Roscoe Coughlin 1890

If you add in Minor League statistics, on the b-r site, you should discover that Coughlin played with the 1888 Chicago Maroons.

On his Ars Longa site, Jesse Loving displays many examples of the 1888 uniform. Here is an example:-

Not 100% happy with this one. "Birds" in the original were almost "blacked out" so some clumsy freehanding was employed.

I think typically photographers operated in or near a base and as a consequence the majority of their work will display visiting players.

I believe the birds were introduced in 1921 so they were very much a work in progress in terms of how they developed.

If you think the Cardinals image was clumsy I am wondering what you think of this image of Dee Cousineau, in defence it is the best I could find. It shows him with the 1924 Braves.

Actually, what was clumsy was my freehanding.

The Cousineau shot will be a heavy lift to get anything usable.

On the left was as clean as I could get it using two Topaz apps. Still looks like a horror show. The big black blotch over the left eye doesn't help. Next was a better shot from his Fordham days. I think that's a little better face and you might be able to do a "faceswap" with a better braves body using something like roop-unleashed or facefusion. On the right is an example - Hoot Evers' face on Gil Coan's body. Not perfect but it was usable for in game headshots. Regardless, this one would take additional time and work.

I was wondering what your software could come up with, and the image again proves the fact that the quality of a colorization is primarily dependant on the source image. Thank you for investigating what could be done but maybe it's best to move on , there is plenty of alternate quality material, like this one.

This is a 1924 Brooklyn Robins image of Joe Klugmann.

Frank Buttery 1872

I realize that you already altered and shared a colorized version of Frank Buttery, but I had been tinkering with it myself and thought I would share my ultimate result. As there was no reference for team colors for the Stratford Osceolas, I chose to go with red based on the lightness of the shading in the "O" on the chest of the jersey. I should add that I used our friends at Palette.fm

Thumbs up

Actually you have made Buttery's "aging" naturally with depth... really look great!

Robert Allen Baird colorized with the Washington Senators from an image shared by tnfoto. I used Palette.fm for backgrounds and skin tone.

Les Burke 1923

Wonderful colorization of Klugmann, hope like me you are 100% happy with it, thank you.

This 1924 image shows Les Burke with the Detroit Tigers, it is not the clearest but an alternative is available from another year if this is not workable.

palette.fm, et al.

Right eye & cap logo are problematic.

Alternative from '26 was less troublesome.

Astounding enhancement, thank you so much, never thought it would be credible to produce such an amazing outcome. Appreciate the bonus image, which actually was not the image I was holding as a back-up.

Here is an image of Ed Sperber with the 1924 Boston Braves.

Here's another obscure player who could benefit from colorization. There is a color shot of him in the OYW Fritsch cards but it is pretty blurry.
