WEEK 12
  • SCHEDULE
  • OFF DAY
  • 3 vs Ohio 2-1
  • ALL STAR BREAK

RESULTS
  • Sergio Coronado comes off the DL and Joe Rogers is optioned to AAA.
  • 6/18: OFF DAY
  • 6/19: Florida 4 Ohio 1
  • W – Willoughby (12-2 2.99) L – Medina (7-5 3.89) S – Turner (21)
  • HR: FLA-Molina (10)
  • POTG: Willoughby 7 IP 6 H 1 ER 0 BB 8 K
  • Hallamore 2-4 2B (15) R 2 RBI (41)
  • Bob Freel (PIT) gave up just 4 hits in the Miners 6-0 win over New England. He's 4-4 2.77
  • In that win right fielder, Josh Jensen went 4-4 and hit for the cycle with a 2 out 8th inning triple to complete it.
  • Tousei Sato (LV) recorded one of the ABA's highest single-game scores in history when he struck out 18 Roadrunners and allowed just a 4th inning double in beating Phoenix 15-0. The game was just the 3rd 100+ game score by a pitcher in ABA history. The 18 K's also set a new franchise single-game record by breaking his old record of 15. He faced just 1 batter over the minimum and struck out every Roadrunner starter at least once.
  • Both Rookie Leagues and the Short Season club get their seasons started tomorrow. All of the 2012 draft picks are signed and on their respective clubs. We managed to come in 730K under our allotted draft budget this year. We are also under pretty strict orders to stay out of the International Market as well. We are still showing a potential HUGE loss at years end and that's already causing some major issues with the ownership group.

Nothing jumps out besides the horrid season the Lancers are having and the fact that both Western Division races are over.
I am wondering how in the hell Chicago is keeping up with Ohio given the Generals offense is off the charts good.

  • Keenan Hallamore came out of the game late after coming up lame. Given the fact he's never come out of a game before despite being hurt many times I'm concerned. We'll put him on the 10-day as a precaution and to give him a blow. Danny Sharp is destroying AAA pitching (.370) and has nothing left to prove so we'll give him 10 days of AB's up here.
  • 7/7: OFF DAY

  • At Spring Valley IF Jorge Riesgo went 1-1 with 5 RBI's yesterday. He PH in the 7th with a sac fly and then hit a walk-off Grand Slam in the bottom of the 9th. The 2007 scouting discovery is hitting .447/.526/1.000 in 14 games with 8 HRs and 23 RBI's.
  • 7/10: Florida 4 Milwaukee 2
  • W – A Flores (7-1 2.67) L – B Reese (5-7 5.36) S – Turner (23)
  • HR: FLA-Cortezo (10)
  • POTG: Flores 8 IP 6 H 1 ER 6 K
  • DJ Adams was hit by a pitch and x-rays have revealed a fracture. We're looking at 5-6 weeks. Nakamura will enter the lineup and move Wild from 1B to DH which will improve us immensely and L Akira Take****a will be recalled. We will move Yamada from a setup to stopper role and Take****a will slide into the setup role as the lefty opposite Kaneshiro.
  • 7/11: Florida 6 Phoenix 1
  • W – Samvdio (10-7 5.74) L – Ellis (5-10 5.24)
  • HR: PHX-Reinosa (9)
  • POTG: Samvdio 8.2 IP 6 H 1 ER 4 BB 4 K
  • Bursey 4-5 R 2 RBI (88)
  • TARPONS AND SURGE TRADE 6
  • The Florida Tarpons have sent top P prospect Joe Rogers, top C prospect Savion Galbreath and two OF prospects 25-year-old Dan Pierce and 26-year-old Juan Castro to the St Louis Surge for 2010 2nd overall pick OF Rodolfo Morales and OF Kinnon Matkin who was taken 42nd overall in 2011 out of OSU.
  • GM'S OFFICE
  • I am now tapping into my organization's depth. I have a litany of pitching depth and Rogers is a 28-year-old “prospect'. I have no doubt he'll immediately be recalled and put into their rotation but he wasn't cracking ours now or likely in the future. Galbreath was a 'top' catching prospect because of his bat. He's going to hit but his defense has not improved much, if at all since he was drafted and he's not even close to being able to handle ABA pitching. Catching is also another very deep position for us. Both outfielders I traded are 'prospects' but not good enough to be on our ABA roster. I think they're both AAAA players.
  • The two players I got in return are insanely high ceiling guys. Both are middle of the order bats, Morales is ready right now to hit at the top of an ABA lineup and Matkin is not far behind. Morales was the 2nd overall pick just 2 years ago and has HoF potential tools.
  • 7/12: Florida 5 Phoenix 2
  • W – Pollock (10-4 3.29) L – Janzen (8-7 3.85) S – Yamada (3)
  • HR: PHX-Ahumada (11)
  • POTG: Janzen CG 7 H 5 R 1 ER 4 BB 2 K
  • Sergio Osario (OH) scattered 7 hits and Ohio plated 12 in a 12-0 win over New York. Osario is 10-6 4.05
  • CJ Reisner went 5-6 homering and driving in 5 in the Broncos 14-4 thumping of San Diego.
  • Rodolfo Morales homered on the 1st pitch he saw in Alamogordo's 4-2 win over the Blue Springs Eskimos.
  • 7/13: Florida 8 Phoenix 1
  • W – Willoughby (14-3 3.07) L – Kawahara (5-9 4.33)

New format

I am going to take to a new format. I am pretty sure there are few, if any folks following this thread and I am unsure why but I have my assumptions. Anyway, I am going to try a month by month approach and see if I like the format. I may end the thread and just do it for myself but I wanted to let Orcin, and I think the other 1-2 folks reading, that I'll be doing this in another format

As you can see I spent an enormous amount of energy this winter to get the minor league system where I wanted it and our international scouting has done an incredible job. Gregorio Figueroa's record-setting 2013 SCREAMS to call him up but he's just 20 years old and I want to see more defensive maturity at 2B and 3B. We possess 3 of the top 5 hitting prospects in the game. As you can tell I brought in some arms too, and our organization is deep on the mound and off. I didn't have to move any impact players to make this stuff happen and as you will see the opening day roster is going to look very similar.
The Alamogordo team is absolutely stacked. Randy Metcalf is back from his 1-year hiatus after arm surgery and is at AAA, remember too Chad Willoughby is at least 5 months away from returning as of opening day. I lost Taizo Nakai to a severe knee injury in camp (the only real injury of the spring) and he's not due back until the break.

2014 APRIL
Here's the opening day lineup vs Brooklyn.
1 – Cortezo DH
2 – Bursey CF
3 – Hayashi LF
4 – Chase 3B
5 – Molina C
6 – Hallamore SS
7 – Morales RF
8 – Rivera 2B
9 – Mendoza 1B
SP – RJ Stanton

So pretty much the exact same group of guys that opened the season last year. Tim Grimes will start to see more AB's vs RHP and Danny Sharp will begin spelling Hallamore at SS once a week. Sharp and Legion will be late inning defensive replacements pretty much every day.
Sharp will be the 1st bat off the bench vs LHP and Linseman will handle that job vs RHP.

Jim Kelly will close with Turner once again acting as the “stopper” to be used when and where needed for high leverage situations.
The rest of the pen is two righties Jonah Black and Hiroshige Hirai (from SD in a trade) and Umoh and Yamada the lefties.
The rotation will go Stanton, Flores, Pollock, Gilbert with Zach Monlux moving into the 5th slot.

108 players on the waiver wire opening day but no fits on this roster.

Our bullpen was a nightmare in April but we still managed the leagues best record. Brad Turner had the worst month of his career. RJ Stanton went full on ace after his opening day loss.
Opening day 6.1 IP 8 H 2 ER 4 BB 9 K and then
8 IP 2 ER 12 K
9 IP 0 ER 12 K
8 IP 1 ER 11 K
9 IP 3 ER 13 K
7.2 IP 2 ER 10 K

The "Zachs" went 8-2 and threw great this month. Kody Pollock had a very up and down month and Flores 2-4 7.32 month was AFTER 0-4 9.49 1st 4 starts!
