get over how quickly our division has fallen.
  • Cortezo is due back this 1st week in September.
  • Callups will be strategic. Few arms, extra catcher and 3-4 bats maybe.

TARPONS MONTH
  • Dan McMullen hit .366-10-31 to win AAA POTM honors. He's at .323-26-110 for the year.
  • Josh Thompson went 4-0 2.65 to take home AAA PIOTM. He's 20-2 3.58
  • Shojiro Sato (A) was 5-0 3.27 to win Class A PIOTM for Farmington. He's 8-2 3.81
  • Zaire Vialet (SA) was 4-1 2.40 in August to take home Short-season PIOTM. He's 8-2 2.64

WEEK 26
SCHEDULE:
OFF DAY
3 vs Detroit
END OF THE REGULAR SEASON

RESULTS:
  • 9/26: Florida 9 Detroit 7
  • W-Robb (1-0) L-Southorn (15-9 4.39) S-Turner (30)
  • HR: DET-Burmeister (21)FLA-Chase (48) Nakamura (13)

  • J Thompson 1.1 IP 3 H 5 BB 5 ER
  • Clovis took home the AA Crown today beating Eau Claire 3 games to 1.
  • TARPONS EXTEND YAMADA
  • 25 year old reliever Tsunesuke Yamada and the Florida Tarpons have agreed to a 5 year 9.725 million dollar contract extension. The young reliever was set to become a free agent at seasons end but the club had expressed a strong desire to try and keep the southpaw in the Tarpon navy and red.
  • Yamada is 1-2 2 Saves 3.20 this year and career he's 12-8 7 Saves 3.71 ERA with 335 K's and 169 walks in 361 career innings. He had a breakout season in 2010 going 2-1 2 Saves with a 2.24 ERA and 94 K's in 64.1 IP.
  • GM'S OFFICE
  • I really wanted to get this one done. He's the perfect setup/stopper arm pre-9th inning and allows me to go with an R/L bridge to get to Turner. He's making 885 this year and was a comp FA if I wanted to let him go. I have arms but he's a legit closer option, and he's just 25. His base is 1.38/1.68/.1.88 and 2/385 with a 5th-year player option at 2.38.
  • POSTSEASON UPDATE
  • There are 2 remaining questions and 1 remaining spot for October. Alaska and Memphis are tied at 82-78 for the 2nd AL WC and Pittsburgh and Washington are tied at 112-48 for the NL East.
  • San Antonio has clinched the 2nd NL WC
  • 9/27: Detroit 9 Florida 6
  • W-Takeuchi (2-1 5.00) L-Balderas (3-6 6.20) S-Berg (7)

  • HR: DET-Marrero (23) Ogarro (38) Barella (34) back to back to back FLA-Ogden (2)
  • POTG: Nakamura 3-5 2B (22) R 5 RBI (53)
  • Ogden 3-4 HR 2 R RBI (5)
  • Willoughby 5 IP 4 H 1 ER 4 BB 5 K
  • Luis Valles (KC) tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 7-0 win over LA. He finishes 15-15 4.92
  • Luis Santillan (SF) became just the 3rd player in league history to hit 600 career home runs. Santillan went 2-5 hitting his 600th and 601st career homers and drove in all 5 in the Bears 5-4 win over San Antonio. He trails Chris Frederick by just 7 and the all-time record is 643 held by Pat Stephenson. He is far ahead of active players leading Detroit's Loan Auffret 78 HRs.
  • Pittsburgh wins the NL East in dramatic fashion as they needed 18 innings to down Oklahoma. The euphoria was short lived however as they learned Koufax candidate and ace Sean Riggs will undergo Tommy John Surgery and be lost for this postseason and likely all of 2013.
  • Washington will play San Antonio in the play in game.
  • Alaska and Memphis both lost so they will need to play a tiebreaker to determine the 2nd AL wild-card team.

END OF THE REGULAR SEASON
  • RECORD: 2-1 (102-60)
  • STANDINGS: 1st +21
  • RUNS FOR: 936 2nd
  • RUNS AGAINST: 701 1st
  • DEFENSE: .702 1st

GAME 6
  • Las Vegas @ Florida
  • Noh (13-11 2.93) vs Samvdio (16-11 3.25)

An Aucoin Sac Fly makes it 3-1. Into the 9th, down 2, Saldana PH for Elizondo and draws a walk. Leith Bursey steps up and battles to a full count before lining a ball in the hole at short where Adeiny Hechavarria snags it, tosses to 2nd and onto 1st for a rally-killing, season-ending double play.
  • Las Vegas 3 Florida 1

  • HR NONE
  • POTG Noh 7 IP 6 H 4 K 1 ER
