Eventually, but not likely to happen this year.

Is there a way to automatically recalculate average attendance and team budgets? I've started a custom league and adjusted the arena capacities down from the USA-style defaults, but it doesn't seem to change other values to reflect the change. E.g. I have teams with 10,000-seat arenas, but average attendance is still 17,000+ and they have $70 million+ budgets. I realise I can can adjust these down manually, but it's a bit of a finger-in-the-air exercise, particularly the team budget figure.

EDIT: I presume as well that after a season has been played these will begin to normalise based on attendance and revenue in the previous season?

Probably mid-February, then the final one will be after the trading deadline in March.

No, there's no way to automatically recalculate them, only manual editing of the exact amounts. You may want to try creating a couple of copies of your game with "save as..." and then experimenting by autoplaying a few seasons to get the values working as you want them.

Under the NHL Draft log, sort by Team.

Does anyone ever actually develop in the AHL? What is the point of it in these games?

Yes. It's a developmental league. It's about players growing and learning systems. It's about having them available for call-ups.

I know what the AHL is. But having bought the last 3 games it seems the best option for development is to just leave drafted players unsigned for a year or two. Players don't seem to improve and I've seen some lose potential ratings

Some will never reach their full potential. Without knowing the players, it's impossible to say. You don't want to be putting overmatched players in the AHL though (or any other league) because it will stunt their growth. You need to utilize it appropriately. Send players to the ECHL, keep them in College/overseas/etc.

How well will players perform/develop playing on their opposite wing? For example I've drafted to lefty LWs in the last 2 drafts and both are 5 star potential but I would prefer one on the RW. Is that change going to stunt his growth or will they just not perform well there due to being a lefty on the right side?

Won't hurt development, they'll just under-perform slightly (the exact amount depends on how low their opposite-wing rating is) until they reach 20 at the new position. Perfectly valid strategy to draft them with the idea of changing their side.

I'm just curious, is there actually a tactical advantage to playing a winger on the side opposite to his dominant hand?
I'm not an expert in hockey, especially when it comes to the more technical side. I know that in football (european kind) playing a winger on his non-dominant side will cause him to cut inside and could be an advantage when he actually tries to shoot or pass from this side.
But in hockey if I play a right-handed player on the left wing, is that actually a good thing, gives any bonus?

There's been many such cases in the NHL, but I'll cite just one. Pavel Bure. A left handed shot who had great scoring success playing the right wing.

The advantage is it changes the shooting angle for both the player and the goaltender. Matter of fact, many teams will intentionally line up a right or left handed shot on his opposite wing just to improve the shooting angle on the power play.

Not to mention, it opens the possibility of one timers. Not sure if it's taken into account in the game, though.

Nice! Thanks for the insights guys. I'll be sure to use more off-hand shooters then.

Is live trading during the draft a thing? I want to move up in the order after the draft has already started but I can't wait days for a team to reply to my offer?
