Relegation's pretty much confirmed for the Boppers already. Might have to start selling off assets and commit to a long-term rebuild fraught with relegations. With how we're getting crushed this week, I have no idea how this group made it to perfect, let alone the playoffs last week.
We. F***ing. SUCK. Don't mind me. I'm just mourning the apparent loss of my general competency.

Motown went 90-72 in Diamond in 2039 Motown went 90-72 in Diamond in 2041 They are currently something like 28-14 so far in 2042. With (mostly) the same roster, in 2040, we played in Perfect - and went 60-102. Perfect is a big jump for some teams (depending on the team composition). And some years your guys just stop hitting or pitching and you suck. Can't do a lot about that. You just gotta take your lumps and figure out what you need to do to improve. And then start working on the plan. Though I guess if the plan involves wholesale selling of players, well then you might have already started it! |

This disaster of a season tells me I'm doing a few things wrong, so I have to figure out what those are. Bullpen's obviously one of them. Probably got spoiled from the rise of this team as a force in their league the past few weeks, so now it's time to refocus and rack my caveman brain about how to get the nose up on this thing. |

could be worse.... could be in that perpetual just-above-500 plateau where you're not bad enough for relegation, but not quite good enough to reach the post season.... just gotta hope that the points keep coming in, but even that will take many many many seasons to gather enough to pick up even one player (course, there's always the hope that some new missions I can afford or immediately claim get dropped with quality rewards)... |

Yeah, relegation is a blessing if you don't have the PP to compete in Perfect yet. I hope the Cowboys get relegated again. When they did a couple seasons ago they were a top team in Diamond.

1) Have a team worth 350k PP or more? --You should have the ability to be competitive, at least from first principles. So, what is your strategy for winning? How are you going to stop runs, and how are you going to score them? How will you suppress lefties: pitching or park factors (or both)? How will you get baserunners: contact or walks? How will you score runs: 2B/3B or HRs? Is there any feature of your team that isn't meshing with those strategies? 2) Have a team worth less than 300kPP, but have some PP ready to spend? --You probably have some unfinished collections you can use to generate PP. A simple way to figure out if a collection is worth it: Add up all the card rewards and compare to the costs. A good general rule is that an iron goes for ~1k, a bronze for ~100, a silver for 1k, a gold for ~3-4k, a diamond for ~15k (generally speaking). Sometimes these cost more, especially if the player is good or if the set reward is particularly high value, but it's a much better rule of thumb than you might otherwise think even in a lot of high reward sets. Can you flip any collections for profit? (Answer: Yes. Lots. LOTS. LIVE Phillies, A's, Tigers, and the SE Sisler collection might be a good place to start. Then look at some of the bigger sets [Twins, Mariners, Red, Rangers, Braves, White Sox, Orioles, etc.] if you have a larger (~30-50k) bankroll. 3) Have a team worth less than 300kPP and no PP laying around? --Make a list of all your players. Who do you consider to be expendable? Are you going to eventually replace that RF anyway? Is your DH just not getting it done? Have a reliever or SP who goes for 10k/20k/30k who just doesn't fit your team concept at the moment? Shed assets and get PP. Any rebuild starts with resources, and PP is way better for you than middling players keeping you at the basement of Perfect. If you get relegated that's okay; you gotta think long term. But be careful not to overestimate the PP income of Diamond compared to Perfect; if you don't have a good spending and teambuilding strategy, that ~5k extra PP isn't going to make much of a difference.

Quantacondor another superb post. Printing and filing this one! I need to rebuild some teams. Weird how Palolo is usually my worst and is doing better this season.

Hey Maxfire
Not sure how you feel about Hopalong Cassidy, but I did a quick google search on the Kansas Range Wars and found that Hoppy starred in a movie about them called, appropriately, "Range Wars." This logo was mainly stolen from the poster for the movie.

Or Perhaps...
Yes, this is what I do while QuantaCondor works on his team. It's probably the secret to my teams unmatched record of "success."

Your stuff is awesome!!! You single-handedly breathe life into OL. My favorite posts are your logos/other graphics and when allenciox does one of his interesting analyses.

Hey, I made an edit to the spreadsheet that you'll find useful. Google Sheets has a function called SORT that lets you define an array that you want to be automatically sorted. You can have the spot where you're entering data to be alphabetical and then off to the right hand sort, you can have the same info that automatically sorts itself by winning %. More info here: https://support.google.com/docs/answer/3093150?hl=en

Another Mistake
I violated one of the basic rules of layout in the Legends logos, by having them look off the page. I'll try to fix that tonight, but it may have wait until tomorrow because I have band practice after work.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I've been sorting after the data is entered, and that's where I get my mistakes. I'm gonna check out Maxfire's suggestion about making the references in the loss column absolute, since that's where the problems crop up. Doesn't make sense to me why they change, but that doesn't mean it's not logical that they do.
