Trashcan Carla said that Super-Duper Marts will carry t-shirts, blankets, coffee mugs, and pretty much anything that can accept laser imprinting. "We are going to make fans all across the Commonwealth crazy about their teams," Carla said. "Every fan in Lexington with be in orange." April 2297 - News and Notes - April 7
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 7 April 2296 - McBride Mauled by Radscorpion Just one day before the 2297 season begins, Starlight will be without its starting third baseman Hubris McBride for a while. After the team's caravan traveled near the West Bank of the Charles River just west of Graygarden, heading to Fort Hagen for their Institute League season opener, a group of radscorpions jumped the group. Through the chaos of the situation, McBride took a direct stinger to the abdomen. The radscorpion stalker, a stronger version than the standard radscorpion had McBride in its pinchers when it was dispatched by security firearms. While the team stopped to rest and cook up some radscorpion steaks to replenish their energy. McBride was treated with meds and chems on-hand and then turned back east of the river towards Kendall Hospital. McBride, who has been rated as the best third baseman in the Institute League, will miss this weekend and possibly the first month of the season while he recovers from the radscorpion's poison.

2297 - Preseason Predictions
Now that Spring Training is complete, teams can turn their attention to the regular season, a 60-game affair (ignore those rogue predictions with 61) among individual leagues over 20 weekends from April through mid-August.
For the 2297 season, P.A.M., or the Predictive Analytic Machine, has returned to offer her deep dive into the world of Commonwealth baseball. P.A.M. is a master of predictive analysis. Running the numbers, here is what P.A.M. had to say about the 2297 season. "I was, am, and will most likely be P.A.M. Predictive Analytic Machine. All systems fully functional. Baseball token recognized. I provide first order approximations of the behaviors of all residents of the region designated Commonwealth. Rephrasing. I predict the future. Rephrasing. I also provide first order approximations of the results of baseball of the league designated CBO. Commonwealth Baseball Organization. Nate Howard has reprogrammed this unit's new primary goal. He calls it the B.P.M. Baseball Prediction Model. Processes reaching maximum capacity. Output only. User must fill in own conclusions. Data sustained. Accuracy is expected to reach better than 80%. Results printed. Recharge in progress. End transmission." BROTHERHOOD LEAGUE ANALYSIS This division is expected to change, though most of the division should be close. Two teams expected to separate from the pack are the Salem Witch Hats, where PAM has them winning only 22 games. One correction to note, PAM assumed an extra game in the league because of last season's play-in game. The order of finish is still the same. The other team expected to separate from the rest is the Easy Town Assaultrons. Not only did they change their city name, but they look geared to take the league crown this season. The interesting aspect of the season looks to be who teh wildcard team will be. It must be noted that the BL wildcard was the best spot to be in during the 2296 season since The Slog Ghouls ended up winning the Sole Survivor Series. This season, the defending CBO champions and defending BL champs, Finch Farm, are predicted to finish fifth and fourth, respectively. However, they are expected to be within three games of wildcard prediction, the County Crossing Bloodbugs. Nordhagen Beach is also expected to compete for the wildcard spot, predicted just a game back of the Bloodbugs. INSTITUTE LEAGUE ANALYSIS Starlight is looking to extend its momentum of winning the Battle for the North Tournament in the preseason; however, PAM thinks it was a fluke. In fact, the IL is expected to be a two-team race between Abernathy and Sunshine Tidings for the division crown. The rest of the division looks to need a lot of things to go their way to have a shot at the playoffs in 2297. While teams like Concord and Fort Hagen should be improved, they are still looking at losing records in a division with a clear discrepancy in talent level. MINUTEMEN LEAGUE ANALYSIS Not only did Goodneighbor take the Battle for the South Tournament, but this team looks to legitimately be the top team in the CBO. The Hancocks are the favorites to win it all, replacing last season's league winner, the Warwick Mirelurks. Not only did the Mirelurks drop from last season's dominance, but PAM thinks they will miss the playoffs altogether. The Warwick pitching was dominant, but if other teams catch up, that prediction could be right on target. Quincy is the team expected to make the other leap in the division, replacing Atom as the wildcard representative. The Gunners made some moves that makes them a tough out for everyone except, perhaps, Goodneighbor. RAILROAD LEAGUE ANALYSIS Oberland is expected to repeat as division champions, but the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai are trying to challenge that banner chase. The Yao Guai are going to depend on pitching to rule the day in their hopes to make the playoffs as either the champions or the wildcard. Diamond City is trying to make a move on both teams, and that will make this league race one of the better ones. The other three teams are not expected to compete for a playoff spot, but it only takes a few weeks of being hot to change the league dynamics. PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS 1. Goodneighbor, ML 2. Abernathy, IL 3. Oberland, RL 4. Easy Town, BL 5. Fairline Hill Estates, RL 6. Sunshine Tidings, IL 7. Quincy, ML 8. County Crossing, BL

Good to see the Party Boys at least expected to have a winning record, but I have my doubts about PAM's analysis, and I'm not just saying that because Fort Hagan is still last. Some seismic shifts all around predicted, but hey, it's a young league, it could happen.

PAM is 100% sure she is wrong 20% of the time.
She could be very wrong about teams. I actually didn't follow player ratings. I try not to post them here so that the audience does not have the same insight of who is supposed to be good. I mean, I don't want Tyke to know exactly how dire the Party Boys' bullpen situation is. And the Shroud could use a brand new outfield, but you cannot know how badly they need it (hint: very very very badly). I can't tell you that. But there is hope for both teams to show improvement. For NB, Cush Baker may be a pitcher some day (first game pitched was two scoreless innings!!!). For FtH, Ben Pawlak is THE premier prospect in the IL, not even counting the outfield. I can't show the ratings proving that. I can, however, show these position charts:

Sam Noob... Great name! Obviously I know you've edited the names for this, but crazy names are always one of my favorite aspect of sports stories, and is a large part of the reason we run so many of them on the other site I linked to where I originally put my Dynasty.

As OrangeP47 says, it's good to see the Party Boys predicted a better than 50% record - but I'm not holding my breath! As for the bullpen, StLee, it's too late, the information is already out there!
On the names front, you're keeping up the standard, especially with Wilson Beachball; it's just a shame you don't have a team called the Castaways! ![]() BTW, my avatar is the White Rose of Yorkshire and, in the UK [or in Yorkshire, at any rate!] today is Yorkshire Day. Happy Yorkshire Day everyone!! Last edited by Tyke; 08-01-2020 at 03:53 AM. |

Typically in Fallout, the raiders have fun names, but few others do. In my Fallout, people are not bound by their names, so they choose whatever name they want.

Yes, Wilson Beachball. Instead of straight up using Brian Wilson for a Beach Boys reference, a play on his name and something related to what a beach boy would like. Other subtle references include Surf Jardine (University Point 2nd-round pick), Callie Love (Abernathy 1st-round pick), and of course Beachboy Nut (#1 overall pick by Shaw). Happy Yorkshire Day! Enjoy your black pudding (in Korean phonetically called soon-day)!

April 2297 - News and Notes - April 8
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 8 April 2297 - Opening Day The long-awaited and much-anticipated Opening Day of baseball is finally here! For both fans and teams, hope always springs eternal. The proverbial "next year" is finally here! For better or worse, we'll find out what all the offseason management moves, manipulations and changes in personnel will bring. So, break out the squirrel nuts and roasted radroach legs, sit back, sip on a tall cool one, and get ready for some baseball. 8 April 2297 - BosCom to Run Experimental TV Broadcast in FHE-ETM Series Piper Wright and her BosCom company is running an experimental broadcast at BosCom Circle, testing its live television capabilities. The circuit will be available only in the Fairline Hill Estates region for now, though the broadcast amplification systems are in order. BosCom is asking that anyone capable of receiving the broadcast to report back to BosCom. There will also be spotters throughout the region checking the quality of the broadcast for signal quality, signal lag, and other technical requirements. Wright has expressed her excitement. "We're here!" Hopefully there is no static nor strange lights shooting out of televisions. When tuning in to the BosCom News Network station, we only saw a still shot of the Fairline Hill Estates banner with a note: "Pregame broadcast begins at 6:30 PM." 8 April 2297 - BL: Witch Hats Score 6-2 Win Against Nordhagen Beach Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. The contest featured a prime matchup between City Moore of the visiting Starlight Lady Killers and Brent Hooker of the Silver Shroud. The final score was 4-3, the Lady Killers getting the win. Brent Hooker turned in the best performance. The winning pitcher was City Moore. He's now 1-0. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 11 hits for the Lady Killers. It could have been a different outcome for Starlight, had it not been for Ruben Q, the 25-year old third baseman . Q contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Starlight up, 4-0. "We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Q said. Other scores: Concord 4 at Lexington 7 Swat Diamond's two-run home run in the bottom of the 8th put the Synths up for good. Abernathy 2 at Sunshine Tidings 7 Tony Bertha pitched a complete-game victory, allowing only one earned run on nine hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. 8 April 2297 - ML: Diner Masters Atom in Complete Game Win The Warwick Mirelurks satisfied the home crowd at The Homestead, treating them to a season-opening win, 6-1, over the Atom Cats. Starting Pitcher John Diner was the standout performer for Warwick. Diner's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 4 strikeouts in 9 innings while allowing 7 hits. Diner, who finished 4th in the ML in innings pitched with 131.0 last year, goes to 1-0 on the year with 4 strikeouts. "Good to get a win," said Diner, "but it's a long season." August 2297 - News and Notes - April 9
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 9 April 2297 - BL: Witch Hats Edge Past Party Boys, 7-6, in 10 The Salem Witch Hats weathered an outstanding game by Nordhagen Beach first baseman Dustin Mart to topple the Party Boys, 7-6. Mart belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Dan Beantown, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. Nordhagen Beach drops to 0-2. The Witch Hats procured the win, in large part because of left fielder Tyler Spronk. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double. Spronk said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz." The Party Boys used seven pitchers in the game. Night Demon Archaki gave up the game-winning hit to suffer his first loss. Other Scores: The Slog 7 at Finch Farm 6 Boots Yellowhair had two hits, including a home run, and two runs batted in to help boost the Ghouls to their first win. Easy Town 0 at County Crossing 3 Blaine Phrasemaker pitched 8.0 innings of shutout ball, allowing just six hits and striking out 10. 9 April 2297 - Schmidt Boosts Hit Streak to 20 Games Salem third baseman Pistol Schmidt keeps on racking up hits every time he plays. His hitting streak now stands at 20 games after collecting 1 hit at Vim! Park of Salem today. The Witch Hats took the 7-6 victory over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. "I have been seeing the ball really good the last few weeks, but I am a bit surprised how things are working out," Schmidt said. "I've gotten a couple flares to drop in, so I've also been a little lucky." Pistol Schmidt singled in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, walked in the 6th, walked in the 7th and walked in the 9th. 9 April 2297 - IL: Silver Shroud Win Thriller, 4-3 The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud beat the Starlight Lady Killers, 4-3, at Hubris Comics Park. Fort Hagen third baseman Micah Morals had an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Fort Hagen reliever Curtis Thriceshot picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Chris Schneier was saddled with the loss. The victory makes Fort Hagen 1-1. The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Morals hit a fastball from Chris Schneier for a run-scoring double. The Silver Shroud, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win. "Nice to see our side come away with the win," Morals said after the game. Other Scores: Concord 6 at Lexington 7 The Synths had a big lead but had to hold off the Radstags comeback. Swift Hendrix had four hits and scored twice. Justin Daris drive in four. Abernathy 7 at Sunshine Tidings 4, 13 inn. The Adamantium used a passed ball on a Cory DaRoad pitch to take the lead. They added two more runs in the 13th to claim their first victory. 9 April 2297 - ML: Mirelurks Top Cats, 9-5 Warwick third baseman Tutton Gatekeeper played a vital role in his team's 9-5 triumph over Atom. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for Warwick. Atom falls to 0-2. Brad Krol came through for Warwick with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first. The second baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 3 RBI. "Good to get a win," said Gatekeeper, "but it's a long season." Other Scores: University Point 6 at Jamaica Plain 7 First baseman Cody Flatt was 3 for 3 with a walk, a double, a home run, a run, and two RBI to lead the Red Rockets to their first victory. Goodneighbor 2 at Quincy 8 Brian Drinkwater stayed hot, going 1 for 2 with two walks and a three-run home run. He scored twice and now has 6 RBI in just two games. 9 April 2297 - 20 Games in a Row for Rose The Goodneighbor Hancocks may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 8-2 to the Quincy Gunners, but John Rose continued to hit like a god. The center fielder collected 2 hits in 3 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "Rose is playing great and is on fire right now," Hancocks manager Jeremy Whiteplate said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Rose was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." John Rose singled in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, walked in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. 9 April 2297 - RL: Scrappers Get Close Win Over Yao Guai, 10-9 The Egret Scrappers did just enough to sneak past the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai, 10-9, at BosCom Circle. Egret left fielder Paladin Danse, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner was Egret reliever Brian Dingo, now 1-0. The loser was Bus Paula. The loss puts Fairline Hill Estates at 1-1. Egret used the timely hitting of Thinker Brown to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Scrappers on top, 9-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer. "When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Brown. Other Scores: Diamond City 8 at Vault 81 11 Terry O'Dell went 2 for 4 with two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI. Shaw 2 at Oberland 7 Matt Udder allowed two earned runs in 7.2 innings with four hits, eight walks, and four strikeouts. The T-51s did not score their first run until the bottom of the 5th.

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 10 April 2297 - BL: Witch Hats Hang 7-5 Loss on Party Boys Chris Treestump was instrumental in his team's 7-5 triumph over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys to complete the sweep. The right fielder went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Salem Witch Hats. The save went to Dan Beantown, number 2 for him. The Witch Hats, now 3-0, have stormed out of the gates. Had Kody Downing not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Downing hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Witch Hats. Chet Arthur was credited with the loss, though the two unearned runs given up were thanks to error machine, third baseman Tommy Talkington. Talkington helped his team with the bat, going 2 for 5 with a home run, but he continues to struggle on the field. "You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Salem manager Proper Lighthouse. Other Scores: The Slog 8 at Finch Farm 5 The defending CBO champions won the series against the defending BL champions. Boots Yellowhair was 3 for 5 with a double, a home run, two runs, and three RBI. Easy Town 10 at County Crossing 8 Adam Henderson was 3 for 4 with a walk, two doubles, two runs, and two RBI to lead the Assaultrons to avoid the series sweep. 10 April 2297 - IL: Silver Shroud Deal Lady Killers 6-3 Setback Fort Hagen third baseman Micah Morals was a significant contributor in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Starlight Lady Killers. He was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs for Fort Hagen. The win gives Fort Hagen a record of 2-1. Morals contributed in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Fort Hagen get the win. "We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Morals. Other Scores: Concord 0 at Lexington 14 The Synths swept the series in style, bullying the Radstags. Chris Morgan pitched the complete-game two-hitter. He walked five and struck out six. Tyler Ross added a home run and four RBI. Abernathy 3 at Sunshine Tidings 4 Jalen Wharton's two-run, pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the seventh proved to be the winning hit. In the loss, Neil Watson pitched well other than the home run, pitching 8.0 innings, and allowing four runs, two earned. 10 April 2297 - ML: Sanderson goes 4-for-4, Leads Mirelurks to Sweep The Warwick Mirelurks beat the Atom Cats, 8-3, at The Homestead. Melon Sanderson, in particular, was impressive. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The Mirelurks raised their record to 3-0. The Mirelurks got a big hit from second baseman Brad Krol. In the bottom of the fifth, Krol pounded a run-scoring double to left-center. His 4th double of the season put the Mirelurks ahead, 3-2. Sanderson told a BNN reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win. Other Scores: University Point 5 at Jamaica Plain 4 Jukebox Luttrell was 3 for 3 with a double, a home run, a run scored, and three RBI to lead the Deathclaws in the series victory. Goodneighbor 4 at Quincy 10 Andrew Nuka helped his team to an opening-week sweep. He was 2 for 3 with two three-run home runs to drive in six. He walked twice and scored twice. 10 April 2297 - Gunners End Rose's Streak John Rose's sizzling hitting streak was snapped at 20 games today as the Goodneighbor Hancocks dropped their contest with the Quincy Gunners 10-4 at The Stone House. Rose failed to get a hit, finishing 0-for-4. After the game Rose spoke with BNN and called his effort "quite a streak." "I just ran into some good pitching today," he said. 10 April 2297 - RL: Scrappers Go Down to Defeat, 11-7 Nick Waterpipe was a vital contributor to the 11-7 Fairline Hill Estates victory over Egret. I may not comment on it every time it's posted, but that's some good artwork I must say.
Nice to see Fort Hagan winning, though it's just the first series so I'm not gonna say it's setting a trend or anything just yet. Also though we're all in it for the Party Boys, I must say too the Witch Hats have some of the best theming of any of the teams too, even if it's a really obvious theme. |

2297 Week 1 - The Week in Review
Analysis
It's hard to tell right away if teams are good or bad, but there have been some teams already telling us what we may need to know. Of course, there are teams expected to do well that did not show that they are good and there are some teams expected to do poorly who won their series. Then there are the sweeps. In a 60-game season, a sweep is a big deal. It either puts a team far ahead in its pursuits or drops them far behind. Four teams swept--Lexington, Quincy, Salem, and Warwick--which means four other teams were swept--Atom, Concord, Goodneighbor, and Nordhagen Beach. For the undefeated, Warwick keeps doing what it does. The biggest surprise is probably the Witch Hats who were predicted to be among the last of the entire CBO, and predicted by far to finish last in the BL. It is yet to be determined how good Lexington and Quincy can be, but they have to be happy with Week 1. Atom was a playoff team last year, and Goodneighbor is predicted to win the entire CBO. So those two teams may be able to overcome a difficult first weekend. Concord and Nordhagen Beach may need more help or just to play better to have a chance in 2297. There were no sweeps in the RL, so looking at performances there, it is about what it is supposed to be so far. Oberland blew the sweep chance, but they are probably the team to beat in 2297, just like they were in 2296. Through a glitch in the system, there were no players of the week selected. StLee is baffled why things do not always work as expected or why that has been a long-time oversight in the game for first and last weeks/last months in the Top Players selections. So, take a peek at the stats leaders to see who did best. At least the stats show that for now.

I appreciate the sentiment. I try to give some visuals to bring this Fallout-baseball conglomeration to life. My first goal this morning is to give a tour of the new Nordhagen Beach. The settlement build is also not my own since it would take me a long time to make anything half as good as what I can find through various Reddit and Google searches.

Get to Know Your Settlements, Owners, and Corporations
Today in the CBO Settlements Today by Nat Wright-Kowalski 13 April 2297 - Nordhagen Beach, Part 1 On certain Tuesdays for the 2297 season, we will feature one of the settlements, teams, and owners of the Commonwealth Baseball Organization. This is meant to tell you more about life in the Commonwealth, as well as give you more information about the teams and their owners. These will be done at Nat Wright-Kowalski's availability In our seventeenth installment of "Settlements Today," I visited the true party town of the Commonwealth, Nordhagen Beach. This is one place in the Commonwealth where the saying is true, "Life is a beach." When Nate Howard first arrived at Nordhagen Beach, it was a "a small settlement along the coast. In its base state, there [were] three settlers, two parents and a child" named Thomas, Martha, and Tommy Beach, who currently pitches for the Party Boys originally as an unsigned free agent in 2296 (https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Nordhagen_Beach). The plain Nordhagen Beach - 2287 While the Beaches were trying to have a simple life, they were sandwiched between the raiders controlling nearby Winthrop, aka Easy Town, to the north and a group of supermutants occupying Fort Strong to the south. Nate dispatched all of those *************, and the Beaches were able to live in peace, with more settlers deciding to stay in the beautiful beach peninsula. In time, Emogene, who no longer wanted to live in the Cabot House Estate in Downtown Boston, decide that Nordhagen Beach was a wonderful place to have her mansion built. Other than some shack-like structures, it was the only construction there for a long time, and it was quite the accomplishment. These days, Emogene has upgraded the area, getting some Institute-inspired decoratrions, including a rad-resistant tree on the structure, something the Institute has been spreading to other parts of the Commonwealth. Emogene's Mansion, 2297. Find this build at https://www.bitchute.com/video/xlmOYBY8mmUw/ These days, Nordhagen Beach is thriving as a beach resort. By the end of 2296, the settlement completed "The Boardwalk," a touristy area of bars, restaurants, and shops. Nordhagen Beach, despite its laissez-faire appearance, is actually a bustling area full of enterprise. Everyone who wants success can find it, and people coming to town often express their intention to "visit again or move here." Nordhagen Beach Boardwalk, 2297. Agree wholeheartedly with Orange P47 - the graphics, banners, settlements, etc make this a really immersive read and you deserve every credit for producing it, no matter how you put it together.
