Mundys Make Changes
Perhaps inspired by the NHL trading deadline, Port Ruppert made a flurry of signings yesterday, inking right-handed starters Freddie Fitzsimmons and Tommy Greene, replacing both current righties in the rotation. Dave Ferris moved to the bullpen, while Jim Hearn assumed duties as a pitching instructor at the Mundys minor league complex.
Left-handed reliever Joe Page, just 30 years-old, announced his retirement to pursue outside interests. That was quickly followed by the signing of lefty Bruce Ruffin for a bullpen role. On the hitters side, free agents Julius "Moose" Solters and Harry Hooper were added to play left and right fields, respectively. Manger Luke Gofannon has been displeased with the outfield defense and the two are expected to shore up the outer patrol. Jackie Jensen will remain in right as part of a platoon against lefties, while Danny Valencia was optioned to the Kakoola Reapers. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 04-13-2021 at 07:41 AM. |

The Boston Red Sox - OL actually have a winning record! But in our rookie league, only 8 teams get promoted now, as opposed to 16 last time around. Will it always be 8 going forward? Seems like I might be stuck here a long time.
![]() Also, the Sox have, for now, kept their name to avoid confusion. Being new to this, I didn't realize the culture was to avoid real-life baseball team names. But for now, I guess I'll stand out.

Also, I'm not sure this has been asked, but are build-a-legend players permitted in OL?

I'm guessing they are. seems to be only LIVE & future legend players are not permitted. * I've pulled 3-4 future legend cards. would love to use them & hate to see that diamond back turn to an unusable card

In answer to this and Fenway's question as well. Players whose cards are based on 2020 results are not used in OL. That is, all live and future legend (who are live) are not usable. Any card based on past seasons is fine, be they build-a-legend, build-a-bear or if if you build it, he will come. By the way, the future legends almost always sell at premium prices. I pulled a guy named, I think, Paiche, and sold him for a net profit of a little more than 30,000, which became Tommy Greene, Harry Hooper, Julius Soltors, and Gene Woodling with PP to spare. Don't despair when you pull them. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 04-14-2021 at 03:04 AM. |

Irv Young has Become Port Ruppert Bellwhether
There was some off-season speculation about what lefty Irv Young would do for an encore after a league leading 21 wins in 2022 in OL R65. He began the 2023 OL ST102 season by winning Pitcher-of-the-Month honors for April. On his very next start after receiving the accolade, he fashioned another gem, hurling a no-hitter, walking three while fanning 11.

yeah, will be sitting on some bank or a good reward when they sell or a mission is announced. they do seem like extremely strong cards. loving the added challenge of card restrictions.

Ted Williams joins the Crakes
Ted Williams, after consulting with his agent Perfect Draft I, decided to join the Helthwyzer Crakes. We are in an excellent Stone 102 division (with rampaging Cary Southpaws and Coney Island Warriors) so hopefully this addition will keep us competitive. When asked why he joined the Crakes, Teddy said he liked our moxie!

Waffletown gets off the schneid and wins a 32 team Silver tourney (apparently one I signed up for *before* the reward boosted to 10 packs
so ended up with 6)... first pack out of the gate: first perfect card of v22 for the Syrups.... Buehler stepped off the bus, took a look around the Spile and said: "There's no way in hell I'm going to play in this dump", and got back on the bus. thankfully for Waffletown, the 20K he will bring in will be put to good use. |

Thanks. Would you like to look at the transaction logs for any of them? The Coyotes benefited from pulling the 100 Frankie Frisch, and after agonizing over it sold him for 200k. So they were able to finish off the live missions.
The Reds pulled the 100 Acuna live card, and sold that for 29k so that helped them along on missions as well. Happy to go through the logs in google hangout or something if anyone has worries.

Welcome aboard, Vyshka!
Also, StanleyKuppchaser, I think my user name is spelled wrong on the spreadsheet. I'm Carl_Yastrzemski. The "z" appears only after the r, for reasons Yaz never explained. I suppose he should've been known as Yas, not Yaz. ![]() I'm still thinking about adding my other two teams to OL. Just dunno if I can keep up with them! It's all I can do to keep my Red Sox afloat. Although they are in first place in their division right now, even if only temporarily. :P

Actually, Jason is our spreadsheet guru, but I'll check the spelling on the sheet. I'm too old and make too many typ0s to be handed such a responsibility.

Ever since they upped the ante, my teams are slumping. Haven't won a thing, after getting 10-15 a day for a week. I've looked at a couple to see what's going wrong, but see a lot of one-run losses, so it's probably just luck, given how even the rosters are. If I would have known the slump was coming, I'd have saved the 16 I opened yesterday evening. I was bemoaning my luck after 14 packs with only a single live silver as the bounty, when I also pulled a 100 Walker Buhler. The final pack really shone when it revealed a diamond Ben Tincup historical card. The Cherokee Nation member will be given a shot at the closer role. |
