The first and previously only time that the Association Semifinals Round had all the same results was in 2319 when all four series were 3-0 sweeps.

For the Championship Series and Sole Survivor Series, as mentioned in all Game 7s in 2302, that was the only other time that all series ended in the same number of games.

Love this! Feels like what OOTP is made for. I'm always looking at stuff like this for my saves. It felt so unique but if it happens once it can happen again!

Lot of other interesting anomalies. Definitely remember a few without Game 7s, but 4 3-0s in 2319 is pretty crazy!

NCA Nuka Hitter Award

Eden Babz has been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization enough to know a good hot streak when he sees one -- and he got to see one firsthand all year. For his standout run through the 2320 season, he's taking home the Nuka-Hitter Award in the North Charles Association.

The Easy Town center fielder put up a batting average of .325 with 30 doubles, 7 triples, 25 home runs and 94 RBIs.

He received 32 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Johnboy Zikmund of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists finished second in voting, while Marl Moriarty of the Bunker Hill 75ers finished third.

SCA Nuka Hitter Award

At the age of 24, Phil Brodie of the FHE Yao Guai could very well have his best years ahead of him.

It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2320 was good enough to win the second baseman the South Charles Association Nuka-Hitter Award.

"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."

The top hitter put up a .322 batting average this year, as well as a .392 on-base percentage. He played 137 games and racked up 156 hits, 36 doubles, 2 triples, 30 home runs, 101 RBIs and 89 runs scored.

He received 32 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Missile Crews of the FHE Yao Guai finished second in voting, while Pockets Wrench of the Vault 81 Dwellers finished third.

NCA Vim! Pitcher Award

Paul Stains of the Witch Hats humbled hitters all season long and today celebrated as he hauled in the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Year trophy, the coveted Vim! Pitcher Award.

The Salem hurler held opposing hitters to a .177 batting average while putting up a 20-11 record and a 2.28 earned run average. He started 36 games, pitched 292 innings and struck out 325.

He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 32. Carter Hall of the Nahant Celtics finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Mercury Morris of the Starlight Killers finished third with 4 first place votes.

SCA Vim! Pitcher Award

The FHE Yao Guai have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Lane Phrasemaker, this year's South Charles Association Vim! Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Phrasemaker compiled a 20-3 record in 32 starts, tallied 254 strikeouts in 237.2 innings and recorded a 1.67 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .156 batting average against him.

He received 28 first place votes out of a possible 32. Macho Lopez of the Diamond City Swatters finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Baker Dozen of the FHE Yao Guai finished third.

NCA CURIE Manager Award

Malden manager Chris Blizard was selected as the 2320 North Charles Association Manager of the Year today.

He was somewhat of a dark horse next to some of the more flashy managers up for the award. Blizard, who prefers that everyone call him "Cap" or "Skip," tries to shy away from the limelight in a media-driven world.

"It's really unfair to the guys that busted their humps all year long to put all the focus on me now. They showed up early, put in extra time in the cage, worked on their fielding, consulted with our coaching staff and really made 2320 a highlight in my career."

In fairness to this year's Manager of the Year, Blizard certainly played an important part in the Grognaks success as he guided them to a first place finish in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League and a 80-64 record.

SCA CURIE Manager Award

The FHE Yao Guai called a press conference to announce that field manager Cozy Burmaster had been named South Charles Association Manager of the Year earlier in the day. Staffers congratulated the 61-year-old baseball guru as he approached the podium.

"This city has allowed me to craft a winning ball club," said Burmaster. "When you take on a new job, there's always some adjustment period, but everyone here has been cooperative. From the bat boys on up. Here's to many more successful seasons for the FHE Yao Guai!"

Burmaster led FHE to a 91-53 record this year and a first place finish in the South Charles Association Railroad League.

NCA Red Rocket Rookie Award

A'Trey-U Jones, the rookie first baseman for the Salem Witch Hats, assured himself of a place in North Charles Association history with a solid performance in the 2320 season. He now has a place reserved for him in the league record book under "Rookie of the Year."

The 22-year-old Salem newcomer took the trophy by hitting .216 in 141 games this season and finished with 104 hits, 45 home runs, 70 RBIs and 70 runs scored.

He received 28 first place votes out of a possible 32. Paydirt Wynter of the Far Harbor Fog finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Cone Chek of the Nuka World Thrills finished third.

This year's outstanding rookie has been chosen and the honor goes to Cape Cod left fielder Tink Crenshaw. He received the 2320 South Charles Association Red Rocket Rookie Award for his consistent play and solid numbers.

He finished the regular season with a .272 batting average, 23 doubles, no triples and 20 home runs. The 26-year-old Crenshaw also had 68 RBIs and scored 62 times.

He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 32. Hunter Fuhdoosh of the Southie Brews finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Zacky O'Dowd of the Glowing Sea Radscorpions finished third with 5 first place votes.

At the young age of only 24, Tenacious Jenkins has been named the North Charles Association Fallon's Reliever Award winner for 2320.

The future appears bright for the Starlight Killers relief ace, who captured the award with 34 saves in 56 relief appearances, 78 strikeouts in 70.1 innings and a record of 7-5 to go with his 1.02 ERA.

He received 32 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Surge Jowle of the Lexington Synths finished second in voting, while Hunter Kim of the Lexington Synths finished third.

He may only be 24, but Free Jerry Patterson of the Southie Brews has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the South Charles Association.

The reliever was today named the SCA Fallon's Reliever Award winner for 2320.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 4 saves in 72 relief appearances and 91 strikeouts in 75.1 innings. He had a record of 2-1 to go with his 1.79 ERA.

He received 24 first place votes out of a possible 32. Killian Austin of the Southie Brews finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Boots Echenstein of the Southie Brews finished third with 5 first place votes.

2320 Rookie Draft Preview

We are now in draft week! This week, we will preview the top five youth players from the CYL. These are based on scouts' opinions of where they will fall in the draft (as of today) as opposed to their scouting ratings based on purely potential. Scouts assume team needs and rely on individual teams' scouts for some information on which players they have high on their boards. According to the list, these are the top five CYL players expected to be picked (Note: ALL five here are sons of former CBO players):

1. LF Drew Pondsip, Danvers - Son of longtime University Point reliever and three-time All-Star, Marc Pondsip (2296-2316), Drew's skills are at the plate and in the field rather than on the mound. Scouts see the younger Pondsip as still growing into his body and expect his power to come. He is most comfortable getting ahead of pitches and does a lot more damage against lazy off-speed pitches. He is also good at making pitchers throw a lot of pitches to him. He is not the best base runner and only attempted nin steals in the CYL, but Pondsip has good speed that could allow him to roam any part of the outfield, though he is most comfortable in LF.

2. 1B Jack Tatoeater, North Providence - Son of Peter Tatoeater, the younger Tatoeater is talented at waiting for the right pitch and then abusing it. He is expected to be a high OBP hitter at the next level and could settle into the 3rd or 4th spot in the order. He is not the most talented with the glove, but could play either corner OF position. Scouts think he will eventually settle in at 1B, so that is where he is positioned on scouting reports.

3. 1B Bubba Bigfish, Plum Island - Like Tatoeater above, the son of Moby Bigfish, Bubba is expected to be great at being an OBP hitter in the league. He has a lot of power potential, showing that his senior season with the Candymen by hitting 22 home runs. He is decent with the glove, and should settle into the middle of the lineup without any concerns about his game.

4. 3B Shouter Cocoa, Scituate - When your dad is a legend, you may feel the pressure. That is the biggest concern with the son of legendary Barker Cocoa, Shouter. Shouter is his own . . . boy, and he may also be a late bloomer like his father. Scouts think the best feature of Cocoa is his ability to recognize pitches and draw walks. While he has yet to show it, scouts also believe he has the frame to be a top home run hitter, too. He is a good defensive third baseman and should remain in the lineup once he makes it to the big leagues.

5. LF Bear Bather, Gloucester - Knud Bather's son and Buff Bather's nephew, Bear followed his uncle's path in the outfield where his strong arm could allow him to play SS/3B like his dad did but will probably lead to eventually settling in RF. For now, his position is LF. A switch hitter, Bear is an all-contact type hitter, good at hitting the ball down the lines. Scouts see him as a regular top AVG hitter, capable of winning batting titles when fully developed.

CBO News and Notes

October 27 - After prolonged negotiations Nuka World agreed to ship 27-year old LF Lip Durocher and 22-year old minor league LHP Jazzy Skaroupka to Lexington for 19-year old minor league CF Coffee Carden. The deal is awaiting confirmation from the league office but neither team expects any hang-ups.

"It took longer than expected," said one GM, "but we knew that the deal was going to happen."

In his career, Durocher has played in 131 games, batted .248 with 12 home runs and 111 base hits.

CBO Winter Meetings

The CBO will have a special three-day meeting this week in Diamond City, where all 32 owners will gather to vote on potential league changes.

As we have learned, here are a few items up for vote that we will be able to update next week:

* Sale of Sunshine Tidings
* Roster changes
* Minimum rookie age
* Awards

We asked what some of the roster changes may be, in which there is talk of expanding on maximum roster sizes at each of the levels of the CBO and minors. There is no chance to reduce the numbers of players allowed per level. Seventeen of the 32 owners agreed would make changes in this meeting, creating a simple majority.

Analysis

Monster Milam out of American Int'l was the right pick since he is expected to slot into the starting SS slot right away and will probably bat leadoff for the Fog. Biggest reach: SP Box Car Russell, 32nd overall - After the Brews earned the top record in the CBO, they may have room to reach. OSA scouts had several pitchers rated higher than Russell, currently placing him as a slight chance to make the CBO. In his senior season with the Woonsocket Orphans, Russell converted to a starter, going 5-3 with a 2.89 ERA in 15 starts.

I have "temporarily" (HOPEFULLY) killed my Fallout league. My level of frustration with my computer has been increasing, so I was determined to retake control. I think I have finally wiped out OneDrive's grasp on my computer, but I think I performed one step backwards and left a lot of files in limbo.

I am in the process of downloading the league back off the online version of OneDrive, but it does not like large files like OOTP saves. I have been attempting most of the afternoon to grab smaller files. I may have to grab just a few jerseys and caps at a time, but I think I am close to testing to see if the league will load. If everything is right, it loads up right after the draft.

One thing I cannot figure out is exactly where the individual facegens are housed. It may be possible that everyone in the league looks different, but that would mostly be from my end since only a few players overall have had their facegens shown in this dynasty. I won't concern myself too much with that factor.

UPDATE: I have taken back control of my files and now expect the game to run as it had for the six prior years. Unfortunately (but maybe fortunately), I am back to the beginning of the offseason. That means I will edit posts above, and the draft results will be different. The main reason the draft results will be different is that for some reason the top of the draft order was off, and I did not catch it. Nuka World should not have been picking first but third behind Far Harbor and Providence. I am not sure how to change the rule that "expansion teams pick first," but the order should still be correct.

CBO Rules Changes

Following the special Winter Meetings from November 10-12, the CBO has made some changes to the future of the league.

27/32 votes: The biggest change is that each of the levels have added two roster slots. The CBO moves from 25 to 27 players on the active roster. Each of the NEBL, MML, and BMU move from 30 to 32 players. The two rookie leagues, the GBRL and VHRL move from 40 to 42 players.

30/32 votes: Owners have been increasingly concerned about the readiness of the youth league players, so they voted to raise the minimum age for players at each of the top three levels to 19 years old. That means the youngest a player can be in the CBO, NEBL, and MML is 19. Younger players are still allowed in the BMU, GBRL, and VHRL.

18/32 votes: As a second portion of that raised age, the CBO is going to start requiring CYL players to attend college, which may affect the 2321 draft for number of players affected. Right now, Commissioner Jimmy LaRue has stated that he wants the rule to take effect immediately, but it could cause chaos at both the CYL and CCBL levels as teams adjust.

At the moment, the draft has expanded to 23 rounds, though the draft pool may be too small in 2321 compared to past seasons. LaRue has taken a "wait and see" approach as the number of collegiate teams is edging closer to the 128-team cap that LaRue and former commissioner Nate Howard had set up in years past.

13/32 votes: One factor that owners rejected was the impending sale of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. Some groups have been clamoring for the sale, but owners, knowing that Oberland will relocate next season, have decided to put at least a three-year hiatus on relocating the Chemists team.

Commissioner's Notes

Commissioner LaRue has spoken more about realignment of the CBO and has tasked a committee to look into population trends among other factors in the CBO. He has stated that he would like the league spread more geographically now that it is more viable to move across longer distances in shorter times. It has sounded as though he is much more open to original CBO teams relocating farther away from Boston than the current locations. After the T-51s relocate in 2322, they will be the second farthest team from Boston (153 miles) after Far Harbor (281 miles).

CBO News and Notes

November 14 - A group of Lexington players on an excursion to Plum Island ran into major trouble when a queen mirelurk emerged from the sea while they were at the Plum Island Beach Jetty.

While multiple more players were at the Jetty, the only reported injuries were newly-acquired RP Devon Cobbs, LF Lip Durocher, RP Surge Jowle, LF McGrath Maguire, 2B Glove Payton, and SS Bitty Shorthop.

All of Cobbs, Jowle, and Payton suffered scrapes and bruises, while Durocher, Maguire, and Shorthop's injuries were more severe though still not considered serious. Shorthop supposedly had a deep gash on his leg, requiring stitches and staples. He should be healed from his injuries in about 5-6 weeks. We do not have information of Durocher and Maguire's injuries, but we hear that they had cuts and other injuries requiring medical attention.

There were no reported deaths at the scene with the queen mirelurk being pulverized by security and laser turrets.

CBO Selects 2nd Hall of Fame Class

Four more players have been selected to the CBO Hall of Fame, bringing the number to nine total. All four players are featured below. None of the other finalists received enough votes to enter the "senior class," so they are no longer eligible for HOF induction.

HOF Member: #12 CF Aesed Hayjen, University Point, CBO Years: 2297-2316

What a career and what a ballplayer.

Aesed Hayjen truly was one of the best to play the game, and today he was enshrined into the Commonwealth Baseball Organization Hall of Fame with 0.0% of writer's ballot votes.

"It is an honor to be mentioned with the greatest players of all time. I want to thank my family, friends and teammates for supporting me throughout this long career," the outstanding center fielder said at the induction ceremony.

In his career, Hayjen played in 1811 games with a .312 lifetime batting average, currently the 20th best in CBO history. Among his 2236 hits (13th all-time) were 321 doubles (t-45), 50 triples (t-53) and 353 home runs (24th), making him 9th all-time in total bases (3716). He also scored 1352 runs (11th) and drove in 1082 runs (t-25). His 68.07 WAR is 20th all-time. Hayjen is also 25th all-time in steals (347).

Hayjen was a one-time Nuka Hitter Award winner (2301), won the 2298 SCA Red Rocket Rookie Award, was a one-time Corvega Top Defender at CF and five-time BosCom Positional Award winner, and participated in six All-Star games.

Hayjen retired from baseball at the age of 39 in 2316.

HOF Member: #7 SP Sheng Kawolski, Diamond City, CBO Years: 2296-2316

What does it take to make the baseball Hall of Fame?

Well, whatever it is, Sheng Kawolski has it. He was inducted into the Commonwealth Baseball Organization Hall of Fame today.

Retiring at age 44, Kawolski had one of the most illustrious careers ever with a 195-162 won-loss mark and a 3.71 ERA (34th all-time). The 195 wins is tied for 15th all-time. He racked up 546 mound appearances with 504 starts (12th) and struck out 2806 (7th) in 3426 innings (12th). He finished with a WAR of 85.33 (6th).

Including the 2296 and 2297 unofficial seasons, Kawolski finished 213-171 with a 3.79 ERA. Sheng won the Vim! Pitcher Award in 2309 and appeared in 10 All-Star games over his career.

Asked by reporters to describe what it takes to become a Hall of Famer, he replied, "I guess it all started at my high school graduation. The speaker said to be successful in life, you needed to find 'something you love.' I am here today because I found something I love. Baseball has been my life. It has never been a job. I have been able to have fun playing a game and making a wonderful life for myself and my family. I am a kid that never really had to grow up. Just go to the ballpark each day and throw strikes. That's it."

Sheng Kawolski closed by saying, "God gave me the talent and blessed me with great coaches, managers, and teammates, who helped me develop it."

HOF Member: #3 CF Ben Pawlak, Fort Hagen, CBO Years: 2297-2316

The baseball legends today welcomed to their exclusive club a new center fielder by the name of Ben Pawlak. His induction ceremony was held today at the Commonwealth Baseball Organization Hall of Fame.

"I remember thinking to myself after I had had a couple of good years that if I keep doing this, maybe I just might make it to the Hall of Fame. The dream became a reality today and I must say this is a very proud day.

Over his career Pawlak batted .302 (47th) and collected 2160 hits (17th), 344 home runs (25th) and 1247 RBIs (9th). He is 9th all-time in WAR (77.85). Pawlak is tied for 5th with Barker Cocoa and Baywatch Fischler in doubles (441). He is 7th in total bases (3803).

He played in 1979 games and retired from baseball at age 39. His best years came as a member of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, whose hat he wore at his induction ceremony.

In his 20 seasons in the CBO, Pawlak was named Nuka Hitter Award winner three times (2300-2302), won the Corvega Top Defender Award twice, and appeared in nine All-Star games. He was the 2311 Sole Survivor Series MVP.

His former manager introduced Pawlak saying, "The big thing about Ben is that he could hit any pitch. I don't mean only strikes. He could hit a ball off his ankles or off his ear."

HOF Member: #13 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson, Easy Town, CBO Years: 2299-2316

Enshrinement beckoned for Lannie Tykeson, as he was inducted into the Commonwealth Baseball Organization Hall of Fame today. Tykeson, who played most of his 1866 games at first baseman, was an outstanding hitter and batted .321 (9th) over his career and swatted 371 home runs (16th). Baseball's newest legend collected 1183 RBIs (14th) and scored 1110 runs (32nd) during his illustrious career. He is 19th all-time in WAR (68.77)

As a pitcher, he finished with a 150-134 record with a 4.74 ERA in 383 appearances with 349 (54th) starts. His 150 wins ranks him tied for 37th. He totaled 1626 strikeouts (49th), walked 950 (36th), and allowed 2619 hits (40th) in 2448.0 innings (47th) pitched. He has a 33.39 career WAR (65th) as a pitcher.

By adding his hitter WAR with his pitcher WAR, Tykeson is 4th all-time in WAR with a 102.16 behind Barker Cocoa (149.30), Beachboy Nut (131.59), and Babs Rooth (109.00).

Tykeson was the 2305 NCA Nuka Hitter Award winner and the 2300 Red Rocket Rookie Award winner. He was selected as an All-Star 11 times. He won the Corvega Defensive Award at either 1B or P 11 times, including a unique set of winning two of the awards at each of P and 1B in 2307.

But while he was class act on the field, it was off the field where Lannie Tykeson shined the most. He was most active in the Easy Town Assaultrons community, selflessly donating his time and money to various causes. The press was largely unaware of his charity and Tykeson never made a fuss about it.

"I played a child's game for many years and this game brought me fame and fortune," Tykeson explained during his ceremony. "For some people it's enough, but my mother raised me to realize that money doesn't make a person great. Being good at a game doesn't make a person great. Helping those in need and giving of yourself selflessly is what makes a person great. And that's what I have tried to be my entire life: great, both on the field and off of the field."

Baseball Is Back!

It is February. That means baseball is back as we approach the 2321 season. The defending champions, Malden, will unleash their championship banner at the season opener, April 1 against Lexington.

The CCBL and CYL welcomes new teams into their ranks, increasing the number of potential prospects across the Commonwealth.

The Nuka Cup Tournament for its 22nd year in its current state as the preseason tournament. We will cover that in more detail below.

Spring Training begins on March 4 with four weeks of games where players are attempting to make the 27-man roster at the CBO level or be sent down to join other players in the NEBL, MML, or BMU leagues. Younger players and players not on the 40-man preseason roster are already warming up in minors camps across the Commonwealth.

Nuka Cup Tournament

The 2321 Nuka Cup Tournament takes place starting this week, February 12, and runs through February 26. Last season, the Egret Ninjas took the tournament, defeating Jamaica Plain, 13-5, in the one-game championship. The tournament took place over eight days in 2320.

This season, there are a few changes, including stretching out the number of days. On Days 1 and 2, now, instead of four games played in a regional, there will be only two maximum games per day. The CBO cited that most four-game days ran well into the night, some finishing around 3 AM when any game went to extra innings.

This season, fans get to buy one-day packages that cover two games with starting times between 12 PM-9PM. Regional games will have a one-hour planned break between games. That means if the first game is schedule for 12 PM, the second game will be at 4 PM unless delayed because of weather or extra-inning games. Each regional is staggered where every game in a day begins at a different time.

The other change is that the Nuka Cup Finals will now be a three-game series. The regionals remain an eight-team double elimination tournament, and the Nuka Cup Semifinals will still remain as a single game. Dates below and then teams by rank in each regional.

December 4 - Nine-time All-Star, 36-year-old LF Ken Debate of Jamaica Plain, announced that he would be foregoing team offseason training and pursuing his own training with former Brotherhood of Steel soldiers. Called the Survivalist Training Regiment, Debate will be going out into the wastes along the Canadian border to strengthen his body.

Debate, who is 7th all-time in home runs (427), has hit eight in the past two seasons, none in 2320. He was quoted as being unhappy with his role but also blamed his own failing skills. At 36, he said he wanted to call it quits at 40, not now.

In 2320, Debate played in 65 games, starting a career-low 21. He batted .183 with 12 RBI and seven runs. Six of his 19 hits were doubles. he struck out 41 times in 119 plate appearances and walked 14 times.

The Red Rockets organization has stamped a four-game suspension for skipping on mandatory off-season camps.

December 15 - Lexington's SP Aaron Noluh has been working on specialized strength training with a private physical therapist in Lexington and has reported great gains. There have been reports of frustration among Synths players in team trainer Eamnonn Wohlmann's system. Noluh opted to seek his own training regiment. We will stay tuned if there is any depth to the rumors about the Synths' training regimen.

Noluh is the second veteran this month to announce gains on his own training regiment. Earlier, veteran Ken Debate of Jamaica Plain reported feeling "young again" after his own survivalist training regimen.

For both players, we will see if 2321 shows improvements in their performances. Noluh went 9-17 with a 3.73 ERA in 2320. The league NCA average was 3.55, so Noluh was well below average in 2320.

December 22 - FHE's Chad Kahan was found in possession sometime earlier this month of large quantities of Psychojet while traveling near the Vermont border. The CBO investigated and issued a 36-game ban on Kahan in the 2321 season.

December 29 - Southie fired hitting coach John Wendel and replaced him with Rory Clawhunt.

January 20 - The FHE Yao Guai traded 20-year old minor league RF Cam Hall to the Lexington Synths, getting 41-year old RHP Deedee Martinson and 21-year old minor league LF Kerrin Garrett in return.

January 24 - The County Crossing Bloodbugs traded 24-year old LF Hingle McCringleberry and a 9th round draft pick to the Southie Brews, getting 20-year old minor league RF Mack Truck Adams, 24-year old minor league 3B Knob Elded, 20-year old minor league 1B Harrison Barrett, and a 14th round draft pick in return.

January 31 - The Sunshine Tidings Chemists traded 25-year old 1B Homeless Hank Mimmy to the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, getting 26-year old RHP Alandro LaForge and 23-year old CF Kai Smith in return.

February 3 - RP Pigpen Singleton, 31, was upset to find out that Quincy would not carry him on their 40-man roster in 2321, prompting him to retire effective today.

In his career, Singleton pitched in 105 games over five seasons with Lexington, FHE, and Quincy. His best seasons were in 2313 (2-2, 3.45, 57.1 IP) and 2314 (7-2, 3.25, 55.1 IP) with the Synths. He appeared in one game with FHE in 2318 and one game with the Granites in 2320.

An 11th-round pick by Egret in 2310, Singleton is most known for being a part of the trade that sent now Hall-of-Famer Lannie Tykeson to Oberland from Quincy, along with SP Trolley Dodge, CF Prince Tripp, and 1B Curious Vault in 2311. Tykeson finished his career with the T-51s (2311-2316).

February 4 - In December, the FHE's Chad Kahan was found to be psycho-jet positive and received a 36-game suspension. Today, it was found out that Kahan was part of a ring distributing chems to players through black market means. He has an additional ban from preseason and Spring Training activities and must be monitored by the league to avoid any further actions against him. The Brotherhood of Steel is also launching an additional investigation into black market chems, especially in regards to increased accounts of violence around the Commonwealth.

As a result of a CBO investigation led by detective Nick Valentine, it was found that six veterans with the Yao Guai had obtained Buffout, Bufftats, and Psychobuff, three chems strictly banned by the CBO. Each player will receive a 14-game regular season ban, or 10% of the season, as first-time offenders and be unavailable to participate in the Nuka World Tournament. The offending players are 3B Odo Capchange, C Hanlon Doyle, RP Ollrod Hubbard, LF Puny Merchant, SS Christian Savage, and RP Agnet Skinner. Unlike Kahan, these six players will be allowed to participate in Spring Training.

CCBL Teams and Conferences

CCBL Top Freshmen

The new class of the CCBL in the final season before an influx of CYL players are expected to join next season. Despite the top CYL players usually surpassing the CCBL for the CBO Draft, the CCBL has been a lot better at developing players to be immediately effective in the CBO. Here is the latest crop of entering freshmen that OSA scouts love best:

1. SS Anvil McConnell, Middlebury - The Panthers join the CCBL with the highest-rated freshman, something that looks to be a theme. Scouts think that McConnell will be a power-hitting SS with a great eye to boot. While he may never be a top batting average hitter, he should have a high OBP and SLG. McConnell will need to develop his defense a lot more and will probably settle at 2B instead of SS either in the CCBL or the next level due to a weaker arm.

2. RF Packy Albano, Landmark College - Another top freshman joining a new addition to the CCBL, Albano is expected to be the Sharks' top power hitter. Like McConnell, Albano has a great combination of power with a sharp eye, though his average is not likely to top .250. His arm is also not considered strong enough to be a long-term RF, so he is more likely to move to LF either in the CCBL or at the next level.

3. 1B Silky McLean, Fitchburg State - The Falcons freshman is a good all-around hitter that should hit for a high average and his fair share of home runs. He has a knack for recognizing pitches in the zone. He hits the ball on a line rather than a power hitter's uppercut, so he can get a high amount of total bases. He is also fast for a 1B with the ability to patrol the OF if needed. At 1B, he could be a top glove at the position but may end up in RF.

4. 3B Sal Ami, UConn-Avery Point - Another top freshman joining a new institution in the CCBL, the Pointers' 3B is yet another high power-high eye hitter who may not end up with a strong average. Ami is more home run or bust than the rest. Sometimes he watches strikes waiting for his pitch, something he will need to work on with the Pointers. His glove also needs work, though when he does glove the ball, he can throw out almost anyone.

5. 1B Bedhead Ozawa, American Int'l - We are seeing a pattern here in the top players. Ozawa is yet another high power-high eye player. Ozawa is not one to watch strikes, but he almost must square up a pitch to get a hit with a lot of fight off outs. When he does square up, the ball flies off the barrel. At 1B, the Yellow Jacket is considered OK, able to glove balls as needed but will never be a defensive standout.

The CCBL's crop of freshmen pitchers is not great. The top-rated starter among freshmen is Middlebury's Error Dikerdem, who is rated by OSA as a 60 potential. He is a finesse righty who uses his changeup as his greatest pitch in his four-pitch arsenal. He is pretty good at hitting the corners, which also helps to cut down on home runs allowed. At the next level, he would have to find a way to break into the rotation.

CYL Teams and Divisions

CYL Top Freshmen

While the number of top-rated players is down in this year's CCBL freshman class, the CYL is loaded with lots of talent entering. Here is the list of top freshmen with a few familiar family names in the group.

1. SP Leap Quantum, Worcester Crows - Beckett Quantum's son, Leap is a hard-throwing lefty with a decently good cutter and developing changeup. Scouts love that he is consistent in getting the ball over the plate already. He needs to work more on movement in his pitches, but scouts see ace potential in Quantum at the next level.

2. 1B Hermin MacDonald, Swansea Nuka Sox - Another son of a CBO player, in this case, former #1 overall pick Stormin' Normin MacDonald. Hermin is a high-power, high-eye hitter who can hit balls high and deep. He has the ability to develop his contact ability, which is pretty low entering his freshman season. He could use some work with his glove, but he should be OK at 1B.

3. 1B Bugs Solagov, Foxborough Night People - A freshman with one of the new additions to the CYL, the Night People are really young as are all new teams in the CYL since there were not previous youth development opportunities. Solagov was sent to the Night People from Seekonk, and they got a potential star. Solagov is a power hitter whose best ability is driving in runs by hitting the ball over the fence. He is big and will only get bigger, already at 6'1" at 13. He has a great glove and a strong arm. If he were any faster, he could make a great right fielder. As it stands, he could already be a top 1B in the CYL as a freshman.

4. RF Quartz Sapphire, Thompson Heights Earthlings - Diamond Sapphire's son is looking to make an impact as a freshman, though he may need to start his career as a pinch hitter unless his bat just cannot be kept off the field. As a corner OF, he is a detriment. For his bat, he should be the middle-of-the-lineup cornerstone to the Earthlings' offense. He likes to swing for the fence on every pitch, so learning more patience will serve him well.

5. CF Poppy Aintfull, Coventry Quads - Son of Pockets Aintfull, Poppy's best asset is his ability to watch bad pitches and not waste swings. He is a bit of an uppercut swinger, so he is yet another power first guy, which is not usual for a CF. As a switch hitter, he is currently better against LHPs. He is not the fastest player, but he will steal a base from time to time. In the OF, he has decent range, but he does sometimes misjudge balls. He will need to work on understanding angles of hit balls. He should start in CF but may move to LF eventually.

SCA CURIE Manager Award The FHE Yao Guai called a press conference to announce that field manager Cozy Burmaster had been named South Charles Association Manager of the Year earlier in the day. Staffers congratulated the 61-year-old baseball guru as he approached the podium. "This city has allowed me to craft a winning ball club," said Burmaster. "When you take on a new job, there's always some adjustment period, but everyone here has been cooperative. From the bat boys on up. Here's to many more successful seasons for the FHE Yao Guai!" These are based on scouts' opinions of where they will fall in the draft (as of today) as opposed to their scouting ratings based on purely potential. Scouts assume team needs and rely on individual teams' scouts for some information on which players they have high on their boards. According to the list, these are the top five CYL players expected to be picked (Note: ALL five here are sons of former CBO players): 1. LF Drew Pondsip, Danvers - Son of longtime University Point reliever and three-time All-Star, Marc Pondsip (2296-2316), Drew's skills are at the plate and in the field rather than on the mound. Scouts see the younger Pondsip as still growing into his body and expect his power to come. He is most comfortable getting ahead of pitches and does a lot more damage against lazy off-speed pitches. He is also good at making pitchers throw a lot of pitches to him. He is not the best base runner and only attempted nin steals in the CYL, but Pondsip has good speed that could allow him to roam any part of the outfield, though he is most comfortable in LF. 2. 1B Jack Tatoeater, North Providence - Son of Peter Tatoeater, the younger Tatoeater is talented at waiting for the right pitch and then abusing it. He is expected to be a high OBP hitter at the next level and could settle into the 3rd or 4th spot in the order. He is not the most talented with the glove, but could play either corner OF position. Scouts think he will eventually settle in at 1B, so that is where he is positioned on scouting reports. 3. 1B Bubba Bigfish, Plum Island - Like Tatoeater above, the son of Moby Bigfish, Bubba is expected to be great at being an OBP hitter in the league. He has a lot of power potential, showing that his senior season with the Candymen by hitting 22 home runs. He is decent with the glove, and should settle into the middle of the lineup without any concerns about his game. 4. 3B Shouter Cocoa, Scituate - When your dad is a legend, you may feel the pressure. That is the biggest concern with the son of legendary Barker Cocoa, Shouter. Shouter is his own . . . boy, and he may also be a late bloomer like his father. Scouts think the best feature of Cocoa is his ability to recognize pitches and draw walks. While he has yet to show it, scouts also believe he has the frame to be a top home run hitter, too. He is a good defensive third baseman and should remain in the lineup once he makes it to the big leagues. 5. LF Bear Bather, Gloucester - Knud Bather's son and Buff Bather's nephew, Bear followed his uncle's path in the outfield where his strong arm could allow him to play SS/3B like his dad did but will probably lead to eventually settling in RF. For now, his position is LF. A switch hitter, Bear is an all-contact type hitter, good at hitting the ball down the lines. Scouts see him as a regular top AVG hitter, capable of winning batting titles when fully developed. CBO News and Notes October 27 - After prolonged negotiations Nuka World agreed to ship 27-year old LF Lip Durocher and 22-year old minor league LHP Jazzy Skaroupka to Lexington for 19-year old minor league CF Coffee Carden. The deal is awaiting confirmation from the league office but neither team expects any hang-ups. "It took longer than expected," said one GM, "but we knew that the deal was going to happen." In his career, Durocher has played in 131 games, batted .248 with 12 home runs and 111 base hits. He gives career star vibes, at least ensuring there will be great defense at the position and hopefully helping to boost the offense from the beginning of his time with Nuka World. While Beck Nut is considered a star pitcher, like his father Beachboy Nut was, who is likely to start in the Providence rotation from the beginning, the pick of Nut as the 2nd-overall player really makes us question what the OSA Mock Draft is based on. Nut was picked to go 29th overall in the Mock Draft as the second pitcher taken behind Morgan the Magnificent Walsh (26th). The same can be said of Ronnie Rants going 8th overall to Salem. Rants was not in OSA's 1st-round Mock. In the end 8 of the 33 (including Salem's supplemental pick) were pitchers. Magnificent was the sixth pitcher taken, at #29 by the Swatters. Biggest reach: SP Box Car Russell, 32nd overall - After the Brews earned the top record in the CBO, they may have room to reach. OSA scouts had several pitchers rated higher than Russell, currently placing him as a slight chance to make the CBO. In his senior season with the Woonsocket Orphans, Russell converted to a starter, going 5-3 with a 2.89 ERA in 15 starts. Otherwise, there were not many surprises or players who were unexpected to go in the 1st round. Many teams claimed that they picked the player they expected to be there. My level of frustration with my computer has been increasing, so I was determined to retake control. I think I have finally wiped out OneDrive's grasp on my computer, but I think I performed one step backwards and left a lot of files in limbo. I am in the process of downloading the league back off the online version of OneDrive, but it does not like large files like OOTP saves. I have been attempting most of the afternoon to grab smaller files. I may have to grab just a few jerseys and caps at a time, but I think I am close to testing to see if the league will load. If everything is right, it loads up right after the draft. One thing I cannot figure out is exactly where the individual facegens are housed. It may be possible that everyone in the league looks different, but that would mostly be from my end since only a few players overall have had their facegens shown in this dynasty. I won't concern myself too much with that factor. UPDATE: I have taken back control of my files and now expect the game to run as it had for the six prior years. Unfortunately (but maybe fortunately), I am back to the beginning of the offseason. That means I will edit posts above, and the draft results will be different. The main reason the draft results will be different is that for some reason the top of the draft order was off, and I did not catch it. Nuka World should not have been picking first but third behind Far Harbor and Providence. StLee Hall Of Famer Join Date: Jun 2008 Location: NC Posts: 5,268	November 2320 BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 15 November 2320 CBO Rules Changes Following the special Winter Meetings from November 10-12, the CBO has made some changes to the future of the league. 27/32 votes: The biggest change is that each of the levels have added two roster slots. The CBO moves from 25 to 27 players on the active roster. Each of the NEBL, MML, and BMU move from 30 to 32 players. The two rookie leagues, the GBRL and VHRL move from 40 to 42 players. 30/32 votes: Owners have been increasingly concerned about the readiness of the youth league players, so they voted to raise the minimum age for players at each of the top three levels to 19 years old. That means the youngest a player can be in the CBO, NEBL, and MML is 19. Younger players are still allowed in the BMU, GBRL, and VHRL. 18/32 votes: As a second portion of that raised age, the CBO is going to start requiring CYL players to attend college, which may affect the 2321 draft for number of players affected. Right now, Commissioner Jimmy LaRue has stated that he wants the rule to take effect immediately, but it could cause chaos at both the CYL and CCBL levels as teams adjust. At the moment, the draft has expanded to 23 rounds, though the draft pool may be too small in 2321 compared to past seasons. LaRue has taken a "wait and see" approach as the number of collegiate teams is edging closer to the 128-team cap that LaRue and former commissioner Nate Howard had set up in years past. 13/32 votes: One factor that owners rejected was the impending sale of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. Some groups have been clamoring for the sale, but owners, knowing that Oberland will relocate next season, have decided to put at least a three-year hiatus on relocating the Chemists team. Commissioner's Notes Commissioner LaRue has spoken more about realignment of the CBO and has tasked a committee to look into population trends among other factors in the CBO. He has stated that he would like the league spread more geographically now that it is more viable to move across longer distances in shorter times. It has sounded as though he is much more open to original CBO teams relocating farther away from Boston than the current locations. After the T-51s relocate in 2322, they will be the second farthest team from Boston (153 miles) after Far Harbor (281 miles). CBO News and Notes November 14 - A group of Lexington players on an excursion to Plum Island ran into major trouble when a queen mirelurk emerged from the sea while they were at the Plum Island Beach Jetty. While multiple more players were at the Jetty, the only reported injuries were newly-acquired RP Devon Cobbs, LF Lip Durocher, RP Surge Jowle, LF McGrath Maguire, 2B Glove Payton, and SS Bitty Shorthop. All of Cobbs, Jowle, and Payton suffered scrapes and bruises, while Durocher, Maguire, and Shorthop's injuries were more severe though still not considered serious. Shorthop supposedly had a deep gash on his leg, requiring stitches and staples. He should be healed from his injuries in about 5-6 weeks. We do not have information of Durocher and Maguire's injuries, but we hear that they had cuts and other injuries requiring medical attention. All four players are featured below. None of the other finalists received enough votes to enter the "senior class," so they are no longer eligible for HOF induction. HOF Member: #12 CF Aesed Hayjen, University Point, CBO Years: 2297-2316 What a career and what a ballplayer. Aesed Hayjen truly was one of the best to play the game, and today he was enshrined into the Commonwealth Baseball Organization Hall of Fame with 0.0% of writer's ballot votes. "It is an honor to be mentioned with the greatest players of all time. I want to thank my family, friends and teammates for supporting me throughout this long career," the outstanding center fielder said at the induction ceremony. In his career, Hayjen played in 1811 games with a .312 lifetime batting average, currently the 20th best in CBO history. Among his 2236 hits (13th all-time) were 321 doubles (t-45), 50 triples (t-53) and 353 home runs (24th), making him 9th all-time in total bases (3716). He also scored 1352 runs (11th) and drove in 1082 runs (t-25). His 68.07 WAR is 20th all-time. Hayjen is also 25th all-time in steals (347). Well, whatever it is, Sheng Kawolski has it. He was inducted into the Commonwealth Baseball Organization Hall of Fame today. Retiring at age 44, Kawolski had one of the most illustrious careers ever with a 195-162 won-loss mark and a 3.71 ERA (34th all-time). The 195 wins is tied for 15th all-time. He racked up 546 mound appearances with 504 starts (12th) and struck out 2806 (7th) in 3426 innings (12th). He finished with a WAR of 85.33 (6th). Including the 2296 and 2297 unofficial seasons, Kawolski finished 213-171 with a 3.79 ERA. Sheng won the Vim! Pitcher Award in 2309 and appeared in 10 All-Star games over his career. Asked by reporters to describe what it takes to become a Hall of Famer, he replied, "I guess it all started at my high school graduation. The speaker said to be successful in life, you needed to find 'something you love.' I am here today because I found something I love. Baseball has been my life. It has never been a job. HOF Member: #3 CF Ben Pawlak, Fort Hagen, CBO Years: 2297-2316 The baseball legends today welcomed to their exclusive club a new center fielder by the name of Ben Pawlak. His induction ceremony was held today at the Commonwealth Baseball Organization Hall of Fame. "I remember thinking to myself after I had had a couple of good years that if I keep doing this, maybe I just might make it to the Hall of Fame. The dream became a reality today and I must say this is a very proud day. Over his career Pawlak batted .302 (47th) and collected 2160 hits (17th), 344 home runs (25th) and 1247 RBIs (9th). He is 9th all-time in WAR (77.85). Pawlak is tied for 5th with Barker Cocoa and Baywatch Fischler in doubles (441). He is 7th in total bases (3803). He played in 1979 games and retired from baseball at age 39. His best years came as a member of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, whose hat he wore at his induction ceremony. In his 20 seasons in the CBO, Pawlak was named Nuka Hitter Award winner three times (2300-2302), won the Corvega Top Defender Award twice, and appeared in nine All-Star games. He was the 2311 Sole Survivor Series MVP. His former manager introduced Pawlak saying, "The big thing about Ben is that he could hit any pitch. I don't mean only strikes. He could hit a ball off his ankles or off his ear." HOF Member: #13 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson, Easy Town, CBO Years: 2299-2316 Enshrinement beckoned for Lannie Tykeson, as he was inducted into the Commonwealth Baseball Organization Hall of Fame today. Tykeson, who played most of his 1866 games at first baseman, was an outstanding hitter and batted .321 (9th) over his career and swatted 371 home runs (16th). Baseball's newest legend collected 1183 RBIs (14th) and scored 1110 runs (32nd) during his illustrious career. He is 19th all-time in WAR (68.77) As a pitcher, he finished with a 150-134 record with a 4.74 ERA in 383 appearances with 349 (54th) starts. His 150 wins ranks him tied for 37th. He totaled 1626 strikeouts (49th), walked 950 (36th), and allowed 2619 hits (40th) in 2448.0 innings (47th) pitched. He has a 33.39 career WAR (65th) as a pitcher. By adding his hitter WAR with his pitcher WAR, Tykeson is 4th all-time in WAR with a 102.16 behind Barker Cocoa (149.30), Beachboy Nut (131.59), and Babs Rooth (109.00). Tykeson was the 2305 NCA Nuka Hitter Award winner and the 2300 Red Rocket Rookie Award winner. He was selected as an All-Star 11 times. He won the Corvega Defensive Award at either 1B or P 11 times, including a unique set of winning two of the awards at each of P and 1B in 2307. But while he was class act on the field, it was off the field where Lannie Tykeson shined the most. He was most active in the Easy Town Assaultrons community, selflessly donating his time and money to various causes. The press was largely unaware of his charity and Tykeson never made a fuss about it. "I played a child's game for many years and this game brought me fame and fortune," Tykeson explained during his ceremony. "For some people it's enough, but my mother raised me to realize that money doesn't make a person great. Being good at a game doesn't make a person great. Helping those in need and giving of yourself selflessly is what makes a person great. And that's what I have tried to be my entire life: great, both on the field and off of the field." It is February. That means baseball is back as we approach the 2321 season. The defending champions, Malden, will unleash their championship banner at the season opener, April 1 against Lexington. The CCBL and CYL welcomes new teams into their ranks, increasing the number of potential prospects across the Commonwealth. The Nuka Cup Tournament for its 22nd year in its current state as the preseason tournament. We will cover that in more detail below. Spring Training begins on March 4 with four weeks of games where players are attempting to make the 27-man roster at the CBO level or be sent down to join other players in the NEBL, MML, or BMU leagues. Younger players and players not on the 40-man preseason roster are already warming up in minors camps across the Commonwealth. Nuka Cup Tournament The 2321 Nuka Cup Tournament takes place starting this week, February 12, and runs through February 26. Last season, the Egret Ninjas took the tournament, defeating Jamaica Plain, 13-5, in the one-game championship. The tournament took place over eight days in 2320. This season, there are a few changes, including stretching out the number of days. On Days 1 and 2, now, instead of four games played in a regional, there will be only two maximum games per day. The CBO cited that most four-game days ran well into the night, some finishing around 3 AM when any game went to extra innings. This season, fans get to buy one-day packages that cover two games with starting times between 12 PM-9PM. Regional games will have a one-hour planned break between games. That means if the first game is schedule for 12 PM, the second game will be at 4 PM unless delayed because of weather or extra-inning games. Each regional is staggered where every game in a day begins at a different time. The other change is that the Nuka Cup Finals will now be a three-game series. The regionals remain an eight-team double elimination tournament, and the Nuka Cup Semifinals will still remain as a single game. Dates below and then teams by rank in each regional. Quincy News and Notes December 4 - Nine-time All-Star, 36-year-old LF Ken Debate of Jamaica Plain, announced that he would be foregoing team offseason training and pursuing his own training with former Brotherhood of Steel soldiers. Called the Survivalist Training Regiment, Debate will be going out into the wastes along the Canadian border to strengthen his body. Debate, who is 7th all-time in home runs (427), has hit eight in the past two seasons, none in 2320. He was quoted as being unhappy with his role but also blamed his own failing skills. At 36, he said he wanted to call it quits at 40, not now. In 2320, Debate played in 65 games, starting a career-low 21. He batted .183 with 12 RBI and seven runs. Six of his 19 hits were doubles. he struck out 41 times in 119 plate appearances and walked 14 times. The Red Rockets organization has stamped a four-game suspension for skipping on mandatory off-season camps. December 15 - Lexington's SP Aaron Noluh has been working on specialized strength training with a private physical therapist in Lexington and has reported great gains. There have been reports of frustration among Synths players in team trainer Eamnonn Wohlmann's system. Noluh opted to seek his own training regiment. We will stay tuned if there is any depth to the rumors about the Synths' training regimen. Noluh is the second veteran this month to announce gains on his own training regiment. Earlier, veteran Ken Debate of Jamaica Plain reported feeling "young again" after his own survivalist training regimen. For both players, we will see if 2321 shows improvements in their performances. Noluh went 9-17 with a 3.73 ERA in 2320. The league NCA average was 3.55, so Noluh was well below average in 2320. December 22 - FHE's Chad Kahan was found in possession sometime earlier this month of large quantities of Psychojet while traveling near the Vermont border. The CBO investigated and issued a 36-game ban on Kahan in the 2321 season. December 29 - Southie fired hitting coach John Wendel and replaced him with Rory Clawhunt. January 20 - The FHE Yao Guai traded 20-year old minor league RF Cam Hall to the Lexington Synths, getting 41-year old RHP Deedee Martinson and 21-year old minor league LF Kerrin Garrett in return. January 24 - The County Crossing Bloodbugs traded 24-year old LF Hingle McCringleberry and a 9th round draft pick to the Southie Brews, getting 20-year old minor league RF Mack Truck Adams, 24-year old minor league 3B Knob Elded, 20-year old minor league 1B Harrison Barrett, and a 14th round draft pick in return. January 31 - The Sunshine Tidings Chemists traded 25-year old 1B Homeless Hank Mimmy to the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, getting 26-year old RHP Alandro LaForge and 23-year old CF Kai Smith in return. February 3 - RP Pigpen Singleton, 31, was upset to find out that Quincy would not carry him on their 40-man roster in 2321, prompting him to retire effective today. In his career, Singleton pitched in 105 games over five seasons with Lexington, FHE, and Quincy. His best seasons were in 2313 (2-2, 3.45, 57.1 IP) and 2314 (7-2, 3.25, 55.1 IP) with the Synths. He appeared in one game with FHE in 2318 and one game with the Granites in 2320. An 11th-round pick by Egret in 2310, Singleton is most known for being a part of the trade that sent now Hall-of-Famer Lannie Tykeson to Oberland from Quincy, along with SP Trolley Dodge, CF Prince Tripp, and 1B Curious Vault in 2311. Tykeson finished his career with the T-51s (2311-2316). February 4 - In December, the FHE's Chad Kahan was found to be psycho-jet positive and received a 36-game suspension. Today, it was found out that Kahan was part of a ring distributing chems to players through black market means. He has an additional ban from preseason and Spring Training activities and must be monitored by the league to avoid any further actions against him. The Brotherhood of Steel is also launching an additional investigation into black market chems, especially in regards to increased accounts of violence around the Commonwealth. As a result of a CBO investigation led by detective Nick Valentine, it was found that six veterans with the Yao Guai had obtained Buffout, Bufftats, and Psychobuff, three chems strictly banned by the CBO. Each player will receive a 14-game regular season ban, or 10% of the season, as first-time offenders and be unavailable to participate in the Nuka World Tournament. The offending players are 3B Odo Capchange, C Hanlon Doyle, RP Ollrod Hubbard, LF Puny Merchant, SS Christian Savage, and RP Agnet Skinner. Unlike Kahan, these six players will be allowed to participate in Spring Training. Despite the top CYL players usually surpassing the CCBL for the CBO Draft, the CCBL has been a lot better at developing players to be immediately effective in the CBO. Here is the latest crop of entering freshmen that OSA scouts love best: 1. SS Anvil McConnell, Middlebury - The Panthers join the CCBL with the highest-rated freshman, something that looks to be a theme. Scouts think that McConnell will be a power-hitting SS with a great eye to boot. While he may never be a top batting average hitter, he should have a high OBP and SLG. McConnell will need to develop his defense a lot more and will probably settle at 2B instead of SS either in the CCBL or the next level due to a weaker arm. 2. RF Packy Albano, Landmark College - Another top freshman joining a new addition to the CCBL, Albano is expected to be the Sharks' top power hitter. Like McConnell, Albano has a great combination of power with a sharp eye, though his average is not likely to top .250. His arm is also not considered strong enough to be a long-term RF, so he is more likely to move to LF either in the CCBL or at the next level. 3. 1B Silky McLean, Fitchburg State - The Falcons freshman is a good all-around hitter that should hit for a high average and his fair share of home runs. He has a knack for recognizing pitches in the zone. He hits the ball on a line rather than a power hitter's uppercut, so he can get a high amount of total bases. He is also fast for a 1B with the ability to patrol the OF if needed. At 1B, he could be a top glove at the position but may end up in RF. 4. 3B Sal Ami, UConn-Avery Point - Another top freshman joining a new institution in the CCBL, the Pointers' 3B is yet another high power-high eye hitter who may not end up with a strong average. Ami is more home run or bust than the rest. Sometimes he watches strikes waiting for his pitch, something he will need to work on with the Pointers. His glove also needs work, though when he does glove the ball, he can throw out almost anyone. 5. 1B Bedhead Ozawa, American Int'l - We are seeing a pattern here in the top players. Ozawa is yet another high power-high eye player. Ozawa is not one to watch strikes, but he almost must square up a pitch to get a hit with a lot of fight off outs. When he does square up, the ball flies off the barrel. At 1B, the Yellow Jacket is considered OK, able to glove balls as needed but will never be a defensive standout. The CCBL's crop of freshmen pitchers is not great. The top-rated starter among freshmen is Middlebury's Error Dikerdem, who is rated by OSA as a 60 potential. He is a finesse righty who uses his changeup as his greatest pitch in his four-pitch arsenal. He is pretty good at hitting the corners, which also helps to cut down on home runs allowed. At the next level, he would have to find a way to break into the rotation. CYL Teams and Divisions CYL Top Freshmen While the number of top-rated players is down in this year's CCBL freshman class, the CYL is loaded with lots of talent entering. Here is the list of top freshmen with a few familiar family names in the group. 1. SP Leap Quantum, Worcester Crows - Beckett Quantum's son, Leap is a hard-throwing lefty with a decently good cutter and developing changeup. Scouts love that he is consistent in getting the ball over the plate already. He needs to work more on movement in his pitches, but scouts see ace potential in Quantum at the next level. 2. 1B Hermin MacDonald, Swansea Nuka Sox - Another son of a CBO player, in this case, former #1 overall pick Stormin' Normin MacDonald. Hermin is a high-power, high-eye hitter who can hit balls high and deep. He has the ability to develop his contact ability, which is pretty low entering his freshman season. He could use some work with his glove, but he should be OK at 1B. 3. 1B Bugs Solagov, Foxborough Night People - A freshman with one of the new additions to the CYL, the Night People are really young as are all new teams in the CYL since there were not previous youth development opportunities. Solagov was sent to the Night People from Seekonk, and they got a potential star. Solagov is a power hitter whose best ability is driving in runs by hitting the ball over the fence. He is big and will only get bigger, already at 6'1" at 13. He has a great glove and a strong arm. If he were any faster, he could make a great right fielder. As it stands, he could already be a top 1B in the CYL as a freshman. 4. RF Quartz Sapphire, Thompson Heights Earthlings - Diamond Sapphire's son is looking to make an impact as a freshman, though he may need to start his career as a pinch hitter unless his bat just cannot be kept off the field. As a corner OF, he is a detriment. For his bat, he should be the middle-of-the-lineup cornerstone to the Earthlings' offense. He likes to swing for the fence on every pitch, so learning more patience will serve him well. 5. CF Poppy Aintfull, Coventry Quads - Son of Pockets Aintfull, Poppy's best asset is his ability to watch bad pitches and not waste swings. He is a bit of an uppercut swinger, so he is yet another power first guy, which is not usual for a CF. As a switch hitter, he is currently better against LHPs. He is not the fastest player, but he will steal a base from time to time. In the OF, he has decent range, but he does sometimes misjudge balls. He will need to work on understanding angles of hit balls. He should start in CF but may move to LF eventually.
